Pretty cool that it s one of the oldest pizza places but the food is average. Very expensive for pizza

Pizza was good and the beer was cold. It was worth the wait. Bring cash, cards are not accepted. They do not have typical New York pizza. It's Neapolitan pizza: crispy crust, slightly doughy/chewy and mozzarella cheese with toppings options.
Some of the best fresh pizza in New York but the price is unreasonable.
The very first pizzeria in the country and is the very best pizza I've ever eaten!
Only downside was the wait and cash only. Pizza was amazing. We had the "cakeboss" special and a custom pepperoni. Everyone loved it.
For the first time eating here, I loved it. Will definitely come back when I'm in town again. Definitely recommend this place! The margherita pizza which I had was out of this world! The best hands down!
Lombardi's has been on the go since the 1900's and its easy to see why. Although the restraunt looks small from the outside they also have a downstairs underground.
The best pizza we have ever eaten in the World, and very very cheap at the same time... Any pizza lovers, make sure you head here :)
Yes, the pizza is very good. The crust is thin, sauce is not overpowering, the ingredients are fresh. A must try
Great food, served by Micheal who was fantastic!
Will visit again next time we re back in NYC
Was ok, but.would not rate it as the best in NYC...
Go here if you want pizza. I believe it's the oldest in Manhattan but despite being a tourist magnet they do a reasonably good job of keeping it authentic and the pizza is very solid! The prices are reasonable too.
There are no reservations so you have to show up and put your name down. They have a couple benches outside and a speaker so you can hear names being called.
I wouldn't recommend it for your average night out in the hood but it's a fun tourist experience
This pizza is also famous in the NYC Soho area! It's an oven pizza and Italian style. If you expected the American style, you might be a little disappointed
The first pizzeria in the USA, good place you eat well and it is not expensive!
Great pizzas and super nice people. Will let you in the kitchen to see the oven.
The pizza is pretty darn good! A standard pie for them so a medium pie is $22 for the margarita pizza and then toppings and others are more. The vanilla Italian soda wasn t my cup of tea but others may like; it tasted like a water down vanilla soda. CASH ONLY
Famous and traditional place to eat pizza because it is very good. Prices are medium / high but worth it. Sometimes you have to wait a while, perfect excuse to have a beer at the bar.
This place is an authentic Italian restaurant. We ordered the biggest margarita pizza and drinks and it was amazing. The pizza has a crust texture of a fire oven baked pizza, the sauce is amazing and on point, no extra unnecessary flavors, the cheese portion was OK but still melts away when a slice is pulled. They do not take cards as a form of payment so they have an in restaurant ATM machine that charges a fee for withdrawal of cash, which is the only downside. Overall the place is spacious and the staff is friendly and helpful. The prices are a bit higher than that of a traditional pizza pie, but it is Lombardi so you are paying for the name and the quality. Very cool place.
Delicious pizza , great service .
We had a 15 min wait but it was totally fine. I would recommend .
Service was great. Ryan was nice and professional. Pizza very flavorable, ingredients taste fresh. However overall value is 1 star because you pay $35 bucks for a pizza and we eat on paper plates, plastic cups and cash only? SERIOUSLY the price and value will keep me from coming back. Very overhyped pizzeria!!
Lombardi's Pizza is Napoli style Pizza, which means its cooked in a very hot oven for about 90 seconds. The result is a crust that is crispy, but also soft. We ordered the Tartuffo pizza which had truffle, mushrooms and ham. It was outstanding. We also ordered the Fettuccine Bolognese. A tad on the greasy side, but also amazing. Our entire dinner including two glasses of wine was just shy of $30. That's a steal for the Gables.
Pizza was ok. Visited mostly out of curiosity. Being the very first Pizzeria in America.
We were in New York 6 years ago and had a wonderful time at Lombardi's and the food was great. We're back in New York this week (October 2018) and decided to eat at Lombardi's again. We were extremely disappointed the food is nowhere near what it was back in 2012. Next time we're in New York we will not be eatting at Lombardi's, we'll try somewhere new.
Lombardi's Pizza, the 1st pizzaria in America. It was even featured on TV, so it must be great, right? Not really. I came in and the restaurant was pretty full. The hostess stressed over and over that food isn't served at the bar. Luckily, I was quickly seated. The restaurant has two dining areas, separated by the kitchen. The pizzas are just alright but too expensive. I was more blown away by the prices instead of the taste of the pizza. I ordered the small traditional cheese pizza for $20. The sause could've used more flavor and there was more of it than the cheese. Extra cheese would've been another $4. To put things in perspective, I was able to eat the small pizza by myself. If you come in a group, the price starts to add up fast or people might walk away still hungry.
I did like the atmosphere, and the staff made sure I was okay many times but without the feeling of being rushed. There are many places in the city to get cheaper, better tasting pizza or you can come here to say you ate at America's 1st pizzaria.
Had the meatball pizza - Perfect crust, ridiculously tasty pizza. Quick service on off hours, otherwise, it might involve lots of waiting outside.
Possibly considered a tourist trap, but has some damn good pizza! I appreciate that they have Yeungling on tap.
Doesn't live up to the hype. I've had better neopolitan pies in Texas. The atmosphere is cool and I totally dig the "first pizzeria" deal.
bruchetta shouldnt be on the menu its so gross . but pizza was amazing
This is my wife and I's first trip to NYC from California. My buddy used to live here and said this place was the best pizza anywhere. He was absolutely right! Staff was great too!
The first pizzeria to open in the United States. You have to visit it even if it's for its history
Food and environment were okay. I saw a lot of the same pictures. There was a hair in my bruschetta. Chicken parm was burnt underneath. I didn t mind bc I enjoy it a lil crisp but the edges were inedible which was also my favorite part. The rigatoni was a poor choice (I always prefer a good spaghetti) and poor quality. The sauce was too watery. This place is cash only and pricey. Too many negative things but the waiters were attentive, friendly and helpful. I m Spanish so I don t mind some Spanish music, I appreciate it but it s a bit unprofessional for an Italian restaurant to play Spanish music. Id recommend walking over to the heart of little Italy to find a better Italian restaurant.
Overrated pizza place. You pay for the name and nothing else. The menu is very limited and prices are very high. Good pizza, but you can find better for less all over the city.
The pizza IS really good. They chose to stay the course with the ultimately New York style pizza even as new-neapolitan style became all the rage about 10 years ago. Two things that annoy me: 1. so touristy. Not that that matters so much, but the wait can be unbearable. 2. prices have gone out of control.
I love pizza and grew up eating NYC pizza, but Lombardi's pizza just didn't do it for me. We ordered the large pie half Margherita half white. The crust was thin, but also very dry. They were cheap with the cheese. The pizza was basically flavorless. The bartender recommended that we get the Margherita but I'm glad I got only half of it because I like the white pizza better.
We also got the raspberry Italian soda. For $5, it was SUCH a disappointment. It was literally seltzer water with the tiniest drop of raspberry flavor syrup and whipped cream on top. It wasn't great. I'd never order it again.
Waiting wise, we came on a cold weekday afternoon while it was raining heavily. There was still a long wait of about 45 mins and the bar was stuffed with people waiting. At least the bartender was entertaining.
Just the oldest pizza in nyc doesn't make it a good pizza.
Very good dough great and to be in New York the price is very good
I only enjoyed it Bc my date was cute. But the food was not worth the money. Great staff though!
Excellent pizza and atmosphere. Loved everything about it - especially the quality cheese and toppings. It's cash only and you can't buy by the slice. But those are small and inconsequential considering the quality pie you get.
This was probably one of the best pizzas I've ever eaten.
Very tasty, but not phenomenal. Staff was friendly and courteous. Just didn't blow us away.
Pizza is good but not that great. Make sure you add toppings, if you are getting the white pizza!!
This is a joke...
You pay for the historic name, and that's it.
8$ for a glass of wine. Small calzone for 15$, 12' pizza for 18-22$, 16' pizza for 22-25$.
They are quite basic, and you'll need to add 4-6$ of you want more toppings.
And for that hefty price, you get paper plate and plastic cup.
I guess like in 1905.
Pizza is good, place is reknowned, but the experience is a bit disappointing overall.
Very nice restaurant and place to visit. Open windows let lots of air in. Very clean with nice staff. Pizza was great, ours was overdone. Charged us ~$3-$4 per topping in addition to an almost $30 base price for any large. Great restaurant, short wait, stupid expensive. Charged for soda water...
The oldest pizzeria in New York, at least so says the sign, offers a particular pizza, but which is basically not bad. Thin and a little greasy, it looks more like a little flatbread with the ingredients above. Anyway, you can eat. The white one with ricotta is good.
Simply good because there is a lot of tables. Pizza isn't any better than Joe's or prince street.
Best NYC Pizza. Hands down. Great atmosphere. (Tip: They only accept Cash)
What an experience of the most delicious pizza we have had! Much different the crust than in San Francisco or anywhere else in California. A nice salted dough with a wonderful red sauce and mozzarella cheese.
I've been traveling the world for many years and had the opportunity to taste a lots of pizza. For the price I was expecting something very special... deceived. It just got very well known because many famous people went there and it's vintage.
Felt sorry for the friend who invited us because she didn't know either
The perfect pizza dough, the natural tomato, the nice place, good service
Cool place, so much history comes with a very good NY pie.
It's nice it has a typical side in terms of its decoration even if the place becomes really ultra touristy
Indeed the paper plates and plastic cups is average considering the price of the pizza ... but hey, they are good anyway and then, it's a bit of an institution this place finally :)
Delicious nice place
Meet someone from WV here my home place
Was OK. 16 "for $ 35. Soil was good, topping well, have no comparison but our Italian in Hannover is better Cool atmosphere and for the music there's a 1!
Lombardi's pizza is the best in New York, or so they say around. Located in small Little Italy, it almost feels like an Italian caricature. The pizza is brought on a strange tray and the bill is very salty. But it's worth it, to spend a different day
Although it's officially located in Nolita, Lombardi's is just a few steps from Mulberry Street and definitely worth the detour, especially for first-time visitors. This Spring Street restaurant was licensed by the city in 1905, officially making it the first pizzeria in America. In fact, many of New York's top pizza makers learned their craft from Gennaro Lombardi and spun off to open some of the city's most famous pizzerias, including Totonno's, Patsy's and John's. Over 100 years after it opened, the sublime, slightly charred pies made with San Marzano tomatoes and fresh mozzarella top many a New Yorker's list of the absolute best. The restaurant also has a full bar.
It's good pizza but I can honestly say I had amazing pizza at other establishments such as Picasso Pizza at Battery Park. Much much cheaper.
It was not horrible pizza, id probably eat it again but it is by no means the best pizza going either. Eat there, it's a neat place but please don't go thinking you're going to get life changing pizza because you just aren't.
Tip a pizza or spaghetti and give it $ 70. I don't know why I am famous. The dough is burned and tastes bad. The interior is reminiscent of local jjajangmyeon.
Go somewhere else
Pizza was amazing! One of the best but come on! Cash only??? Ya'll need to have your hostess to say it when people arrive ... we drank at the bar while we wait for our table, then when we wanted to pay boom! No credit cards accepted!
Pizza was delish! Half margherita / half white with mushrooms. Remember, cash only!
Pizza perfection. What you can't eat you can take with you.
This is a cash only, original Pizza place. It's great! I expected more cheese, but apparently that's not how it works in NY! Overall, it's like a step back in time and a must visit!
Three stars off b/c
#1 the waiter tried to sit us in the back of the restaurant at a larger table rather in the front at a table the right size.
-1 star
#2 PLASTIC?! The cups and plates were plastic as though such a famous place couldn't afford to have a washing machine
-2 stars
#3 the pizza is good, not great, good
+1 star
#4 the people are nice, even if they tried to sit us in the back
+1 star
