I usually do not write reviews, but we (my husband and I) were so frustrated and disappointed with the lack or professionalism that was received by the er staff at this hospital, it was ridiculous! I do have to say that the lady that checked us in, the person that took my husband to get his ct, and the triage nurses was the only ones that cared about their patients (especially the triage nurse, she cared and understood that my husband as a weaker immune system from just have chemo the week before and did not want us back out in the waiting room, and had us wait in the back until they found us a "room", really a bay.) We went to that particular location (medical center) only after we were referred there after going to the urgent care center (we were told that there was an ent on call 24hrs, was not even seen by one), if we known that we were going to be treated the way we did and would not even be seen by the ent, we certainly would have gone to the Memorial City location where we know that we would be treated as a human that needed some medical attention and did not have to be there for a whole 7 hrs just to get some antibiotics basically. The nurse that was "treating" my husband acted as his situation was a joke and that he was there just for "drugs" like he is an addict or something. He is not a person to complain about pain, be he was in pain from an infection (again having a weaker immune system from having stage 4 lung cancer and just having chemo a week before). The second dr that saw us kept on asking if my husband was a diabetic and telling him no three times, came back about 20 mins later and said that he read the wrong chart... really? To top it all off, we were "kicked" out of our bay to the hallway for another patient that they know well (meaning he is a repeat patient that goes there for "drugs"). They (nurses) do not even pull the curtains all the way closed and I see this patient walk over to the trash can in the bay to urinate more than once and they were oblivious to it all, so needless to say, we were so glad to be out of there and will not be returning if we have a choice.

Was treated like inhuman trash. Supposedly they gave me all sorts of test yet failed to X-ray my chest. Where I have THREE broken ribs. What a JOKE this hospital is. They should be ashamed. Disgusting.

After being transferred here from Hermann in cypress the medical team and everyone in the er made me feel so comfortable, from helping suction the blood from my mouth to getting me pain medication. They had an ENT come in and call the shots to do emergency surgery, he even talked to my fiancee on phone. The er dr was amazing. Everyone was amazing. After surgery they moved me upstairs where I've had amazing care from everyone. There is alot of bad reviews on this page... but you cant please everyone!

ER is horrible, waited for 8 hours and left. They treat all people like inmates. They need to realize the difference between homeless people looking for shelter and a phone charge and actual people needing care.

Although this hospital is very nice. They lack the basically skills of compassion. The first day I experienced a rude staff member who seemed to not want to be bothered at what felt like a TSA check point (covid check point at entry). The nurses are extremely rude, seem to not want to help or give you any kind of reassurance. I understand times are different due to COVID-19, but that does not mean you have to have a horrible attitude. I cannot wait until I can drop ties with this hospital. I hope that I could get in touch with a manager so that I could voice my concerns but, they seem to give me the run around. Sooo.

My 19 year old daughter went in with severe pain on the right side of her head and swollen temple, she was in a car accident a few months ago and had a concussion and black eye but they did do her a head scan then either. Well since the accident she's been having blurred vision and severe headaches and yesterday she was in so much pain and noticed a ball on her temple so she went to the emergency room sat there forever for them to only give her something for pain like they do every patient and told her follow up with your doctor. She is still in pain and her doctor doesn't have the equipment to do a head scan so what good is it. I think you should do your jobs and stop charging people to sit in your waiting room for hours and it takes you a few minutes to send them home with a pain pill. That's my daughter's car and they want to send her home with a prescription but won't do a head scan.

Came in 3 times directed by my doctor and left just like a came in. In excruciating pain and no solution. Worst ER experience ever. 2 out of the 3 times I was seen by residents and no actual doctor came to see me after I was told they will. I find them to be inhumane and not caring at all.

My husband had difficulties breathing and was there on Sunday, January 6 , around 1am. This ER was really full, it seem like a place for people to hang out. I felt like I was going to get sick from so many people coughing and the environment not being clean. The wait was ridiculous! This use to be the place to go if you had insurance and needed a through doctor and top of the line care, not anymore. This is an extension of LBJ and Ben Taub. We never saw a doctor, the wait was so long we ended up leaving. The nurses was very nice, but this hospital has really went down and it saddens me!

Hands down the worst medical center I've ever seen... Left an 12 inch long x 8 inch wide gash(which was deep enough to see the bone) open on my family member's leg for 7 hrs. No sense of urgency and completely unorganized.

I think you should really have your ER desk staff get their stuff together!! Nothing hurts more than your father being brought in to Memorial ER and having someone take you upstairs and leave you there telling you "He is in surgery" and having all of this hope in your heart that your dad has a fighting chance to then have someone come back later and tell you "Oh my bad, he is down in the ER" and then finally almost a hour later being led into the back to be told your dad passed away before he even made it to the ER. What a way to crush peoples hearts.. Giving my children false hope that their paw paw may still be holding on. I know everyone makes mistakes but this is a BIG mistake that hurt and so therefore I would stop using volunteers to handle families in situations like this!

Update: They still have the money I overpaid accor...

Update: They still have the money I overpaid according to their records and still refuse to pay back to me.

------------------

I went to this facility about 2 years ago in around April as an out of town visitor. We were in a nasty car accident. When all was done we were there for about 12-13 hours or so.

For the billing phase, they charged $8000 for an MRI, but my health insurance reduced it to $2000 because they were fortunately in my health insurance network. My Auto Insurance paid out $2500. I paid the doctors what ever left over (excess of about $700). But overall, I over paid by a few hundred dollars. So they owe me from $200 to $500. But they refuse to pay back to me what I overpaid. They acknowledge that I over paid, but refuse to refund back to me. They keep gas lighting and stonewalling the issue. We keep going in circular conversations.

Fast forward to today. I need an MRI for one of my other kids' knee. Of course I'm thinking I'm paying anywhere from $2000 to $8000. To my surprise, I am looking at potentially paying $500. And the medical staff person says it could be lower than $500. When I told her that this hospital in Houston was looking to get $8000, she was SHOCKED.

Bottom line with these types of emergency room facilities; they are the reason our healthcare cost and health insurance cost is so high. They take advantage of the fact that you need a medical emergency. And they really take advantage of you when you're in an auto accident as was the case with me and my son. I am so worried about my son that I did not care about my own care at the time; because I knew it would be expensive even with medical insurance. So I just focused on his care and delayed my own.

I do not have the answer to fighting this, but this is a start. We start by reporting our experiences to each other through these forums (google, yelp, BBC, etc.), reporting these people to your congressmen, and filing reports to our district attorneys.

We waited for hours for a condescending PA to tell us to try making an appointment with our PCP and take over the counter cold medicine. My wife came in gasping for air and wheezing and is leaving in the same condition. They did an X-ray at least. I haven t seen a doctor this entire time. And the joint is grimy. The PA at the Rediclinic at HEB insisted we come here, was trying to get us on an ambulance... but we got better, more thorough care there than we did here... right next to the frozen food aisle. What a joke. This place is going to give me a heart attack, and if it does, I will ask to be transferred anywhere else for treatment. Literally anywhere. Still wheezing and gasping and unable to feel her extremities, but sure, we ll walk it off.

Do not come here if you have a possibly serious condition. Im sitting here with my daughter who had a head injury from a car accident, she's vomiting, mildly confused, and unable to stay awake; they won't even give her a blanket. We've been sitting here for five hours now with no medical care at all

She explained everything to. And the lady THEY checked her in walked by as she was explaining and said in going On BREAK!! Not to mention the person in the next room comes out and Say shut UP with all that noise. So that's how much pain she's in.

The ER triage nurses and Dr. Yvonne Lopez at Memorial Hermann TMC Hospital treat patients very poorly. They need to be re-trained. They are unprofessional. Long wait times for hours, the nurses roll their eyes at patients, and they don't believe patients. Don't send your loved ones to this hospital because the nurses will gang up on them. Beware of the dirty blonde female nurse who does EKGs and the triage nurses.

The staff was wonderful, and the original hospital building was BEAUTIFUL! My eldest daughter was having an MRI, and was understandably nervous. Everyone was so kind to her (and me!), and worked to put her at ease. During the MRI, I was led to the MRI waiting room, which apparently was part of the original building. It had a gorgeous ornate ceiling, and beautiful tile work throughout. When I went out in search of the restroom, I found I was in the restored section of the hospital, which I didn't even know existed. What a delightful surprise! Cullen Pavilion is simply beautiful, and all the staff were wonderful (especially Jael!)!

Worst service ever...the staff is unresponsive and in a word they do not care. I never never waited 12hrs for a doctor. If I can give a -100 I would. But google doesnt let me.

This hospital is great. My husband is an iron worker at the Fermosa site in Port Comfort. He He drives back and forth to Corpus Christi everyday. He got tired from driving the 2 hours to work at 3am and back home after work at 1730. So he decided that our daughter and I stay with him at a hotel in Port Lavaca which is a 10 min drive to work. Anyways, he was trying to open a knife from the package and he stuck himself in the chest. My daughter was scared white and i started getting flashbacks from overseas. Well he was sent by helicopter to Herman Memorial and was instantly admitted. He was in surgery for 6 hours. The next day, my daughter n I had to drive back to corpus picked up some things and went came to Houston. The hospital took great care of my husband. When I got here on Saturday, he was talking, alert, sleepy from the meds, but still alert. The nurses were very nice and helpful. We felt very comfortable. A big thank you to all the nurses and doctors involved with my husbands recovery.

I spent 12 hours, mostly laying in a room while there was about 1 hour of actual doctor or nurses doing something. My problem was simple, my urinary track was not working. They put in a catheter. The next day I went to my physician and he said why didn't they just give you such and such prescription? Also, getting an appointment with a urologist with Memorial Hermann, the soonest I could get was 3 months out. Ridiculous... My family physician got me into see a urologist in 5 days.

Wow Wow this hospital is in need of extreme renovation (Cullen Wing). A friend of mine was unfortunately admitted. The room was either far too hot or far too cold. The a/c was not working properly. The wing/room had a stuffy, unclean feeling. Some of the nurses were pleasant, but not stellar. When asking another nurse for simple assistance we dread hearing this line "I'll let your nurse know" It should be a team effort to assist ALL patients, even those not assigned to you. Mind you all I wanted was ice to refill the container, and socks. Rather than get up, the PCT or whatever she was said "1st door on the left" she did not address me! I expected a "hi, hello how may I assist you" or at least a "hello" Keep in mind that I tooooo am a healthcare provider and I took mental notes as what NOT to do in a hospital environment. Unfortunately I would NEVER recommend anyone to Memorial Hermann.

This Hospital needs to be Reevaluated by the StateBoard. They are unethical!! They hve No Code of conduct. The Nurses, Doctors and Staff do not respect patient privacy or confidentiality. They laugh and make fun of patients situations. A male nurse openly laughed and judged discussing every patient including my son injury very unprofessional. We saw a Doctor who did not nothing. My son was hit by a car while walking home and has several facial fractures and a cervical fracture 3hrs later just 2 tramadol

My experience at this hospital was the worse. I spent the entire day. They have several resident doctors and nurse trainees. I had a nurse that took my blood and apparently she did not know what she was doing. She stuck the needle deep in my arm twice and I was bruised and sore. The attending doctor did not show up but once and stuck his head in the door of the room with an update and never returned. I went to the restroom while waiting and it was nasty and filthy. There was water standing on the floor. I would not recommend.

My wife and I waited over 7 hours in the emergency room WITHOUT being seen. If you have a medical emergency and need to be seen urgently, I would highly advise you NOT come here. The staff here seems like they don t know how to speed up the process with getting people treated. A whole bunch of people off the street come in and out of the emergency waiting area, strung out on drugs, half naked, with a stand by cop that sits by and does nothing when things get weird. Overall terrible experience.

This ER is like a third world country. I came in on an ambulance unconscious with disfiguring face and eye injuries. I languished in ER for 9 hours no mask no sheets. The billing dept called me twice saying they don t accept Obamacare and my bill was 28,000 and what was I going to do about it? After my surgery I got another call that my bill was now 59,000 and what was I going to do about it. By then I was on morphine felt threatened got to my room got dressed and left with 40 stitches in my face and eyes with eyepatch on. Worse care I ve ever encountered.

I have to admit I hate HOSPITALS. However I have never received treatment like this before. The staff here is amazing. From the time I walked through the door a nurse came from behind the window and greeted me named Felicia. She assured me everything was going to okay and they took straight to the back. And she came back to check on me twice. My nurse Reena WOW...she was so nice and informative. And Dr. Mustafa was awesome. I'm really impressed with the staff and the treatment I received.
If you're feeling sick & no insurance they will still see you & treat you like a human being. Thx a million for everything and I'm feeling so much better now.

I was admitted to this Hospital on Saturday even...

I was admitted to this Hospital on Saturday evening with chest pain and syncope. I have a very extensive cardiac history, suffering from a heart attack just this past August. I informed ER staff that I had a positive heart stress test just this past week at home in South Carolina but unfortunately my South Carolina Doctor didn t call and tell me my stress test was positive and that I needed to admit for a heart cath until after I was already in Texas. I of course informed the Doctors at Memorial Hermann of this but they insisted they do their own tests which they say show my heart function was normal and told me I was safe to go home and had a medical student discharge me without ever seeing the real doctor again. As my nurse was walking me out the door, she suggested I go next door to CHI Saint Luke s Hospital. At first I was afraid of how this would be perceived - I didn t want to seem like I was hospital shopping or doctor shopping but after a couple of hours of thinking and some more acute chest pain I literally drove next door to Saint Luke s and was also promptly admitted to the cardiac intensive care unit. St. Luke s did a heart cath on me the next day and to my horror I went into CARDIAC ARREST 3 times and had to be revived 3 times. My right coronary artery was 100 percent blocked. I was a LETHAL HEART ATTACK waiting to happen and all Memorial Hermann can do is have a student send me home just 24 hours before. If you want to live go to Saint Luke s hospital as Memorial Herman was a TOTAL JOKE. Teaching hospital or not I ALMOST DIED. If it wasn t for that one nurse I wouldn t be alive today. Memorial Hermann will be hearing from my Attorney this coming week and I will not rest until everyone hears my story.

I wasn't feeling good this morning so it was decided that I'd come to E.D. @ MEMORIAL HERMANN.

I was recognized, called by name and warmly greeted.

My entire team of Nurses and Dr's went above and beyond , from my treatments, side affects from the treatments and the affects.

It was revealed recently that Waldenstroms. Macroglobolin ISN'T curable but IT IS treatable.

Agree with other patients the wait is too long (6-10 hours) for the care they give when you are finally seen . A lot of student doctors and all they do is give you a short term solution such as a pain medication. But when I was in a car accident they did do thorough examination and had surgery here which went well .

I sat in the lobby for 5 hours with back spasm as I had previously been in an vehicle accident. The floor nurse refused to help me take my jacket off. To take my blood pressure. I had to tell him to cut it off. He was rude and laughed at my pain. When I tried to record his behavior he ran and the Sherrif on duty took my phone and told me it was illegal to record. I ended up laying on the floor of the lobby out door because they pushed me out there for being too loud in pain instead of finding me a bed. I got down on the floor to relive as much pain as I could. They saw me. The charge nurse came out and spoke with me. Then I remained on the floor another hour. Your OR room staff is very insensitive and your on duty sherrif violated my civil rights. He needs to be permanently removed. Time of attendance to your Medical center location was 11:25 p.m on 8/2/2019 I was discharged at approximately 6:30 a.m. on 8/3/2019.

WOULD GIVE IT A NEGATIVE RATING IF POSSIBLE! COMPLETELY DISGUSTED!
My mother went in 2 days ago (between 9 AM - 12 PM ) vomiting uncontrollably, unable to breathe, unbearable migraine. She had to drag herself up the railing at the front stairs to get to the ER department. Then upon talking to her coworker who brought her in, was asking if she thought it was this or that, concerned and in pain. Her friend told her that the front desk upon hearing them rolled his eyes at her. When they did call her back to triage, her coworker told them she was too weak to walk (kinda obvious). The guy rolled his eyes at my mother AGAIN and then brought the wheelchair.
We have a family hx of cerebral aneurysm, however they treated my mother for the migraine with fluids, antiemetics, pain meds, and magnesium. She responded positively. So they decided doing a CT was unnecessary. They did do a x-ray for some unrelated hip pain. Then discharged her before noon.
My mother, her coworker, and myself are all medical professionals who have worked in a variety of professional settings including hospitals. This was completely inexcusable uncaring unsympathetic behavior from the front desk. And a liability for the back. My mother is having another migraine today, and if it gets worse we're going to another hospital. But we'll be sure to let the med center know as well as our insurance that Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center only provided a bandaid for the issue at hand and did not attempt to diagnose the cause of my mothers problem (they told her to seek a referral to neurology from her PCP).

What goes around comes around, and one day all those people who treated my mother poorly will be in the hospital for something. And I hope they get what they give.

Had a procedure on a Monday and by Wednesday still was suffering with severe chest pains. Couldn t eat or drink without retching along with chest spasms. I waited in the E.R almost 24 hours , just to be told.... deal with it by a nurse practitioner that knew NOTHING about my medical history. I had to clue her in , she pulled up my records and then disappeared. I left Thursday evening still in pain, with no relief. This E.R is filthy , bathroom is DIRTY , patients cursing and beating their children. The nurses/doctors are not competent to CARE for patients. Their choice of words are indescribable. Goodness. I am a patient of the M.H clinic but I will never return to this E.R !

I absolutely love this hospital. I was very nervous upon entering but was made at home really quick. All of my nurses, Tasha, Ronda, Chrissy, Jasmyne, Madison, Brittany and a few others were AMAZING! There was not one question, i asked that went unanswered. They were very knowledgeable about my case and what was happening throughout my stay. Tasha was ultimately my favorite. She took the best overall care of me. She was very nice, funny, clean and comforting. I ve never experienced that type of comfort in a hospital setting before. Madison and Brittany kept me calm while preparing me for my surgery. The NICU was amazing to my son as well. Rionna, Julissa, April & Carson we re very informative and kept me informed on everything that was happening. i felt very good about leaving him with the team upstairs. They kept him clean & cozy.. I have no doubts about this hospital and I am so happy Dr. Sibai chose this facility for me. Thank you all. This was a wonderful experience and I will definitely be referring any family and friends that are in need to this facility. Keep up the great work team.

Very disappointed the way the staff have treated my husband. Broken ribs, he pushes the call button repeatedly for upwards to an hour and continues to be ignores. He finally unhooked himself from all the wires so he could go to the restroom since they didn't think he really needed to when he asked 45 minutes ago. I understand when staff are busy, but ignoring someone who needs to get to the restroom for a ridiculous amount of time resulting in him having to unhook himself just to get to the bathroom, is unbelievable. I'll never bring a family member here.

Don t recommend this hospital ...My uncle had surgery & he had to stay for couple of nights the first night he was complaining about chest pain , felt dizzy & wanted to throw up . We called the nurse about 5 times never came in we were told she was in lunch break so we expected her to come in after but she never did. The restrooms looked really dirty .

I went ER center and asked a female doctor to check my arm after motor accident. Initially it was a small pain in my arm, but she twisted my arm to take X-ray and after that my arm is dislocated and I cannot move my arm. And then they told me to have surgery to align my arm.

The experience I had was very good, although the line was very long, I went for surgery and they treated me very kindly. I liked the hospital because everything was clean and everything is available at your service. The workers treated the customers with affection and if you asked for something they gave it to you, they are also there for what you need. If there is parking for everyone, I think you have to pay but there are parking spaces available and many. I would go back again if I was sick or needed surgery because they are very friendly and take good care of you.

I waited over 7 hours in the waiting room! I walked in with 103.2 fever and body pains. They kept saying I was next also that I was the longest waiting patient. But that was zero importance. I left and am now driving to another ER in hopes to get better patient care.

I was sent here for a brain tumor from another facility. I must say that it far exceeded my expectations. Working in a different ER, I totally understand how things work when overwhelmed with patients. I see people venting about the extensive waits mostly, but unfortunately it is a level one trauma facility and can t turn down hardly anything unless on diversion status. They told me they re working to expand the facility to help, but couldn t get it done soon enough. They were very busy the night I showed up. There were numerous people in the hallway, including me. I didn t mind. The ER docs, neurology, neurosurgery team, and nurses were all great. I couldn t have asked for a better experience.

I would like to thank all those that left a review. First concern was I didn t feel comfortable being stuck more than once. If u are gonna take blood might as well start an iv which she was told they would have to start but they don t do that in the emergency room she says. After doing an EKG she sent me back out to the lobby. Now I went in there with issues surrounding my congested heart failure. As I m in the lobby I read the post with how ppl were treated when having issues with their heart and I just couldn t take a chance. Thank u!

Absolute worst emergency room I had ever been to. ...

Absolute worst emergency room I had ever been to. Was sent by my doctor due to a procedure complication looking for a stroke. Took over 5 hours to be seen. Had multiple seizures in the waiting room, no one acknowledged them or asked if I was alright, they just stood around watching. Triage nurse had horrible bedside manner. Had the wheelchair I came in with take from me, and then they tried to take the wheelchair they gave me away. I went from facial numbness to being almost completely blind in one eye, and they still had me wait for another 5 hours. Receptionist was making fun of me to a waiting room patient in front of me. Go anywhere else but here! Worst patient care I have ever received. I will never go back!

Nurse Ashley Edgar, and Nurse Martha both on the NSICU unit need to be recognized as the best nurses around. They are truly compassionate about their job. When I was scared those amazing nurses held me,. When I cried they were holding back tears and wiped the tears off my face. They did so much to comfort my family and I, and made sure my momma was pain free and taken care of properly. My mom is not going to make it sadly, but those 2 nurses helped us get by, day by day.. Starting tomorrow my mom will be living her last days at home on hospice.

The worst hospital experience ever. They dragged their feet giving my mother care. They never gave her an MRI and CAT Scan which was a rushed order from her Dr. Every hour was an excuse even 24 hrs after being there that they are backed up (really?). I told them upon admitting her that I'm staying the night. They placed order for a guest bed I never received and I slept in a chair. It was the slowest process I've ever seen. My mom's cancer was spreading and needed to see where to. I don't think the staff communicated effectively when leaving shift and didn't do job well. I've lived in other states and nothing like this ever occur.
