For me this stay was up to what you would expect when going to Mercury Hotel.
Pleasant and helpful staff
Comfortable bedding
All the useful equipment (and more)
And we were lucky to have access to a great terrace.

Despite booking a Superior Room with 1 King Bed, and paying extra for it we were provided a twin room. Never the less it was very comfortable. There was water on the carpet but the housekeeping cleaned that up - we were offered to be moved to another room but chose to stay where we had unpacked. The room was comfortable and convenient. Our best experience was in the View Dining Room where the view on the 13th floor was delightful and the food was superb.Despite the mix up on the booking we would certainly return to the Mercure.

A very comfortable stay in a well appointed room. Stayed on the 11th floor facing city side -- high enough up to dampen the noise from Customs Street below, and with an excellent view of the SkyTower and cityscape. All of the staff were absolutely lovely.

Hotel very well located down the shopping street between city center and port. Comfortable and quiet room. On the noise of the aeration is too high and becomes annoying (I had a room on the 3rd floor). Small gym and very good restaurant with a beautiful view of the harbor.

We had a bit of trouble finding the motel as we didn't feel it was well sign posted. But we did find it.
The guy at check in (we think his name was Raj) was fantastic! After there being no valet parks available he did some calling around and found us a spot (not knowing the area this was an awesome help for us). We were also offered some cool tea when we arrived. We were feeling pretty special!
We absolutely loved the room with the cosy robes and fantastic toiletries. The bed was comfy, the room was warm, the TV was easy to use. We were happy.
However the restaurant wasn't what we were expecting. We arrived while it wasn't too busy but had to wait for service the desk, then waited extended periods between staff seeing us for our order, and then between meals. The menu was a bit funny to read. The food however was yummy (and different!), even though we found it did vary a bit from what was on the menu. Overall dinner was good, but the service let it down.
Breakfast though! WOW. The buffet area was a mess. The coffee machine consistently had a line waiting as it kept breaking down - we ended up getting a flat white from the bar. Many bowls/plates were unfilled, and scraps of food were everywhere. We had to wait for cups and plates, as well as different food options. Again it didn't seem overly busy (just normal busy) so wasn't sure what was going on. The breakfast experience really let down the whole stay really.
So... Overall room and motel staff great. But restaurant a bit of a let down.

I can't thank the Team at Grand Mecure enough for my time with them for my Hotel quarantine after recently returning home from overseas.
The room was lovely, the food was much better than I expected & the Staff were always polite & friendly.
Nothing was too much trouble & I felt safe & well taken care of during this crazy time - so thank you!

They were very helpful and the breakfast was amazing. However my only compliant would be my room. There were a couple of things that were falling apart which wouldn't take too much work to fix and would bring it up to 5 stars

The Grand Mercure Auckland is close to the city center and important places can be easily reached on foot. Our room was neat and clean, staff friendly and helpful.
Breakfast sufficient as expected. From the upper floors you have a good view
Ferry Building and Harbor and on the other hand towards the Sky Tower.

Selling double beds as queen size, room was extremely small and not suitable for two adults, air-conditioning ineffective and noisy after closing window curtain. Difficult to reach the reception by phone as no one answering. The only positive is the restaurant on top floor with great views.
Would not recommend to stay in this hotel to a friend.

Enjoyed staying at the refurbished Grand Mercure Auckland. The ocean view room was quiet, clean, very comfortable and nicely appointed.
We were well looked after throughout our stay. The food was excellent at Vue restaurant located on the 13th floor and Sarah our server was fantastic. We would definitely recommend this Hotel and look forward to returning.

Despite lovely decore this is a horrid hotel.

Despite lovely decore this is a horrid hotel.
1. Paper thin walls, I heard the neighbor's every biological function, word and tap on the keyboard until 130am.
2. Broken glass on the floor
3. 1 hour to get a broken iron replaced and generally low service due to understaffing
4. Oil all down the door - ruined shirt
5. Difficult parking.....go somewhere else

Possibly the worst hotel stay I have experienced i...

Possibly the worst hotel stay I have experienced in a long time. Checked in at 3am on Sunday night and was given a room on the 2nd floor, overlooking the roadworks on Queen Street. Roadworks started around 6.30am, so you can imagine this wasn't a restful night. The room itself was large but due to this being an ambulant room, complete with sink at specific height for an ambulant person, not for a woman of 170cm. Sheets and shower curtain stained both stained.

Second night i discovered my room was connecting as for 3 hours I got to listen to the poor woman next door having a personal crisis, not sure she wanted to share this with me. I was woken up at various points during the night, again due to street noise.

Checked out and wasn't even asked about my stay, staff engagement minumum. I stay in AKL a lot for work but rest assured will not be staying on this poor representation of accommdation again. Didn't bother to try the other facilities, as had no desire to experience anything else about this property.

Great location, a short walk from Queen Street, Britomart and the harbour area with it's various restaurants. The Grand Mercure is a really well presented hotel with pleasant amenities that make going back to it after a busy day in the city really great. Would recommend for sure!

From the ease of online checkin to receiving my access cards, was a breeze.
Checking out was painless, with the reception staff being their professional selves.
What would be handy is a towel rail for the hand towels. Not a major, but something to possibly consider.

THE hotel in Auckland.

THE hotel in Auckland.
Perfect location in the city center. The Harbour Viaduct is easy to reach and the walk is very pleasant.
The hotel staff is kind and always with a clear smile on their face. Great support from one guy of the staff with red-hair.
The room is well furnished with all comfort and courtesy set. The bed is comfortable and the shower very good start a day.
The breakfast could improve in terms of bakery selection, however the view (especially at the sunrise) compensate for that.

Great stay, I ll be back there next time I m in Auckland.

Breakfast was great, parking was terrible, very difficult to figure out where to park outside of the hotel, then parking was an additional fee, but as we had already done 3 laps of the Auckland CBD I was not going to argue. Room was small but comfortable and quiet.

Good service. Like the ground floor foyer and bars, well designed to cater for several options. Room was tidy and clean. Great position by the waterfront. Like the Accor card benefits eg free drink, late check out.

The staff were extremely helpful and obliging with any of our requirements.and we found the restaurant and bar on the top floor had all that we required in the way of meals and refreshments.. With the comfort of the beds and the decor we found that we both slept extremely well. The hotel is so well located for both the train, ferry and bus services that we had no problems commuting to our desired locations. Over all a very satisfactory visit to the City of Sails!

Convenient to travel from the airport. Take the sky bus to the side of the school. Restaurants and convenience stores are located opposite the school. The back side is the ferry port to various places. The rooms are clean, new, modern equipment. There are many types of plug options available. Breakfast comes with healty food.

Do not recommend if you plan on getting a good nights rest over the weekend. I stayed here on a Saturday and endured a sleepless night from the loud bass and noisy club goers near the hotel. I was on the 5th floor but sounded like it was happening right outside my window. Did not stop until 4am!!
Nothing against nightlife but expect a hotel in the middle of the city to have soundproofing at the very least. Never experienced this in 4+ star hotels in larger and busier cities. Very disappointing.

Saving grace is the hotel s central location close to retail precinct, ferry wharf, airport bus and eateries in Britomart.

Good communication prior to arrival. We were greeted by pleasant, helpful staff at reception.

The refurbished reception area and new bar are a significant improvement, as are the new lifts.

The remodelled rooms are a great improvement over what they used to be and are very pleasant to stay in. The new communications technology and TV system in the room are excellent.

The level of friendliness and courtesy of the service in the 13th floor bar and at breakfast in the dinning room has markedly improved, resulting in a far more pleasant experience.

Because of its excellent location, we have stayed in this hotel on many occasions since long before it was owned by the AccorHotels Group, even though, up until now, we have regarded it as somewhat mediocre. Its refurbishment and upgrade to a Grand Mercure with its higher standards in every respect has greatly improved the experience of staying there, to the point that is now a real pleasure. Our congratulations to all the staff and management.

I have no reservations in recommending this hotel to anybody looking for a well located, mid-range hotel with great service and excellent rooms.

As a regular guest at the Grand Mercure, i've watched the hotel morph through the renovations to become one of the best value for money hotels in Auckland. The staff are always friendly and great, rooms clean & ready on time and the location is central to all the cool bars & restaurants of the Britomart, Viaduct & Wynyard Quarter

Staff were friendly enough. Pleasant but with a busy schedule during my stay, sleep was important to me. Outside noise at night (a wednesday and thursday) was terrible and kept me awake. Occasional hallway noise was loud and disruptive.
The most disappointing aspect was that after a long day of meetings, I returned to the room at 8pm to find it unserviced. When I called reception to alert them of the issue I was told that cleaning staff had left for the day but the on duty manager would call me. I did not receive the call or an explanation.
NB: I booked through Accor and I am an Accor Plus Gold member

Pricey for what you get. Good location. Impressive service. No free wifi

Had to stay here because of a last minute plan change and no availability elsewhere. Tried to use late-night room service, got a call later informing me they were super busy that day and didn't have any more food. Gave me phone numbers of some places I could order delivery (Not a big selection of late-night delivery places in Auckland, just FYI)

Edit: I was contacted the next evening and offered a complimentary meal, this went a long way to pacifying hangry me and I've improved the hotels rating and adjusted this review because of it)

They charge you $10 for Wifi and you only get a measly 2gigs. Enough to watch two movies basically

Parking was $40 a day

Other than that its a pretty decent hotel, if a bit over priced

The Breakfast Buffett is to die for! Do you want eggs? Poached? Fried? Smoked salmon? Do you want Dumplings? How about freshly made fruit juice that you blend yourself with a fresh selection of ingredients.
Seriously amazing selection of food to cater for all tastes.
Not to mention the view!
Highly recommend.

Lack of proper management was pretty obvious. The quality of service and the overall lodging experience, compared to other similar hotels in the area, was unsatisfactory! Especially if you consider the room rates being offered.

As I have cancelled my membership due to age this was my last complimentary night and last night as a member . Our stay with you was a fitting farewell to our Accor experience which has spanned many years and all have had great memories. May I suggest the "Fountain of Youth" be installed in your wonderful hotels to enable us to continue as Accor members. A fond farewell to you all.

Great cafe for morning coffee pity not open later. Bed was lovely and comfy. Great view from the bar. Nice and convenient location. Tv was hard to navigate. Limited in house menu. Mini bar was tiny not much tempting selection. Shower head though looked funky had a bad spray. Comfy and enough but not at the price.
