Very nice hotel. The staff were excellent and the service exceptional. My only negative comment would be that the dinner menu was somewhat limited.

My experience at the Grand Mercure Auckland was extremely pleasurable and far exceeded my expectations. The hotels decor and amenities were stylish and up-to-date, the staff had amazing customer service skills and we loved the convenient location and buffet breakfast at Vue. The Valet car parking was also affordable and much easier than parking elsewhere.
Extremely rude and unhelpful receptionist the evening of Friday June 26. As an international guest relations manager, I found it preposterous that this lady was so unhelpful, Grand Mercure needs to better train their staff to always be friendly no matter the customer.
Will not be staying here again.
1) When arrival hotel no offer luggage assistant
2) Bottle Water as welcome drink?
3) Tea & Coffee no refill?
4) I din not cumsume any mini bar item but I till have the bill charges to my credit card
5) noicy cleaely hear outside bar & car passing by
6) Wifi slow if not good for your business trip
7) No one inform us the room booking information when I call to check counter agent like not sure the the details
An update on a previous review which I can't seem to edit. I'm 12 days in to my mandatory qurantine period of 14 days. It's not riveting being in lockdown, but it's definitely been made pleasant and easy by the staff. I wanna give a special shout-out to the beautiful cleaning staff who smiled cheerfully while cleaning up after people left, the awesome restaurant staff for the fabulous menu, the Nurses who were very kind and the Army, Aviation Security, bus drivers and the Police who took care of us. A tedious experience was made less so by the Hotel staff in particular. You all rock. Proud to be a kiwi!
Staff were helpful and friendly. Rooms were well appointed and nice to see a decent sized TV in the room. A wonderful experience for our first visit.
Excellent stay at the Mercure Auckland. Valet parking and the meals where faultless (the valet driver changed the radio station if I had to be picky). All up very well deserved 5 star rating
BEWARE...This hotel from the outside (and their website) appears to be a great hotel; that's what I thought when I booked it. $150 per night should have the standard amenities that 9 out of 10 hotels have, but it falls completely short.
Fitness Center looks like something out of the 1950's. Valet Parking is $40/day. Breakfast is a whopping $40 per day for nothing special. Wireless internet has a download speed of 1.2 mbps, and an upload speed of .25 mbps. When talking with tech support, they state they will "reset the connection". 5th time doing it today and still nothing. Using my Data on my phone to write this message to ensure no one has to experience what I am going through. Best thing about this hotel is the location. Lots of good restaurants/shops around, but that's the only positive.
Will never stay here again, and would advise you do the same!
This is a very nice modern place with a great staff to complement it, only there for a conference but made to feel welcome.
Great hotel to stay in. Right in the heart of the city. Was also upgraded to a Junior suite room upon check in so make sure your an accor member to benefit. Bar is on the roof top and offers magnificent dazzling unprecedented views across the harbour.
Great stay, friendly stsff and awesome view for breakfast from top floor.
Excellent hotel, service and location. Wi-Fi works but not as it should
Very nice hotel right in the heart of Auckland's CBD. Excellent staff and very accommodating. There was a city crew using a jack hammer outside at night. Even 11 floors up, the noise was bothersome. After a call to the front desk, they were able to check with the work crew and get things quieted down. Room was great with many amenities. Quality linens and towels. All in all, a wonderful experience.
We arrived after a long flight from home. We were greeted promptly. While we were getting ourselves organized the room was cleaned and we were able drop off and freshen up. I had told the hotel and the front desk that today was my mum's birthday and they sent up a birthday card signed by the staff and cake. Very sweet of them to help my mum celebrate!
I can say that now I'm back in quarantine in Sydney intercontinental the Grand Mercure exceeded the food and service 10 fold, they even took us out for isolation walks and had an outdoor smoking area. Took us 2 hrs to get in our rooms due to the lack of staff in the intercontinental only to find out we couldn't leave our rooms for 14 days. I wish I could take the $3000 fee from the intercontinental and pay the Grand Mercure instead, they deserve it. Thank you GM
Very comfortable, staff were knowledgeable and willing to assist, in all areas. Rooms were smallish but clean and comfortable. Towels were a little worn.
Hotel that is located conveniently by the harbour and is close to Britomart restaurants and Viaduct. It is also a short walk to Queen street for Shopping. To the airport, it is located just next to the Skybus stop which connects to the Airport directly or via their lounge.
Very disappointing. Arrived at 2:30pm no room available untill after 4pm. Then room stank of Body Odour. Not nice Accor group. Hotel appeared to be too full for the staff to handle breakfast was a shambles. Never did get my coffee. Should have gone out for breakfast. Come on guys you can do better.
Great service here Niraj the night manager was very helpful
I really like the Vue. Food does tend to take a while though.
Many tourists live here, opposite the duty-free shop, next to the Auckland Pier, if you like the city, it is very convenient to live here.
Pretty good. But I think the facilities might be a little tired.
Great rooms, great service and an exceptional restaurant
Right next door to Britomart and Skybus' stop 12 on Customs Street
Sorry, have to say it straight up, This Is A Nice Hotel, very convenient to everything in the city, transport hubs (Ferry and Train stations); Restaurant Precinct( Viaduct Harbour); City shopping; Spark Arena and Skycity Casino all within easy walking distance. We had a rental car, however it was parked up for entire three day stay, until 15 minutes before we departed for Rotorua.
Restaurant had great options for breakfast and great views. And yes our room was right Outside/opposite lift doors, but no one disturbed us, nor the lifts. Room had good view over City and Sky Tower.
Pamela in Housekeeping looked after our room and provided a personal touch with little notes of welcome and daily greetings. Great idea. We'll return for certain. Everyone we encountered in hotel, were friendly and helpful, Congratulations Mr Zac Lumsden, Hotel G M., you have a great team.
The hotel is in serious need of some renovation. Painting required. New carpet required. Bathroom needs renovating. Disappointing. I have stayed at other Mercure hotels that are of a higher standard than this one. On the plus side service is friendly.
All good. Very friendly check in staff and to have the lift waiting for us with door open and our floor number pushed was very appreciated.
Nice food at the restaurant. Recently renovated rooms. Our room was unusually loud though for some reason. Maybe forgot the sound-seals on the door after renovations?
Good overall. Would stay again.
Everything was good except the fact that both in the evening and morning I had no hot water and could not shower. When I informed the front desk he did nothing about it except telling me that it was unfortunate and he had received other complaints. When I asked was that all he was going to do, he advised he would notify his manager. Unacceptable, might as well call yourself Ibis plus. No where near the value of $380 for each room. I had 2 rooms.
We booked into a upper corner floor suite with ocean view - the bedroom in a separate room. The room was very nice and well-appointed on the 9th floor. The only disappointment was that the nearby nightclub emptied out at 2.00am and the noise over the next hour or so, even on the 9th floor was unbelievably loud and destroyed what had been a great experience up until that point. We enjoyed a lovely evening meal in Vue restaurant and were looked after really well. Our booking included full breakfast, which was equally as delicious.
Friendly and respectful staff, great service and wonderful location in particular the restaurant
The check-in was fast ad efficient, as was the check-out.
Staff were welcoming and friendly .
The glazing did not stop the street noise and as I had requested a quiet room prior to check-in, I was quite disappointed, you almost felt like you were sleeping on the street.
The bed was very comfortable and the pillow options worked. The room temperature was perfect - I hate hot stuffy rooms when you need to sleep, and the air-con was nice and quiet. The bathroom was a big fail the ledge above the sink - tricky and no shelves or storage space for toiletry unpacking - not under the handbasin/vanity. Shower was fine, good pressure and plenty of towels.
Stayed here with kids for a few nights upon return from China. Good and family friendly
Lots of little things that made a difference!
Fantastic breakfast with very attentive staff especially at breakfast and in the bar area.
Lovely bedroom.. love the cushion menu and the smart decor ..luxurious shower.
Prefect location for exploring the city. Room was small but well appointed.
This was a very nice hotel, amazing rooms and staff were friendly. The bar was OK, nice room setup and views but the bar selection was a bit disappointing for such a nice place
Very nice hotel with a good location and high class service. Rooms are nice and everything makes you feel like it's a top class hotel. Only down side is that it's close to the drinking scene which gets loud on the weekend, being woken up at 4am to screaming people in the streets 7 floors below was not great.
Went to View restaurant for lunch. Very nice food. Huge servings!
Nice location. Rooms are quite small but very nicely appointed.
Room was reasonable having been recently refurbished. Unfortunately double glazing was not included in the refurbishment. The room was very noisy in the early hours of the morning because of street noise.
