The food was great. I typically judge a Mexican restaurant based on the salsa and guacamole. The salsa here was amazing! I end up asking for different varieties of salsa but here they offered three kinds right away! For main course we ordered the seafood trio taco and veggie fajitas. Both were delish. I took one star away because there was some discrepancy in our seating, service etc. A server came to our table twice with food that wasn't ours! But nothing really bad, I will be back here again!

Changing my review from 5 stars to 2 stars. Service is absolutely terrible. We eat here during every trip to Gatlinburg, multiple times a year. Service is abysmal if they are even remotely busy. They add gratuity to the check so they don't care about the service since the tip is default. Slow drinks, slow chips, forgotten silverware, etc. There was a fight at a bar next to the building that every waiter and waitress rushed onto the patio to stand and watch. Completely abandoning the floor. If they moved that quickly for refills, it'd still be a five star review. Two stars since the food is still good. Just ruined by the service staff.

Fist time visiting, our server was super nice and prompt with drinks. Food was great and came out quickly. The rooftop bar is the place to sit. Great view of the area is great. There's a couple of nice gas fire decorations that are nice on the cool nights. I had the brisket burrito, it was delicious.

Worst place we have ever eaten at. Our wait time was double what they told us. The food was not good. We waited 15 mins after being sat for anyone to even come say hello to us let alone get our order. When a server finally came to out table he said the guy that was supposed to be waiting on us was to busy. The Fajitas were a joke. The tacos were american tacos. They don't know what hot sauce is. And then the server decided to change what was written on the tio line to suit himself! We will NEVER eat there again and we will not ever recommend anyone else to ever eat there.

Excellent food, the best we ve had in a long time. Our server, Julia, was super sweet and obviously took pride in a job that she enjoys. Chips and salsa are top notch and the fajitas were legit. Disregard any poor reviews, our experience was 5-star for a fresh-mex dinner spot.

I ordered the chimichangas, and they were fairly decent, but the wait for our food was over an hour. Several items were missing from our orders and we had to request the items. They didn't tellus until 1.5 hours in, that certain items were not available.

Ok so the reason we came here was for the rooftop experience. It was great and the tuna tacos was great minus skin left on, but no big deal. The problem was the drinks. Ordered the grande draft for $5.15 as apposed to the "regular" for $3. Well guess what the grande is the same size just a different glass that appears bigger, but holds the same as a regular. Just cant stand ripoff places that want your business but expect you to be stupid so they can get in your wallet.
Avoiding next time just because they are dishonest and obviously think very low of their customers.

Can I not leave a star? Anyways. Was told to go upstairs, me and my wife, when we got there we sat at a table for 20 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us. When someone finally came to us it was to tell us to get up because they were going to use that table. Was thrilled after a long trip for this treatment.

Not impressed!

Not impressed!

Positives: The service was pretty good. Waitress was nice and kept up with the table well.
The decore and atmosphere are fun. Loved the upbeat club-style music...a touch loud at times, but enjoyed it. The burro ride is a neat concept.

Negatives: Food was sub par and I did not enjoy it. The two salsas that were included really were meh. The chips were meh. The "refried" beans were not great at all. Not refried but instead runny with fully intact beans. The rice was not anything to praise. My cheese enchiladas were at least nice and cheesy and tasty but really didn't have much enchilada sauce on them.

Overall, will not be back. Sadly, the only disappointing part of my whole trip.

We found this place by luck as it's easy to miss. It was a nice change from the crazy people of Gatlinburg. We sat outside and watched the strip below. The service was great as was all of the food.

Horrible experience for us. It was our first trip to Gatlinburg and I'd gotten mixed reviews from friends but we were optimistic. We were sat on the roof but had our three children with us. There was no shade over our table. There were lots of empty tables downstairs and upstairs but all were dirty. Our first red flag was the lady who sat us. My husband asked her for an extra menu (she only gave us four) and then rolled her eyes at him. She was very unfriendly and appeared to hate her job. Second red flag was our server. We asked him what he recommended from the menu. He impatiently said he had "no idea". He served our drinks and we didn't see him again for awhile except for him to say he apologized for the long wait. My husband had to get drink refills from the bartender, who obviously hated his job as well. That was at 1:39pm. At 2:31pm we still had no food. We'd literally gotten sunburned sitting on the roof with empty tummies to boot. Finally, we just got up and left. We offered to pay for our sodas but Management (I'm assuming?) said "no, it's ok". I'm sorry but an hour wait in the hot sun for a $120 lunch bill isn't worth it, especially with rude wait staff. I really hope service improves. The staff all appeared to be miserable. Who knows, maybe they just had a bad day.

Don t go there if it s busy and expect any kind of service. We had to go the bar area every time with our drinks for them to get refilled and to get more salsa when it ran out. Horrible service and a little above average than small town Mexican restaurants. If we had any service I would give them a 3 but because of the horrible service I give them a 1. If people don t show up or lay out for work and you are short staffed that sucks I understand but close off a section and just tell customers there will be a wait instead of giving one server 10 tables. That s not fair to the customers or the servers.

Horrible start to finish. We had a party of 8 for dinner last night (July 9). The hostess initially told us they had tables open and to just give them 4-5 minutes to arrange a table for us. After about 30 minutes they finally remembered to seat us with no explanation. Then we were led to a row of 4 top tables, so we assumed we needed to push them together so we could seat ourselves. Nope, the manager saw us and actually YELLED at us that we needed to leave the tables where they were. Instead of providing us with seating for 8 they told us to sit at 2 different tables. So why did we wait the 30 minutes? Keep in mind they were not full up. There were many empty tables, and I was beginning to see why. As far as the food, it was overpriced and under seasoned. You can get far greater quality for less at your local Mexican restaurant. The chips were the worst part. They actually have 2 different corn chips. At any Mexican restaurant I or you reading this have been to, they give you fresh fried chips. The ones they bring out to start are worse than store bought chips. Paper thin and flavorless. The restaurant is apparently aware of this, because if you order the nachos, the chips are actually fresh made and sturdy like you would expect. Its insulting to diners that you serve food, even if it's just chips, that you know isn't good just because you can't be bothered making fresh chips for everyone. If they weren't located in the middle of a tourist trap, they'd be out of business in a heartbeat. My advice, if you're visiting Gatlinburg, just avoid this place.

We had to repeat visiting this restaurant because food & service was outstanding. The decorations throughout as if it were outdoors with tiki huts, colorful lanterns just makes the atmosphere priceless. The food is beyond what we expected, the chips & salsa served are fresh & no worries if you dont like hot or spicy, unless you put hot ssuce the food is not spicy. We were very impressed would highly recommend byy the way the variety of drinks & how beautifully prepared is a huge bonus.

Over priced I guess as we visited the area its expected to be a little more expensive due to the tourist attractions and resort town. Also the salsa was way to thin and watered-down. The hot salsa a bit to much smoky flavor.

This was our first trip to Gatlinburg and we came to this restaurant on a recommendation. We were very impressed. Staff was kind and accommodating. Food was delicious and out in a timely manner. Atmosphere is great and I highly recommend the rooftop bar and seating!

Service was great, atmosphere was good. Loved the salsa but you definitely don't get enough food for the amount of money that you spend! Had to fill up on the salsa because i shared lunch with my husband because it was so pricey!! Beans tasted like they were straight out of a can.

Food was delicious. Sat in the bar area on a Tuesday evening. Service was very slow and bar area was almost full. Views and setting are great! Warm lamps and fire pits as it's getting cooler. We both got the El Pollo chips and queso blanco.

My wife and I stop in at the Loco Burro restaurant everytime we come to Gatlinburg. The staff is always friendly and the food tastes fresh and the beer is great! This time I ordered what is called "the whole 5 pound chihuahua ". It comes as an eating challenge dish with the rules as follows: if you can eat the whole thing by yourself in 30 minutes or less it's free. The dish costs is $26.99. It's made with Farm fresh ingredients from fresh guacamole to wonderfully prepared beef. As a warning this dish is very very hot and spicy as to add to the challenge. However if you choose to not take.the challenge you can order it without the hot sauce. There's balcony seating available and is wheelchair friendly. The elevator is located in the back of Johnny Rockets on the first floor by the game room. Thanks loco Burro for making our trip memorable!
