Existing home loan customers cannot access the advertised interest rates. They are only available to new customers. Therefore you will lose out down the track if you change your options at any time.

I received a text msg from me saying my card had been blocked due to suspicious activity on it.I rang me to find out what was going on and the guy that answered couldnt tell me where,why or when the suspicious movement on my card had happene,all he could tell me was that he couldnt access any information on what happened only that me had cancelled the card and were sending out a new one....Only bank ive dealt with that couldnt tell me what was going on...so how do you stop whoever it was,doing this again ..security seems to useless ...ps...according to my online acc,nothing suspicious has shown up..weird.

Recently got a saving account with mebank. Didn't get the bonus interest despite them having difficulties processing my account application. Called to rectify this and they agreed I should get the bonus interest. Guess who still hadn't got the bonus interest. Just not interested in being lied to. Thanks mebank, hopefully this won't be an ongoing issue with them.

Been with them now for over 10 years, I see thier different from other Banks (no branches, post office for cash deposits, my family had some trouble depositing to me from NZ. But still I like no fees, no ATM fees, they seem to be alright with interest, I don't have loans so can't comment there, all in all for me I'm happy they were nice when I spoke with them and definitely better than ANZ the only other bank I've been with who were continually finding extra ways to charge me.

I also have accounts with other banks and I NEVER have issues logging in. Your web site is always problematic. Right now Tuesday March 6th 9pm AEST it's down. Can't log in can't transfer money get balances nobody to call...
Come onnnnnnn! This is 2018 not 1978.

I could count 5 other times in the past year this has happened.

Been with Me bank for 6 years. Never had a drama. Easy to deal with. I am happy with the rates. They are an online bank. They don't hide it. They don't have branches and I've never found this to be an issue at all. They are easy to contact, and have always sorted out my issues. I'd rather give my money over to a bank that puts profits back into our super funds. Fairly simple.

Have been with ME bank from the start 17 years. We have never had a problem with them great phone service. You always talk to an Australian person so no language barriers. If there is ever an issue with their website they shut it down for security reasons. They contact you if there is unusual spending on your cards to confirm its you. Would highly recommend them. You can deposit money at any post office.

Have been a long time customer and called about our interest rates which are higher than other banks (we have 1 investment property and 1 owner occupied) and the worker we spoke with essentially spent 10 minutes arguing why we should be happy with our rates and that we can't compare our rates with another bank due to different loan terms. I was really disappointed as we have been with ME Bank for years and they just didn't care, seem to be more greedy now. Will look at changing banks for better service.

I've waited a year to post this however a year later I still feel potential customers deserve to know how 'the peoples bank' really treats people. I was a loyal ME bank customer, so much so that I had imagined the day when I was in charge of the family trust I would transfer the dividends to ME. I had a credit card, personal loan and everyday account with them. I worked full time and paid rent. In late 2016 I was involved in an incident that over 2017 resulted in PTSD and my no longer being able to work a full time job. I'm lucky enough that my parents stepped in to distribute trust payments to me so I could focus on recovery. This, with casual work - my income was more than it was when I had a full time job. After I received a Victims of Crime distribution, I paid back an extra $8k off my personal loan but soon after, I had discovered the high stress my body had gone through had made my body ill and I needed an operation. I applied for a loan that was the equivalent of retrieving the $8k back as ME don't allow you to redraw on your loan. It was denied because I couldn't prove my income even though ME had access to my account and could see how much was regularly coming in. In review, they told me once again my income 'didn't count' and none of the above was relevant. Common sense was not used at any level of the organisation to make this decision. I had to transfer all my business to a new bank that didn't have the same problems ME had with me. I was extremely disappointed at a very vulnerable time in my life and they hung a loyal customer out to dry.

Just go a sales call from Me Bank on my do not call registered mobile. When I asked politely if this was a sales call, they 'hung up' in my ear. You need to work on your Call Centre Customer Service and explain to them that Australia is not a big enough country that you can be so rude to people and get away with it! Perhaps it was just the sales guy that was bad, but this means I'll never ever use the bank!

M E bank isn t far behind the Major banks, they don t pass down full interest rate cuts they don t have hardly any branches in the country and their interest rates are ordinary to say the least, their are plenty of banks ie Bendigo which have hundreds of branches and still have a better interest rate ,than existing M E bank customers .10 years or there abouts as a customer means stuff all. I can see why they have a 2 star rating.

I have been with this bank for many years and every ME representative I have come across are respectful, patient & helpful. Nothing is too hard.
I hardly pay any fees and it works for me.
I didn't need a RC to know the Big 4 were not on my side. Changed years ago.

ME used to be a great bank until about 5 years ago, when something changed and they are now terrible once they have you locked in. The new strategy is to charge existing customers higher interest rates to subsidies their low interest NEW customer rates. The reward for loyalty is you get to pay them more so they can chase new customers at your expense. Have been sick of them for years, just waiting for a fixed portion loan to expire so I can now leave.

Tried to sign up for the bank that claims they are an online bank and am told that I need to go to a post office to verify my identification without being given a reason. I just changed my address with vic roads and it can take 2 weeks for them to send a sticker to put on my i.d. I am opening a joint account, like many people who will be doing so when they move in with their partner and cannot wait two weeks to get a bank account, what an absolute joke of a process for a bank claiming they have easy online banking.

Honestly! What part of the royal commission didn't these guys get... Deceptive, misleading time-wasting outright unscrupulous self-serving manipulative behavior to a tee,
well done Me Bank! Gold star in all of the above!

First up after an hour of my time giving my asset and liability's to what can only be described as shady Me bank Loan shark clowns They agreed totally I could easily service this already existing small Loan, furthermore all indications from Me Bank was it would be a quick easy simple and straightforward to bring the Loan across as an already existing solid Me bank Customer.
Nothing could have been further from the truth!
More than 3 weeks later after stringing me along and along and along needlessly to produce untold pages of documents millions of dollars of assets all with absolute no debt whatsoever, and income to pay the small loan out Meany times over to then decline on one technicality, wait for it! The ME Home Lone specialist was unable to read a simple company profit and lost tax report,
Ha Yes! What a Joke these child like fools are truly pathetic.
When I asked to escalate this most obvious of cases I was basically hung up on instantly!
Thanks for that Me Bank.

I have now closed my investment account that had been open for over 3 years untouched and taking my money elsewhere, which incidentally was far more than the Loan amount applied for anyway, Crazy!

Bottom line: if these inept clowns ask you for anything other than 3 Pay slips
(because that is the absolute limit to their account skills)
Hang up and take your business elsewhere,
In fact do not do any Business with this Lot, deceptive dishonest scammers far more lightly to give you a loan you can t pay back & every bit as morally bankrupt as the big 4 but totally inept also, a truly great Banking combination!
Please! Approach with extreme caution, doing Business with Me Bank is guaranteed to only end badly!

How hopeless this bank is bigg 0 star. i have been trying to ring this bank which they said its open from 9 am to 8 pm. doesn't matter what time you ring them they have same bloody massage. on two occasion i rang them. once i waited 45 tinnitus then hang up and second time i rang them right at
9 am but i still have the same massage repeat. how can they be so busy right at 9 am on the opening hours. its not like they have a huge ques on front of there bank or they cant be bother taking any call. then why they have this misleading info on their web site to ring this stupid number.

ME bank gets 5 stars for looking after their customers. I have been a long standing ME bank customer and do all my banking with them. Nothing is ever too hard, always willing to do what ever is needed to satisfy the customer and I feel like I am speaking to a human being when I call for assistance rather than your typical big bank operators that make you feel like another number!

So disappointed with this bank. Completed paperwork for a new term deposit. Me sent a msg saying I needed to call them as they'd been unable to have our funds transferred from our bank to me bank and that if I phoned they could sort it out. When I called I was advised they only try to transfer funds once and if they have no luck they simply close the new account. Clearly they don't want new customers nor our term deposit. I think their customer service is terrible, they couldn't even contact us to see if we could resolve the issue, they simply closed our new account! Oh well I'm sure numerous other banks will be happy to have our money in one of their term deposit accounts. ME's loss!!!

Steer clear. ME Bank won't pass on interest rate cuts unless you threaten to leave. If they do pass them on, they won't pass be on the full cut. Plenty of other lenders in market with better rates and equal/better service.

Closed a loan account with ME. I urgently needed a copy of the loan closure letter by email. So I requested them to send a copy of the letter to my email address. Four calls to ME could not have it done. No one had a clue where they can find the actual letter that was sent out by mail. They confirmed that the letter was sent out by mail but no one had a clue where that letter is saved/recorded so that it could be emailed to me. One person wrote a two liner himself while my wife waited on the phone. But that was that - a poorly constructed two liner without proper information which we did not ask him to do in the first place. All we need is a copy of the mailed letter by email. It has become such a hard problem for ME customer service team that after four calls and more than 3 hours on the phone they haven't been able to solve. Pathetic!

Where is the option to give zero star Google? ME Bank deserves zero star!

Constant mistakes with my loan, from issues with not being able to put money onto my redraw account, and once it was fixed caused them to take extra payments out of my account for loan payments without my consent. This was done 3 weeks in a row and they promise it was fixed, but no it wasn't. Constant issues with them.

1. System maintenance happens way too often, and often much longer than proposed time.
Leaving you with no money sometimes!!!

2. Showed less balance due to an error. Had to call can correct it!

Gives high interest but NEVER RELIABLE!!!!

After an agreement, we still get bloody calls for the same reason!!!!!!!
Don t even get me started on the rude sarcastic responses from whoever looks after credit cards.

The biggest problem we have is the lack of notice when there internet banking will be down

I had a whole day Sunday trying to access MY MONEY and we had no hope due to that issue

I m ok if it happens unexpectedly maybe once a year and I m also ok if I m informed of a planned outage thus can get some money out for situations that may arise

I ve suggested to my wife that we need to change but she likes the low fees so you ve got us for now but you are warned

I ve had a savings and spending account with ME for over a year now, and recently decided to get a credit card with them as well. I applied for a FRANK card online at around midnight and was approved by COB the next day. Every time I ve had to call their service centres I ve received nothing but good, honest, and helpful assistance with little to no wait times. I just got off the phone with Theo from their credit card team after calling with a silly question, and he was nothing but lovely and personable and sorted my issue within 2 minutes. The service I ve received from these guys will ensure that I continue to use them as my #1 banking institution, and I will most likely get all personal and home loans through them in the future.

I desperately needed a last minute interim bank statement - the usual issuing time for which is 5 business days. I phoned up the office crew, explained the situation and they sorted it out in under 24hrs while sparing me the usual screwing around and excuses Ive had in similar situations with other institutions. Cheers to Noah and Mitch on the phones for the great service and professionalism.

They really deserve 0 stars, shocking customer service, not willing to help, provide wrong information.
Always have issues with the phone app, don't show any credit transactions pending.
For a bank that is online only you would expect top of the range app.
Seem to have a system that's full of errors, and not up to scratch.

6 weeks to process my loan application from the pre-approval date.

If I could give zero stars, I would. My husband has held a personal loan with ME Bank for almost 4 years.

Last week he went to refinance. The first issue he encountered was discovering that he no longer had a credit history because these buffoons had used a previous, no longer legal, surname for his loan. We then had to hire a credit bureau to have this rectified- a long and painful process.

While we got this sorted out we organised with ME Bank to pause 2 loan repayments, taking advantage of a service they were offering to those in bushfire affected areas. This pause was done under the proviso that the paused repayments be repaid over the following 4 repayments, which has since been done.

Imagine our surprise then when our refinance application (for a smaller amount than the original) was rejected due to our account being in "arrears". Turns out that by using the service they offered we invalidated any future applications, something they didn't bother letting us know at the time. This despite the fact that the paused repayments have since been paid!

Even more surprising was the hostility shown by their Senior Loans Manager, Paul (who refused to supply his surname), who flat-out refused to give us any details about our loan history or the rejection reason, calling our questions about dates of alleged arrears (which he changed after being advised the arrears date they supplied was during their offered bushfire relief period) "silly" and "facetious".

We are honestly in shock at the blatancy of their dishonesty and refusal to be transparent. We are currently in the middle of changing to a different bank and will warn everybody- steer clear!

Rang them to explain, half assed customer service personnel didn't bother paying attention goes "well if u haven't cancelled the card it'll still have payments taken out..". arrogant.. then dumb.
Closed my account with them. don't need to deal with this quality of ppl and as it is the rudimentary piece o $hit banking "app" they offer which is really just a web page access in the form of an app.

Don't get sucked in by the cheap interest rate on new home loans, they will only jack them up on you after a few months. Been a customer for only 12 months and have been hit with two interest rate rises without an official rate rise from the reserve bank! Do not bother with ME, as they don't give a stuff about you!

Me Bank is an alright bank, though there are too many fees that aren't clearly outlined, and the mobile app doesn't seem to ever work after 12am due to maintenance issues - so if you're stranded on a night out with no money and you need to transfer from your savings to your card, YOU CAN'T. Though the guy is spoke to who informed me that i've been getting charged $10 every time my card declines because i don't have enough money on it, was very nice and helpful. He and the colour of my debit card have been the only good things about this bank.

Amateur hour! The other 1-star reviews are all pretty much spot on. Dealing with this bank has been a nightmare.

These clowns jacked us around for close to three months. During this entire time we were told verbally (by our broker) that we had unconditional approval for a block of land. Then they kept changing their mind and at one point wanted a fixed price build quote on land that we didn t own. Anyone who knows the basics will know this request simply isn t possible.

At the 11th hour (settlement pending etc.) we went to see our local Bendigo Bank. They were able to get us sorted in a little over a week.

Bottom line don t waste your time with these idiots

Do not bank with ME!!! Yes they have competitive rates but unfortunately that's where it stops. For an online only bank with no branchs they have the worst tech experience ever. The application is unresponsive and bland it is the slowest app in the world always freezing and load times are insanely slow. for a bank that is purely online I think it's pathetic that they are so behind the big banks when it comes to there online banking. With no branchs you would think they would be so far ahead of the rest because simply what do you spend your money on to improve your services??? I'd rather go with another bank with better online capabilities and access to a branch because there's no advantage to banking with ME.. don't even have android pay available

If you're looking for a new bank with low interest...

If you're looking for a new bank with low interests rates, look elsewhere. They do have low interest rates and a fairly good app, but their infrastructure doesn't support cardless cash, mobile pay (Samsung Pay etc) or international transfers.

Edited this review from 2 star down to 1 star - as have been just informed by ME they have no intention of introducing international transfers.

Rang ME Monday afternoon to get them to send an email I have nil balance on mortgage I guess asking for another Royal Commission would have been easier. I was told it would take 5-6 days. After saying that was ridiculous I got to speak to David a manager He said it was not a problem and I would get it today (Tuesday). Rang Tuesday and guess what, David had done nothing and gone home. Kath the person on the phone said it was not difficult but she could not do it as it was not our procedure. She then spoke to her manager, Chris, who though in the office, wouldn't speak to me as he was speaking to "consultants". I'm waiting on money and ME couldn't care less. They just have too much money. I'm going to cancel my cards and never have anything to do with them but I'm sure they don't care.

Don t do it. You re better off going with one of the big four banks that either don t have rate changes or will lower the interest rates. ME bank does not pass on the drops in interest rate and infact within 18 months put our interest rate up four times, when the banks did not move.
They also are a little bit backwards with some of their technologies, with regards to online banking, it wasn t the most pleasant experience being with them.
We have now remortgaged with one of the big four banks.
