Walking through the suit area the sales lady said 'excuse me' so she could continue hanging clothing, not once did she ask if I needed help. The moment another customer came in the area she greeted him and offered help. I guess I was of the wrong hue.

Iconic shopping experience in the old Marshall Fields building. Make sure to check out the Walnut Room on the 7th floor, buy a box of Frango mints (or two), shop the sale racks, the robust cosmetics counters and at the very least check out the Tiffany ceiling!

Just went in there to take photos. When I spotted the women's wear, petite section I just had to check out pants and slacks that I need for my job. Scored a pair slacks in the discount racks at 84% markdowns. These are pants I would normally love to buy but would be out of my price range.

Great Brands.
Yes you can find almost everything even accessories, perfumes, remember our Rinascente, or our COIN.
On the lower floors there are small themed quality restaurants,
For some Macy's restaurants in Chicago, it must be added that after 16:00 (04:00 pm) fresh prepackages cost half (50% off)
The refreshment section closes at 19:00 (07:00 pm)

Horrible place to go and shop. I had a horrible experience in state street for one it's so hot in there I thought I was going to pass out, needless to say you have to go on a hunting search to find someone to ring you up,and after 35min of searching for an employee to ring me up she would not ring me up because it wasn't her department at this point I asked for the store manager and waited for another 20min and manager never came to see me. I will never go back to Macy's on state street. Boy, do I miss Marshall fields!!!

We stopped while in town just after Thanksgiving. The window displays were cool. I understand the building is old but man, it needs some big rehab inside. We went down to the basement to go to the bathroom before looking around and then no longer had a desire to look around/shop afterwards. Broken floor tiles, dirty bathrooms (to put it lightly) and a funky smell. It's a nice looking building on the outside and would love to see the inside get some work down to help it match with the outside!

Nice to walk through at Christmas. Unfortunately this Macy's is getting a little tired and worn out. Parts of it even have a sewer smell. I would of rated it lower but was in the Christmas spirit.

This Macys is the "good one" of the two downtown. It's WAY bigger than the other one on Michigan, even though they have maybe the same number of floors, State street beats it by a mile with square footage and their selection of brands is literally twice as big. However their hours are usually shorter, even during the holidays and they have less staff. There have been countless times that I have wanted something or needs a price checked or a size searched for and I'm wandering the cavernous halls looking for an open register and sales person. Stark contrast from Michigan Ave where there is a sales person every two feet trying to sell you a Macy's credit card, but I rarely see anything I want.

I can say that this is the finest Macy's I have ever been to. The interior of the shop is an amazing view. The exterior is an example of a classic Chicago style building. Neat place to go for a brief visit.

It will always be Martial Fields to me. But even though it is now Macy's nothing has changed the old world beauty of the magestic Walnut Room. Christmas is a MUST to visit the Walnut Room where an 80 foot christmas tree soars up into the center of the room. You have the rich cheesecake. And a hot chocolate to warm you after huddling together as you strolled by the fabulously decorated windows in the windy cold. What a store!

I was there on 12/14, I was in the mens accessories department. I bought a scarf from a gentleman whose name started with an A. I believe it was Alexander, but that could be wrong. He was working the register about 5pm. I wrote a review to the store on your website also, with no response. He was the most rude individual. It was in regards to my rewards membership. He told me that it was my responsibility to let him know at the beginning of the purchase. Even though I had let him know before the sale was over. He made me feel like I was in the wrong. Which, I was not. I was very disappointed in this attitude from a Macy's employee.

We went to the historic Walnut Room just for the experience of it. Kids and we enjoyed the overall magical holiday seasonal experience. But other than the big tree in the middle, the fairy interaction with kids, and the souvenir glass mugs, the food was worse than decent hotel catering food and it got so crowded so fast. If we had to wait for 30-60 min just to sit down, we would have not liked the experience at all. We went in on the 22nd right before the lunch time, so there was no line. They said they take walk-ins for lunch, but I thought we couldn't make a reservation. We were sitting by the window, not by the tree and the huge room quickly got filled. We were sitting by the corner, but the table was so wobbly and looked so shabby. I couldn't really believe this is THE Walnut Room people talk about. Kids had Mac & Cheese and Grilled cheese. Hubby had their signature dish, the chicken pot pie. The Mac & Cheese was worse than the box one and the pot pie worse than the microwave dinner. Kids meal came with fruit and majority of it was canned fruit!!! I couldn't believe what I saw, but kids were happy. So I just went along, but when I tasted the canned peach, I can tell it was old. We will enjoy the mug even after the season, but the food was pricy for what we got and not sure if we want to go back.

If you go around the winter months you get to see their amazing Christmas window displays. The store is massive and have I believe 7 floors filled with anything you could need. They have a cute cafeteria on the bottom with good food or a fancy restaurant towards the top that you can dine in. Plan to spend a decent amount of time here if you like to shop.

Virtually impossible to find an employee to assist. Couldn t locate the 2nd shoe to pair w one found on a clearance shelf. When I tried to call the store to follow up, was on hold for 15 minutes and finally gave up. Horrible service!

I love this Macy's location. It's a beautiful store with great attention to details not to mention the history.
That said, I actually compared this Macy's with the ones in Old Orchard and Gurnee and this one seems to have a bigger variety of products.

Goood
