I stayed magdalena and had a bad experience. Where my room got flooded out. Great thing is that they have onsite plumbers who dealth with the issue. my varanda was extremly dirty its like they didnt prepare before hand for guest! I probably will give them a second chance. The food is gr8 though a bit on the high end.
This is the place we stay everytime we come to Tobago.
The bed and breakfast package is always a great deal. The service is good, the place is well kept, clean and super spacious. Guests can roam around the compound, it's huge, and safe as well.
The buffet breakfast at the Pembois is one the best places for breakfast in Tobago. And they serve lunch and dinner there as well , even though we are totally stuffed at breakfast, we hardly ever need lunch, and dinner is a different buffet Theme every night. So versatile.
The little souvenir shop is so cute and cozy, perfect for tourists to get their nick knacks. Their pools are amazing, perfect for tanning. The swim up bar has never been open everytime we are there, so i don't know what's going on there.
The Crusoe Bar serves nice cocktails and drinks, nice cutters too- relaxing atmosphere.
The Kalina restaurant is fine dining, and serves dainty exquisite food.
The gym is open i think 24/7 and the equipment is more than adequate.
Overall a wonderful experience everytime, and will still return always.

I've never overnighted.... but whenever I visit the service is always great. the staff are attentive and the General Manager ( Mr. Bajaj) is so down to earth. And the food! OMG! I love eating there.
The view from the room is lovely. You have a never ending supply of breezze.
The only problem is that the wireless Internet drops a little to much.
But I would recommend this place to anyone. I will be back again.

Do not I repeat DO NOT go to this place. They are thieves. We stayed here for a few days and they stole our valuables out of the safe. No joke. They are thieves. NO COMPENSATION NO SORRY. They just dont care
Spent a week there 2nd - 9th Dec. The ocean view although Atlantic was fantastic walked on the beach each morning, very peaceful. The staff were very acommadating in that laid back caribbean way. Unfortunately the hotel was tired could do with an update, it was a long time since the towels were white. There food was a good mix of local and traditional dishes so plenty choice and variety. Overall Tobago could do with better transport so visitors could get around under their own steam. It's an island you should visit with another Caribbean one, there is not much to do for a two week break there.
Needs upgrading stayed in the last set of rooms faucets and stuff needs replacing
Have to say this place is struggling to achieve a 3 star rating if at all 2. No hot water, despite every day being told "it will be fixed today" since arriving. The whole place is very tired and needing some attention. Adult only pool is half full of green stagnant water. Pool bar has no fridges, just buckets of ice water to put the drinks in. All the bars and restaurant have run out of bottled water. For our entire stay so far theres been no chicken, although it remains on the menu. There is no BBQ, so when they say its BBQ night, what the mean is theres some spare ribs on in the restaurant tonight. If you like you toast with butter on in the morning, forget it as they have run out of butter. When walking around the hotel and complex, be careful not to trip on loose and broken tiles and boards. Be careful not to fall down the hole in the floor in the bar. Beach isn't cleaned or looked after, glass and rubbish is left lying around for days.
The majority of staff are really friendly and try their hardest. The General manager tries to make you welcome and is always about to come up with excuses for why the problems haven't been rectified. All 9 couples staying here have said how disappointed they are with what was sold to them by British Airways and Virgin Holidays. For some of the couples, who are booked for 2 weeks, they are contemplating either asking to change hotels or fly home early.
Nothing in the way of an apology has been offered to anyone staying here, Just excuses.
The is a good choice for consistently good food and drinks. The Sunday buffet and a hit!
WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!
My family and I travelled on the overnight flight from NY to Tobago, and original had reservations with Magdalena "GRAND" Resort, which turned out NOT TO BE SO GRAND!
We went to some of the beaches and then decided to check in at 3:30pm, hoping to shower and go right back out. However, the bathroom was dirty and had a really bad stench.
First, the front desk agent advised that she and the housekeeping supervisor were working on getting us to another room. After 2-1/2 hours of having my 7 year old daughter sitting around in her wet clothes, I went down them.
They then showed us two other rooms: the first one was in the same condition as our original room, plus the elevator was not working; the second room, the air-condition unit was not working and they expected that it "might" be back on within a few hours.
In the end, I asked for a refund and ended up at Mount Irvine Bay Resort.
It actually turned out to be the best thing that happened, because MOUNT IRVINE RESORT IS A GEM!

Disappointing! The place needs a facelift. Service at the restaurants besides breakfast was generally poor. Great location and views. This place can be wonderful with proper management.

From the reservations manager who assisted with our booking, to the clerk who handled our airport transfer, to the check-in clerk who welcomed us and arranged a playpen for our infant, to the waitress who kept the sweater I didn't realise I forgot at Pembois, and handed it to me with a smile the next night when I returned for dinner, the service at Magdalena Grand is excellent. We appreciated the shuttle service to and from Pigeon Point Beach, especially since the vehicle was car seat friendly! We will be back and I 100% recommend the resort to anyone hoping for an amazing Tobago stay.
Location great. Breakfast the best. Access to the rest of Tobago Nil.
The sea views, the golf course, the pools, the food and especially the service. Do yourself a favor....just go!

I was a guest at the Magdalena Grand from Friday 22nd November to Sunday 24th November. 2013.
Upon returning home, I discovered I was mistakenly charged an additional $1880. I reported this incident on Monday 25th November, 2013.
The hotel has shown no concern or urgency in dealing with THEIR MISTAKE that I discovered. After TWENTY TWO days, and numerous phone calls and emails later - I have been informed today that they have no records of the transaction and I have now been told to go through the bank.
I am very puzzled as to how this situation has taken so long to resolve. The poor record keeping, the time taken to get a response, and the general lack of courtesy that has been shown to me are ample reasons for me to not return.
Please note - Beautiful surrounding and amenities are nothing without quality service!
I have tried for a long time to deal with this situation privately and in house, but I have finally had enough.
My advice to potential guests is to stay away!
There was a dead rat in the pool and three different employees were informed and they did not remove it during the whole day. The good restaurant service. Poor cleaning and facilities go down.

I was there in March spend Four days is the most disgusting place staff in the restaurant like pigs they talk to their people like they not happy with their jobs and really out of order there was no hot water on the last day I was there the house keepers needs to do more there was hair in the bathroom since I got in the room and it was there when I left some hair got stuck in the door stopper your staff needs to do better for the price u all charge lots of money for no service .yours truly Pamela.
Attentive, courteous staff. Good attempts for family, kid friendly fun. One disappointment was time taken to receive a room service order. Expect we will be back in future.

Excellent hotel and pool, only you can not go to the sea on the beaches that you have inside the hotel because all the time it is very windy. The food is good but the attention is regular.
The resort is a gem that is in a prefect location. Although the beach is not suited for bathing it has quite view. The resort is aged and the overall decor has deteriorated over time with some dire replacement and upgrading of decor needed. The rooms are well maintained and staff helpful. The resort has 3 restaurants one of which is a pub/ restuarant with alacart and buffet dining options depending on the package/plan you purchase which caters for all and offers value for money. The resort has 2 bar one of which is a elegant swim up pool bar. Suitable for couples and honeymooners. Would return once maintained and value for money is offered.
It is a nice location, service was good but the bathroom shower area is too small for me, I'm 6'4" and kept knocking the walls of the shower.
Rooms have good AC though they feel older. Wireless is all around but usually too slow to use. What drives me nuts is the breakfast buffet doesnt have any scrambled eggs pre made. So their is a queue of 50 people waiting to get the most important food item of the day. Pool is ok. Location is great with large waves and beach at the footsteps of the hotel patio

It's fine as long as you get a good deal and don't expect the quality of a major chain resort. Housekeeping in the rooms is fine, but in the public areas is poor to nonexistent, maintenance is severely lacking. Contrary to other recent reviews, there's plenty of hot water - but no cold!! Breakfast is good and the omelettes the best I've eaten anywhere for a long time.
Completely in love with this resort. The staff was very warm and welcoming. The room was ok. Breakfast was amazing and the pools are unbelievable. I will definitely be returning here.

Very nice,calm and clean place! The room was big and very clean, same as the bathroom. The staff is very pleasant and helpful! Nice and clean swimming pools and the beach is not rocky! You will definitely enjoy the time at this resort!
Very very poor service. Would not recommend this place to anyone. We waited 2 hours for our rooms (this is after the check-in time 3:00pm) then when we finally got our room we decided to order some food via room service. 3 1/2 hours later the operator called and asked if we would still like our food. All this on our first day. Very disappointing. Only got 2 stars for their ambiance
It was awesome, very quiet, I loved hearing the waves crashing on the shore and the view from the balcony was spectacular. Good food and plenty of it . Everyone should visit place. Paradise !

Dedicated and hard working staff that you can't help but like and appreciate but the facility is slowly becoming a disappointment. Clogged and malfunctioning toilets over the course of several days, wifi that lasts for seconds before dropping. Great tasty food, wide variety of delicious breakfast but that's about it.. The dedicated staff is what is saving this location.. But investment in the facilities is needed asap..
