MFAH is awesome, well organized and has too much to offer (3 multi-story buildings). During my visit, there was also a brilliant exhibition of Van Gogh and David Hockney. Spending 3-4 hours there would be great and totally worth your time and money.

The museum district in Houston is largely funded by all the gas and oil money that's pouring in from the gulf of Mexico and from various points around Texas and that large source of private funding is blatantly obvious when it comes to the Museum of Fine Art. The museum always has amazing artworks from established painters like Rothko and Rubens but also experimental works from local Houston artists. Everything about this museum is impeccably well designed and artsy, and it's a great art museum and probably one of the best in the state, if not the country.

Our city's treasure, this museum is one of a kind. Recently went here for the William Forscythe: Choreographic Objects and it was a quiet but impactful experience. I went with my 3 year old and baby. Staff were so helpful and let my son quietly play through the exhibit. I love this museum.

We had a nice time today, esp with the bonus of being a free Thursday. The staff were helpful with guiding us when we were confused. Lunch in the cafe was excellent- reasonably priced, excellent quality.

I like to go on Thursday nights where they have music, food trucks and wine / beers and relax from work and enjoy the art and museum spaces. The progress of the new building is impressive and I can't wait to see it. It is one of my favorite places in H-Town!

For those artistic in nature or who just love to appreciate good art, in the city of Houston, this is the mecca. Their admission prices are very reasonable and they're free on Thursdays. I've come here quite a few times and can't wait to get back!

Wonderful time for the family. There are two buildings and 5 floors of art to see. There are generations of art work and the facilities are clean. The special exhibits are fun but cost about $18 a person. There is an underground tunnel that connects both buildings in the a.c.

The MFAH offers a great experience for first-time visitors and those of us who visit every few months. They frequently change what art is on display so there is always something new to see.

Tips for Visiting:
- It's free on Thursdays (excluding special exhibits).
- There is complimentary coat and bag check.
- Don't miss the light tunnel connecting the two buildings.
- Upstairs in the Beck Building (the building with the gift shop), the art is arranged so that you can walk through history. Ask a curator to show you what room to start in.
- The Beck Building has the art of the Western Civilization while the Law Building has the art of the rest of the world.

Excellent temporary exhibition of 20th century Mexican art. Permanent collection of paintings is very good but not great, with lesser works by major artists alongside the best of the second tier. Definitely worth 2 or 3 hours.

The present and the past in the arts. Original paintings by van gogh, toulusse lautrec, cezane, rodin. It is worth the visit. I love museums. Divided into two buildings. At least 2 to 3 hours of culture. If you visit Houston do not stop going to this museum.

Enjoyed the MOFA. Obviously a very clean establishment. The people that work there are friendly and everyone gets in free on Thursday's. There's a lot to do so make sure you get there as early as possible cause it will be an all day thing.

Had a great time there on Museum Experience Day, featuring free general admission! Parking is hard in the area, and requires payment if you're anywhere near the museum. But it's a nice place to walk around once you're parked, especially if you have a Museum District walking map.

Awesome! A very private collection of Monet to Picasso & Berthe Morisot, inspiring! Seniors $18.00
However, I am visiting Houston and my friend is a member, so she paid $6.00 for the both of us. Parking was free with validation. Membership also gets you an audio guide. If you live in the area, you may want to join!

Always a delight to visit and enjoy the new exhibits. We don't live close enough to visit on a weekly basis but I know that if we did, we would be there.

An environment for the whole family. A beauty.

As a local, MFAH has been one of my favorite places to visit and hang out in Houston for years. The location is amazing - right in the heart of the city next to Hermann Park and the Texas Medical Center. Walking distance from the MetroRail. More

The place is like any other fine arts museum, not saying it's a bad place. Each month (I could be wrong) they bring in something new or so. There was one day I came to MFAH and they had Legos on a table spread out for people who want to create something, and I thought that pretty neat.

We came for the Bamboo exhibit. The price of admission varies but does offer general admission to the museum as well. We paid for parking in the museum garage a block away. First 30 minutes are free. And it's worth it to keep your car cool on the Texas heat. Aside from the Bamboo exhibit there was plenty of FINE Art collections from around the globe like, India, Korea, China and Africa.
