This is more like 3.5 stars. The food is ok but not standout. You go here to soak in the history and eat or drink where people have for over 300 years. When we were there the barman was a character and added to the enjoyment. If you have not been, put it on the list so you can tick it off, just don't getting excited about the food. The food is also a little pricey, but that's the price of history. It's a regular place for me, I go there easily once every 3-4 years, like clockwork.
Most wonderful staff, clean rooms. We stayed 2 nights. Already planning our visit nect year.
I appreciate the authenticity of the place, the Yankee cooking, the courtesy of the people...there isn't anything fake.
And it's history.
We enjoy hanging out. Yesterday we visited this delicious restaurant which we didn t know before. We had a lovely experience there with exceptional meal and a courteous stuff and a talented cuisine. We added this fine restaurant in our phone list and we will no doubt come back very soon. We warmly recommend.
Good location, food was good as well. Snow removal could have been better.
The service was courteous and very kind to my grandmother that being said the manager look kind of stressed out when we were leaving a little late
Fantastic traditional food in a historic location. As a Brit I would call this a perfect place for a Sunday Lunch. The prime rib is excellent and I was told the salmon was equally good. Vegetarian options were also excellent and incredibly tasty. It is a bit pricey but worth it.
Great food, excellent wait staff !! Will be bringing my family back soon !!
Went to a wedding at the chapel nearby, and the reception was held outdoors on the inn's grounds. It's a beautiful historic building with absolutely lovely gardens, and a small pond with a population of geese during the season.
6 of us went. Everything was very good except my chicken pot pie. It always had a flaky crust, but this one was like a cracker. You had to pick it up to take a bite. Lots of chicken. But wouldn't order it again. They also don't sell their bakery products anymore. Baked scallops, Prime rib, pot roast and steak were all great, as was the potatoes and squash.
Good food, great service and very helpful. Also, very sensitive to the pandemic.
It's a good place with history and food is superb.. Great to bring a date and walk
