This stay happened on the weekend of the 03rd of January to the 5th of January 2020
Apart from the hotel having a great location that was it
The hotel it self was old nothing renovated and the staff seem to only have a liking for tourists and not any for the locals from their sister island of Trinidad.
The very unmannerly staff was the biggest problem. I would not advise locals to support this establishment but im sure if you are a tourist your visit would be a better experience

Horrible, horrible service. The staff at the front desk were discourteous and very rude. In a room for 4 people they only put 2 towels after cleaning the first night. I had to call down 3 times in order to get 2 more towels.

The food was ok for the better part, although the baby back ribs had pepper and I believe that once food is being cooked for others to eat, it should not be cooked with pepper. The service left much to be desired.

Golf course is quite challenging...There are 2 holes you play into the wind.. No. 3 and 13 ... Use about three more clubs.. To reach...Make use of the free bikes at the hotel....an visit the path into the mangrove!!0

Gorgeous property. Beautiful spacious beach, plenty of pools and space for lounging. Breakfast buffet included into the price of stay.
All the rooms have a private balcony overlooking the ocean which is perfect for viewing the sunrise.
The service in the restaurants and the lobby can be better. Some parts of the bathroom look worn.

Not sure where to start. Spent 10 days at the hotel.
Expected to nice sandy beaches, but the beaches were covered in seaweed for the whole stay. Made walking along the beach and bathing impossible, it was also very smelly.
bad things; had to get security to open safe , menus were not published in advance, had to book 2 of the restaurants in advance without knowing what was being offered and despite them being usually empty. Choice and variation of menus very poor fruit salad and cake everyday. lunchtime bar grill had approx the same 5 choices for main and only ice cream everyday. some staff rude. we were refused drinks by the supervisor on one occasion because the bar was closed, even though we were there 5 mins before the published time, were then served drinks when supervisor left by the friendly bar steward. Air conditioning went wrong, it took over a day to be then instructed to move rooms straight away that evening. Had to pack bags and move, had to get security to open safe again. Had to wait and sign a bill for all meals and drinks even though we were all inclusive. New room smelled of drains and air conditioning leaked all over the floor one evening. Shower water was warm up until last 2 days when it was actually hot. Most of beach furniture old and broken. No sign of the publicised water facilities.
Good points; free trips to pigeon point, good location, most staff friendly, rooms clean and well furnished, internet access in rooms (most of the time), sea views in all rooms, no fear of putting on weight because food boring,

Thank you to the dedicated staff whom made our stay at the Magdalena Grand Beach Resort in Tobago pleasant and enjoyable, the friendliness of each and every single employees definitely makes you want to comeback year after year to a relaxing atmosphere. The view in room 336 was breathtaking from sun up to sun down. Kudos to Mr. Vinod at getting the guests together with the managers cocktail party.

I enjoy visiting this sprawling low-rise resort on the coral limestone platform of this island paradise where the trade winds blow incessantly, refreshing the spirit and cooling the atmosphere. . IIt is ideal for conferences and families with a beautiful pool on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean and comfortable rooms with seaviews. Breakfast is a blend of international and local dishes although the dining room is small.

Lovely breakfast. During breakfast we saw two cats on the compound. The cats were on the chairs and walking casually around. No one wants cat fur on their clothes. Luckily we do not have allergies. Please do something about the cats.

The standards here gave dropped significantly since opening. I honestly can't say that I would recommend it at all. I'd give it a 2.5 rating, but half stars aren't available, so as a local they benefit from my bias and ended up with a 3 rating from me.

With new owners potentially taking over soon, hopefully things will improve drastically.

Visited the hotel during the night, since I was there for a supper on the grounds facing the beach. The hotel is a huge property. The entrance and main lobby is impressive. There is a nice seating area at the centre of the lobby.

The resort is a plantation theme , while it still maintains a modern and chic look. The maintenance is a bit lacking, the ac wasn't working in our room and the hotel was kind enough to give us a 25% reimbursement and had a fan delivered to our room. The nights were very cool with the fan so didn't really miss the ac. The food was exceptional, buffet style and great tasting.

The wide array of delightful breakfast items inspired by local and continental traditions coupled with exceptionally professional and friendly service make the Magdalena a definite standout among the jewels of Tobago hospitality! The lush sprawling surroundings are inviting and tranquil. Well maintained pools merge with the seashore giving the illusion of continuous aquatic landscapes. The rooms are spacious, clean with a private balcony, chiller and all standard amenities. The rates are also quite competitive.

We stayed at this place last week for three days first upon arriving I will flight got in early so we will put on an earlier shuttle from Trinidad when we arrive in Tobago we try to contact the hotel there was no answer for half an hour so we just took a taxito the hotel and then arrived at the hotel where we have to still pay for the reservations that we had originally for transportation to the hotel and upon arriving we had to add an extra room because it was a party of eight which we booked two rooms with two double beds's and the added another room and was charge more for two nights the hotel accommodation is nice the rooms are nice the bedroom is nice but they shouldn't be called a beachfront property because there's no beaches Beaches a very rocky and it had signed swim at your own risk we had to take a shuttle to pigeon point where we were able to bathe in the beach and also do beach activities but we still have to pay to get into pigeon point which makes no sense because we still have to pay to get into pigeon point so it was never free at the end of my conclusion this hotel is not a hotel to stay in due to the fact that the food was horrible the only thing nice about the hotel was the rooms the people were very nice but that's about it and everything is very pricey coming from New York staying in five star hotels I would give it zero stars

We recently returned from the beautiful island of Tobago. On this occasion we stayed at the Magdalena Grand Beach Resort and Golf Club.
This is the best hotel that we have stayed at on the Island, from the very warm welcome from Shea who greeted us with a very welcome drink and a big smile.
Our room was beautiful with with an ocean view and a bowl of fresh fruit waiting for us.
The food is excellent, the fine dining is a must - beautiful restaurant. The bars are really good, thankyou to Susan, Rodney & Limain for looking after us. Also to Nigel and Adanna at the pool bar.
But our favourite place to eat was the Salaka Grill, a huge thankyou to Pamela, Kirline, Carla, Jennifer & Lystra who were always smiling and attentive with a fine eye for detail, such a good and relaxing place to have lunch/dinner or even just a drink nothing was too much trouble.
We will most certainly be returning to this fabulous hotel.
Thankyou all so very much for making our holiday so perfect in every way.

Awful experience here! The food is terrible the service is horrendous, for a service oriented industry the staff has no training on how to interact with guest! The beach is disastrous! I ve been to hotels in Punta Cana for half the price and have had a wayyyyy better experience! Do not waste your money!

I got married on February 2nd at the Magdalena Gra...

I got married on February 2nd at the Magdalena Grand in Tobago West Indies. I had such a great time, and such a bad time as well. Take a page out of my book and DON'T do some of the following things that I did if you are planning a destination wedding. First, go through a destination planning business, even if it costs more money. Second, know that the hotel may offer you vendors, like a wedding planner to use, but this may not always be the best course of action, even if they have worked with the hotel before. My case was a bit unfortunate.

First, this hotel is actually really nice. We had a few issues, but nothing that was not resolved rather quickly. For example, we had an issue with the tub in our honeymoon sweet, that was fixed within the hour. Room Service was great. Anything we called for we received. The service industry in Trinidad and Tobago is quite terrible, but for the meanwhile, the staff at the Magdalena makes you forget about this. We stayed from Monday night until Thursday. Our wedding was on Tuesday. The person who made our time there exceptional awesome was Carineh Deokiesingh. She is a joy and a delight. She made our wedding day amazing and our stay even more amazing by getting us some special perks for our wedding. She dealt with all my pre-wedding jitters with grace and was just an amazing person. She is really the picture of perfect hospitality.

On to the wedding. The day was so beautiful. The weather was perfect. We had a lovely day, thanks to Carineh. She was there to help with a lot of details that wedding planner, Therese Chung Waldropt, completely missed. There were a few issues with the ballroom when we got to the reception. The staff there was exceptionally unpleasant, especially the manager that was on staff that night. She made everything more difficult and was unhelpful. The dance floor was a terrible mess. It broke apart while we were dancing causing a hazard. I told the general manager about this when I saw him a few days later and he kind of shrugged like it was not a big deal. But it was. Three people hurt themselves, and this could be an issue for the hotel in the future. My uncle actually told the folks putting the dance floor together earlier that day about the hazard of the poorly constructed dance floor, and again, they kind of shrugged like there was nothing that they could do. They also kept turning the lights up on us during the reception totally ruining the mood and making people think they had to leave even though we pay for the place until midnight. Again, when asked about this, the staff shrugged and didn't really listen to us. We told Carineh all about this, and she was lovely about it and apologized. At that point, there was not much that could be done.

The absolute worst part of our wedding was the alleged wedding planner that Carineh suggested to us. Therese Chung Waldropt. I feel so bad trying to write this review because I really liked her as a person, but she is not the greatest wedding planner. And this really is not a reflection on Carineh either, just a series of unfortunate events. First, I don't think she has every planned a destination wedding before, something that I should have asked her, which was totally my fault. She assured me, however, that that she could handle all the tasks that I asked her to do. It turns out, she just wanted the money. She caused me so much stress. She was an over communicator which at first I thought was a good thing. But she has a severe problem with lying. She told me that she was getting my flowers for the reception from Italy. When we got there, she barely had any flowers anywhere at all, and they still had the price tags from a store in Trinidad. She charged me a lot of money to decorate, and when I got there, she had hardly done anything at all to the ceremony site or to the ballroom. Her day of coordination was God awful. Everyone complained about her. Worst of all, I hired her to do three events for my family as this was a destination wedding and folks were coming from out of town. Big mistake!

I lived in T&T for almost 4 years, I felt like home every single day I spent there, gotta say is one of my favorites countries, I always tell people that they should experience that island once in their life time.

I went to Tobago about 6 times, I actually recommend people to support local and small places and stay with families who rent room in their houses, It a such a nice experience to live the day-by-day with them and boy, they could really cook, they make the best breakfast you could have.

My experience at the Magdalena resort was totally positive, a few rude workers I bumped into and the breakfast buffet was a little poor but other than that, I had a great few days there.

This was the 4th time we stayed at Magdalena and are always very happy with the accommodation. The rooms are comfortable and clean. No problems with the staff. They are always very helpful. The buffet is excellent with a wide choice of items. The pool and the ambience were amazing. I would like to note the name of a particular staff by the name of Hollis Moore. This gentleman was really welcoming from the beginning to the end. We would definitely choose Magdalena as the preferred hotel in Tobago. Keep up the good work.

I stayed in this hotel during Thanksgiving holiday...

I stayed in this hotel during Thanksgiving holidays. The hotel is conveniently located near the airport, but its beach front is too dangerous for children, and has lots of trash. The room is very dirty. There were black molds everywhere in the bathroom, and the white towels were yellowish. The toilet handle was broken so that we had to push it back up every time we used it. There were cigarette buds right in front of balcony (we were on the first floor), and the balcony door handle was covered with rust and sticky white stuff. I would have changed the hotel if we had time. We only had two days in Tobago, and did not want to waste time dealing with the hotel. I feel so bad that we have paid so much money to be in this filthy place. We will never go back.

Unarguably the best stay I've ever had at a resort. Front desk was so friendly and helpful. I thank them for their kindness and warm welcome. The food was exquisite, each menu had a great variety of food to choose from. My favorite restaurant by far was Kali'na. The staff took care of me and always made sure I was satisfied. What caught my attention the most was the remarkable service provided by the manager Vinod. He was always around making sure my family and I were having a great time. The scenery was beautiful. I will definitely be returning...

I recently went to tobago for the first time ever ...

I recently went to tobago for the first time ever visiting the beautiful country for my co workers wedding. I booked a deluxe double room ocean front room which was suppose to fit 4 individuals (but it does not, the beds are full size). The wedding party took up most of the "available" occupancy in the hotel. Ill explain why i put available in quotation marks in a second. Now keep in my i travel and stayed in many hotels all over the world, but this hotel has got to be one of the worst hotels ever. I dont even know where to begin, but ill start by saying the only nice thing about the hotel is the amazing view from the main pool overlooking the ocean and some of tobago. However that did not make up for the trouble i occured throughout my stay. Now keep in mind i came there with a large party (maybe 100 guest) in which i believe we all use the group code provided for us when booking the room so you would think the entire wedding party would of been on the same floor or close to each other but this poor hotel management team spreaded us out all over this large resort. My assigned room was at the far end of the resort, in which we damn near begged up until the last 2 days to move us closer, and was giving a response that there is nothing available, even with the multiple issues with the room. The hotel provided little golf carts to drive us to the rooms when needed, but was hardly available going and coming from the room. Next one of the man big problems i had with this resort is there was ABSOLUTELY no hot water thee entire stay, not to mention the water pressure out the shower and sink was extremely low. And when i complained about the situation, i was told there was a water man break on thursday (the day i arrived), there is no hot water anywhere in tobago, and its being fixed. But that wasnt the truth. They shut the water off overnight on friday claiming to fix the issue, however the water continue cold the entire stay. I was literally heating up hot water in a coffee pot in the hotel room to have hot water to wash with. And when i did suck it up and bathe in cold water i was literally showering under small drips of water out the shower head. I spoke with another hotel guest who was there over a week before i arrived and she didnt have hot water her entire stay there, and that Vinod, hotel manager was lying about it being because of a water break. I even ask locals if they had hot water run and they replied yes. I know this is late but i also then looked at old reviews online of the resort which also started resort has no hot water. So why sell these room and host this wedding without alerting us that you have a problem with hot water. I guess as long as you collected our money spent on the resort, it didnt mater. Complaining to the hotel manager Vinod was absolutely useless, he did nothing but say im sorry and offered one day refund from your stay, while i demanded for half off everynight i didnt have hot water. I definitely was not satisfied after all the issues i experienced. Another issue was when asked for a folded bed/cot because it was three single people who stayed in this room and the beds were full size beds, not big enough for 2 people, i was told it could not fit in the room and they dont have none available which was a lie. Besides the hotel not having hot water and bedding issue we i did notice that most of the entire resort was under construction, and renovations was being made. Why not close the hotel to renovate the entire place or one side of the resort, instead host a wedding party to deal with these poor accommodations and view the demolition of your resort. Pictures posted shower the issues we had as well as the fold bed provided to something who checked in after i did. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this hotel to my worst enemy and will NEVER do business with them again.

Great food! Warm, friendly and professional staff! Special thanks to Marc for making our stay extraordinary .
Great place for relaxation.
Hotel needs an upgrade though.
Lovely pools but more attention should be paid to detail as certain areas throughout the resort weren't very pleasing to look at.
A bit more maintenance and it would have been perfect!

I honestly can t believe all the glowing reviews. And that sucks because we booked this hotel after reading the reviews. Here s the truth...if you travel a lot like me and like nice hotels like me you won t like this one. This advertises at $250-$350/nt depending on when you go but it s worth no more than $150/nt. Shout out to Marc head of food and bev as well as Ferrin and Mekesha for trying to make the stay a good one. But tough to overcome bugs in the room, ok a/c, terrible wifi, even worse food that is super expensive, uncomfortable beds, generally run down property/amenities, and poor fitness center. The good? Location is near the airport and ferry, great oceanside views and pool although be warned you cannot use the beach here unless you want to be taken into the sea by the rough currents, walking/running around the golf property is nice. All in all though no chance we d stay there again knowing what we know now. Hopefully this review helps you because for us we found all the 4 and 5 star reviews to be inaccurate or at least not aligned to what we think is a 4/5 star property. Quick example. We goto one of the restaurants on the Property at 3pm and it officially closes at 4. We wait forever to be seated then wait forever for someone to come over. People are passing by us left and right but no one stops by. I then get up and ask is someone coming over??? They send someone who proceeds to tell me we can t have anything to eat because the the chef is tired . True story guys. Never had that happen before in my life anywhere and I ve been a few places. The place is not a quality spot. Stay at a bed a breakfast not here.
