Came in to ER at 2 am with severe upper abdominal, back and chest pain. Was transferred to L&D because I am 24 weeks pregnant. Was in a room for a total of almost 7 hours, all they did was check my cervix and BP, monitor babies heartbeat and give me a GI cocktail. I was checked on maybe twice in the 7 hours I was there. No fluids, ultrasounds or blood work done. Dr. Bruno came in for less than 5 minutes, I explained my symptoms and he was more worried about getting babies heartbeat (cool, that was fine but nurse already had me hooked up and we established baby was fine and that wasn t why I was there to be checked out in the first place). That s all I saw of him. Took them 2 hours to get me a GI cocktail, after taking it I kept telling them I was still in a lot of pain, my BP was high from being in so much pain and they did nothing. Nurse came in at 8am and said Dr.Bruno was discharging me (Without coming in to the room to talk with me, maybe see if my symptoms had improved or to even let me know what my diagnosis was) . I told the nurse I was still in extreme pain, the GI cocktail wasn t working and asked if they could run tests to figure out why I was still hurting. She looked me dead in the eyes, shrugged her shoulders and said maybe you ate something within the last few days that s upsetting your stomach , I instantly started crying, they did nothing for me, she couldn t even tell me what my diagnosis was when I asked. She unhooked me from the machines, told me to get dressed and have a nice day. The L&D triage has the WORST bedside manner I have ever experienced and am unfortunately now second guessing if I would like to deliver my child here in January. I unfortunately had to come back that same day at 5pm because I was in so much pain, I was feeling like I was going to pass out. The ER saw me this time and all 3 nurses were SHOCKED that nothing was done during my first visit, especially considering the chest pain I was having and my BP was 161/89. Come to find out I was having all this pain from a severe gallbladder infection. I am now taking 4 different medications, and will need my gallbladder taken out shortly after baby comes. I was in the ER for 4 hours, and despite them being packed and over worked that night all the nurses and 2 doctors did everything they could for me to find answers to my pain and to help me feel better. So thank you Mansfield Methodist L&D for costing me a SECOND trip to the hospital, and forcing me to take on a SECOND large hospital bill that I honestly couldn t afford in the first place. The lack of bedside manner, patient etiquette and honestly just doing your job correctly in the first place by Dr.Bruno and the night nurses that night were disgusting. I d like a patient advocate to contact me ASAP, as I have made several phone and left voicemails and no one has contacted me back.
