This is one of our favorite resorts in the world to visit. The property is fantastic, but that is just the half of it. The staff is what makes the difference here. The effort extends from top to bottom and across all areas of the resort. Everyone pulls together on any request. Example, we were on our first family vacation. Our 2 year old threw up all over the car seat. We cleaned as best we could to finish the drive. Before traveling I called the "at your service" to ask if the had some cleaning supplies for me to do a job I was not really looking forward to. They went above and beyond. Laura from housekeeping met me at the valet and helped me clean it down properly. Incredible service as I can tell you that is not a job anyone looks forward to. The water park for the kids is awesome. They have an adult pool too. Food was exceptional. They look after every detail like a complimentary laundry room that came in real handy. In other words they do not nickle and dime you once you get there, like some places do (Barton Creek Resort is the worst at this!). If you are looking to relax in the Hill Country you are nuts if you don't book here. Our family will be back again and again. Also, big thanks to Shari who took great care of us while checking in.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I called on October 5th and made reservations for January. I called mid-December to ask a question, and they can't find my reservation and said they are full now, so tough luck! I was going to attend a conference that was at that hotel.

Even the supervisor said there's nothing she can do!

I literally ran out of characters trying to explain how terrible our experience was here. To summarize, we had terrible room service, a racist bartender, problems with the room being cleaned, issues with valet and a manager would couldn't care less. The level of service was the worst I have ever experienced, and when I complained to the hotel via their website I was rewarded with an email from Todd the manager promising to teach his team about the importance of having a yes mentality. That really don t even scratch the surface of all the things that went wrong here and really underscored how out of touch they are when it comes to good customer service.

We stayed here for our honeymoon, and it was absolutely fantastic! The food, the activities, the spa and the staff. The campus was clean and beautiful and wonderful to walk around and enjoy. The rooms were spacious and clean and very comfortable. We couldn't have asked for a better experience!

Amazing place to go for a family get away or for couples. You never have to leave this place once your checked in. There is always something to do. If you get hungry there is a restaurant, if you get bored just go out to the swimming pools or grab an inner tube and relax on the lazy river. There is also night life there for adults. (Bars)

Super expensive, but honestly worth it. One of most magical places I've ever been. Everywhere you look is picturesque. Cibolo Moon is an amazing place to eat with exquisite cuisine. The pools, slides, and lazy river are so nice. Everything is nice and clean. OH! And where in the hell else are you going to find SIXTY FIVE INCH TV's in the rooms with Netflix and Hulu support?!?!

Nice

Awesome staycation before back to school. We will definitely be returning. Rooms are clean and spacious. The staff was absolutely pleasant and helpful! Had an amazing time during the day in the water park and enjoyed playing PAC Man Royale and ping pong with the younger kids in the evening! The food in the restaurant was great, while my adult children enjoyed the atmosphere in the amazing sports bar!

The service was lagging a bit, but they definitely made it up with friendliness! There's so much to do and it kept our 8 and 6 year olds happy! Not to mention, the bar kept the 23 and 25 year old happy as well. I can't wait for our future trips.

A truly beautiful hotel, both inside and out. The amenities are well kept and clean. The levels of detail in the layout and decoration is first rate. The staff was equally as great. Downside? Well all that obviously comes with a larger price tag. But worth it for an every now and then experience. Kids want to go back already

The people that worked there were friendly, the food was fantastic , the lazy river was relaxing and the infinity pool for adults only overlooking their PGA golf course was amazing. I would highly recommend for anyone trying to get away for a short time.

I cannot say enough about this place. From the moment I arrived the hospitality was amazing. Staff members were very friendly at all times during my week stay. Rooms were stunning, w/ balcony access. Great views. Personal touch to a welcoming display on the TV to notes left by the cleaning service. The resort amenities were amazing. Everything from a huge pool/lazy river, outside fireplaces, lighted paths, fountains, golf course and wildlife, t his is a top 5 of best resorts!

Great place, my kids love the water park. I love that the provide smores (free) every evening. I love that we don't have to leave the premises for the kids to have fun, they love the water slides and the pool and after it gets dark we play on the vast lawn.

The staff treated us great, from the front desk to the pool and Ciobolo Moon, everyone was very accommodating. We had an amazing overnight stay. Once we got in, it was hard to find a reason to leave.

Lot of fun. The water park has lots to do for all ages. The food and drink is on the pricey side, and was around $200 for 2 adults and 2 kids for the day (lunch, dinner, drinks, snacks).

The view was beautiful and the staff was great. However we went for the waterpark and the water at the park was filled with litter and dirt. On a busy day I could understand but this weekend happened to not be.

Very nice hotel, but for the cost I was expecting more. I stay at hotels often for my job, so I ve seen crappy to lavish . Example, One my favorite hotels is Staybridge because you basically get an apartment for night with breakfast, dinner, gym, pool, sauna included and that s around $100 a night... JW Marriott is $500 or more and you pay for additionals , so the price tag gets up there . Disney world is cheaper. The point is, if you re trying to impress, cost isn t an issue or you want to use the water park during warm months, JW is nice; but I personally felt a little underwhelmed cost/return wise.

Although the facilities are outstanding and waterpark was awesome, I was surprised at the level of concern for potential injuries by the staff and management. After riding the water slide, I got pinned up on a railing with a iron bolt sticking out and it punctured my elbow and left me bleeding profusely. Several patrons noticed my issue and called First Aid, and although they eventually patched me up, nothing was done to correct the problem. I waited at least an hour and called the life guard out and had to point out the iron bolt problem, and eventually they fixed it. No one contacted me regarding my injuries or followed up with me....And I find this disturbing. Management and loss control should have been contacted immediately, regarding the problem. And management should have at least paid for the medical bill as I had to go to emergency clinic the next day, for followup treatment and a tetnus shot...

Grounds and rooms are nice. The food is honestly not that good for a resort.
I get the theme but the constant country music can get annoying, specially because the volume is not background music level; you can t really tune it out. Not all Texans like country music, you know!

The hotel us very nice and water park is terrific. Marriott staff are doing a lot with masking and cleaning to keep you safe. The bonvoy app makes it easy to request more towels etc without having hotel staff in your room. Bonvoy app also lets you chat with questions and staff is very responsive. The kids activities were great and easy to drop into (smores making, cookie decorating, animal rescue experience etc. ) 2 things that were disappointing were a) there are no microwaves in room and in our entire wing of the hotel which was at least a thousand rooms there was literally 1 super weak microwave. So anyone heating a baby bottle or .... had only that one. Hard to believe. And b) they advertise in the app and in the hotel to use the QR code to get updated information on activities, menus and restaurant hours. But it is not up to date. As just one example we saw that cibolo moon was open until 2pm on Saturday so we planned on lunch there. But when we got there at anout 12:30 it was closed and the person cleaning up said they wished they would update the hours etc on the QR code website. So a known issue

We loved our stay at Hill Country Resort and Spa! The staff was welcoming and attentive, food was devine, and the grounds are amazingly beautiful. We loved the holiday events that were going on as well. We will definitely be coming back!

I had an amazing day with old friends, floating around the lazy river, having drinks at the cabana and a wonderful dinner. I've never been to a more beautiful resort. Even the elevators were elegant and spoke to you! Tons of private hangout spots at the pool and cozy alcoves. Truly an amazing place.

It's a nice enough resort, but their handling of the quantity of guests leaves a lot to be desired. Just a suggestion to avoid the valet and self-park.

But for the kid at heart, the lazy river and water slides are ten tons of fun.

Just to start I am a Titanium Member and Lifetime Gold with Marriott. I have called the hotel and chatted via the Marriott application multiple times. My situation is still not handled after 7 attempts.

I called Marriott customer service and was treated like I didn t matter which will more than likely end my desire to stay at any Marriott property.

I had to check out a day early and still was charged for the full stay. I explained my family emergency several times before I left with the folks at the property and booked a new flight home to ensure I didn t get charged.

Now I am stuck with an enormous bill and told that I will have to follow up while dealing with the same family situation.

Beware any changes to your stay!!!! Property and people are incredible and the food was awesome. No reason to leave. I spent a ton of time and money at the resort.

I am sitting in the laundromat on the fourth floor of the JW Marriott in San Antonio Hill country. My room flooded last night and all my clothes are wet. The water came through the wall. JW Marriott has done nothing, nothing, nothing to rectify this situation. So I am spending my vacation in a sad laundromat on the fourth floor of the JW Marriott hill country San Antonio. The front desk was completely unconcerned about the room flooding. It was not even a big rainstorm. Do these rooms have mold? #CustomerServiceFail

The staff is very attentive, and the facility has plenty of distractions, facilities, resources, and otherwise to keep guests entertained for at least a few days. They were finishing room renovations on a significant portion of rooms when I was there, so I suspect a nice experience for many. Mine had not yet been renovated, but even at that, the room and bathroom were comfortably and pleasant; not indulgent. It's off the beaten path, and a fair 20-minute car ride to real concentrated civilization, and slightly farther to San Antonio for more attractions.

JW Marriott is known for great customer service. As we pull up a young man named Dylan H helped us out. Dylan opened our door and greeted us. We felt like royalty when he was unloading our bags at 10:30pm as well as took the luggage cart in. He was very polite and very very professional with his job. He had a very great attitude for being so late in the night. This young man was the star of our night. I hope when we come back, he will still be working here. JW Marriott should have him work inside with the work ethic he has. Couldn t be anymore happy with our stay. Never have had such great customer service like Dylan served us.

The water park was amazing and it was a lot of fun for the kids the slide where they dropped out the floor from under you was fun. however it was too short despite being the best ride there

My truck was broken into in the parking lot and they basically told me it wasn t their problem very unprofessional staff I feel very victimized all over again I do not recommend this hotel because if your car and belongings are stolen or vandalized they will tell you it s not their problem.

Ok stay with friendly staff, decent dining (albeit gouging prices), and a wonderful area to explore. Only 2 stars for two reasons; the pillows provided are incredibly hard to sleep on and it lead to me having sleepless nights at multiple points in my vacation. The entirety of my family agreed on this, so not just a personal issue. The main issue is that, for whatever reason, it wasn't rare for hotel-sponsored golf tournaments/parties to extend in duration to two in the morning with loud blaring music and shouting voices constantly heard through the paper-thin walls. Otherwise, alright stay but very doubtful I'd ever return.

My husband and I chose to stay at the JW Marriott ...

My husband and I chose to stay at the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. We checked in on 8/6 and stayed for 3 nights. Upon arrival, just shy of check in time, we were told our room was not ready. I asked if there was a time in mind on when it would be ready. The front desk associate called housekeeping and informed me the room was indeed ready but not indicated in the system. My husband unloaded our bags onto a cart. {Note: the bell hops no longer do this for you. They no longer assist with bags due to COVID. However, valet is available.} As my husband approaches, the front desk associate tells me he made a mistake, our room was NOT ready. My husband asked a bell hop if we could store our luggage and they said no. That meant, my husband had to unload our bags and place them back in the car. The front desk apologized profusely and told me they would call when our room was ready. We left the hotel to run an errand and returned at 5:30pm. Asked if our room was ready because we did not receive a call and our room was ready! We checked into room 3140. The room was VERY nice. A huge walk out balcony. Huge bathroom with walk in shower and deep bathtub.
There is a sign out front before you enter the hotel that says to wear masks upon entering. I saw so many people that just walked right on in nothing on their faces and they were drinking or eating anything. When checking in, it says to wear a mask when you approach the desk. I saw people not wearing masks and the associates would talk to them as normal. I was very concerned! The day after we checked in, we decided to visit the pool. Well . These folks obviously do not care too much about social distancing. And wearing masks was a courtesy. The water slide omg. Packed full. Lines with people back to back and NO distancing in between. We decided on the adult pool. It filled quickly. We left. The next day, we slept in and decided to visit the pool around 3pm. Well not one chair was open ANY WHERE! It was sooooooooooo packed, we felt uncomfortable and went back to our room. I WAS DISGUSTED! How can the staff allow the pool areas to be as packed as they were?
Let s talk about these restaurants and lounges they advertise
Cibolo Moon: If you need ice, call them. Ice makers were deactivated on each hotel room floor. We got drinks there. It was okay. Except for the kids running around everywhere and the parents taking advantage of the adult time. On average, 1.5 hour wait time for a table. We never ate there.
Tequila Bar: It was barely open.
Crooked Branch: Zzzzzz
High Velocity Sports Bar: Zzzzz
Rivertop Grill: good for drinks and that s about it. It s hardly a restaurant!
18 Oaks: heard from a guest, it s a waste of time and overpriced. We couldn t get reservations and didn t bother trying.
Replenish Spa Bistro: thought this was only for the folks at the spa so we never went.
Starbucks: I will say this was the highlight of the trip. Drinks and food was tasty and on point.
Overall, we will not be returning here. We spent so much money at this hotel for the stay and it was not worth it. It's not safe to stay here during this pandemic.
