I was here for a custom knife convention. The convention area was very nice and well put together. The rooms at the hotel are fine. Nothing special but not bad. Being in the power and light district there are plenty of places to get a delicious meal and drinks within walking distance of the hotel.

This hotel is in a very easily accessible area. This part of Kansas City is very well maintained and there are a lot of amazing places to eat all around. Checking in with absolutely no problem despite the fact that I was managing to check in 6 rooms at a time and the hotel was full for a VFW event at the time. The front desk people were very helpful, and very quick. Getting to the room with no problem, although there is a more modern part of the hotel which is under renovation that our group had to access. The rooms are very, very nice, and very spacious. Added bonus that the TVs allow you to log into Netflix and Hulu and YouTube. Very cool! The staff that works here is overall very, very friendly and accommodating. While there is not much to see right outside my window, the room is very comfortable, very quiet, and the HVAC works very well despite the 90-plus degree weather that is happening. Valet parking was quite simple to use. I would stay here again, very pleased!

This hotel is great. Walking distance to excellent restaurants and night life. Next door to the convention center. The room was very good. The staff was amazing. Attending to every detail. The club lounge is excellent (for Marriott Gold and Platinum Rewards Members).

I thought this was a great hotel! I was really impressed by the friendly staff and how helpful they were. It's nice when you're traveling alone to have help wherever it may be. I also really appreciated the FREE WI-FI in the rooms!! I hate when hotels make you pay for Wi-Fi. It's really annoying when you're traveling for work and need to get something done. So it was awesome when I could sit in my room and check emails for FREE!! I was at the hotel for a conference and they had a great set-up for meeting spaces and the food they served us was great! I would definitely stay there again.

This really is a beautiful hotel, but like most downtown Marriott's it's not inexpensive. Right in the heart of downtown KC just steps away from the convention center. Definitely worth a stay if you're in town for an event or travelling on business. Just a short walk down to the Power & Light district with great clubs and restaurants.

Descent accomadations for a weekend visit and a wedding. Hotel restaurant was ok, but the wait staff could barely speak English, which made ordering difficult. I expected better service for what we paid. Hotel is fine avoid the restaurant.

Absolutely fabulous!!! We had an amazing time. Our room was just updated, and had an incredible view of the city. Ask for a corner suite with a bumpout. It will NOT disappoint!! Super romantic.

This is a beautiful, historic building with old elevators, marble floors, and labyrinth stairways. It also has easy access to nearly everything downtown, there are plenty of restaurants and bars, plus the convention center. If you're looking for a place downtown, I'd recommend starting here.

Very nice hotel. Rooms are very modern, clean and nice. Main bar in the hotel lobby has some good drinks and friendly staff. The bell hops and front desk personnel were all very nice and helpful as well. Most important part for me was the gym was very nice. Lots of cardio equipment and machines to get a decent workout on a trip. Space is a little cramped, but still a good gym as far as hotels go. It's also on the top floor of the hotel which has some pretty cool views for a treadmill session. Overall, would definitely recommend this hotel if you are visiting KC and want to checkout the downtown area.

The hotel aesthetics are a beautiful blend of the classic and modern. From the convention rooms to the guest rooms the decor blends nicely. The Metopolitian restuarant and bar were comfortable and welcoming. The food was ok but a little expensive. I ordered most of the menu during my week stay and I can't say any of the dishes were memorable. The hotel is centrally located and with the Power & Light district only a 3 minute walk away there a lot of bar and restaurant choices. Overall a great experience.

I would have given 5 stars, but my friend and I had an unfortunate experience with one of the staff members. We were in KC for the weekend. There was a member of the valet staff named Angel. She provided the best service. She was accommadating with our needs, gave us great recommendations for shopping and nightlife. But we were both disappointed by the way she was treated by a Supervisor right in front of us. A Supervisor walked by her while we were in mid conversation with Angel and said "Angel, good to see that you are wearing black pants."
Angel was very annoyed and embarrassed. My friend and I were embarrassed for her. I felt so bad. Is this the way Management treats their employees? Why couldn't that Supervisor save that comment for a private conversation?
During our entire stay, Angel was a resource and a pleasant person to talk to. It left a sour taste in our mouths that she was treated in such a way in front of guests.

VERY nice hotel, would recommend for anyone staying in downtown KC.
Service is great, they will help with anything you need.
Building is gorgeous, just walking around was a good experience in and of itself.
Food is alright for the price, not the best around.
Location is ideal, there are interesting places to visit in every direction.
The only con is that I got denied roof access but I guess thats alright.

They put us in the tower. I wasn't super impressed. Had to take an elevator in the main building to the second floor, then walk across a skyway then take an elevator in the tower to the 11th floor. Was not very convenient.

this will be the first bad review i have ever writ...

this will be the first bad review i have ever written. but lets start with the good

upon initial check in everything was great, the lobby is very nice and the staff working on the afternoon of may 10th was extremely helpfull friendly and professional.

once i got to the room, the dissapointments started, as small as they may be, they were there, but the view was great and made it easy to overlook the little things such as, small room, very limited channel selection on the t.v. and the overly loud a.c. unit. but hey i wasnt there to watch tv. again the view was great. if staying here request a south facing room.

the night was good, the royals lost, but the power and light district was great. as we were walking through the vallet parking are to get back to the room i litterally had to pull my girlfriend out of the path of a speeding cab, not the hotels doing but when i suggestedto the staff that they call the cab company and complain it was obvious that was not going to happen. if she were a child runnning loose, she would be dead. yes he was going that fast in a controlled area. major strike one. if you dont care for your guest safety, whats the point.

strike 2, although check out time was not untill 12, i have a housekeeper banging on the door at 11, yes i was sleeping, as i mentioned the power and light district is great. so hurried up and left feeling rushed i didnt even shower.

strike 3 and the marriott is out! of my list of places to stay. upon check out there was some confusion from the recipt i recieved, it wasnt in my name. they could not find me in the system, so they wanted to swipe my card again, i was hesitant so the lady banged away on the keyboard and printed some reciept that seemed in my eyes to only be to pacify me so id hand over my card again. i did, isisting that i not be double charged, assured i wouldnt be, just as i was at check in, "oh no sir there will only be one charge on your debit card" yes i paid with debit, because i dont blow money i dont have, ill get to that.
so sunday i check the bank account, sure enough there are 2 charges on my account. i call. "this needs to be resolved immediatly" i left voicemails on 2 machines and the clerk left a note for the manager. how many calls did i get back? zero. so now, monday, needing this handled, i call them. the info was passed on to somebody, he called me back saying that the second charge was for security, even though i reserved with an actual credit card and i was told that paying with a debit card was never a good idea. so i suppose i should be like the rest of this country and live beyond my means, or this company could actually know what they were doing and convey it to the guest, when the guest asks instead of just telling them what they want to hear. luckily i have the money in the account, there will be no overdraft charges due to this, but it is still holding up my money. there was no effort to make this right, the apoligy ive recieved was less than genuine, and i wil never stay at any marriott again, ill stick to westin, i have not stayed at the westin downtown but the crown center has been a wonderfull experience, the several times i have been there.ive actually had better service, and willingness to help from best western.

so marriott if you actually care to read what your guest think, the final jist of this is let your guest know exactly what is going to come out of their hard earned bank accounts, if there is a legitimate concern for personal safety, act on it. and dont talk down to your sources of revenue because there are a lot of places that will take my money.... once, and treat me with some respect.

I won't even give this place 1 star. Bad set ice. Put reservations In a month In Advance. We got nothing that put reservations in for. I even have the email from my reservation. They said to make sure I called the front desk to verify reservation. I told them I did a week from my Bach party and I have proof on my phone. Than the manager kept on with different excuses. Plus they charged us more than what my reservation was. Very disappointed.......... ya all have a beautiful place. Get it together with what goes with the beautiful place like starting with staff. Amd reservation department. I only stay in Marriott's and this is the only one I came across with problems. TERRIBLE JUST TERRIBLE

Room clean and comfortable. Loved the shower. Front desk employee needed more training as she was saying our king room was not ready but she could put us in a room with 2 twins. Turns out it was 2 queens and they have no twin beds. A different employee was able to get us our booked king room.

They weren't very accommodating to us and we were there for a conference, we wanted to go 7 minutes away to a restaurant and they stated the shuttle couldn't take us there and they if we wanted a taxi only four people could ride in a taxi but we could call a uber very strange since there was 5 of us so we had to split up to go anywhere. As well as the water dispenser in the lobby was dirty and even when it had water in it, the fruit was also dirty you could see the dirt on the hull of the fruit. I felt they could have been more helpful just because we arrived in your city from at least 7 different states, I would not suggest we use the Marriott as one of our hotels in the future for any of our conferences.

I had my first stay at this hotel the week of the Royals won the championship. My stay was from Sunday to Thursday. I very much enjoyed my entire stay. The hotel is gorgeous, the food is superb, and the staff is excellent. Though the hotel offers a more "grown up and professional atmosphere" it was a great stay for our toddler too who LOVED LOVED LOVED the floor to ceiling windows and the great view that we had from it. The spectacular fountains inside and outside the hotel, and the DELICIOUS oatmeal cookies at the coffee shop were among his favorite things. He loved the view from the rooftop pool of the hotel as well. All around I think I have found my new favorite hotel to stay in as a family every time we travel to Kansas City. I just cannot find enough words to describe how much this hotel stay was exactly what I needed!!

Stayed here for an interview and was satisfied by the clean room and the comfortable bed. The only complaint that I have is the lack of outlets in the room. The outlets on the lamp on the desk didn't work too well in charging my devices so I had to unplug the coffee maker just to get a outlet that works. Also there are no bedside outlets so I couldn't have my phone next to me for it's alarm. Other than that I had no problems and breakfast they have is fantastic!

Zero hospitality, lack of customer service and extremely rude staff from the front desk and bar, made us feel very unwelcome. On the other side, nice room view and at the restaurant / valet parking they were very nice!

I Paid for 4 nights vacation with my family to find out most of their amenities were closed, i had to schedule our own room housekeeping, had to ask for towels, no coffee service maker in the room, no shampoo or bottle of water, had to walk to the bar to get ice bucket. And we decided to checkout early. If you want overpriced, out dated and no service, this is your spot. If you want a good hotel and great service, I d recommend Sheraton at Crown Center since we always stay there while in town. We love their hotel and their well trained staff. Super disappointed in Marriot Downtown and won t be coming back!

The hotel is in a good location. The room was nice if a bit dated and in need of a refresh, room service was all right but nothing special. Lots of good restaurants a short walk away so would recommend heading out for food.
