My trip to this hotel on the 27th of December was not good, I came to the hotel @10 am on the date above and was told that check in time is at 3pm, so I had to leave the hotel and driver all of tobago ,came back at 3:00pm and my room still was not ready up to 3:45pm , asked to speak to the manager, and she took her time b4 I had to request her again, when she arrived, the manager by the name ms Campbell told me she is sorry the room are overbooked so I will have to wait

The resort is in a rundown state. The food options are limited and the restaurant staff are unfriendly and have no customer service training. There is moss everywhere, the glass is moldy, the fountain has algae, the landscaping is horrible and the beach has rubbish and smells funny. The rooms have several issues that seem to never be fixed no matter how much you beg. Down to the bicycles are poorly maintained. Prices for taxis if the hotel books them are very inflated. Do not waste your money here...

Excellent time with friends & the wait staff was friendly, attentive & courteous !

We had our family reunion dinner here and it was perfect. The staff was very nice,The price was perfect and even though our Chinese lantern send off did not go as planned. It was well worth the trip outside for the beatiful view of a full moon shining down on the Ocean on a clear nite with what appeared to be clouds shaped as Trinidad and Tobago.

Very clean and Breath taking! The food is good but the rooms are smaller than a usual International Hotel

I left the resort 6 hours ago and could not wait to write my review. The word is excellent, exceptional service. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate my family of 22 plus 5 children. I first had reservations about us having young children on the resort, but the staff made having them there seamless. The staff I am not sure where to begin. Apphia was so warm and welcoming. I feel like we left family behind in Tobago. Susan at the front desk welcomed us after each tour as we returned it was like our first welcome. Pamela, Lystra, and Chef Wendy( the fish broth) wow, the family buffet dinner was worth every dollar, Delicious. Troy and Hollis were so involved and invested in making sure we enjoyed our stay, it was hard to believe that they were part of MANAGEMENT. Great team! I know that I am missing some names, but overall, the food the rooms( Housekeeping 5 STARS).

I was unimpressed by the Magdelena Hotel when I went there after Trinidad carnival 2015. The staff in the dining room were not courteous and seemed more concerned about prepping the room for the next meal session than serving the guests in the dining room. For example breakfast ends at 10:30am. However I arrived at 10am for breakfast and not once did someone come to my table to offer tea or coffee. However at 10:30am they were ready to kick us out to clean up. Additionally the cleaning staff could do a better job cleaning the room. There was a disgusting brown ring around the inside of the toilet bowl that become a permanent fixture. The hotel need to do a better job training their staff on customer service. Some staff members were simply rude and dismissive.

A very large place. Contains three swimming pools and the breakfast is very good with a large variety of food.

Very nice, with wonderful friendly staff, room were clean and tidy, the grounds are beautifully landscaped, the pools although aesthetically beautiful could do with some power washing in some areas

Welcome to Paradise! It has been two months since our return to Canada after another spectacular stay in Tobago. Our stay at the Tobago Plantations Cluster Villas provided access to the Magdalena Grand Beach Resort and all the amenities is has to offer. From 10 kms of golf cart paths (were you can observe the many species of birds and Caiman in the lakes and ponds) to finger licking Chicken 'n Ribs and Rum Punch at the Fairway Bar & Grill. From watching the breath taking sun sets along the Atlantic ocean to enjoying lunch or dinner ocean front at the Salaka Grill. And when you need a cool down from the hot sun, Robinson Crusoe's Pub and Sports Bar has many drink choices to offer. Best of all the Tobago Plantations has some of the most friendly and helpful staff we encountered throughout our stay including Floyd, Desereen, Carla, Ava, Kennis, Avalon and Mr. Fergie and his band of merry mowers.

It has 200 rooms, deluxe and luxurious, suites, each room has an ocean view,easy access to golf course, has availability of spa services.

It was alright. We couldn't swim at the beach, too rough, the resort is rather run down and over priced. They do try, but until it's fixed up they should lower the price

I'll start by saying I went here with a group of professional golfers, so it was a blessed and beautiful time. That said, the food sucked. The relaxation itself was okay but the rooms were substandard for a place this pretty. The pools were nice but the service was moderate. The weather was also capricious. I feel like if you jumped into the water you'd have an 80% chance of death. The winds would really pick up and the rain would be sudden.

The golf resort was not as pristine as one would expect either. Still with all that said it was not worth a 2. It's an all around good time, I just have a thing against resorts, a bit. ha. Also, SO MUCH WALKING

The staff was very friendly. The surroundings /landscaping needed maintenance. There were puddles of water to get to my room. The building was rusty and not properly maintained. The shower enclosure is designed for infants. No bottled water provided in the rooms. Overall I wouldn't returned. For the class of the hotel there is alot to be done to be 5 stars

Magdalena does not live up to the word "resort." They greeted us upon arrival and asked if we wanted rum punch. We said yes, but they never gave them to us... The rooms are run down and customer service is non-existent. They provide a coffeemaker in the room, but no coffee... I don't get it. They also give you as few towels as possible, is there a shortage of towels?

When we got to the room, it was crawling with bugs and dust. We phoned and asked for a different room. They said give us 10 minutes. An hour later they send a bellhop to move us, why does it take an hour if you maintain and upkeep your rooms?

On top of that, Magdalena doesn't allow guests to manipulate the temperature in their room. We wake up drenched in sweat... look at my picture to see how hot it is and how well their AC does not work! We ran out of tissues in the room halfway through our stay, and maid service didn't even bother to replace. What's the deal?

They name 6 restaurants on their website, but that's false advertising. Only the buffet restaurant Pembois and Robinson Crusoe Pub are open regularly. The buffet restaurant is the same dining place for your free breakfast, and the pub serves frozen foods that they microwave. Not only was it gross, but the servers don't "serve" you. We asked for lemonade, and the bartender said "You want sprite?" We said lemonade, and the bartender said "you want sprite?" We assumed that was her way of saying "You don't want the lemonade, it's gross." Talk about weird...

The resort employees will not greet you with smiles and hospitality... honestly, they look miserable and as if they rather be elsewhere. Taxi drivers have better manners than they do. If you're looking for a place where they falsely advertise their products and services, come here! They advertise having 3 pools on their grounds, but we only identified one main pool and a second smaller pool. The main pool is nice, but the 6 restaurants that they boast on their website won't be there to serve you. And the front desk, that's a another nightmare. They don't even know where the business center is. It took them 1 HOUR to print our World Music event tickets... better luck elsewhere!

I spent the weekend here and it was a very good experience. The staff was great and extremely accommodating. I ordered room service and the food was fresh and delicious. I also had access to their breakfast buffet. The omelette station was a big hit. We had fresh fruits and some local cuisine mixed with some "American" styled breakfast.
The rooms were very clean and the views from my room were amazing.

My stay at the Magdalena was great. Receptionist on duty on 23rd Nov around 4pm on our check in was very pleasant and helpful, bell men especially Johnathan and also the Restaurant staff continue to serve your guest well. Hats off to Housekeeping. Improvement could be made in this area. Continuous training for new staff.
Thanks for an enjoyable weekend. My daughter and I will come again.

For a resort you should at least have 24/7 room service and at least 1 restaurant open after 10pm

There is no better resort. This place is absolute perfection. Incredible local food, 3 massive pools, amazing beach views, and a very helpful staff.

I am presently at the Magdalena Grand which I have visited several times. Absolutely love the automatic access to wifi on all devices without having to log in daily.
Hats off to the Manager and his team. Noted improvements to the facilities - Cleanliness and maintenance is to be commended.

The experience at this hotel was one that I would treasure the most for the lush green settings to the amazing housekeeping staff. My stay at the hotel was one of great satisfaction. It was not a crowded time when we booked so the entire hotel was quite n nice. Breakfast and dinner was amazing buffet style with a wide range of cuisine to choose from. I even made a request for a special dish only to have it prepared for me the next day. The pool was always nice but I enjoyed the beaches as I rent a vehicle to move around and experience the island a bit. The wine tasting with the staff to the jazz event at the bar was very entertaining and nice. For the week there was always something to look forward too at the hotel. Staff was amazing I must say. I will surely plan another vacation stay as soon as I can to this hotel. No complaints here for me. I hope they fixed the pool tables in the bar tho, they were a bit dated.

I came for some Piano Lounge Night thing. Place was empty. Bought one drink. Left disappointed.

Overpriced and overhyped. The staff was courteous, but the beach needs to be maintained better. We booked at 40% off, but Management needs to do some serious upgrades to the facility.

Beach unusable due to masses of seaweed covering the beach and 50m of the sea.
Extremely windy all day and night due to its position at the edge of the lowlands on windward side of the island.
Service poor.

The room was clean and well kept. The layout of the general hotel wasnt the best and the trek to the lobby wasnt the most beautiful. Lots of construction took away from the natural beauty of the beach. And the food was unlimited but basic. Super fresh sea food though. All together it was a nice experience and helpful staff.

There are a couple of staff who know how to treat guests, mainly the ones working at night, but most of the breakfast lot and day staff have no idea. Very rude and made us feel very awkward on our stay. It's a shame because the room and the view we couldn't fault. Although we had to move from our first room because staff came into service the room and left the door wide open as it didn't automatically lock behind them, but that is another story. Other drawbacks include it's location. It's kind of in the middle of nowhere you have to get a taxi to go and see anything. The entertainment, well you have to make it yourself, like the drinks if you want them in less than 10 mins after ordering them at an empty bar. The food in both restaraunts was very good though, The Al e carte and Bar and Grill.

We went for the Sunday buffet lunch at the resort, it is beautiful and the food and staff were great, there was also a stellar steel drum player doing a solo concert on the patio, just lovely

Everyone used to get so hyped up going here, but the place hasn't been maintained in years. I'll give it the three stars because the breakfast is still good and the staff is really pleasant. But otherwise? The AC didn't work properly, the water in the shower didn't get hot and the beach had actual garbage on it. I don't think they changed the TVs in about 10 years and the tub had no plug. The place needs some serious TLC, and definitely not worth the price point they're still charging.

My family and I were pleased with the beautiful spacious rooms. The Food was excellent. Great variety lots of vegetarian and vegan options. The staff were friendly helpful and attentive. The natural beauty of the resort takes your breath away.
