This hotel made me fall in love with Auckland. The staff made me feel like The Queen. I was greeted promptly with huge smiles and immaculate uniforms. At the drop of a hat they seemed to know exactly what I wanted before I was about to ask; Taxis, directions about Auckland, weather the next day... They either had crazy good intuition, or were just very experienced at meeting requirements! I will continue to stay here and recommend to anyone and everyone! Well presented rooms, restaurant view to die for... did i mention the staff?!

It was accommodation in four people one room, but it was disappointing that the room makeup for the second day was dirty that towels and amenities were prepared only for two people.
Everything was perfect from the day I told the front lady! Overall, it was a very comfortable environment.

Ok, I think this hotel is nice and I think the staff are friendly and helpful. BUT.... any hotel in this day and age who charges for wifi internet access should be ashamed of themselves. $40 for 5gb is a disgrace. There is a free 200mb allowance but surely no one can use only 200mb these days - geez I have documents larger than that! For a city centre hotel, these extortionate data prices are inexcusable.

if the back office staff who initially handled my booking acted in a very cooperative manner, I wouldn't have go back to the higher management to get my issue sorted. The attitude was changed by the very friendly staff at the front desk when we arrived.

My wife and 7 year old son are in managed isolation at the Grand Mercure Auckland. The hotel room was not clean and the dust caused them both to get hay fever. The food was unhealthy processed rubbish and the kitchen couldn t even steam some vegetables for them. They couldn t get on the bus to get exercise and fresh air very often as the bookings were always full. They are glad to be back in NZ, but her stay at this hotel has not been pleasant.

Reception staff was friendly and quick. They supported and offered proper options and alternatives. Friendly floor staff. Beat and tidy rooms. Good hygiene and cleanliness in and around the hotel. Food options were limited. Good business center at 6th floor.

Just tried booking in. 30 mins later we were still waiting. Decided to leave. No faith in a stay that starts like this. Two couples in front of us were told their rooms would not be ready for a few hours despite a 2pm check in. Staff all looked dazed. lots of them wandering around not helping. Drinks glasses not cleared. Manager did not seem to know what she was doing. Getting car back from valet parking another 20 minutes. All the seat settings had been altered. Shocking. Will not be back.

Enjoyed our stay. We were given the room we requested which was great. Comfy beds, helpful and friendly staff. My only complaint was that housekeeping entered our room twice despite having a 'do not disturb' sign on our door. This needs to be respected as we felt like we were being pushed out. Floor had sticky spots all over it. Other that that we had s good time

You have a lovely hotel. Enjoyed staying there.
Only one minor problem was the glass door of the shower did not have a rubber stopper so it allowed the water to completely wet the rug. So i had to throw a lot of towels on the floor.
Overall GREAT!!!

Fantastic hotel. Great location. Enjoyed my stay. Just difficult for drop off and pickup as it's on the main road and has no designated drop off zone. Gym also very average but does the job.

The staff are incredibly gracious- from check in to room service to breakfast hostess- they should all be commended. Not only do they make sure all needs are met they take a personal interest in guests. The renovations are impeccable and the chill space on the open deck was welcomed by our large group for a catch up. Breakfast had many options for those with dietry requirements above and beyond what you come to expect with a buffet when travelling. Amenities in the rooms are lovely. Quality of bedding superb. Highly reccomend!

I'm a platinum member and I stayed from 26-29/Jul in room 302/303 and I didn't get any upgrade of the rooms ( I just received the type rooms I booked). Hilton program is better and next time I will book Hilton.

Beautiful interiors and excellent service here, conveniently in downtown Auckland. Be aware, however, that there's no parking underneath the hotel so there is either valet parking for $40 NZD or parking garages nearby

I stayed one night at the Grand Mercure Auckland by myself as I was boarding a cruise ship the following day. My experience was lovely. I felt very comfortable, safe and was treated well by the staff.
Being alone I was looking for something not too expensive but still nice, private and well presented.
The price was affordable for what you get in my opinion, and the Free Wifi after joining Accorehotels, was super easy and the connection was fast. This is especially helpful because I didn't have phone service and didn't want to pay extra for wifi. The surrounding areas are fine and extremely close to the cruise ship terminal which is directly behind the hotel.

I pass this hotel every morning and watched it being renovated over the past few weeks. This morning I was thrilled to see they have opened a very nice cafe at the entrance called Custom lane. The food here looks great and the organic coffee is GREAT. I couldn't walk past without trying it.

I went for a meal the Irish bartender immediately made my waters break I wasn't even pregnant if you know what I mean. The staff were super helpful they immediately attended to my needs and put a wet floor sign in my vicinity. The bartender was then kidnapped by the yakuza at that point I was scared and became dry yet the service remained impeccable. Overall would reccomend to everyone. Even the yakuza were impressed with the venue. Great venue overall, they even put toilets in the cocaine room

The attention in the reception, the rooms amolias and well ordered. The location is excellent because it is next to the docks, in the center near the businesses of la.zona, the banks. Everything to the.mano. the airport bus pars in the same block. Everything seemed perfect to me. Only some minimal detail.of the bathroom doors, which are very modern but not entirely practical. We were in two. Opportunities on this trip.

Shed 10 where our ship will dock is literally two blocks away. Great restaurants close by. Wonderful buffet breakfast. The entire hotel is so clean that it sparkles. We came in at 1:00am from a long flight and the person at the desk was very kind and helpful.

Wonderful hotel conveniently positioned in Auckland s CBD making it perfect for accessing the city s culture, shopping and entertainment scene. Our room was stylish, clean and comfortable although we did have to evacuate the building twice because of a false fire alarm - better safe than sorry but at 1:30 a.m., it wasn t the greatest experience. The staff handled the situation professionally and efficiently. Breakfast at the Grand Mercure is a buffet style at the Vue restaurant on the 13th floor and is totally worth it!l the food selection was incredible and there were many GF options for my wife who is Coeliac and we were so impressed with the helpful staff, particularly Rayon, who went above and beyond to make our breakfast experience extra special.

I stayed in a superior room. The check in/out was efficient. I was offered and early check in which was welcome. The staff are friendly and helpful. The room was small, similar in size to those I am used to in the Ibis brand, and did not seem to be 32 square meters is size. The room was city side and did not have double glazing, meaning there was some street noise. I did not have breakfast. Lunch and dinner at the hotel were of good quality. The view from the restaurant over the harbour was lovely.

This hotel was really great. I had asked for some special requests and they dealt with them amazingly. So friendly and helpful they made our stay very special. The room was great, bathroom especially, great shower gels and shower facility. View was awesome. I have no complaints so I have to give 5 star. I hope they read this review!

Magnificent hotel, true mirrors in the bathrooms, view of Skytower at night time is dazzling, a well equipped gym. But for heaven's sake, who picked these books for the hotel library? Not even one novel, and ok, I understand the "inoffensive" books about gardens and birds, but really, old tractors or "a compendium of collective nouns"? I mean I like nouns but that's a little bit over the top.

At first looks the rooms are average compared to o...

At first looks the rooms are average compared to other option in the area that are 5 stars, but there we re a few issues leading to an uncomfortable stay.
1) in the 5th floor is a 24 hour gym. We went to bed at 10:30, after a full day of travelling we were nackered. At this time someone also decided to pump some iron, dropping the weights hard to the floor. This kept us up until 11:45. Truely you could hear everything including feeling the thuds through the walls and bed. We were 3 rooms along and it s as clear as being in the gym itself. We called several times about the noise and were told there had been 4 other guest complain also, but it still took them over an hour to do a thing about it.
We said for the money being paid we did not expect to have this happening so we were shifted and given another room away from the gym with 2 coffee vouchers and got to sleep a little after 12:30am. The coffee vouchers were needed the next morning! The first night was not a nice time.
Who the heck puts a 24 hour gym near guest rooms, especially without sound proofing.
2) there is extensive construction boardering most of the hotel itself. Jack hammer, grinders, sledge hammers hitting steel beams, warning whistles from Forman s, pile driving. A full orchestra of heavy construction awaits you each morning from 8:00am till 6:00pm. And when you haven t been able to get rest from the day before, I would have been out of there if we hadn t paid upfront. This is not the place to be for a person to relax with their partner for a bit of a break and escape.
3) the new room we had been shifted to had panels from the wall fall off exposing the internal wall inside, luckily I was able to push these back in hard enough to secure it in place to stop it coming off again.
The rooms we had seen were also very average compared to their competitors we have stayed with in the area, so before all the concerns, I already felt we were not getting value. I would have paid much more to get something more comfy and luxurious for my wife. Everything appear basic.
4) the restraunt main menu had 3-4 choices on the entire menu, we sat down to dine and take in the views, saw the menu, finished our drinks and left, the inroom menu looked nicer and had a far better selection but as we were there for a break we went out and found other options along the waterfront.
5) we prepaid for the accommodation a week in advance but they tried to charge us additional things on check in and tried to charge us for the full stay again on checking out.

For 12 years I ve travelled for work and stayed in more places I care to remember, so when you do travel for a break away with your wife, you just want to relax and have a nice time,
The stay at the Mucure grand definitely did it s best to dampen our time. Though we didn t let it. We were both extremely disappointed in our overall all time there. There was always something from the gym noise and thuds keeping you up, constant construction noise and drilling, panels falling off in the rooms and trying to be charged for the room both at check in and check out for a paid for room.

Mecure boost its a true 5 Star, I ve stayed at 3-4 Star places that I felt offered a nicer stay. I really do.

So for future travels to Auckland City, we will be steering clear of the Mecure and likely any Accor based hotels after that

Already the finding of the hotel entrance was complicated by a conversion as well as the insufficient signaling. Check in OK, but then arrived in the room we were surprised at first, that a used toothbrush in the bathroom was. The next shock was the urine-covered toilet lid. While looking for the remote control for the TV, I told my daughter jokingly she should look under the bed. She finds a dirty underpants. I had never experienced such a thing. Later we were told that something had gone wrong and the room had not been cleaned.

We enjoyed our stay at the Mercure and would definitely return. Found out about the $5 room service charge after being informed the second time we got room service. The restaurant was a bit overpriced but it was great with good service. The wifi was slow, but free if you stay a certain amount of days, but only for 3 devices at the same time (which is a bit tough for a 4 person reservation). We had a really random wet patch in our room that grew, we informed staff 3 times before finally it got passed onto the manager who came and investigated himself. The workers were supposed to come and fix it, and they clearly came while we were out but didn't fix it and left a bit of a mess. Other then that we really enjoyed our stay and found the overall experience and price very reasonable.

I stayed here before the hotel had a face lift and it certainly was looking tired. But this stay I must say - what a difference some TLC makes. The renovations give the hotel a whole new feel. This hotel is in a great spot to go and do things and has many restaurants and bars in close walking distance.
Although our room was small, it had everything you would want.

Our room was very nice.(507). The paint on the tiles just needs to be removed if possible and the toilet was running after being flushed. However there had just been a whole floor makeover and tidy up may have been hurried to complete. Maybe final inspection had not been carried out. Will use Mercure again.

Great service: we arrived by car and the parking was solved quickly, bags taken and check in very quick.
Room and bathroom fine if a little small.
Location is fantastic: close to harbour and Queen's St., so easy to walk everywhere.

I booked this room based on the location and it was perfect for where i needed to be, and so close to Brittomart Station. i also had several other rooms booked by friends for the same night. Negatives are below: Ordered food from the restaurant that took an hour to get, the waitress was chewing gum like a cow, and had little knowledge of the foods and drinks except that the servings were small (this she was right about) she let us order a Heineken and about 20 mins later came back to advise it isnt on the menu and when the food came out the plate was extremely hot while the food was room temperature. Later ordering drinks from room service the wait was around 20 - 25 mins to get a few drinks to the room, and then the next order didnt come so we had to go to the bar to get it ourselves. Check out took longer than check in with a long line of people waiting, and only 1 person working, and then there was a wait of 25 mins to get our car from valet which actually took about 45 minutes and came out with damage. More than a week since i checked out - i checked out a sunday and its been a week and now is Tuesday and i have not received the release of my bond on the room which was prepaid with no charges to the room. I have had to call from Australia 3 times now asking them to release the funds and it still hasnt happened. This hotel really was great for location but i think i would have been better off further from where i needed to be, with much better service. we wont stay here again.
