Besides the fact that I could go there early and beat the rush, I'd like to give a shout out to all the really helpful and knowledgeable people I met there.
If you're an LL Bean person you must stop. An incredibly huge store with lots to see inside (think large mammal figures like moose, aquariums, etc.). Can't comment on prices as it was more of a tourist stop.
Best quality that can be found anywhere. Even if you aren't looking to purchase anything stop in because the visit alone is an experience. There is always something going on regardless of the season. Fun place.
This is another part of the LL Bean retail campus and is the main company store. Also check the Outlet building for the deals, the Home store for decorating ideas, then the Fishing and Hunting and Hike and Bike to finish up a complete visit to a outdoor themed mecca..
Not a huge fan of their style of clothing, but was thoroughly impressed by their flagship headquarter store. Stocked up on outer wear, which they make very well.
This is one of my favorite places in Freeport ME. Part store, past museum. Excellent merchandise. Even better service! And they are open 24 hours a day.
Another great visit to LLBean. yes things are a bit tightened up with Covid, however I felt the store and staff did a great job in preparing the store for shoppers.
Ok, now that they have changed their credit card to Mastercard they've completely messed up all of our payments!!!!! They said the new cards were coming after June 16th mine came July 15th. They said not to worry if the payments didn't go in in your scheduled due date as no late charges would be applied. Wrong they assessed a late fee (they did remove it after they reviewed the recorded call I had made regarding where and how to make my new payment and I STILL haven't recieved a current bill so how do I set up my payments?) what a comedy of errors!!!!! I'm DONE with Bean's. Poor customer service, poor roll out of their new credit card and just horrible misleading customer service. END UPDATE
Had to change my 5 star review to a 1 star review (and I'm being generous) been shopping there for nearly 40 years. But the other day I went in to buy a new pair of sneakers to replace my old Nike Sneakers. I have to say the staff member didn't seem enthused to help me. I found a pair that I liked but they were the display ones. I asked if there was a discount because they were displays (they have offered one in the past) then asked if they offered a Veterans Discount yet. He seemed a bit miffed, not too helpful and eager to help the nonexistent customers who weren't in the shoe area. Well I think it's time to let my Bean's Credit Card rest for a while, a long while at that. I know that they've made some changes to their return policy (which I have no I problem with since I returned only one product in 4 decades, and bought the newer version the same day) here's my advice to L.L Bean's: you want to stop unwarranted returns, good idea, you don't want to stop happy customers from returning, bad idea. I'm sure I'll cool down in a year or two, till then you're off my shopping and Christmas Shopping radar.
They were great. Took my 87 year old mother in to exchange a pair of boots that were too large. Although the service lady had several customers she never let us feel neglected or hurried. Could not have had better service.
As an Acadian Downeaster who grew up as the son of Maine Master Guide, I've had a lifelong love affair with LL Bean. The whole guarantee thing shows that New England craftsmanship and values soak through the process all the way from workshop to sales and everything in-between.
We just stopped in for a little snack of sushi to tide us over until our Christmas party was to begin. Very friendly staff, really delicious sushi; I wish we could have eaten more.
If you're an outdoors person, this is a fantastic destination. Prices are a bit higher than you might find elsewhere, but they will take anything back at any time, a great guarantee. And the outlet has some real steals, I have some great gear I paid close to nothing for!
It s all about New England. We are up for a handmade trade show and took the time to go to the outlet. My wife found 4 outfits and of course we had to spend time exploring and buying from the other buildings too
I love L.L. Bean. We always visit the store and you cannot beat the guarantee. Others say they will stand by their products, but L.L. Bean actually does.
Didn't buy anything. Cool store, though. Would recommend visiting even if you don't plan on buying anything just to marvel at the stuff they have there.
I live in Maine and go to beans regularly. It always seems that when I go trying to pick up an item they never have it in stock. today was no different. The sales people were incredibly helpful but ultimately they didn't have what I wanted in stock.
Great selection of almost anything you can think of. Prices could be better (lower), but they have a 1year, no-questions-asked return policy. (Used to be lifetime, but people tool advantage of the system)
Great (huge) store. Husband forgot a wide brimmed hat for our kayaking trip and was able to find a good quality one here the night before our trip. Very convenient that it's open 24 hrs a day.
We buy all our outdoor gear at LL Bean. It's a great place to visit for all in the family and a must stop for people touring Maine. Maine at its best!!!
I was really impressed with this flagship store. There was a separate home goods store in addition to their regular store. Definitely worth a visit. Something for everyone!
This place is the best. Never had a bad experience. Even when returning a product that has failed they turn that into a positive experience too. Great people and great products. A part of Maine history.
yourourist trap! Although the staff is well trained and polite, it does not excuse the overpriced, low quality of their merchandise. That, is not to say, that they have poor quality across the board. The LL Bean duck boot is still constructed to the same high standard as always. However, there are several other boots sold throughout the USA that are of the same quality, for quite a bit less money. As for their Home Goods and clothing; you can find a greater variety of better products, at a fraction of the price at Walmarts. Now, If you're one of those people who just have to wear a designer label "on the outside" of your clothing, and don't mind paying a premium for the privilege, then LL Bean is wear you want to shop.
L.L Bean is not doing lifetime guarantees on items anymore. In the long run this will hurt the CEO's pockets. To me its just overpriced Cabelas now. The thrill is gone, as the song goes and my business
I really liked it, a great variety of excellent quality products, and the place where Free Port is located is beautiful and entertaining I had an amazing
Quality clothing but unfortunately we traveled over an hour to pick up hiking apparel that customer service had told us was in stock and wasnt.. We still love Beans though.
L.L. Bean's flagship store is the essence of the Bean brand. You'll find people ranging from true heartened Mainers to out of country tourists coming in to buy all of the gear that they need for their everyday life and adventures.
