Currently residing here. Called in the morning asked for Coffee capsules, hot water and milk. The guys said he will see what he can do . The room service arrives. Hot water and regular water. Hmmm. We are in JWM. what does it mean by what he can do! Just order milk and charge it to my room!
Called yesterday and asked to speak to concierge to let them know my wife s 40th so wanted to plan a small cake or something. Left message to call me back. No call, no acknowledgment, and we are here.
Water in shower stops and come back several times!
My wife under whose reservation this stay is under is a high elite member. No upgrades or anything!
What can I say. Not happy yet. Maybe things will change before we check out.

Every employee that we came across was fantastic. No complaint about the hotel at all. I would recommend this hotel to any and everyone.
Room on 23rd floor had nice view, was kind of smelly, had Christmas colored old looking carpet, and older looking furniture. The bed was comfortable, bathroom clean, and clean sheets and towels. Room service woke us up at 8:47 and when asked to clean when we left, took them 3+ hours to come to our room at which point we were already back in the room and just declined.
Visited for a conference. Beautiful hotel conveniently located near the French quarter.
The hotel is really nice and the pool roof is great. The only thing I did not like was that you basiclly have to do valet parking and it was $50 a night.
Great location and staff. Well maintained property
We have stayed at the JW Marriott in New Orleans several times over the past 5 years and have always enjoyed a pleasant stay. The staff is extremely professional and courteous and go out of their way to make your hotel experience a pleasant one and to make things right.
However, two of the three nights we stayed were close to the elevator on the 11th floor and had an adjoining room. The noise from people getting on and off the elevator and talking loudly while they were waiting for it the was almost non-stop. The guests in the adjoining room we're very obnoxious and loud, waking us up at least two times a night before we called security. The second night they were evicted from the premises. The hotel is serious about their guests not being disturbed! Thank goodness.
I must say that the adjoining room doors did not seal out much noise and it almost sounded like there were no doors between the next room. I believe it was a combination of rowdy, inconsiderate guests, poor design and sound dampening.
It us a descent hotel conveniently located to French quarter
Clean updated rooms. Very comfortable and no issues.
Located blocks from the French Quarter, service is great. The rooms could use some updating, as they're a little 90s looking for the price.
Comfortable, clean, and convenient for business and French Quarter travel.
We actually only went to the Serenity spa in the JW Marriott. We got a couples massage and were pampered and spoiled!
The hotel is very nice and renovated, it has perfect location and the service was excellent. I came for a professional event the food of the event was of very good quality.
The JW Marriott is excellent. It has upscale decor and is located in a prime location. This is actually my second time staying here and it's highly recommended.
Wonderful accommodations and staff was very friendly and helpful. A little noisey from the street and other guests, but not the hotels fault on that.
Overall great Marriott hotel. Staff was above and beyond and rooms were clean. Would recommend for a hotel that's near the french quarter but more cost efficient. Will return for next new orleans trip.
Awesome hotel. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Made my stay really enjoyable. Highly recommend.
My job requires that I travel a lot for so I've probably stayed at 30+ different Marriott properties over the course of the past 4 years for both work and pleasure. In all that time, I have never ever encountered such RUDE and INCOMPETENT front desk receptionists as I have at this particular JW Marriott.
We arrived on Friday at the hotel around 4pm. I was greeted by the front desk receptionist with a scowl on her face and told that our room was not ready yet. When I inquired about when it would be, her response was "I don't know, we'll text you when it's ready". Okay, so is this 1/2 hour from now? 4 hours from now? She says the most she can do is give us access to the executive lounge (which is nothing special to me because I have status with Marriott) and we can just wait. This whole time she's staring at me as if all my questions about when our room would be ready are ridiculous and unwarranted. No apology, nothing. Our room is finally ready 2 hours later and when I go to check-in, she's there again, scowl on her face. I ask for some sort of compensation because of the wait, she offers nothing (still glaring). As a first-timer to the hotel, I also expected to get a rundown on the amenities of the hotel. Nothing was said. I ask to speak to the supervisor and he lets me know that he can give me some monetary credit to the room because of our wait. His attitude was much better and we accepted it. 4 days later, we're checking out, and I just have a feeling that I should go to the front desk to make sure he applied the credit. LO AND BEHOLD- HE DIDN'T. So was he careless? Was he hoping I would not check the folio or my statement and the charge would run through? Either way- no one I talked to at the front desk during my stay was welcoming or friendly. On a more positive note- everyone else working there (doormen, maids, etc.) were all very pleasant, friendly, and competent. I think they need to hire some better front desk receptionists though. Ones that greet you properly with a smile and welcome you to their city. I will not be recommending this hotel to anyone visiting NOLA in the near future. Really quite a disappointment overall since JWs are supposed to be on the better end of their hotel portfolio.
The facilities are top notch and the service is excellent
The hotel itself was great, check in required me to contact home office because of nasty attitude clerk, but our overall experience after that was great.
I really enjoyed the food . It was my first time here, the experience was great , I hope to come again
This is the 3rd time I have been there for Coach's Convention. People are nice and very helpful.
The STORY of ..... JW MARRIOTT NEW ORLEANS. FRIENDSHIP and good TASTE always endures over TIME thanks marcel
The gym was AMAZING with 24-hour access and all needed equipment, from bosu balls to foam rollers in addition to the machines and treadmills. They also provided us with maps of local running routes so we could see the town! Our room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Overall, a great stay!
Beautiful hotel, strategically placed at the cusp of the French Quarters. The Staff was friendly and the room was awesome - just like u would expect of a Marriott.
Their Executive Lounge, on the other hand was a mess. Went to have coffee in the afternoon. and realized that the coffee machine needed servicing. Went for breakfast in the morning, and the place was a disaster. The lounge staff was totally disorganized, they could not keep up with the guests, food trays were empty, floor was dirty with food everywhere, plates and silverware missing, and in general, full chaos. Expected a much higher standard from a Marriott here.
Wish I would have known they were doing a remodel. Didn't learn until check in. Still nice digs. Fasters elevator south of the Mason Dixon.
Location is perfect. Right on Canal. Also LOVE that Fogo de Chao is in the LOBBY of the hotel. Great service. Incredibly friendly staff. Top notch hotel.
I had shoes sitting by the door that were stolen while housekeeping cleaned my room, and I nicely put a request to look into it the next day with name, address, number, and email and was never followed up with by any means of communication.
Best Hotel I have stayed in years. Let use check in hours early and help find us great places to eat! Will be staying here again.
My wife and friend enjoyed their drinks at the bar. Service was quick
Good hotel. Good location. Always a good experience when staying here. I
I was very disappointed in the service I received. My family booked this hotel for our family reunion for July 22-26th. Several people in our group got ripped off! My reservations were booked since May 2015. Every month I was calling to make sure my reservation were set. Each time I called I was assured it was. The week prior to checking in, I called the hotel numerous times to make sure everything was in place for my stay. When I checked into the the hotel I was given the key to my room and upon entering the room I had a king sized bed. Not what I was guaranteed! The gentleman that checked me in knew all along it wasn't what I requested. Once I returned to the desk, he says "Oh we are out of rooms with double beds as you requested, but we can send two pull outs to your room and move you to a double bedroom tomorrow." Well I only got one pullout because the corner room we was given was so small. The next day I called and inquired about the double beds and I was told by Danielle that the double room wasn't ready and she would call me when they were. Never received a call. I was informed later that night after returning to the hotel from an outing that it was confirmed they were sold out of all rooms with double beds. The remainder of my stay insisted of 4 people in a room with one bed and a pull out. Three of us was cramped in one bed and my son slept on the pull out. I was beyond pissed, but for the sake of my children I didn't want to spoil it for them. My stay was very uncomfortable! The next morning, while talking to a staff member, I found out that the hotel was over booked because of a wedding being filmed for the reality show Love and Hip Hop. I was informed that a lot of celebrities were there for the taping. I guess the amount of money I paid was pennies compared to what they profited from the reality show! The hotel issued a warning about not using the water until the advisory was lifted. We waited forever just to get bottled water to use to brush our teeth! The last night of our stay, our toilet flooded. I DIDN'T ENJOY MY STAY HERE AT ALL! Upon checking out, the clerk at the desk said that she would discount my bill one night of parking (valet parking $44.90 per night). I told her no I wanted to speak to the manager so I could give him/her the run down of my stay. The clerk then she says "Oh I can take off one nights stay off your bill. By this time I was livid! I didn't care, I still wanted to speak to the manager and tell him/her about my stay and all the lies told to me while I was there. The clerk finally admitted that the manager wasn't in, so I told her I would wait no matter how long it took after check out! She then came back and said the manager wasn't coming in at all. I knew she was lying to me,but I guess that was another way to try and get me to leave. I made reservations to come back here for my 19th wedding anniversary, but I've already cancelled due to the problems I had with this stay! I will NEVER stay at another Marriott again and that's a PROMISE!
It was dissapointing to attend an exam prep with a room that wouldnt cool and endless construction sounds from the room next door.
Excellent service, by far the best mainstream Marriott property. It's recently renovated and the location is great.
Normal, great bell service, other than that normal 3.5 to 4 star hotel .Room was clean ,the only problem we encountered was the water never got hot only warm
Had dinner after Fogo De Chao. Food was great, service was excellent . Can not wait to return.
Pleased to stay at the hotel. Very clean and well maintained. Staff is friendly. Location is good but parking is expensive. Continental breakfast may be a good add on, if provided. Overall, satisfied with the stay.
The JW Marriott was undoubtedly one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. The rooms were beautifully renovated and super comfy. Moreover the staff was extremely professional and accommodating. The location was also perfect for access to everything. If I could duplicate this experience in every Hotel I stay in going forward this would be exactly what I would want. I give this hotel a 10!
Great location. The lobby bar/restaurant is nice. The rooms are quite dated and did not seem up to par with what you would expect from a JW Marriott.
Cons: The front desk staff were VERY rude, and even openly mocked me. I had negative interactions with at least 3 different front desk people (sneering, laughing at me, talking to me as if I was stupid.)
On my last morning there was a leak in the ceiling in the bathroom and it got all of the towels and the shower curtain wet. When I called the front desk she said, "It is probably just condensation." Um... no. Then I asked for more towels and a new shower curtain and she said, "What for ma'am?" Ummm, so I can take a shower? Why was that her business?
They did send a maintenance guy (who was very nice), and it was fixed within 2 hours, they cleaned it all up, and I had all new towels etc., so they took care of it, I really think the front desk lady was just rude about it (I really don't understand why you would be rude about such a thing.)
Also, randomly, there was no blow dryer in the room. It has probably been over 10 years since I stayed at a hotel and there was no blow dryer in the room. I had an iron, and ironing board, coffee maker, mini fridge, and all kinds of other things, just no blow dryer!
And, the bed was not comfortable, but they kind of made up for it by giving me 6 pillows. :)
These rooms are also expensive, which can be a con if you are not getting service to match the price. What I don't understand is... it doesn't cost anything to be nice to people, so why don't they just do it? Do other people want hotels where the staff is snarky? Do they think it makes the hotel seem more posh?
Oh also, if you don't get them included in your rate, the parking and internet are WAY overpriced. ($17 a day for internet and I think like... $40 a day for parking.)
Pros: Great location, super walkable. The cleaning people were incredible and really detailed. The room was really nice. The people who worked the door were super friendly. The urban landscape views from my room windows were amazing. Besides the blow dryer, it has all of the amenities you would expect from a nice hotel.
It has not been expected. Very expensive for what you receive.
^-- bows and tips hat in your general direction
for us evacs, 3-4 square meals/day, man ...where too start???
Too All staff, Stay Blessed & Beautiful

Excellent customer service experience. Hotel full with football guests Makes for a slow elevator.
The prices are really high. Room service of two smoothies and two blueberry muffins came to a little over $54.00 because of delivery charge, service fees, and taxes.
What an outstanding hotel!
Located across the street from the French Quarter, this modern and upscale property is a welcome escape from the heat, noise and smell of the FQ. A great place for a relaxing stay.
I especially liked the "turn-down" service, with chocolates on my pillow and they even lower the blackout curtains in case you'd like to sleep in!
Very attentive conference staff. The food service was well stocked and cleaned up timely.
Went for lunch at Fogo de Chao. Lunch was great, the valet was very nice, and the hotel looked gorgeous.
Payed 100 bucks more since it was a jw however this seems to be a old hotel location taken over and not fully renovated green carpet anyway is a no the first room we had only hot water no cold my before came out of the shower looking like a lobster the Staff thier is beyond amazing so this review does not reflect the Staff only the bedrooms
The hotel is nice, clean and comfortable. The front desk staff accommodated the request I made of them. The housekeeping staff even made me a towel friend to welcome me to my room.
Parking sucks but I guess should be expected with a downtown hotel
Was Not Happy with the Room was very dirty floor was sticky could not walk around without shoes on. Most of the Staff was friendly, but we did have a few of them that were rude. Overall the hotel itself was nice, the rooms could have been a little cleaner
Great location and great service but beware that construction is going on until late summer 2018. NOLA is a great place so any hotel downtown is immediately a great location, the JW is no exception. There's a ton of great spots within walking distance so don't bother with a car unless you plan to head out of the city. You've got the trolley as an option, along with taxi's, Uber and Lyft. The JW is a beautiful hotel but they're undergoing construction which is unpleasant to say the least. From about 7:30am on you can start up hear the crews moving equipment around even if they aren't working until 9am. But they don't stop until nearly 5 so if you're planning to work from your room, rethink that strategy. Hysterically enough, the concierge told me they were undergoing a 're-imagination' which was absolutely ridiculous to hear.... nice marketing. However, they need it as the rooms feel a bit dated but not so much that you wouldn't enjoy it. The service was great and the restaurant in the lobby was great; although, I can't remember the name of the place. Overall, I'm coming back despite the 're-imagination' because I'm traveling for business. Don't stay here with kids if they like to sleep in. At least until after they are done with construction..... ehem, I mean 're-imagination'.
Good quality hotel and services. Short walk to French quarter
Great recently remodeled hotel that is in a good location. The best hotel gym I have used.
This is a beautiful hotel. It feels brand new since it was completely renovated recently. The rooms are beautifully decorated and are clean. The staff are attentive, caring, and very friendly. From the moment I stepped out of my car upon arrival to the moment I left the hotel to go home, my experience was nothing short of easy. This is one of the nicer JW Marriott hotels I've stayed in, and you will not be disappointed if you stay here while you're in New Orleans. The views of the St. Louis Cathedral are priceless. The fitness center is great as well - I workout regularly, and the fitness center at this JW Marriott had everything I needed for a solid workout. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
Beautiful decor in the lobby up to the rooms. Very spacious, amenities in the room exactly what I need. Very happy with everything going on here
I seriously cannot praise the staff at the JW Marriott enough, they are all amazing! Everyone is so helpful and friendly. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I felt for the price and the type of hotel that they should offer free continental breakfast. Great experience though.
We went to the hotel bar, ordered drinks, then was told the bar wasn't accepting cash. Had the drinks charged to the room. Got locked out of the room because we needed to pay for the drinks..? Went to the front desk to pay for the drinks and ended up being DOUBLE charged for the room.. Spent 10 days repeatedly calling the hotel for them to continuously transfer me to the accounting dept voicemail. I finally called and went off and got Nikki from accounting on the phone. She was very rude. She continuously talked over me, dismissed my frustration, and had the nerve to laugh at the situation that caused many financial issues during my vacation.. She didn't apologize, and didn't care to help. I had to call my bank and solve the problem myself..
