Cozy 100 years old pizzeria with cute old-fashioned decor. 25 minutes wait time for calzone was a bit long but the quality of its crispy crust and delicious mushrooms inside compensated well for the wait.

Cool atmosphere. I ordered a margherita pizza for myself. Sauce had nice texture, but bland. Cheese was tasty, but sparse. Crust was well salted and tender, but had too much dry white flour on top. Not nearly enough basil. I had high expectations, but they came up short on flavor -- especially for the price ($30 after ATM fee and tip). Have had better pizzas for a third the cost.
Famed for being "The First" pizza joint in America (a considerable & lengthy debate between them & another place), they have a lot to live up to. They got 4 stars cause the pizzas we got tasted slightly burned. Otherwise it was very enjoyable.
Delicious pizza just like they made it in the old days and different Variations of pizzA. A large assortment of different Pizzas. Enjoyed It very much. Would recommend it as an excellent choice for Italian Style Pizza!!!!!
Laugh at me if you must but, while in New York, I had to fulfill the quintessential 'what tourists should do' experience. And, what better place to do so than at one of America's first pizza joints for the perfect slice of pie?
Staying near Times Square, we chose Lombardi's since it was closer than Prince St. We came around 7:40PM on a Thursday night and found it lively as ever. After a 40 minute wait, we were seated and ordered the Margherita and the Cake Boss Special with eggplant. While I've had pizza in Italy, my hometown of Calgary, Alberta, Canada is hardly the mecca of good pizza so I expected to be blown away. Although the pies were good, I was a little underwhelmed. The margherita was tasty but, nothing spectacular. The Cake Boss one at $35 definitely did not feel like it was worth the price particularly since the eggplant was soggy and difficult to eat on the thin crust.
So why did I give this 4 stars? Well, we had quite a bit of pizza to take home (4 slices of each) and we found the next day pizza MUCH better than at the restaurant. Plus, the service was very friendly and I don't have any other NYC based pizza place to compare it to. So, check this place out if you haven't heard of better. And if you go, make sure to get either the white pizza or the margherita. Skip the Cake Boss.
Nice setting upstairs, less cosy downstairs. Pizzas are big, expensive for what they are, which is OK but nothing special. Service is good. But paper plates and disposable plastic glasses when you pay 35$ for a pizza, sort of makes you realise that the management don't really care about the customer experience once seated.
Really nice authentic pizza place! The large pie was perfect to share between two people. This place is living history as it's the oldest pizza spot in New York. Get the margherita pizza, its classic and delicious. Perfect amount of sauce and mozzarella.
The pizza is INCREDIBLE!!! Trust me, you've never had pizza like this before. The ingredients are so fresh and so delicious. I wish I live near here so I can order from them but alas, I can only visit and the wait can be long or short depending on the time of day you come. We came around 3pm on a Saturday and the wait was 5 minutes for 4 people. Not bad.
They get the crust right! We ordered a cheese-free pizza with olives and it was incredibly good, partly because of the flawless crust and partly due to the delicious juicy olives they used.
