Try the flapjacks! Lovely location, very friendly staff, great hot and cold drinks. We were happy enough at that point. And then the freshly-made flapjacks arrived. Sublime!

Brilliant cafe and very friendly staff. Food was delicious and well presented, highly recommend you check this place out. We will definitely be returning to check it out in the summer when you can sit outside and admire the views.

I went there with my mum and dad on our way home from holiday, where we had the most delicious apple turnovers we had ever tasted (with a side order of coffee too). I would highly recommend anyone to stop there for a bite to eat. Right next to it is the Shropshire Union Canal, which is for anyone of all ages to enjoy a nice short walk, maybe a rest after a long drive, or to take into the sound of nature.

Disappointed with rarebit being on a bap cut in half and only toasted on one side ...in my opinion I think it would of been better toasted both sides ..or put on hand cut toasted bread .cheese tasted good ..as did the coffee ..

I love this place. Its so cute! The staff are so lovely and the food and drinks are so nice and such good quality. A good range of stuff too considering it's a small place in a small area! Dogs can have free dog treats too from the counter. They have BBC 6 music playing on the TV. The decor is quirky. It's quite small so can be pushed for seating at weekends but there's outside seating for warmer days. Right by the canal and big enough car park which is free!

Visited for the first time in 6 months after lock down for a coffee. It was busy but a wait of 40 minutes for just 2 coffees particularly when people who came in after us were served does not encourage us to return. Asked twice as to what had happened to our order and was told it was coming. It only appeared after the third time of asking. Perhaps our order of just coffee was too small to bother about. What a shame but it looks as if they can't deal with the extra customers they are attracting.

It s fair to say I ve tried most of the Coffee Houses in the Tarporley area, some good some not so good. But when you find a gem like Lockgate, there is no going back ! Service with a smile is a guarantee, food is prepared fresh for you and baking continues throughout the day. Sit cozy by the fire or catch some rare sun rays out on the deck. Whatever the weather, whatever the age group, whatever your taste, Lockgate has absolutely nailed the Contemporary Coffee House. Talent and service like this is a rare thing, make it a destination when in the Tarporley area.

The Coffee House has a lovely setting by the canal and near Beeston Castle. It has a very welcoming atmosphere which is enhanced by the internal decor (bikes hanging from the ceiling, ornaments, etc.). The food and drinks are delicious. Thank you

Had a lovely trip out to lockgate today as always! I could see the staff were really busy and were working well under all of the new restrictions due to COVID. Beautiful locally sourced food, always worth it. Great job guys, looking forward to returning soon :-)

awful traffic meant we were desperate for a stop off to recharge. This wonderful coffee house ticked all the boxes! Recently opened and well decorated this is a hidden gem, lovely sandwich and hot chocolate. Would definitely recommend

A big improvement on past incarnations at this location. Decent food at reasonable prices. Staff are friendly and efficient. Surroundings are pleasant and comfortable. It's particularly nice in the summer when you can sit outside and enjoy the canal, railway and surrounding countryside. Plenty of parking, but we always may it a cycling destination as we are always well looked after upon arrival.

One of our favourite haunts for both breakfast and lunch. Some unusual items and combinations on the menu, all worth a try, and very, very good coffee! All the sweet stuff is home baked with, yet again, some combinations of ingredients which simply work! The owners are wonderfully friendly and communicative no matter how busy they are. Just one word of warning, check the open days and hours for theirs are not long days!

Full English breakfast was delicious - lovely bacon and sausage and we also really enjoyed the tea and coffee that came with it. One more spoon of beans would have been great!! Lovely staff and surroundings - would definitely recommend.
