Spent the entire day here... And it was easy and fun. The parking garage is across the street underneath The Glassel. You have the pleasure of walking through The Sculpture Garden to get to The MFAH. The museum usually has two rotating exhibitions and a number of permanent collections with at from around the world that are regularly refreshed. The permanent collections are full of classics, including many renowned artistic works.

There is a cafe on the premises. Lunch was surprisingly good. The security guards were friendly and knowledgeable.

This museum has alot of unique art exhibits that unfortunately are not part of the free museum Thursdays. Because of this going to this museum to see everything can get a little pricey. The free day is also really busy so get there early. There's a sculpture park right across the street from here which is nice to walk around in and has seating if you want to talk.

Gray museum with a good selection of tours! As it s always the case with most art museums, it s freezing there! I had to leave earlier than expected as I could not stand the cold. Take a jacket with you to fully enjoy your experience!

I love museums... especially one's that I live so close to. What an incredible gem in the heart of Rice Village and the Museum District. I highly recommend going, as often as possible. Even cooler...the underground tunnel from one side of the museum to the other.

Very much enjoyed visiting this museum. We arrived late one night with the anticipation of getting free admission (We read that Bank of America card holders get in free the first Saturday of the month) however because it was so close to closing time the security guard gave us two free admission stickers and told us to have a great time. Though our visit was short, we loved all the museum had to offer. Many highly acclaimed, famous pieces of art in this collection. Would love to come back!
Paid parking is available in the museums parking garage, however we just found free parking on the street a few blocks away.

Tough to say much on this one... my kids said "never again"... to be honest, this place need to find arts that can be apperciated by all ages and for folks of H-Town. Keep the political stuff away and keep learning art fun for all ages...

It has thousands of paintings and sculptures very parents. You can have a good time. Although at first I did not understand why it was divided into 2 installations and I was surprised that there was a tunnel that connected them.

Came here because my wife wanted to see the Oscar de la Renta exhibit. Fashion is not my thing but the collection was so well put together we walked through twice. The rest of the museum was absolutely astonishing. We will be back.

Lovely! I've never been to a fine arts museum before but I am so glad that this was my first one. They allow student in for free if they are there for an assignment - which I was. The exhibits were BEAUTIFUL. I never thought I would get to be close enough to touch a 3000 year old sarcophagus. It's overwhelming and a truly wonderful experience. You MUST go.

Our visit this time focused on the collection of gold objects from Indonesia, as well as the Pre-Columbian gold collection from Latin America. Both are fabulous collections: well-annotated and displayed, they provide an amazing perspective of the artistry, cultural context and complexity of these two, culturally very different areas of the world. Instructive to see how the gold collection of each of the many islands that compose the Indonesian archipelago are so distinct, and how many qualitative and quantitative differences there are between islands that are just a few dozen miles from each other. In Latin America too, there were great differences between the various indigenous cultures in Colombia, Mexico, Panama, and Peru. Having seen wonderful gold collections in Mexico, Colombia and Peru, the collection at the Museum of Fine arts provides an added perspective, by exhibiting them side by side.

The building is divided into two buildings with a cool link tunnel!
The display works are not too much overall, and there are quite a lot of special exhibitions. Overall it is still like it!

Very affordable with lots to see. If you love art you should totally visit! They have a sculpture garden too and beautiful pieces by well known artists. It is a great rainy day activity or weekend relaxer. They offer lots of discounts so I would check the website for tickets! They have free admission on Thursdays but be mindful that parking can get hectic especially during holidays or summer time. Cafeteria has good food too and all the staff are friendly and helpful. Lots of really neat exhibits go through here, all the information can be found on the website! A must while visiting Houston!

I was a bit disappointed in this museum. For a city the size of Houston, (4th largest city in USA), you'd expect one of the top four, at at least top twenty, art museums. And you'd be disappointed. For example, the art museum in Dallas is about 4 or more times as large as the Houston one. The one in Minneapolis is at least 6 times as large. St. Louis, San Diego, Boston all have fantastic world-class art museums. Don't get me wrong: The MFA Houston is "good", but it's nowhere near as good as you SHOULD get in a city this size. However, if you go, my favorite piece is the Monkey Selfie in the basement, just outside the entrance to the restaurant. Google it: it's a famous work of art.
