The Wayside Inn is a great treat at any time of year.

The Sunday Dinner option is just right. Great comfort food at a comfortable cost that keeps you coming back again and again.

Soup to nuts at a fair price.

The quaint olde Inn is a must see and on a nice day there's plenty too do.

The old grist Mill Down the road and Mary Had a Little Lambs Olde School House.

Keep looking there's plenty to see and do.

The food is amazing, the staff welcoming, and the atmosphere is so special. You are surrounded by history! Some of our family favorites are the chicken pot pie, the turkey dinner, the prime rib. Don't miss the homemade peppermint stick ice cream with hot fudge sauce, or the Indian pudding.

Good food at a great price. Beautiful authentic atmosphere. The basket of breads that is placed on the table when you first arrive contains homemade treats, made from flour that comes from their mill.

I ate at Wayside Inn at the end of July for lunch during the week. I was seated right away. Food and service was good. I enjoyed walking through the building and learning more about the Inn and local history. A suggestion I would make is to pave the parking lot. I did not like walking on the dirt and getting my shoes dirty.

We went for my birthday lunch and this place was a gem! The Inn has been around since 1716! We tried tons of stuffs but prime rib was the winner. The portion was so generous I couldn't finish 12 oz size. Lobster Mac and cheese was also very good. We didn't miss desserts: brownie sundae and apple pie were super!
Update 12/24/2020: awesome Christmas lunch!! 6 stars!

Beautifully decorated for Christmas, the food was excellent. I ordered the mustard crusted salmon which was cooked to perfection. The holiday drinks were enjoyed by all. The wait staff was very attentive and there wasn't that horrible rush to get you to leave for another seating. We called in advance for a birthday cake which was one of the best I've ever had. I loved it here!

Very good food, beautiful place, very friendly. 2 complaints: slow service, every time I eat there its about 2 1/2 hrs and prices are a little high. I keep going back though because the food is worth it.

This is my favorite place to go with friends!!! It's a good hour drive to get to but it's so worth it. The history of this historic inn is displayed throughout. The quaint old dining areas with period aged fireplaces. Gift shop with period related items and souvenirs. And best of all the food is delicious and very reasonably priced. My friend's and I make sure we get there at least once a year. The drive is worth it!

Ate lunch on the patio. What a lovely setting. Shade, trees, gentle breeze, food was great, mimosa's chilled, serene setting. Didn't want to leave. A lazy, relaxing lunch. Our waiter was funny and wonderful. Highly recommended for a nice summertime treat

Two words: Absolutely FANTASTIC.

Two words: Absolutely FANTASTIC.

This gem is a must go for all history buffs. The food is amazing, the staff is beyond a 5 star. Pricy? Yes. But it's worth every penny. Highly suggested.

We had a great family dinner. Food was outstanding and the service was very attentive. I would highly recommend. Not the cheapest place, but worth the extra dollars. The lunch menu was reasonable.

Food is good, waitstaff is attentive. Prices were a bit high, as expected of a hotel attached restaurant, but the 3 course meal special helped alleviate that a bit. Won't take off a star since it is a part of the theme, but the chairs were a bit rickety and uncomfortable.

Cafeteria food at Boston prices. Horrible presentation and everything slopped out of a huge vat - no chef on duty in the kitchen in this place. All meals just microwaved and presented like warm. My kids meal at school is better than this place. I cannot for the life of me see how any reviews can say this food is fabulous. Had a waiter that definitely needed a course in etiquette and personal hygiene. An absolutely awful experience for a high price meal. Such a pity for a historic place that should have a Michelin quality meal.

Oh my goodness, this is a charming Inn and Restaurant... you are surrounded by history, the food was delicious and very well presented. I was there in the evening so, the Christmas lights and decorations were lit up and wonderful. I plan on going back in the day time to see more the wonderful landscape. I recommend a visit!!!

One goes here, not for the food, but for the atmosphere. The meal that I had was good, but not outstanding. (Admittedly it was not the high end of the menu.)
Ah, but the ambience is unparalleled. Your experience will not be a re-creation, but the real deal.
On any given weekend you will see a drum and fife corps, or a British or colonial garrison firing their muskets and drinking in the tap room.
You will be met at the door by some one in colonial costume who will lead you through the maze of rooms. I recommend the function rooms for their authentic feel and cozy, intimate atmosphere.
Of the larger dining areas, gift shop, and guest rooms, I cannot speak.
Go there at least once in your life.

Oktoberfest at wayside is an amazing deal. $25 for all you can eat German food. It was delicious. The band was good. Having $3 full pour beers was a welcomed change from the norm. Plus the selection of local craft and authentic German beer was top notch. We will be going back next year.

Great food, good service, huge portions. We dined here on a Sunday evening and were, therefore, able to have the Sunday dinner. The Sunday dinner consists of a starter, entree and dessert for a fixed price (about $21/person). When one considers the amount of food one gets for their meal, this is a great deal. The wayside inn also serves freshly made corn muffins. The cornmeal used is milled using their own Grist Mill on the property. Visitors may come view this mill in action during it's visiting hours May-October from 9-5.

This Inn has been operating for three hundred years and is the epitome of the Colonial aesthetic. It is surrounded by acres of historic grounds that include a grist mill, chapel, school house and trout pond. It's a great weekend getaway or site for a wedding.

This Inn is unique in the variety of functions it can hold. For large weddings they have an outdoor tent. Their main dining room can hold a bit over 100 people for smaller weddings. There are other rooms in the Inn for private functions with fewer guests. The are also small dining rooms that only have a few tables for romantic dinners by the fire. The old kitchen is my favorite room.

There are 10 guest rooms in the Inn for overnight stays. They are clean and comfortable. There is a sitting area for overnight guest with a TV with cable but there are no TV 's in the rooms. Room 10 and room 9 are the largest rooms, although room 9 is said to be haunted. I have stayed in this room without any problems. Breakfast is included in the room cost and is fantastic.

The food at the Inn remarkable. Very traditional new England fair. My wife and I were married there and twelve years later people still tell us that it was the best food they ever had at a wedding.

The only draw back to the Inn is that there isn't much else around it. So it's great for weddings or a weekend but not an extended stay.

If you haven't been to Wayside Inn, you should.

We held a micro-wedding at the Wayside Inn and could not have been happier. Mark was our point of contact he was patient, kind, and understanding not to mention a complete pleasure to work with. We fully enjoyed our micro-wedding and could not have picked a better location and nicer people to work with. The Wayside Inn is gorgeous!! and has many photo opportunities such as the Chapel, Inn, Pond, Garden, Grist Mill, and more. We also loved the fact that it s the oldest running Inn in America! It s a very historic spot which we loved. The Chapel was built by Henry Ford for example how cool is that?? The staff are also very nice and accommodating. I met many of the restaurant staff, front desk staff, gift shop staff, and Steve the Inn Keeper they were all very nice and made us feel at home. Planning/re-planning a wedding during COVID was very stressful to say the least. The Wayside Inn helped relieve some of these anxious feelings and helped us have a beautiful wedding day a day we will remember forever. My sister and I stayed at the Inn the night before and had a comfortable stay in the Inn. Apparently the room we stayed in is said to be haunted by a woman who used to live there. My sister and I had no haunting experiences and thoroughly enjoyed the room - it is a larger room so is great for getting ready, etc. The food/drinks were also delicious I had the salmon for dinner and the raviolis for lunch very tasty. We highly recommend the Wayside Inn!! Whether you stop by for lunch, go there to take a walk, have a wedding or other celebration it s highly recommended by us. Thank you Mark, Wayside Inn, and all the staff!!

Amazing traditional and colonial inspired fare in an historic setting dating to 1716. Have been going here several times a year for special occasions (birthdays, anniversaries) for DECADES and never disappointed. Everything we've had here has been nothing short of excellent, though we do have our favorites -- Simply the BEST prime rib you could ever hope to have, and we always look forward to their lobster bisque and french onion soup. Rarely have room for dessert, but when I do, it's the indian pudding (seriously, where else can you get indian pudding except maybe for old Sturbridge Village). Outstanding!

Very quaint and charming place with gorgeous decor and real old world ambience. The food was outstanding and the drinks were delicious. I highly recommend the Meeting House punch. Our server, Mariana, was extremely helpful and made some great recommendations.

We went in on a Sunday with reservations. Our service was great and they where very accommodating for my friends young daughter. The food I would describe as comfort food was okay,I nothing over the top. I would probably go again, but try different dishes.

Appealing historic site and restaurant featuring an inn, gristmill, one-room schoolhouse, and scenic grounds. Much more than a place to eat, it's a place to soak up history and enjoy the New England seasons at their picturesque best. Check their schedule for the Colonial Faire, sheep-shearing, concerts, and the like.

We dined in the Tap room it was full of history and atmosphere The food and service were wonderful We can't wait to go back. The only suggestion I have is to bring back the original duck with the orange glaze.

This place is awesome. Before going, read Longfellow's poem 'Tales of the Wayside Inn'. It is a charming collection of stories set in poetic form as they are told by various individuals as they sit around the fireside at the inn. This is where it 'all happened'!
The building itself is a beautiful place and the grounds are just as beautiful. It is very easy to spend many hours here exploring the various buildings on the property which include an old barn, a chapel built by Henry Ford, a little red school house which claims to be the setting of the nursery rhyme 'Mary's Little Lamb' and a wonderful stone grist mill. The road running in front of the inn is a portion of the original Boston Post Road which was the route that Paul Revere used on the night that the alarm went out about approaching British regulars to confiscate the munitions in Concord.
If you love history or if you love New England, this place is a must see. The food is very good too!

Both the interior and exterior structure has been maintained faithfull it s original plans as have the rustics parks surrounding the Inn. Enjoy a trip to our Revolutionary s past and bon appetite.
