I went here with my kids and we enjoyed ourselves quite a bit. Parking was a bit of a hassle but it was worth it with all the exhibits. Next time we will go on a Sunday afternoon though I'm guessing it may get crowded. The staff treated us wonderfully.

I have been there on Thursday and it was a free day for everyone for General Entry. It has plenty of stuff for everyone. Historic stuff, photos, gold items etc from Islamic, Indian, Indonasian, Japanese, etc countries arts collection. Really like it.

Love the Peacock in the Desert exhibit but Big Bambu is just horrible. It is grotesque hodgepodge of bamboo sticks pilled up with walkways. With all the talented art and artists in the world why inflict this mess on the public. I like the permanent exhibits very much. I miss the wonderful lectures with coffee and refreshments.

Have had a membership here for many years. Always amazed by the wide variety of people attending the exhibits: all ages and stages, multiple ethnicities, families, date nights, friend groups, etc. Most recent new exhibit is wonderful retrospective of the works of Van Gogh. Don't miss it! Thursday evenings they have live music and food truck for their free day and extended hours. Frequent programs welcome young children as well. New construction means more space to display their treasures coming soon. This is a definite gem in a city of good culture!

So much beautiful art all around. It was a busy, but we managed to go early and it wasn't as busy. So I definitely recommend to go early in the day or maybe during the week rather than the weekend if you're trying to avoid a crowd.

An Amzing place to visit even if you are not into arts. Went there as part of a research assignment for an elective class and didnt expect to enjoy it as much as I did. It's not just about painting and sculptures, it was more than that. Enjoyed the ancient collection from around the world plus the architecture of the building.
The volunteers and the staff working there were friendly and answered some of my questions about the collection in detail.
I expected to spend about half to one hour at most but ended up spending about 2.5- 3 hours there. Another best thing was that the entry was free!
Parking around the area can be tricky and confusing around that area.

I had never experienced such racism as I did this past week in this museum. The staff was rude and followed me everywhere I went. I am an African American teacher but somehow they couldn t get past the color of my skin...

Special events are over priced. Additionally we waited in line for tickets for over 20mins at the single, one manned ticket counter only to find out there are several electronic ticket things in the lobby none of which had a wait nor did the Dosant point it out to a SINGLE person in line. We wound up leaving, wanted to see the later display but at the $$$ they were asking it wasn't worth it

We came for the Bamboo exhibit. The price of admission varies but does offer general admission to the museum as well. We paid for parking in the museum garage a block away. First 30 minutes are free. And it's worth it to keep your car cool on the Texas heat. Aside from the Bamboo exhibit there was plenty of FINE Art collections from around the globe like, India, Korea, China and Africa.

This museum offers a wide selection of art. They have a wide array of Western sculptures and paintings while also displaying a good amount of Central American, Korean, African, and Islamic art among other regions and styles. Of particular enjoyment was a room mostly dedicated to pointalism.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I have visited this museum on multiple occasions and hadn t had a complaint until today. I went to attend the bamboo exhibit this afternoon. Upon arriving we got noticed a large line of people outside the door. We got into the line of people who had not bought tickets yet. After waiting in line for quite a while and watching people who had bought tickets being let in multiple times. I asked the employee who was directing people at what point would the non-ticket holders be allowed to purchase tickets, his response was he didn t know. What was the point of having people stand out in a line if you weren t sure when they would be allowed to purchase tickets? Also why were we made to stand outside, when with any other exhibit you can go inside and purchase tickets and wait in line. This was very poor planning on the museums part. I will no long attend this museum because of this poor customer service.

Unfortunately I was able to spend only four hours in there. So I could visit their main campus only. It has great collection of ancient art. I liked very much their impressionism and postimpressionism collection. The only one disturbing thing there was the light. I had a strong feeling it was set up wrong way. It could be subjective though. The exhibitions of Indian, Indonesian, Mexican and South American ancient masterpieces were incredible. Great exhibition of Islamic art.

This is the best art museum that I ve been to! The place is huge and has a lot of artwork from famous artists. On Thursdays, they have free general admission so try to go on a Thursday. They were also having a Van Gogh exhibit today. Also mask use is required and they will check your temperature before you go in.

A fine variety of art from different periods and artists. Disappointed in the tiered ticket prices for different exhibits ($15 for general admission and another $30 for the Michaelangelo exhibit) but still enjoyed the basic tour. The cafe was enjoyable as well with a great selection of snacks or full meals.

Check out the Home - So Different, So Appealing exhibit before it ends on January 21, 2018. Very well done with some very thought provoking pieces and powerful stories. Makes you pause and think of what makes a home, what life is like for the many without, and how striving for a home changes you. Make sure to see the piece of a sliver of a home, the piece made of clay, and the conversation between father and son in their different homes.

Van Gogh exhibit with some lesser know works and a couple of classics. One whole room is reproductions... Which is frustrating, as is the way the audio tour is set up where you have to climb over people to access audio. Interactive kids' room is best part.

MFA - Houston is an amazing museum. With an amazing collection of artworks from all over the world, and an astonishing array of Pre-Columbian artifacts, not to mention fantastic exhibits and gorgeous art from a variety of eras, this is a Houston treasure that is a must-see.

Not to mention, there's a great little restaurant where you can sit down and have a delicious lunch!

I enjoyed the musuem this eveing. It was my very first time there when we arrived the young lady at the desk was super nice! I felt very much welcomed. As I started my tour I noticed each section had guard workers watching and making sure rules were being followed. Then I noticed none of them were friendly at all. I thought okay well maybe its not there job to speak and be welcoming. However, I begin to notice this couple that was behind us they got the hellos and the smiles. It made me stop and think.. did we just not come in the same door??? Overall the museum itself was very nice and interesting but I didn't like the atmosphere.

Beautiful facilities. I went for the Van Gogh exhibit and it was wonderful. You could tell they had really taken their time with everything. All of the exhibits are beautiful, and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Incredible home to amazing art!

Incredible home to amazing art!
I loved exploring the depth of human creativity in and outside the museum building.
You will not be disappointed.
