I ve skied in many places but nothing beats the place I leaned and grew up at. I love Loveland!! It has the bluest sky s and the fluffiest snow.

I got a free day pass and I really enjoyed it here!
Go here if you want to:
1) get in some skiing without carving out a ton of time.
2) eat some chicken tenders that are reasonably priced.
3) ski a bunch above treeline.
4) deal with a lower percentage of the uber wealthy.
And this review is a podcast ad. WINTRY MIX PODCAST. Not terrible if you dig winter and skiing and mountains.
Best place to learn to ski. Good food, cheap price, awesome mountains, kind staffs, skillful instructors.
Excellent local unpretentious spot with wide variety of terrain options coming off each lift, speedy system and almost never a wait (esp not at upper lifts), and very often lovely fluffy powder... you can always find untouched snow. Also easy to access location.
This is more of a "locals" place. The runs arent super long, but it is closer to Denver, plus you can park right by the lifts so bringing/walking tour dog is easy, if you get there early enough to park close.
No frills, excellent value. Helpful staff. I used the rentals and was happy with the fit after trying on a few pairs. The staff was happy to have me try on a few sizes. Thanks Loveland for being close & reasonably priced with great slopes
Loveland is an awesome place to be any day of the week. I learned to ski here and love it here. Food doesn't cost an arm and a leg either. Went on a Wednesday and had the place to ourselves. Great snow!!
Everyone who works here is so nice and helpful and grounded compared to the resort situations further west. Pricing of rentals & lift passes are typical & reasonable, and distance from Denver is ideal for a day trip to the mountain. Maybe plan ahead to build in time to stop in Georgetown, CO while in the area because the Loveland stickers have free beer & free app promos for establishments there on the back.
Fantastic! Great skiing, good food, super friendly staff!
Loveland? Do NOT ski there! Epic resorts are more your style.
Loveland is AMAZING!!! And I think I would be dead without Chris in the lesson office!!!
I got the 3 class pass this season (I ve never skied before) and today was the day. My boyfriend and I drove down from Boulder at 7:30 in the morning and still got stuck in traffic of course which made me thirty minutes late for my lesson not including picking up my rentals. I had about an hour of real panic and crying by all of the brave 5 year olds skiing down from the magic carpet... Once I calmed down I went back into the office to move my lesson because I was now super late. That s where I met CHRIS!! Chris is more than prepared for a 21 year old woman to cry her eyes out and still support her in her dreams to ski! He was the nicest most motivating person in the world and he got me right back outside to a newby adult group in time for me to practice a wedge. I had so much fun and such a wonderful experience for the rest of the day. Shoutout to Dan for being an EXCELLENT instructor who caught me up right away, I m basically a pro now and it s all thanks to the fantastic family working hard at Loveland Ski Resort!!
50/10 HIGHLY recommend
My favorite place to ski thanks for all the great memories my kids and I have made!
The wonderful ski area, I enjoy every moment in this place, the staff is friendly and helpful and such a great trails with breathtaking views
Great place to ski
Affordable and big enough for all levels
Great overall slopes. Easy access, wide open runs & overall great experience
Great ski resort.. not very crowded.. lifts are plenty and good food.. ski all day here! We will be back!
First time here and our 2nd ski trip in about 20 years! Don't have much to compare to but we had a wonderful time here. Beautiful weather & perfect snow. It was spring break but people were spread out and the lift lines moved very fast. I only noticed the crowds when we ate lunch at the Basin lodge.
We parked at the Valley around 8:00 which was an hour before the lifts opened. We sat in the lodge and enjoyed a cup of hot cocoa. We loved the Valley's runs. Since we are newer to skiing there were plenty of easier runs for us.
We took the shuttle to the Basin for lunch and stayed the rest of the afternoon. Absolutely LOVED the ptarmigan lift!!! Gorgeous views at the top!!!! And still had access to a green run. We got hot cocoa at the small cafe too. Waited about 20 minutes to get this but it was a nice break from the wind.
We rented our ski gear at a shop in Idaho Springs because it was cheaper so I can't comment on their gear. We also got free tickets from a friend but I've heard it's one of the more affordable resorts and it's so close to Denver! I would recommend checking out the 4 pack deal that is available before the season starts.
The lifts were fine but there are no safety bars but that didn't bother us. It also would have been nice if the lift worked that connects the Valley and Basin.
But to sum it up, we loved it and will go back! Thanks Loveland!
If you like short lift lines, lots of terrain, friendly staff, courteous skiers and a good price.. You've found it!
Did a demo day of performance skis. Staff was super helpful. I would like to have tried performance boots to go with the skis.
Friendly helpful but cafeteria and eating area very crowded at lunchtime
Great amount of trails, as well as every difficulty at the highest peaks.
Very good classes for little kids at the Loveland ski school
Staff was super friendly and especially Lauren my groups personal trainer. She was so patient with us.
I went skiing for the first time at Loveland. Not only are the instructors and staff great and knowledgeable (they helped me on shin bump and then how to figure out why I was getting loose on downhills), the grounds are also very nice. Priced well, rental equipment is in good condition, staff always around to help.
Tips:
First: If you can, go during the week! The place gets packed on the weekends.
Second: Also, if you're new, or if you're with new folks in your group, take advantage of the valley over the basin: you still have some blue squares over there that aren't heavily trafficked (a plus), and your other group members can go on All Smiles and have a blast--and gain confidence to eventually move to the Basin. The Basin can be full of VERY new people that can make for some bad situations; there were many times I had to cut hard and spill due to someone not watching where they were going, or stopping in the middle of a narrow area to chat/rest.
And that leads to the third tip: Use the Valley if you're just getting to blue squares! This is something I wish we had done, as the Basin gets packed on the weekend; the Valley was basically empty. You can do your confidence runs down All Smiles, and then move over to the harder pistes without worry.
Fourth tip: If you do find yourself at the Basin and it's packed, consider moving up to Ptarmigan and only working down to lift 2 or lift 6. It will be cold, it will probably be VERY windy, but it'll be great snow, not as packed, and with a selection of squares and circles. READ THE MAP WHEN YOU GET OFF THE LIFT! While there are great signs at the beginning of the Ptarmigan area, they are not so great once you get out of the meadow/whatever. You could find yourself on a blue when you really wanted the green.
Fifth tip: Flex pass it. If you get there early, do the flex, especially if you're in a large group. There comes a point where enough people in your group just feel beat up/tired from skiing so much that you want to leave early...but you all bought full day passes! With the flex, if you leave by a certain time you aren't hit with the full charge for the Full Day Pass. Great option.
A great local Denver ski resort. Great place for beginners and everyone actually. Our grandkids were on the slopes for the first time and the lesson package is great. For skiing and snow boarding, I give it a 5. The issue for those in ski boots is this place has more steps and stairs than any site I have ever skied. That alone tired me out. If you go for the first time, you better figure to get ready in your car.
What a great local's ski spot! Affordable and friendly, with terrain for all skill levels, and never a shortage of snow, Loveland is a great place to enjoy a beautiful winter day on the slopes!
Great skiing even when windy. Maybe it was just my company but I think I would LOVE to go back.
A huge mountain that offers all type of terrain and the people are chill.
Friendly staff and some great runs make this place a must visit for any skiers and snowboarders!
Loveland has plenty of snow and good terrain. The snow cat and hike-to terrain is excellent for advanced skiers. Food and drink is reasonably priced, especially compared to larger resorts. A good portion of their terrain is above treeline. Combine this with strong winds (which are common at Loveland!) and you get some miserably cold days where you're stuck on lift one because it's the only sheltered lift. Overall, it's a good resort for the price.
The private lessons were really a waste. Our instructor joe didn t help us. They don t sanitize the snowboard boots properly and now my feet smell.
I've only ever been to Southern California mountains so take that into account. Resort is giant! Seems like you could spend all day and not go down the same run twice. Staff was friendly. $90 for the day seemed super reasonable.
More then enough to keep you entertained even if you can ski everything a resort can ever offer. Good uphill access.
Amazing experience for the price. Not as large as other resorts but makes up for it with cost, powder, and the views. Definitely worth the price.
Loveland Valley was my first ski experience and it did not disappoint. This resort is perfect for beginners. Everyone we spoke with was super helpful and friendly. Unfortunately I had a little sickness occur when I first arrived, the shop we went into was nice enough to give me meds on the house. Amazing amenities and customer service, can t beat that :)
I love this place!
Bring your own meats and grill them at the roost.
Best place for people who hate all the out of towners. Can be windy and crusty. The chili is the best!
Conveniently located near Denver. Close access to the slopes from the parking lot. Not too crowded. Fairly priced.
There is a variety of long hills ranging from easy to difficult. The rental system is orderly and the people are friendly. The lifts are modern and fast. I highly recommend Loveland to anyone.
Awesome resort. Doesn't get too crowded so runs stay relatively open and view from top of runs is gorgeous!
The ONLY resort that never disappoints. Lift lines, parking, and travel to and from are %1000 better than any other Colorado resort.
Love this place. It doesn't get shut down with the Loveland Pass closures, great runs, a nice amount of backcountry and alternate routes available, friendly staff, decent beer selections in the various lodges, lots of run selection and variations, the flex pass is great, the half day rate starts early at 11:30 and the price beats anything else around it or in CO in general by leaps and bounds. Though it has a small and fairly limited park, there are little jumps and opportunities for transfers scattered all about. Even when the parking lot was full, the overflow lot was close and the shuttles were prompt and numerous. I can't sing this places praises enough.
Great resort but can be difficult to navigate from 1 side to the next
The mountain is great and people are friendly. They are anti-dog...dogs must stay in parking lot. :(
Great ski area. Close to Denver/Boulder and is well groomed. Decent views as well.
Great place, always come here every time I visit from NJ. Good prices and excellent trails.
Ski patrol was very helpful, high altitude part of the mountain was very scenic and fun.
I had read a lot of mixed reviews about this place and I wasn't really sure what to expect when I got there. I went with a group of 7 and 2 of us were experienced skier/boarder. We ended up going to Loveland Valley which is the beginner area to get all of our rentals since half of the group was going to stay on that side of the resort. That was a NIGHTMARE!! They are definitely not set up for the amount of people that go to that resort. The rental lines are LONG!! We wasted a good hour or so out of the day just getting rentals. We all decided to do a run or two together before myself and a couple others headed to the main resort slopes. The beginner runs are really well setup to give first timers a comfortable experience. So off to the main resort...
I really liked it here. You definitely need a map of slopes to find your way around. There are a few signs here and there, but they don't do you any good. Its very easy to get lost!! There are also no high speed lifts, so be prepared for slow lift rides anywhere you go on the mountain, but the scenery is breathtaking so I didn't really mind the lift rides.
When I was there, there was no wait at all for any of the lifts we went on, you could just ride up and hop on. At Loveland Valley where the beginners are the lift lines are crazy long, so be prepared to wait.
I read a lot of reviews about this place being super windy. The wind wasn't a factor at all unless you are on lift #9 going all the way to the top! Once you get past the tree line you better be prepared for STRONG winds!! so bundle up and enjoy!! I would definitely return here to ski!
Really fun place to ski! I like taking lift 6 up to do some of the blues.
Where the locals go, lots of different terrain, free cat skiing, not the biggest mountain around, but the closest to Denver before tunnel and definitely a fun time!
First time skiing here, and we had a great time. The place was packed and parking ended up being completely full. Get here early because the highway gets backed up and a drive from Denver could easily take 2x longer than it should.
Loveland is a decent ski area. They have done some improvements in the last couple of years that were much needed. But they still need to make more room in their base area lodges and hire more people. It takes too long to get food or drinks during busy periods. And seating is extremely limited.
This place has it all! Affordable lift tickets, great variety, and it's not usually very busy. That means more time on the slopes and less time in line! Definitely recommend coming here especially if you're a more advanced skiier/snowboarder. Also great for beginners as they have a separate area for first timers.
Love Loveland!! Our favorite mountain and always a great experience!
Worst ski experience. My son has full-day ski lesson on 12/27/2019 on Friday. My family arrived at the Love land valley about 9am to check in my son for ski group RESERVED lesson starting at 10am. Crowded and no instruction and no sign for check-in and rental process. I was waiting for 3 AND HALF hours to check him in and rent all equipment. The staff kept saying this is the busiest time around the year. Do I have to feel sorry about coming when they're busy? They should've had more staffs or more efficient system, or not have reservations over their capacity. It was 12:30 when my son started his lesson. After lunch served with corn dogs, chips and water, kids were waiting again for escalator in long line and skiing in the short slope. There were 7~8 kids with an instructor in a group. My kid ski down the short slope with escalator only 4 times in the full day lesson. I complained about it to sales supervisor, and she said "sorry" and gave one blank paper for customer feedback. I didn't feel that she was sorry AT ALL. And she said that she would refund $20 for half-day which is not seen anywhere in their website. They ruined my family vacation and wasted my time because they're busy. And they treated me as a lousy customer requesting $20 bucks. Do not go there especially for kids lesson. Or go there when they are NOT busy.
Looking forward to remodeled lift one this coming season. Wish the face could be redone to make an smoother ride down to the I70 underpass.
What a rad ski resort. My new favorite in the area. The amount of terrain, the locals, and the staff make this place feel like home away from home. I strongly suggest giving it a try if your in the area.
Love skiing Loveland -- the runs are great, the season is long, easy access. But every experience with customer service makes me regret choosing a season pass at this resort. Don't expect to have questions answered in a timely manner or concerns heard whatsoever, and do expect overpriced concessions and to wait up to 25 minutes when ordering a drink or closing a tab. Until management is fixed, I'll be getting my season pass at a different resort.
Blue bird day. Soft snow. Temp just right. Lunch room can't keep up with volume of people. If u get a hot dog, u must zap it for 15 seconds to warm bun, get water out of bun.
Loveland needs kinder staff members. First time skiing ever and the staff was incredibly rude. Being a first time skier, I didn t know how to stop or slow down yet. After going down a beginners slope too fast, my husband and I were literally yelled at by two staff members for going too fast. I understand telling someone to slow down, but yelling is unacceptable. Staff, please understand that beginners are BEGINNERS for a reason. It shouldn t be that hard to patiently give others tips on how to ski/snowboard better. Will not be returning because of the poor customer service.
Easy to get to not that crowded on weekdays. Good snow coverage lots of skiing are and some difficult runs. Food is nicely priced. They don't gouge ya like the other resorts.
WOW, GREAT INSTRUCTORS, duribg winter the place to go.
recomend renting outside
So windy and cold. You wouldn't like it. Awful snow. Don't go there. Spend your money in summit county!
Have every thin that yo want to do but there is alot of powder(need level 2 or 3 to stay on)
