This place is huge. A wonderful way to spend the day.
Free general admission on Thursday (free parking, too), so we got to see the rest of the museum after the Van Gogh exhibit.
They also have happy hour on Thursdays with some great drink specials!
They are always bringing in new installation and exhibits to keep things fresh. Thursday's are free entry for the general exhibits. I always enjoy myself when I come here.
Nice museum and very informative. Visit on Thursday evenings for free. They also have happy hour in Thurdays. Also, free parking in the garage as well after 5 PM. They also have many events happening all the time. Check out their calendar on the website for latest events.
Amazing... you can spend all day here and still not see it all.
Beautiful place to wander around. Make enough time to slowly walk every inch, it's very pleasant. My weekly visits are very enjoyable.
We went to the Van Gogh exhibit and I ended up taking a picture of a record player in the next room.
Very educational. Several different exhibitions to choose from and the exhibits constantly change. Free to park for the first 30 minutes after that 10 dollars for up to 4 hours and it goes up to 24 hrs for 45 dollars. They do offer student, military, and Bank of America credit cardholder discounts and MFA members get free admission. The website is also helpful.
I visited this lovely museum last week after learning they offer free admission on Thursdays. What a treat! So serene and so much art to admire and learn about. If you feel like being surrounded by beauty in a calm atmosphere, this is your place.
Brown Theater movies and documentaries are a gem! Great small tours by smart docents afterwards and classical music.
A wonderful exhibit of Norman Rockwell thoroughly enjoyable
Great museum !! Especially liked the collection of art objects of the peoples of North, Central and South America before the Columbus period - it's very amazing! The collection is extensive, each exhibit with a detailed description, not just what and where, but why and how a particular object was used, which makes the exposure cognitive and semantic.
Van Gogh exhibit and interactive room was AWESOME! Be prepared for crowds on weekends, or go during the week to escape the bustle. Love it! This place always feels like home
I usually come here for the documentaries and they have never disappointed!
I am Indian, I didn't like many things but it may be good for others.
Rudest museum personnel that I have ever encountered. Each and every one of of the museum personnel comes up with a different made up rule. Going into getting out of exhibitions are restricted to one way, you cannot get get to the exhibition you payed for even if you show your ticket. A Michaelangelo exhibition does not contain a single piece by him, all from other artists, it is a rip off taking 23$ each. To get to the exhibition on the second floor with a stroller you need to go through 5 different elevators, because nothing is labeled, all elevators only take you to one floor up or down, no elevators take you to 2 floors up. All elevators are on the edges of the buildings or you have to go through exhibitions where they won't let you in if you have a drink.
I have been a patron for this jewel in Houston ,the Van gogh exihibit surpassed my expectations ,please support your art museum
Amazing collection of paintings on the second floor of the Beck building!
Excellent, I never expected that this museum was that big, you need at least and entired day to enjoy all the paintings. Also, go with children is not a recommendation
Brilliant location with ever changing exhibits. Great for family, friends, or even to explore on your own.
Love this place. Full of wonderful history and passion. The best exhibits.
I absolutely love the rotating exhibits! The membership is totally worth it of you plan to visit at least 2 exhibits within a year. It pays for itself! And the discounted parking, discount in the gift shops, and member previews are an added bonus! The latest exhibit that I visited has been my favorite to date and it was free to me as a member! If you get the opportunity to visit the Life of Vincent Van Gough, it is an absolute must! I might be a bit biased as I've been a fan of his work for decades, but I was truly impressed with the display that was arranged by MFAH. I will definitely continue to renew my membership and enjoy the fantastic exhibits that seem to improve each year!
It's absolutely amazing. The art is truly breath taking.
Not only does this museum have great exhibits, but they have an excellent film selection. I recommend seeing a show here. Tickets are only $9 a piece - you won't be disappointed.
Wonderful Museum that has come along over the years very well with up to date exhibits and events. Really worth getting a membership here. Great restaurant and gift shop inside. Easy to walk around. Lots to see then most Museum's I have been to in USA. Parking is hard and gets very busy as they have some building work going on but I managed to park at Hermann Park and walk over. Staff are very helpful and knowledgeable and can guide and direct you well. Could easily spend the whole day here. Suitable for any age group. Clean beautiful environment. Museum district is awesome!!
Parking is extra. You can park on the street but it s hard to come by. Outdoor lots are cheaper. The museum is worth it. If the price is prohibitive come midweek in a free day.
Amazing place but also the area around it to do picnics is great.
What a fantastic venue to see wonderful things! Not only art but massive artifacts from ancient history to be seen! Even if you don't think you like art very much I would recommend you come walk through this place, especially with someone. Seeing artwork face to face is certain to adjust your perception and appreciation of it at least some.
A great way to spend an afternoon. An impressive collection of art from around the world.
Fabulous Impressionist exhibit, best I've seen in Houston
Excellent, with very complete collections, there was a magnificent Oscar de la Renta collection
I went with some guides and the explanations were very good several floors and several themes
Beautiful and inspiring museum. It is not free like the Dallas art museum however.
We saw the Van Gogh exhibit. Great collection. Also went through other collections. I like this museum.
Nice Experience but would like to have seen older pieces. Also, staff is a bit sexiest with Men and Women's apparel. Was told to check my purse. But all the ladies were left alone.
Wonderful museum. Lots of Islamic art. Wonderful food facility and store
Great exhibitions and fantastic collection, every time I go to Houston I visit this museum and it never stops to amaze me
One could spend an entire day, there is so much to see.
This bridge is near the Black Hole coffee shop. Never been in there. Bridges are not always on. Picture taken at 3 am.
There were 3 exhibits on Asia! There needed to be more diversity. They a had a small un-informatiave display on Africa, and it felt like they took 5 photos from a national geographic magazine circa 1992. I am so glad I didn't pay to see any of the films or additional exhibits. I only paid for general admission and I wish I hadn't paid for that. The parking is troublesome and too far away and there is too much walking. I hated every minute of it, and I usually love museums and art galleries, but this was a huge disappointment given the amount of publicity this place gets. The only exhibit that was cool was the "the light inside" by Jame Turrell
Always love visiting the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston! It is always great to see everything on site even the ones that are always sitting. This place will not disappoint if you love seeing Art. I even loved watching in the theatre room for old films.
Exhibits were beautiful, staff was absolutely some of the most rude I've ever seen.
Mesmerizing architecture. Fascinating paintings. A true gem for Houston visitors.
Great museum, be sure to buy tickets for special exhibits early since they sell out fast for the day. There are ways to get in for free so check out the website beforehand.
A really nice and big museum of fine art. There is some amazing art pieces inside. It is a great way to spend the day in Houston.
Parking was $5.00. We went when they had the Van Gogh exhibition and it was ridiculously packed. Fortunately we were not herded like cattle through the exhibit but it was really crowded trying to see everything. Overall it was a good experience, they gave you these little audio players that talked about the paintings . That was really cool. If you're going to go, try to go on a weekday so it's not packed or get there really early on the weekend.
Awesome museum. We traveled from the DFW area for the Van Gogh exhibit (which was amazing) and wound up spending the entire day here going through the permanent collections.
Even if you are not so interested in arts, you will enjoy the visit. It has interesting exhibitions.
Nice museum and fun walk through the surrounding parkland.
I had a really good time. I was impressed with the amount of people attending the show.
This museum is HUGE and houses tons of beautiful works of art from ancient Egyptian sarcophagi to modern pieces. I was there for several hours and felt like I just scratched the surface of all there was to see! I spent a lot of time viewing impressionist-era paintings and visited the special Van Gogh exhibit, which was spectacular. If you are wondering if the MFAH is worth the price of admission and parking, I'm here to tell you it is definitely worth it. There is something here for everyone!
The Houston Museum of Fine Arts is a site to behold. Spread across two sprawling buildings and showcasing hundreds of artworks from ancient civilizations to modern artists, everything is curated and beautifully displayed. The museum has wonderful artifacts from Asian countries and a massive collection of gold artworks. The Japanese permanent collection is beautiful, with lots of information on the production of the old watercolors. There s too much to write about but it s a museum worth seeing and spending hours in. The cafe was delicious and we didn t wait very long at all for our food.
One of the best art collections in the US hands down. Great exhibits from all over the world. Highly recommend becoming a member.
Top notch traveling and permanent exhibits. The staff are very helpful and customer service oriented.
It had been a while since I had visited the museum and for now on, I will visit more often, two hours were not enough. What an incredible experience, beginning with the free parking even on a Saturday, and the staff is fantastic.
Very few museum in Texas can reach this level of this wonderful museum.
We really enjoyed the Van Gogh exhibit. There was a line to get in- we waited about an hour- but its to be expected on a sunday afternoon. Parking was easy with a tunnel from the garage on Binz to the museum. Nice attendants checking on people in line and available for questions. World class exhibit- Thank you MFAH.
This is always a good place to escape. Today I visited the Van Gogh exhibit. Very interesting to read into the mind of a fantastic artist. Must see!
Van Gogh exhibit with some lesser know works and a couple of classics. One whole room is reproductions... Which is frustrating, as is the way the audio tour is set up where you have to climb over people to access audio. Interactive kids' room is best part.
This is an amazing museum. It must be one of the counts finest.
There are 3 good attractions in Houston, this is one of them
If I only had enough time to see everything. Stunning.
Great exhibits. Lots of different areas of art are shown. Bambu was fantastic!
You really need two full days to walk through this! There was so much amazing pieces!
I recommend doing a guided tour.
