Don't buy used cars from them. Their service system doesn't know you have a warranty even if you purchase one from them. You have to remind them every time you go in for service and get the quote so they can check another system. They don't do very thorough part checks outside the standard service schedule, so you're responsible for riding them on each and every noise and weirdness until it's resolved. The guaranteed paint protective coating warranty is also not reviewed or confirmed, so no one's checking to see if they need to repaint. All of that's annoying, but at least understandable. Though I would've spent over $4K less on useless warranty service if I'd known ahead of time.
But, even if there are Lexus-branded parts in the car that have their own individual warranties labeled on the surface, you're not guaranteed to get service on them, as it depends on how the previous owner purchased and did their paperwork. Which they won't give you, of course, when they sell you the car.
I had an 84-month battery from five years ago (date-stamped) that went bad, and I came in to get it replaced. I understand the need for paperwork, but they sold the car with that part in there, and it's their own branded battery. If it's got a date on it and they sold it to me with their name on it without paperwork, I don't care where the paperwork is. If they're not going to service their own parts, they should just rip the sticker off so you can't tell how old it is at a glance. You made it, it's got a year on it, and it's a manufacturer warranty. So there's proof it's still under the advertised lifetime. Honor your labels.
I had to argue with the service representative for 10 minutes before he'd even *try* to look up the car history or battery to see if I could get it replaced. They finally offered a 25% discount on a new battery, which wasn't bad, but after the frustration of dealing with their useless computer system, their constant paperwork shenanigans, and the disrespect of today's service rep, I left and paid someone else to replace the battery with a brand new one. Literally the first place I saw on the road that handled car batteries and alternators.
I'm not going back, as I'm tired of fighting with their sloppy systems, and I don't appreciate being patronized by an arrogant representative. I can deal with the battery not being under warranty. But you can communicate that with at least a shred of respect. I don't go to Lexus to have someone talk over me and not even *try* to look up car history. Which he eventually did. I'm not even looking at the computer screen. Couldn't he have just politely faked it, and said no, instead of raising his voice and interrupting me? And I certainly don't go there to look up the history of every single part in the car before I buy it. What's the point of a "luxury experience" where you're treated like a scourge and an idiot?
