Pretty historic village outside of the city. Very reasonable price lunch and drinks in a true authentic bar. As a tourist, great venue to meet friends without the bustle of the city (if you have a car).

My wife and I got married at Longfellow's Wayside Inn in 2016. At our wedding we meet a very special waitress and her name is Marina. She made the food and drink aspect of our wedding so much easier and less stressful. Years later we returned for our anniversary reservations and were so excited when we were seated and found out our waitress was Marina! She is the absolute greatest. So nice, caring, kind hearted, and welcoming. She is always amazing. The food was fantastic and the Inn and the Inn ground's are absolutely amazing. The Wayside truly is an amazing place with amazing people just like Marina. We love the Inn and Marina! Would highly recommend everyone make a reservation and enjoy the service, food, and beautiful sites. Thank you Wayside Inn and Marina as always! Stay safe : )

If you are looking for a little bit of history with a side of prime rib, look no further. The Wayside Inn is just that. I had seafood haddock special which was very good. Others in my group had the prime rib which was what the waitress recommended. All in all the meal was good. I did feel like I was at grandma's house for dinner, but if you like history then the vibe will be right up your alley.

Great experience here with banquet service for an anniversary party. Charming rooms and delicious food. You can buy flour and cornmeal they grind at the working grist mill and it comes with a recipe for their corn muffins or their rolls! I recommend their house beer they have made for them (I think it's their only draft).

I so wish I had discovered this years ago. It wasn't at all what I expected. It's a truly affordable historical experience. There is a lovely patio for dining away from the main road. Several historical buildings - plenty of places to walk and explore - just a beautiful setting for enjoying a lovely day. I didn't stay overnight there, so I can't comment on that. It's like an ancient wayside inn... oh, wait a second... that's exactly what it is.

It s always a pleasure to visit the Wayside Inn. We enjoy wandering around the beautiful Inn and grounds. A favorite of ours, is to sit by the fireplace in the bar and enjoy a well crafted drink and relax.

This inn and area are steeped in history. It is certainly an interesting dining experience, and in many ways feels like you are stepping back in time. We came only for dinner, and I'd say that the food is good, but not spectacular, especially considering the price. But the truth is that you are paying for more than the food, and I think the inn tries to maintain a traditional, homey, comfort food menu, rather than an exotic one. Since they are currently celebrating their tricentennial, we all got their special $20.16 3-course heritage dinner. Trust me, it's hard to leave this place hungry!

A quaint and charming place, with low lights. Would be a great place to bring a special date, anniversary, etc. We went there for dinner. Had there seafood platter with scallops, shrimp and salmon. Green beans and cheese potatoes. My mom had their Turkey dinner and my friend had there beef and mushrooms, all were yummy. Served by a friendly waitstaff.

Quiet and historic. Menu is always changing and several times a year, they have events like a colonial festival in the fall. It is set on a pretty estate with a historic water mill, etc. Worth visiting if you are in the area. The food is pricey, but not so expensive that it is prohibitive. Good for a special occasion. If it's a large party, I'd recommend making a reservation as seating is somewhat limited (2 midsized rooms).

We ate burnch in the Lemon room on Mother's Day. It's a semi-private room, with one table, set between the hallway and the main dining are for the non-buffet. We were seated right away and Gail, our server, greeted us and asked about drinks. We ordered coffee and let her know we were waiting on the rest of our party- 5/8 had arrived. She was very attentive and congenial. Due to time constraints and not knowing that the last two people wouldn't be coming we we're asked if we we're ready to order. Gail let is know if it weren't for reservations, two seating times and crowds waiting for openings she wouldn't have asked just then. There was a special fixed menu and the two soup/salad and entree courses were prompt but spaced well enough where you could enjoy the meal without feeling rushed. Our items included clam chowder, garden Las and wedge salad followed by baked salmon with a dijon crust, roasted lamb, lobster casserole and prime rib. There was Indian rice pudding and chocolate creme pie for dessert. All of the food was delicious, especially the best damn pie ever made, but the real reason to go is for the setting. Experiencing the Wayside Inn is getting a historic tour of the Inn and Longfellow's restaurant, seeing the outer buildings and walking the grounds.

Everyone should eat at this restaurant at least once in their lives. The combination of old New England Colonial architecture, plus amazingly prepared food, in an extremely comfy and home style environment, is something that can't be beat. It honestly feels like you're eating somewhere in the 18th century which is an experience that few people can ever said that they have had

There is a lot of history there. A great restaurant serving food cooked using Colonial recipes. There is a very popular Tap room with a wood burning fireplace. The hotel rooms are well taken care of.

Wayside Inn is slipping. An hour to get waited on. Problems in the kitchen. Problems with wait staff. Manager walked by our table 6 times to take care of the irate couple behind us but did not stop to assure us or explain to us what the situation was. Food finally came and was cool. Dessert was free but our annual Christmas get together was disappointing overall. Next year's get together may be somewhere different.

This is my favorite restaurant. I've been here lots of times with family but it's particular special to me because my husband and I had our first date here, he proposed here, and tonight we brought our baby boy here for dinner. Always the best service. Friendly staff. Excellent food. Tonight I enjoyed the warm apple cider, peach mold salad, prime rib, whipped potatoes, and green beans. And after finishing this large plate, I shared the deep dish apple pie with my hubby and washed it down with some black coffee. All while surrounded by a cozy fire in a charming side dining room of this beautiful inn. I can't say enough good things about this place. Hoping one day we can stay overnight, but as far as dining goes, this place does everything right.

Early anniversary celebration with my wonderful wife. Our superb waitress asked if we celebrating anything and we shared with her. Well she brought a cute little cupcake, with a candle, to celebrate.

The cupcake was the perfect topping of a great meal. Dining room was quiet. Staff attentive but allowed you to sit and eat ata leisurely pace.

As always, great service and great food.

Took the Mother-in-law here for Mother's Day dinner. Called in advance to make reservations but I was too early by 2 days to make reservations. They told me to call back within a 30-day time frame. I called back 3 weeks before Mother's Day and had to take a 4:30pm dinner seating as no later seatings were available. Showed up for dinner on Mother's Day and gave them our name and they had no record of me making a reservation! So we waited a half hour for a table. When they told us a table was ready, it was one that my mother-in-law did not like or want, which made for an uncomfortable dinner. Yay. As for me, they offer NO VEGETARIAN SELECTION so I had to settle for the salmon dijonnaise, which was a disappointing dried out piece of fish. My husband and mother in law's lobster bisque had NO LOBSTER in it! Overall, and extremely poor dinner for the money we paid. I will never go back. So sad too because it's really a cool piece of history and the food and service used to be so much better.

This is a historic place and the surroundings will keep you there for ever. The restaurant food is excellent and desserts were awesome . We went there for our daughter's engagement dinner and my in-laws from Australia enjoyed it very much. Very different surroundings than a regular 5 star restaurant. Try it next time.

I was a guest at a friend's wedding. It was a nice venue. The pews weren't stuffed (while also being far from empty) in the Martha Mary chapel and the size of the room in the back of the Inn Restaurant comfortably fit everyone for dinner and dancing. The food was delicious and portion sizes were generous.

The staff were very accommodating. We had a very large party (22) and they handled it well. We even got a staff member to give us a history of the Inn. The food was fantastic as well. I would recommend the dining experience for anyone in the area.
