My mother and I stayed here for a week while visiting Charleston. The staff was amazing, as most people will tell you about the people of Charleston. The pool area is lovely and we enjoyed a day at the spa (Mother-Daughter getaway package). It is close to everything and staff can help you get anywhere else. We used valet parking. We tried self parking, but the garage is small for our Toyota Highlander so opted to let the pros park it the rest of the week despite the 20-ish dollar difference (per day). Pros: friendly staff, comfy rooms, day cleaners and turndown service, 24 hour room service (basic menu, nothing too fancy), room service food comes in big portions and worth the cost (in my experience and only for some things. I recommend the Eggs Benedict, buffalo wings, the burger, and Magherita Pizza), central location, lots of amenities. Cons: There are a few weird things. The bathrooms are odd. The tub is at least 2-3 feet tall on the sides. It's a feat to get into a wet tub, let alone get out afterwards without slipping. Anyone with low flexibility may find it difficult. It's nice for baths, however. The toilet is meant to, I think, be efficient in that it uses very little water. However, when it flushes the water often splashes and can splash outside of the bowl. We're talking nasty waste water all over the seat and floor. Once when we ordered breakfast room service they forgot our second order of sausage patties and when they came they were undercooked. It didn't matter too much, but it was disappointing. There are no coffee makers in the rooms and is over priced via room service. The Belmond could use a in-house coffee place. Other notes: completely non smoking. A couple pokestops depending on your room. Microwave available if you ask. Small, small, small fridge that is half full of pay-to-drink beverages. Pool is big but max occupancy is 20 people. Small hot tub. All in all I highly recommend staying here if you're looking for a lux experience and are willing to pay for it. The cons we had are very specific to our experience and I don't feel they represent the hotel as a whole. P.S. Go to Byrd's Cookies across the street. You're welcome.

Had a little trouble navigating entry, because the front of the building is more mall-like and indicates "Shops at Charleston Place". Found the alley entry and was greeted by the valet. Javier was our "first impression" and a great one. So friendly and helpful. The Belmont is a beautifully appointed hotel. Did not expect that upon arrival. Every single staff person encountered was over and above friendly. The lobby had beautiful fresh flowers and was just a pleasant check in experience. When I got to my room, I was greeted by the turndown service and as I entered my room I found such a spectacularly gorgeous and semi-luxurious space. The decor was inviting and well thought out. Cleanliness is important and they have nailed it. After a long day of travel, I ordered dessert room service and Stevie was an excellent server. This has moved into one of my top stays.

I have stayed at most 4 and 5 star hotels in Charleston. I watch dollars and have chosen the best deal these hotels have to offer. The Belmond is typically 10% higher. After this visit I believe this hotel to be worth much more. It is a value proposition and theirs cannot be approached. The staff treat you like a friend. Not over the top, friendly and natural. The place is simply beautiful. Spotless. The spa, the bars, facilities are the best. Last night, a knock on the door and a few chocolates with a note, "welcome back." When was the last time a hotel did this for you? No more shopping. No more settling. I am now a loyalist to this place for it is the best for just a little bit more.

This was my first time staying at this hotel and everyone welcome me with a friendly smile the moment I drove up. The room was gorgeous...like it was out a magazine. The Waiters were great too. They answered any questions I had about the menu and their suggestions we're right on point!! Paul, Lisa, and the entire wait staff...I thank you for making this new dinning experience great!! The food was superb!! Hats off to the chefs also!!

Beautiful hotel in downtown within walking distance of most of the quality restaurants and bars. The facilities were pretty good, including the banquet rooms.

Not too many modern conveniences in the rooms. Dining and bar staff were fairly rude.

Had an issue where my customer incorrectly booked a room for a night earlier than I was to arrive. Even though front desk person said they would adjust my folio, accounting department billed my credit card for the extra night. Tried working with them to reduce the rate and gave them every opportunity to win some future business. But, they explicitly told me that they would rather make a higher rate with that previous stay knowing that they will lose a potential frequent customer for life. So, that was my first and last stay at the Charleston Place Hotel.

Love this place!! My son and I visited here for the first time last year and he and I liked it so much I promised to take him back which I did just that. The staff ( all of the staff) were very kind and helpful and our room was so elegant and relaxing. The whole visit was fantastic .

Exemplary!! Every single experience I had with everyone and everything at Belmond Charleston Place was absolutely outstanding which has been consistent with each visit.
The entire Staff has always been professional, polite and efficient with guest satisfaction being a top priority.

The rooms have always been spotless and extremely comfortable right down to the inviting bedding, fluffy duvets and massive bathtubs. Loved relaxing and looking out from the charming balcony over historic Charleston.

They are fully equipped with all the amenities you could possibly ever want, whether it be starting the day by pampering yourself at the spa, getting a massage after a swim in the indoor pool, then shopping downstairs or dining in one of the elegant restaurants. Later you can listen to live entertainment in the Thoroughbred lounge while you enjoy one of their delicious deserts and a nightcap,

Charleston Place is a totally self contained facility, I had no need (or desire) to leave but if you would like to explore, you are right in the heart of Charleston and in walking distance to almost everything.

I can t say enough good things about this outstanding hotel and it s grandeur, looking forward to returning again soon!

There s a lot of fantastic places to stay in Charleston but this is by far the best I have ever experienced.

Throughout the years this hotel has remained one of the best. Services and amenities are always on point along with friendly staff. Central location, two places to dine (do also venture out, it's Charleston after all), shopping, and one swanky bar make this a great stay.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Belmond Charleston Place Hotel for our wedding anniversary. All I can say is that everything at this hotel, from the staff, the room, amenities, and the restaurants exceeded our expectations. This is truly a world class hotel in the heart of downtown Charleston. For any perspective guests, if you can get Club level rooms, I can't recommend this option enoguh. The extra amenities were absolutely fantastic.

Great location, nice enough staff for 3 to 4 stars, 3 star interior spaces and decor, 1 star management - poor at best, and 3 star spa. The hotel is under construction. I didn't hold that against them, but some might. We had air conditioning problems in our room. Had to call service tech to room twice before getting it fixed. Didn't really hold that against them either.

Beautiful hotel and a perfect location! Staff very nice and accommodating. Weather was perfect! If there is a suggestion to be made.....I would suggest increasing the staff in the Lounge area especially bar from 5:00 on. Waiting in a line for drinks the past two nights (6 people deep) was a negative. The staff was definitely hustling the best they could so an addition of one or two staff members would be a PLUS.

Other then that.....it was delightful!

Wonderful hotel! I stayed there 3 years ago (and am coming back in July) with my wife and dog. This is not your typical pet-friendly hotel - The staff was actually FRIENDLY to the dog, even though he is a 115 pound Rottweiler. Sweetest dog I've ever had and the staff quickly picked up on that. They were a little concerned about him when we first arrived (because he's a LARGE dog and some people have negative perceptions of Rott's), but by the end of the first day everyone was calling him by name and constantly wanting to pet him. The service was outstanding. We had a suite that even included a water bowl for the dog (the bidet - lol!). One night we decided to stay in and order room service from the Charleston Grill and it was fantastic, although I did get a very puzzled "You want WHAT with that?" when I ordered a large side of french fries with an otherwise elegant dinner. It was for the dog - He loves fries - and that got quite the chuckle from the girl taking the order. We can't wait to return this summer!

ONE STAR IS TOO MUCH !

ONE STAR IS TOO MUCH !
Just a nightmare during my stay
Air Conditioning noisy could not sleep for 2 days, i tested the noise 65 DECIBEL!!! SHOULD BE LESS THAN 20 on the top of your head !
And the last night street bar open in front if my window, peoples screaming ,could not sleep again
noisy street (WINDOWS NOT SOUND PROOF AT ALL )
Matress and pillows awful
no room cleaning ,you have to ask for it (covid?)
No roof top bar after 6 pm ( covid?)
No more valet parking (covid?)
No TV signal when it s raining and forget about your tv movies ! No one
Need to update ASAP
No water pressure in the shower
The list is too long
For a 400$ per night hotel room just a shame !
Choose another one ,dont loose your money here

I actually worked here and the coworkers were great but the manager was very rude and not understanding. She was condescending and crude. The lunch was great though and the work was medium but only getting paid 8 dollars to check 400 rooms in 5 hours(if you stay any longer they cut your hours) and restock, wasn't worth it. Not to mention the employee bathroom downstairs was so nasty it was dangerous. On a quick glance it looked neat and tidy till you looked deeper at the snow like mold growing on the toilet paper holder and all the mold suffocating the bathroom. By the time enough people see the dangers of this bathroom they probably will have it cleaned up at soon as they read this post but informing other that everything isn't what it seems in these fancy restaurants is my only goal.

Great location in a vibrant neighborhood, walking distance from markets, shopping, dining. Great room, service. Went to the spa. A bit overpriced but great service and amenities. Very professional. Noticed a few dogs so assume the hotel is dog-friendly.

This place is absolutely beautiful. The moment you walk in the door you feel like royalty. Someone had their wedding here and it was just amazing. Service is very attentive. You will not be disappointed. Shops and restaurants right on the grounds. Or within walking distance you are right in the action. Many sites to see and various shopping and restaurants for every budget.
