You are allowed to take non flash photography in some rooms. You can have a friend take a picture of you pretending to smoke Magritte's "This is not a Pipe."

This is a very cool museum, located right next to the tar pits. Make a day of it and do both!

Was here to see art representative of Mexico rich and vibrant cultural history.. beautiful exhibit. As well as costume design for various Operas.. nice mix of differing artistic perspectives.

Im a LACMA Member.
Im not sure that the membership is really worth it unless you live close or go there often.

I live about 10 miles away which is about 30-45 minutes in LA. Im on the fence about whether its really worth it for me to have a membership but I do it every year to support the museum and the arts because to me, THATS WORTH IT.

The have some great revolving exhibits. The regular exhibits are great to see every other time I go. It feels like seeing old friends.

They used to have Sebastian by Picasso but Im not sure if they loaned it out or what. they have the Jester though which is always a highlight.

They also have a GREAT kids program here, check it out.

A wonderful place to take a date or spend an afternoon. Very busy on holidays and on weekends.

The Guillermo Del Toro exhibit was incredible. Not only did it feature props, replicas, concept pieces, and promo art from Del Toro's body of work, it includes selections from his private collection at Bleak House along with biographical and autobiographical commentary regarding the pieces' impacts upon Guillermo's development as an artist and his current work.

There was a lot of beautiful paintings there but some of the exhibits were closed down that I wanted to see so I read it three stars but it was a beautiful experience. It's still worth the visit!

So wonderful, so amazing, it is really lovely to see the Rodin out in the light of day ! Coming from the East Coast I've primarily seen his works indoors at the Brooklyn Museum of Art; including The Burghers of Calais, which is unsurpassed in my opinion. But, there is something to be said for natural daylight and shadows playing in his works. My humble pics don't do the master justice. We also enjoyed the many exhibits on the interior of LACMA, particularly the one with the Japanese parchments.

I absolutely loved this museum of art. I have been to multiple in the country, but this one really goes a little more in depth when it comes to diversity and cultures. I loved the event hosted, with music, food, and just everyone in general enjoying themselves.

Always a great family experience. Viewing art and people and unruly children who should be given an energy drink and a puppy while visiting.

Haha!

If you have children sign up for NEXGEN. Ask upon arrival it's so worth it.

A tad expensive but overall a very high quality museum. The grounds are really nice to walk around (free for anyone!) and there are some places to eat and drink, though incredibly overpriced. It's a huge place so you can't really explore the whole thing in one day unless you really make a point of it. Overall a nice place and had fun with my friends

It was a bit unfortunate for me because they were in the middle of reoganizing the exhibition. So I didn't get to see many art pieces. And for what I saw, it was just personal taste that I'm not interested

I had expected more modern art, but I didn't get it. They then had a part, by some great famous artists.
If you are in NYC, I'm sure you would like LACMA. If you are more into MOMA I would probably opt it out and find another museum. Besides that it is a really nice and very big place.

Angeles of all walks of life pass thru here. This spot is the definition of LA. It's a great place for dates, fun with the kids or just plain ole time to yourself. The parking is free after 7pm if you make a night date out of it. Other than the parking is off 6th St. It will cost about $14.00. Worth the trip, highly recommended.

This is a great museum! It covers all eras of art from ancient through to modern, one of the only museums on earth to do that. The collection is powerful, especially considering this museum started collecting long after museums in other parts of the country. The special exhibits are numerous and always interesting. I became a member 20+ years ago and will be a member for life. Their plans for the future are incredible. The museum is slowly closing galleries now and the older buildings will be demolished. The new museum will open after several years of construction. The plans look amazing and Los Angeles will have another architectural gem, full of world - class art.

Really fun experience. Some of the buildings were closed though since they were preparing to start work on the new building which should last for the next few years. But I enjoyed the experience, especially the Metropolis II piece in the Broad Contemporary Art Museum at LACMA (not to be confused with the Broad Museum downtown). On Friday afternoons (when I happened to go), people have picnics with their friends and family on the lawn inside the museum grounds and bands perform on a stage close to them. Really fun and festive atmosphere.
