WIFI FOR GUEST HAS NOT WORKED in the past 4 visit...
WIFI FOR GUEST HAS NOT WORKED in the past 4 visits to MMMC. On 4/28 I brought my Windows laptop, my android tablet, my apple ipod, and my phone because I was going to be waiting a on my partner and needed to get work done while I waited, having never been able to access WIFI from general waiting areas, Nuclear medicine and ER.
IF METHODIST can spend 80 MILLION DOLLARS on EPIC computer systaem, AND, IF the "customers " are So valued and important, WHY can a hospital not have a WIFI systaem that works in waiting areas. Patients sit on there nervous waiting to be called back, yet cannot check facebook, mail, or send texts. EPIC FAIL on customer service and marketing!!!! Every device the patient and I tried to connect with, either "failed to obtain I address", or just would not pick up. I was told that the signal was not strong enough. WHAT??!!?? in 2017??? We tried WITH and WITH OUT WIFI settings, to no avail. GET WITH IT METHODIST!!!! Part of being at a hospital is waiting. Lots of it. If you can afford the new computer system and all of the training, can't you get a WIFI that WORKS?
While waiting on my partner in Nuclear medicine for a Cardiac stress test, and after EXPLAINING that I needed information, we were told an hour total, YET, after nearly TWO hours, and hearing the staff being PAID to sit around on the other side of the wall chatting and laughing, I had to shout aloud to get anyone's attention to find out what was happening , which was NOTHING!! The doctor had been unavoidably detained, which, as an RN, Do realize that it happens. That was all that had to be said. However, what was inexcusable, was leaving a terrified patient waiting on a stress test ALONE in a stretcher in a room, when their family member was stressing and waiting literally 20 paces away. The RN appeared annoyed to have been disturbed , but finally "allowed" me to go sit and wait with my partner, who was receiving No treatments of any kind, just scared, uncomfortable, and all alone, AND there was a chair already in the room. I truly hope this RN has the shoe on the other foot one day, and has to wait alone, with NO communication or information about the one she loves.By the way, the patient reported to me afterwards, that when giving the second dose of Atropine during the stress test, the same RN used a used alcohol prep pad and did NOT clean the septum of the IV site prior to injection of the atropine, which, I bet would NOT happen with Joint Commission in the building. MMMC better hope no phlebitis or infection happens at the IV site. A little something the CDC loves to call SAFE INJECTION PRACTICES, and Infection control. The tech and the doctor were wonderful!! However, I think this RN needs to go into research, or somewhere where she is not dealing with patients or families. The extra hour of waiting, with absolutely NO information, or explanation offered (your partner is not dead, we are unavoidably behind, would have been a simple place to start), is insensitive AND not patient OR family friendly. The medication reconciliation form I was handed, had NO patient signature, no patient name, and no RN signature anywhere on it, which I guess is perfect for HIPAA, because there was not One patient identifier was on it. However, I don't believe the form is filled out completely unless a patient's name or ID number is on it, and any signatures are present. The visit went fine thanks to the doctor and the technician, however, extremely disappointed with the RN care, the severe lack of communication, AND the fact that MMMC has NO WORKING WIFI on any device, in any waiting room, yet can spend millions on a new computer system, baffles me.
