Hotel was beautifully decorated. Staff was very nice. Rooms in the tower across the skywalk were decent but not as nice as the rooms in the main tower. Parking was kind of expensive.

Don't know much about this place. I work across the street from it
Very nice, clean hotel. A hot tub would have been nice though.
Nice hotel. I was here for an event, but would definitely stay.
Great view, solid service, everything a bachelor's party needs.
Actually two buildings and not well posted, nice, but nit great value
It is one the best hotels in KC. Nice and comfortable rooms. Good service and attention.
Their staff is incredibly friendly, professional and helpful. I have nothing but wonderful things to say.
Nice hotel, but nothing to do, no gift stores or restaurant.
Nice lobby, nice concierge lounge. Rooms were not as nice as I would have assumed based off of the size and location of the hotel. Friendly and accommodating staff.
As I sit here writing this review, I still have no hot water to take a shower this morning. I honestly would have been better off staying at my home 40 minutes away rather than wasting my e-certificate to give my family a fun night in the Downtown Kansas City area. It is also very sad after 85 nights at Marriott properties this year and near 700 lifetime nights at Marriott properties when I have to cross one off the list as one that we will never utilize again in the future.
This nightmare of a Marriott experience all began right after check in, the person at the desk was super helpful and nice and informed us that food would be served in the concierge lounge beginning at 5pm. Well we showed up at 5pm only to be rudely told by the attendant in the concierge that food would not begin until 530pm. Was it really necessary to be rude about it? Not only that, she also questioned whether I was actually a gold/platinum member in the process. Yes, that is why I was able to get into the lounge with my key card. So needless to say we decided not to partake in the evening concierge experience as I did not want to deal with the rude attendant again.
The rooms at this Marriott are also not up to the standards of other Marriott's across the country. I keep seeing in the standard comments from the management in the Trip Advisor reviews talk of renovations but there is no evidence of this as the rooms are very outdated compared to other Marriott properties. There is a lot of wear on the walls and the doors as well as the tiles in the tub/shower area that have been covered up with paint/spackle/caulk to make them look ok rather than just renovating. We stayed on the 19th floor of the hotel and the windows near the elevator are clear and beautiful to see out across Kansas City but the windows in the room appear that they haven't been cleaned on the outside in at least a year as they were very hazy and covered with dirt. In addition the windows let in a lot of cold air. They obviously need replaced with more efficient windows if this renovation that management speaks of is ever to occur.
The fun continued upon awaking and heading in to take a nice hot shower on this cold morning. Waiting for a good 5-10 minutes but no hot water in either the shower or the sink. Headed on down to the concierge lounge to grab some breakfast and hopefully coming back to take a shower. Arrived at 915 only to be pushed by the morning attendant that we needed to hurry and get our food as they were closing the buffet. I know most lounges are open until at least 930am - 10am but I have never been in one where the people are pushing to get you through and out so that they can clean up. As for the food, well there really wasn't anything left. I also have never been in a lounge that didn't continue to put out food until closing. What was there was hard/cold/rubbery and really not worth eating. I also want to be clear here, this is the first lounge that I can remember that does not post the times that they serve food on the door. See photos attached; do they not want to post it so that they can serve food whenever they please? I do have to say that they have a beautiful lounge so why not upgrade to an M-Club?? Those are open 24 hours and always have food/snacks/nice attendants.
So in summary would I stay at this Marriott again? No way, unless they pay me to stay there. I would have even been more upset if this stay was costing me any more than my free e-certificate and $19 for parking which I feel were wasted on this stay. I will take my business back to the Marriott at Country Club Plaza or the Raphael, both properties worth keeping the Marriott name when we are hanging out in the Kansas City area in the future. FYI, still no hot water even after finishing this review...
Service was great and the food at the bar on the lobby level was amazing
Spent the nights there with my sister and my dad there in the mid 2000s
We went to a corporate event at this hotel. Everything was included, and we had an excellent time. I would recommend for anyone wanting to host a fancy event. They had multiple conference rooms and bars. The staff was nice and helpful.
Had a conference there and it was a great location with a nice atmosphere. I didn t spend a night.
Attended a professional conference at this hotel. Space was nice if a bit older. Staff was all very friendly and efficient. Food was fine, but nothing exceptional. Location is great in downtown Kansas City.
Excellent service all around. Looking very clean and modern. Only complaint was the weak shower. The delicious "broken yolk" egg sandwich on sour dough bread more than made up for it, though.
Clean beautiful hotel with easy access to anything you need in the heart of downtown
Professional staff, clean establishment, valet service, bar and restaurant, cafe, and luxurious. Thank you for a great stay.
We recently held our holiday gala at the Marriott downtown and besides the parking the services were excellent. They were very helpful in setting up our ballroom and amenities. We will consider this hotel for future events. Anthony Tarantino - Kiewit International
Get air conditioning that works! My wife and I had to sleep with no blankets and still were a sweaty mess all night.
Beautiful rooms, great lemon water, and stinky bathrooms
Wonderful hotel, the rooms are great and cozy. The view was amazing.
Excellent downtown hotel right by the convention center. Clean facility. Great bar and lounge area with late night hours. Recently remodeled. Comfortable, spacious rooms with nice nighttime views of downtown. Rooms have mini fridges, and all the usual hotel necessities. Check out the Majestic for a wonderful 5 star meal right around the corner.
Great location, close to the Convention Center, Power & Light District, and many performing arts venues. Friendly & accommodating staff. Lobby is spacious, and casual dining available.
Checks all of the checkboxes. Very nice. Only ambience missing. It's generic, which is why travelers like it. Every Marriot is the same.
Stayed here 2 times and still do not like this place. Its in the center of downtown so you cant beat it. That s why I gave it the second star. 1st time got there about 11:00pm and they put me in the rooms where you cross the bridge. Room looked like it needed to be renovated. Old old old looking 1920 furniture. It smelled like something was burning so I called the front desk. Someone will be up they said. Took a shower and the water would not stop leaking. What the hell. Called again and told them that also. Long story short about 3:00am, about a 4 hr wait and me calling 2 extra time and asking to speak to a manager who was the same lady answering all three times, the guy finally came and could not fix nothing till the morning. I went to sleep, woke up and went down stairs and could not wait for them to ask me they great question. Well how was your day, so I could tell them how great/horrible my night went. 2nd time I was there I received valet parking. The guy that came up looked like he was fresh out of jail. He ask me how was I doing and that he would take care of me. Well he surely did. Stole my car charger and cord right out of my car. Went to the movies that night and heard a car coming down the street with loud music. A guy screaming out the window asking who would like to die today. I had to check the location I was in on my phone cause I swear I was back home in Baltimore on the block but nope, I m in Kansas City. When I got in my car the next day like I said my stuff was missing. Even though it was $15 worth of stuff I reported it and that was the last time I stayed there. I have been to every state in the United States and this is by far was the worst Marriott. Maybe if you don t valet park, get a room on the newer side and avoid cars with loud music and guys asking who want to die you might have better luck. I still love the fact that it s downtown and close to everything. Ohh and the lights on the building make it look cool. Other than that I will not go back. (Period)
No breakfast. Otherwise they would get 5 stars from me.
Nice elevator. Lacked extra touches to make me feel special. Where's my robe? No water, no wifi, no free business office
Was there for a work function and everything was great. Only was in the ball room
I loved everything about the hotel, the room was great, the service was amazing and the bar downstairs was awesome
Nice central location, very comfortable rooms and good service
Treated their Platinum Premier Elite member very well.
Service at hotel lounge/restaurant was atrocious. First night, Litzi was supposed to be our server. 7 people in our group. Over the course of 4 hours she came to the table ONE time. I had already ordered multiple times from the bar. Second night, another gentleman was supposed to be serving the lounge area we were seated in. He ignored us for half an hour. We then saw him dressed to go home and done with his shift. Went to order at the bar and it was almost after last call. He deliberately ignored our table so he could leave early. Talked to manager. She knows of the problem. Time to fire some bad employees.
Nice hotel, friendly staff, good amenities with beautiful views from the 22nd floor. Central location.
We were only there to pick up tickets at the Stub Hub location. That said, everything went smoothly and quickly!
Very nice facilities; staff pleasant and responsive
Great location! Loved the cheap, in room dining option as a business traveler that eats out for virtually every meal. It's nice not to pay an arm and a leg for the comfort of being able to eat on your room. Attentive, warm staff.
I got the best sleep of my life in that bed! Just went for a quick stay-cation but will be back as soon as we can after that wonderful experience! The views from the pool on the top floor give a unique perspective on the city. Loved the entire visit!
This place has the coolest (and confusing) elevators around.
The shower was a disappointment. It was a handicap shower and and the bench did not secure to the wall so it had to be in the tub at all times. Also the about of pressure in the nozel was not even enough to hit you in the middle of a tub. There was no way to keep the spout from spewing wter and to choose the shower head. Plus for companies wanting to go green, Marriot should invest in L.E.D lighting in their lamps as when using the laps by the bed there was a loud eletrical hum sound. I feel a highly ranked hotel should have the stats of a across the board. I have stayed at other places with better rates oland or 5 star hotels that litterly take the cake in every category. I do not think I will be be staying at another Marriot unless forced to stay. Sorry not sorry!
Attended an event here, it's a very nice hotel, but the beer prices at the event were upcharged compared to the beer prices at their restaurant. There's no reason to do that, so if you are attending an event here, buy beer at the bar in the lobby, it will save you $3 a beer.
As a Titanium Bonvoy member, if you prefer to be overlooked and pushed aside by the hordes that come here for a convention, this is the place for you. Just too big of a place and they totally ignore status, ignore you specified needs no matter if you booked your stay months in advance. They cater here to the masses.
Beautiful hotel. Great staff experience. Attended a ballroom dance competition here and the experience was wonderful.
Great location & walking distance to numerous restaurants & attractions.
A logistical challenge for larger conference due to split meeting spaces.
Great wvent he by E&I during the NEAP conference. Staff were friendly, warm and helpful. Thank you
Had to crank the heat in the room to 90 for it to be comfortable. The elevators are cool but take forever. Amazing gym. Better than many hotels.
I believe their cost is strictly location, because at least half their staff are rude, the hotel rooms don't come close to matching the size/quality, and they have lame rules like not being able to eat in the very large and not so obvious bar area with food from the outside. I understand the rule because they want people to buy from them, but they need to remember that they are in a hotel business, not a restaurant business. They could habe at least directed my family to an area we could eat our food, but we were not offered that. Their drinks and food are comperable to the price and were good.
Their hotel is also very large with no real directions. They have a map, which I was not handed when I arrived. So I had to wander frustrated to an entirely different tower of the hotel and made my way through sections I wasnt quite sure I was supposed to go to.
The room had little issues I thought made the hotel not really worth it. The AC was either not enough to keep you cool, or too much and youd wake with yiur hands and face cold. The bathroom door pretty much had to be forced closed to be locked. They have a rewards system where if you skip room seevice for 3 days you get 500 points. My tag fell off every time I entered and exited the room and I would fine it randomly on the floor when I was returning from being out.
The hotel also has a strange window design where a "bottom" window can be opened. It is a very large window and there is absolutely no safety feature so parents be cautious with your kids and warn them away.
.........
On the brighter side, the views are nice. The gym and pool are nice. The light display at night and proximity to the street car and convention center are really nice.
Great location and great views of the sounding areas. If you are attending something at the conference center you want to stay here. The only reason why I am giving it 4 stars is because the hotel hallways and room need to be updated a bit.
We had a great stay! We were there for business. Nice and clean!
Great place to stay for conventions. Hotel was very nice. Excellent staff. Fast checkin! Elevators are super high tech...kids loved them...entertaining ride for a fraction of a theme park.
This hotel was great for the night we were in town. I am a Platinum elite Marriott card holder and expected a bit more. When I pulled up valet did not greet me nor offer to help with my bags. Once I found a bellman he told me to park my car and carry my bags up from the parking garage. That's okay but I thought I was checking into a nicer more premiere hotel. Once check in I got my room key and up to my room to discover they had put me in the wrong room. I called before to request a suite with a wet bar. Overall I am disappoint. Nice property and great hotel staff at the front desk.
Pretty good location & hotel, could use minor upgrades...like bigger bathroom!
Great atmosphere, cool older styling. Friendly staff.
Great location, beautiful views, & nice rooms. Room ssrvice is very tasty & fast. Pricing is pretty reasonable as well
I stayed here for 3 nights while I attended an event at the conference center. Great location. Easy access to lots of food options, the Power & Light District and practically across the street from the conference center. Don't feel attendance were friendly and helpful. Super great service even with hundreds of people checking in at the same time. Our room was clean and had everything we needed. I loved the bed and the shower had amazing water pressure and heat. Housekeeping was awesome as well. The only down side were the elevators. Weird system where you had to select the floor before you got on the elevator. Supposedly it was efficient, but several times we waited 5+ minutes for the elevator.
First time here and it was beautiful with a really great staff!
Stayed for a VFW Convention and had a nice room on a newly remodeled floor.
The service when we arrived was less than acceptable. When we said we wanted to self park, and asked for a ball cart to unload, there were none available. We had to unload by hand what we could carry on each trip to our room. They asked is several times about parking it and we told them each time that we were unloading. Only on our final of 6 trips did they offer to help And then asked for our keys to move our vehicle. We were against the curb, so our of traffic, not in the way and already said we intended to self park. No complimentary breakfast was available. The food was overpriced. When we left, the exit was blocked for some time. Will not be returning here.
