I have mixed feelings about it.

I have mixed feelings about it.

I found the staff friendly and attentive but the menu was a bit of a joke. All very simple dishes that you can find in any avarage taverna in italy, just in the centre of London and in a fancy place, and therefore overpriced.

My favourite thing was the bread with incredibile olive oil.
I got fish dishes which were very good, but my boyfriend got meat which I found avarage.

Also, the couple next to us was way too drunk. A married man with his Mistress. We know because they started fighting out loud and I really think someone should have told them to keep it down.

I'd say that you pay location, atmosphere and the star but not for an incredible food experience.

On the end note, we were both sick with our stomach when we came back home!

We went to celebrate a birthday. We had to call the drinks waiter twice in order to order our drinks. The food overall was nice except one of the main risotto dishes was undercooked and had to be sent back. They took very long time between starters and the main course. We didn't mind as we were chilling with good wine. 15 minutes after the main course the waiters started to tell us that we had to leave soon and if we wanted desserts, we had to order even before the main course was finished. Remember we had to send back one of the dishes that was undercooked. When we protested they offered to take away the DISCRETIONARY service charge, which we wouldn't have paid in any case given the service we had received. When we mentioned Trust Pilot and asked for the manager's name suddenly we were offered complimentary desserts! We accept that 10 o'clock was government's deadline. But knowing that management should have been more efficient instead of almost pushing us out even before we had all finished main course. If you are looking for a chilled dinner evening, I am sure there must be many other places in central London than this restaurant at the prices they charge.

PS: I love extra garlic in my risotto, when I asked for it I was given 6 or 7 whole cloves of garlic! I pointed out that they needed to be crushed. They brought them back chopped!! I am sure any Italian restaurant cook would know that it either has to be garlic oil or crushed garlic to mix in a dish.

Very reasonably priced for a Michelin star restaurant in central London. It's a warm intimate environment with small but cosy tables where you can chat with friends. The food was superb. Highly recommend.

I ate well, but a good Italian restaurant abroad (more for English palates) nothing more.
I state that I booked from Italy in advance by email (with some difficulties).
The day before dinner I
They ask for the booking confirmation by email, so I call to confirm, but it was a pity that no one answered, it seemed to be at the telecommunications switchboard.
However, we are able to confirm the reservation for January 2, 2020 at 20.30
We introduce ourselves (from Italy with a gift voucher of 300 euros) that we leave carelessly in the hotel.
The young lady who spoke Italian, but with us English (?!) Rudely sends us back to the hotel to pick it up ...
(but don't they have a computer to check online sales?) ...
I stress that from Cannavaciuolo the same thing, but I had lunch without the voucher ... luckily!
We ask for the Chef and they say he left 20 minutes before (it may be for heaven's sake)
Coincidence maybe, but I have already read about several Italians who received the same answer. Mah ...
Mr. Locatelli I think that if this place is famous, it is also thanks to it, indeed above all to us Italians, and therefore we should be treated a little better
in a restaurant that "should" represent us abroad.

Very formal place so try to go here with work. I work close by and have been here a few times. I have never picked up the bill, but if I did I don't think I would have enjoyed it. You don't really need to pay too much for Italian food as the stuff is just so good anyway. And this place is very formal. The food has always been good, except the last time I went when the pasta was overcooked.

Having watched Giorgio on the telly with Andrew Graham-Dixon I was keen to try out the reputedly 'hearty', 'original' Italian dishes cooked to genuine Italian standards. I hate to say it, because the service was excellent and the wines, the sommelier's suggestion, were delicious. But the food was a huge let down. Proper Michelin style, perfectly presented and perfectly cooked food with all of the 'vulgar' flavour extracted. My rabbit's leg was tender and perfectly cooked but tasted of nothing except the pancetta in which it had been wrapped. My partner's 'charcoal grilled' steak also tasted of nothing much, as though it had been cooked sous vide and finished far too quickly in a pan. The pasta was good but nothing special. Having eaten in a couple of non-Michelin family restaurants in Rome two weeks ago this was a crushing disappointment. It is really Italian 'inspired' standard Michelin, completely unmemorable, anglicised food. Lucky old Andrew Graham-Dixon: he got to eat all the genuine stuff.

Best lasagna I've ever had. It was a little pricy but definitely worth it. The pasta was cooked perfectly, the used ingredients and spices were fresh and I could already smell it from the kitchen door when it was coming to me. Bravo to the chef.

To be a starred restaurant (even if only a star), maybe you expect something more. The restaurant is very nice and elegant, in a nice district of London, adjacent and connected to the Hyatt The Churchill hotel. The service is really impeccable, the guys are all very kind and professional, same goes for the maitre and the sommelier, really good! As soon as they arrive, they make us sit and immediately bring us water and bread (good selection, shame about the absence of the saucer of bread). As an appetizer we take some really good saffron saffron scallops and a salad of artichokes, shallots and parmigiano reggiano also this really good. The first ones did not amaze me; linguini with scampi who knew a lot about tomato (the taste of shrimps was almost completely covered by tomato) and gnocchi with mushrooms and potatoes with black truffles (the truffle was almost tasteless and did not stand out in the plate). How sweet a Bunet (good ... nothing to say) and a tiramisu (perhaps the most normal dish ... good, but in Italy so made and served you pull them back in the restaurant). To drink a Ca 'del bosco (recommended by the sommelier I thank). Good also the pastry accompanying coffee ... except the non-fragrant chatter. The price is right considering the fact that it is a starred restaurant. In the end we would have liked to know even for a minute the chef (who is known not only for his kitchen), but was too busy .................: ))) I understand and thank him anyway with all his super staff for the pleasant experience.

This would be kind of an average Italian restaurant in Italy. Much "Englishised" like many other Italian restaurants. To avoid if you're looking for a truly Italian experience, to go for, otherwise if you're looking for not bad, highly priced, Italian-inspired meals with good service and nice location you might find it nice.

The place is very nice, even if some tables are a little too close together. The welcome is warm, the equipment is elegant, but it has some flaws (there are no saucers for bread). The food is really very good: delicious mushroom dumplings and squid stuffed with garlic bread, as well as the plaice in a basil crust and the roasted partridge. Excellent fried courgettes. The bunet is good, the inn cassata is truly delicious. All portions are really generous. What leaves a little disappointed is the service: the dishes are not served if a table is missing at the table ... The little waiters are very kind, but they don't remember the presentation of the dishes well. Ah, at the end of the meal we "peeked" into the neighbors' table: those you serve as tortellini seemed to be closed like cappelletti ... (we are from Bologna). In two, drinking only water, we spent 154 pounds: good value for money.

Locanda Locatelli is something wonderful. We tried this restaurant with the hope of meeting one of Masterchef's fantastic judges, but also to try out his starred cuisine. TOP service and high quality product quality. I hope we can get back very busy.

I have been to this restaurant a few times, abd always had a good experience. However it was a while since my last visit and I am afraid to say the food was very poor. I am Italian so I kown perfectly well how to judge my cuisine. The atmosphere of the restaurant and the service was very good. But the food, which at the end of the day is the most import part, was truly unimpressing. A starter of bresaola was just a bunch of thick slices of bresaola with a slice of lemon, no shaved parmesan, no shaved celery, or mushrooms. No oil. No pepper. The saddest looking plate, and very booring taste. My seabass filet was probably the worst I have ever eaten. In fact I could not bring myself to eat it. It was not fresh. Sorry but I can cook at a very decent level and I can taste if a fish is not fresh. In particular as it was completely without seasoning of any kind. Just a disproportionate salty taste. I cook wild seabass in salt crust all the time. Maybe Mr Locatelli can come to my house and taste how it should be done. But I cannot imagine he has tasted what they serve in his restaurant for a long time. If he did he would agree with me. To finish our truly unpleasant dinner a very soury lemon sorbetto and some remarably not good sweets and chocolate (that is quite an achievement, to offer bad sweets!). The Restaurant, after seeing that I had not eaten the fish, very kindly (and without being asked) took the cost off the bill. But that is not the point. I was looking forward to a great dinner, and I was let down. After having brought my guests there I can safely say it will not happen again. Signor Locatelli, mi scusi se mi permetto, ma le consiglio di passare un pochino di tempo nella sua cucina e vedere cosa viene servito. Io sono di Bologna, e da noi con il cibo non si scherza. Distinti saluti

I was there last night, great atmosphere and hospitality. Excellent and refined cuisine. Staff of the first level in particular Gustavo and the chef Sergio (Sicilian). A real surprise is the #locistorante #locandalocatelli for a #italiano in #london. I recommend it especially to the #italians who seek Italian excellence abroad.

The expectation was high due to the publicity around the chef. I had a starter, pasta, and cakes. The starter was the best part. The scallop with saffron was amazing. I had fettuccine (castagne e funghi), the taste was good but too much cream. I did not see/taste the art to have tasty foods without using a lot of fats. I had a small taste of the risotto (Barolo and Castelmagno) and it had no taste at all, it was just melted cheese on rice with a bitter taste at the end. I was disappointed. The cakes (cannoli and ricotta with strawberries) were ok but nothing that you will remember forever. The wine was very good a Nebbiolo from the Milan region, a good suggestion from the sommelier. The place is extremely nice for having a nice conversation with friends where great food and wine help you to relax. The staff was helpful, just one guy didn't have the touch to understand when it is the right moment to ask, he was always breaking the conversation which is not acceptable in top-class restaurants. I was expecting to come back home with more good memories of food, but I will only remember a great time with my friends, the scallop with saffron and the wine.

Great food and pleasing portions - often with Italian there's far too much on my plate! Locatelli served good sized light, tasty dishes. All our party enjoyed their meals and the service was pleasant too. The food is pricey but not over priced. The restaurant restrooms are shared with the lobby of the hotel so when you step outside the fine dining ambience is lost, being the reason I dropped a star.

They charge 13% service on the donation they add to the bill. How can that be right? They make money on it. For one thing, if they want to donate to a charity that is their business and up to them -- don't impose it. For two 13% is a massive service charge. But mostly, don't serupticiously add a donation to the bill and also charge service on that so it generates a profit for the restaurant under the guise of a donation.

Aside from that the food was very good, the wine list also extensive but tricky to grasp without a lot of Italian knowledge. Luckily the somelier is a great help and we had an excellent red, just what we wanted really to our taste and matched with our food. The service is also relaxed and friendly - they appear to judge their customers correctly in terms of casual-ness. We had some good chats and the guys are honest and open about the food which is ideal. Having said all that, considering the hype and the number of tourists in this place that use their phones (despite the menu noting their prohibition), this is a 4/5 place you can do better for the money although this is far from bad and you can also do a lot lot worse in London for this price bracket.

Beautiful and elegant London restaurant located within the Hyatt Churchill within walking distance of Oxford Street and Hide Park. Impeccable service but not formal. The food is of excellent quality, not overly sought after. The portions, for a starred restaurant, are abundant and it was not easy to finish two courses and dessert. Prices in line with London and the Michelin star.

After days of searching trip advisor for the perfect restaurant, I Took my Italian girlfriend out for our 6 month anniversary to our first Michelin starred restaurant yesterday evening.

Every part of this dining experience was perfect and we will definitely be going there again until we try all items on the menu.

The Sicilian red prawn and courgette risotto was especially delicious, and the monkfish and Jon dory were the best fish we ve ever tasted.

Food is nice, but far too overpriced for what it is. Been twice. Waiters put on their thickest Italian accent, trying to be authentic, ending up being barely understood and sounding silly.
It has an entertaining factor but becomes a little over the top after a while.

We did a set menu as we were large group in a private area in the restaurant. Every course was amazing. Especially the burrata and the venison. They had gluten free options. Truly special service too, staff had amazing attention to detail.

Spur of the moment walking by with my two boys, aged 13 and 6, and asked if there would be an impromptu seating for us. "Sir, absolutely no problem if you don't mind sitting near the kitchen at the family table for 3." I was totally stoked that we were able to be accommodated and, frankly, I think the table is the best in the house near the kitchen and hustle when you're with the kids. The service was exemplary. The food even more so... For the young boy 6, our waiter suggested and off menu tagliatelle dish with butter and light parmasian. I had the truffle gnocchi (tons of truffle and really amazing gnocchi). The third boy had the lobster linguini. We followed it up with a Scottish beef ribeye, cut in the kitchen and served family style. Fantastic evening and big thanks for accommodating my family while the girls went to a show.

Really lovely and welcoming location.
The pappardelle with venison ragu with Colombian cocoa really good, not to mention the pumpkin malfatti (really spatial).
How seconds, the medallion of venison and partridge with chestnuts and grapes were both spectacular. Fantastic the lemon cream. Good service, you feel like you are in Italy. What: Starry dinner.
