Went to see the Vincent Van Gogh exhibition with the family. It was very crowded but totally worth the long lines.

I would definitely recommend getting the free audio device. It really added a lot of interesting information.

We spent over an hour admiring the beautiful paintings and drawings. I loved how the exhibition was set up to travel through time of Van Gogh's life. The last room was everyone's favorite.

Don't forget to see the interactive exhibition after the main tour. Wow. It was fun for kids and adults. We got some cute photos and watched the little ones making their own art.

We had a nice brunch at the cafe and on the way out walked through several galleries. There's really too much to see in one day. If you're driving into town park at the museum parking garage on Montrose. The walk to the main museum isn't far and there are some neat statues to see on the way.

I never thought that I would be the type of person to get a membership to an art museum, but this museum has so much to see that I may have to do so!

I just moved to the Houston area from Louisiana, and I don't think Louisiana has an art museum anywhere near the level this museum is on.

I viewed the Mueck exhibit, and it was very cool. Truly fascinating pieces large and small. Emotionally expressive in every day scenes as well one or two pieces rooted more in fantasy than reality. I hoped to see more pieces, but I was happy nonetheless.

The rest of the museum was just so expansive that I didn't have time to see it all in the four hours I spent there. I intend to go back soon!

Nice place with plenty to see. The cafe looks to be a nice eatery spot. They bring the food to your table. I just had a carmello latte and it was delicious. When I return I may have to try the food.

Go on a Thursday! If you get a chance, go to visit MFAH for free all day from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m on Thursdays. This is a must-visit if you're a Houstonian, or if you're just visiting. What a great way to get out of the Houston heat for a little while too!

On most days, tickets are $14 if you buy them online but it's still worth it. The past three times I've gone, the exhibits haven't really changed. The majority of the art is very modern, but they have all kinds of different collections from the Native American art to Egyptian, you name it. There are a TON of historic paintings here as well.

Supposedly, there is also a theatre (in which I haven't been able to visit yet), but I would love to some day!

Parking is usually pretty crowded, but I've always been able to find a parking spot. The parking lot is located right across the museum. If you're hungry, there are a few food trucks parked in the nearby area. Free art and delicious food! What wouldn't you go?

We LOVED the Vincent Van Gogh exhibit! This museum has so much to offer. They also had a section for kids involving the Van Gogh exhibit. MFAH has events year round, a classroom for kids classes, a free day to see the permanent art and even a disco night for adult that includes the art. There is always something fun and exciting to do!

Don't get a chance to go there often. But staff seemed friendly and helpful. Displays were well marked. Audio tracks available for additional info. Polite attendees. Just like to catch a little art/culture from other eras when I can.

The MFAH is a very well organized museum with plenty of rooms and modern facilities including video installations.
The temporary exhibitions are always very interesting.
Prices are reasonable.
I recommend the membership if you love nearby, it s a nice spot where to spend some Houstonian hot summer afternoon.
Interesting the movie hall where you can watch films never seen in commercial cinemas.

Museum is great. Stories behind the pictures are interesting. Museum is not small, if you interested in fine arts you should go. It will give everything what you expect. Also orchestra, you should go to know, was great. One of the greatest things in the world i see, so emotional.

Great

I gave 5 bc I don't really feel I'm the right person to enjoy the arts they're displaying. I'm more of a sci fi outer space guy but there were a few very cool pieces they had and a million that I don't even remember

Well the museum staff was not exceptional, I was ignored, talked to badly in front of my daughter, I went ahead stayed for my assignment, but it showed me racism is still present in this world, I have a brown skin color, do I not have a heart and lungs like everyone else, what does the color of my skin mean? May God bless the people of this world and their minds.

My husband and I had a wonderful afternoon walking through the museum on a rainy Saturday. It was not very crowded so we could easily spend as much or as little time as we wanted. We are quick viewers and it took us about 2 hours to walk through most of the museum. It is a lot of walking, but there are benches if you need to rest and admire the art. There is an interesting variety of mediums, styles and time periods.

The only negative was the layout. Upstairs flows in a circle, but each main hall has parallel halls on either side. It is easy to get confused which rooms you have and have not seen. We ended up missing a room or two because my husband swore we already visited it. A map might be helpful or if you are trying to cut down on paper, have a website that you can track the rooms you have been in.

What an amazing experience. It was my first time visiting the fine arts museum because of the Ron Mueck exhibition. Everything was amazing. A very good spot to hangout and relax on a Sunday.

The MFAH should be more accommodating to museum goers. More interactive activities and invitations for all. It's sometimes restrictive and catered towards more sophisticated goers. Art should be open and welcoming to all perspectives. Nevertheless, I never get bored of going though. You always stumble onto something new or rediscover something u forgot.

Beautiful museum with two floors of great art. You can spend better part of a day here. Went to see the Hockney-Van Gogh exhibit. If you want to see some really cool Van Gogh paintings, this is your chance before exhibit leaves US. Hockney work initially seemed undertoned, but as you progress through the exhibit you are awestruck at some really bright colors. His charcoal work is so fine, as well as ipad work. Very cool.

For starters I work at this museum and I honestly love everything about it. This museum has so many different exhibits. It is a great place to bring a date or come out to with a few friends. Parking is a bit pricey but it is definitely worth the experience.

Thursdays are free to general admission galleries, but you still must pay extra to see the traveling and special exhibits. Take advantage of the drop in docent guided tours if you can. Very informative and worth the time of the free tour.

This is a nice museum in the Museum District of Houston, and the staff and security guards were friendly and well-informed. I saw the Van Gogh exhibit on display, which, unsurprisingly, was extremely crowded (we waited in line about an hour to get into the museum) but lovely all the same. The rest of the museum was delightfully empty, probably due to the crowd being at the Van Gogh exhibit, and I enjoyed it more because of this.
