A great museum with a wonderful collection of just about every type of art. They are engaged in a huge expansion program to make it even better. They also have great travelling exhibitions and many original curated shows.

Thursdays are free and the light tunnel is pretty cool. If you're not an art fanatic it's not going to be very interesting except for the special exhibitions but you usually have to pay for extra for it.

We have only been once as we wanted to see a specific exhibit. It is very interesting place to visit but not necessarily family friendly if you have little ones in tow. The closest restroom was hard to find and did not have a changing table(only important info if you need to change diapers) and is hard to get in and out of. There is 1 slow but busy elevator so be prepared to wait your turn if you go on a busy day.

Great museum in the heart of the museum district. It is one of Houston best museum's with rotating exhibitions and permanent ones that haven't gotten old for me yet. It's great for the old and the young alike.

Been to quite a few varied exhibits here. The staff is nice, the people who frequent the place are nice and unobtrusive. I enjoy it and will definitely go back again.

Great place for a date!

The top dog here in Houston when it comes to fine art. I enjoyed the fashion photography exhibit and the impressionists. My favorite you ask? Matisse! This is an extensive and significant art collection and a great way to stay cool in the summertime. Also, very good restaurant!

My wife and I finally decided to get a membership to MFAH. The museum is quite large and its collection extensive as it is but with the new expansion across Bissonnet it really was a great deal. You could spend an entire weekend in the museum and not see everything. Highly recommended.

The Portraits of the Royals exhibit that closed January 27th was laid out by royal family: Tudor, Stuart, Hanover, Windsor, etc. It was as much a history lesson as an art exhibit, enlightening many details of family relationships as well as international politics. Very excellent presentation.

I am a fan of their Iranian, Turkish and Latin Wave film festivals. It is also one of those few places in Houston where you can see movies that will never be shown in the commercial circuit. They also have outstanding seasonal art exhibitions.

The crowning glory of the Houston museum district. The basement-level movie theater is beautiful, cozy, comfortable. Have been there twice, to see "Bullitt" and "Giant," and can't wait to go again!

This museum can either take you minutes or days to walk through, depending on what you see. The layout of a little bit confusing, but not a I-am-list kind of way. There are exhibits from all over, and it was fascinating to see everything on display. Camera friendly as well!

I always enjoy the MFAH. As a member, you get a few more perks. But, day visitors can expect a bit of culture and, occasionally, an eye opening view of the world around us. The MFAH Cafe in the lower level of the Beck building offers some yummy bits, too. I suggest the lasagna or wood-oven baked pepperoni pizza; which is simple, yet very delicious.

The museum is basically just that, it is a museum. They do have a good building design, and art pieces that make for an enjoyable time. Thursday is free, so that's when everyone brings their kids, so it does get a little loud. but otherwise, I had a relatively good time

It had been a while since I had visited the museum and for now on, I will visit more often, two hours were not enough. What an incredible experience, beginning with the free parking even on a Saturday, and the staff is fantastic.

I loved it! The place was really well put together and all of the exhibits were so beautiful and informative. I didn't get to look at every exhibit because it's such a large place but I will come back!

The Peacock in the Desert exhibit was truly exceptional. From the Maharajah's polished aluminum Rolls Royce and Stinson taildragger airplane to gorgeous clothing, flat diamond turban jewels, as well as the historical recounting of the Jodhpur region made this an unforgettable experience.

World class museum with tons of fun and exciting exhibits. Spent this morning at the Soto exhibit and was not disappointed. Love when they bring in installments that you can touch and experience from within. They encouraged photography within that specific exhibit and they are getting lots of cool shots from museum patrons.

Anyway, the permanent exhibits are always beautiful and the museum is a nice, calm, and cool space. Consider coming on Thursday, when the museum is FREE! Especially on one of those summer days where your seat belt has burned you one time too many.

General admission is ~$15. If you think you might go a few times in the coming year, which is not a huge commitment, splurge and become a member. It's worth it!

I've visited the HMFA on a number of occasions and have never been disappointed. Staff is friendly, the displays are interesting, and there is a good variety of pieces. I most recently saw the Ron Mueck sculptures with friends. I look forward to the next display.
