My trip was officially a business trip, but I took the family along for a micro vacation. I'm glad I did! I believe my family had a great time - I'm not not entirely sure because they practically lived at the lazy river for the entire time we were there.

As a meeting place, the resort was perfect. My business contact was there for a separate conference, and there were numerous spots available to escape the larger group and meet privately. The grounds are immaculate, and there is ample seating throughout where work is possible.

The JW Marriott exceeded my expectations in every way, and I can't recommend it highly enough.

The resort is beautiful! The meeting spaces are huge and my group had many places for large assemblies and small breakout groups. The food was always good! I very much hope I get to come back again next year.

Truly an oasis in the desert and in full bloom. The pools, gold course, clubhouse restaurant(s), outdoor fire pits, extensive grounds are AMAZING! The designers wanted to pamper their guests in this warm Arizona retreat in every way.

I had the privilege of staying at the JW Marriott ...

I had the privilege of staying at the JW Marriott in Phoenix recently and I can genuinely say that this is the most luxurious and comfortable Hotel Resort & Spa I have ever stayed at.

The decor and amenities of the rooms are first class, the general resort facilities are very well maintained and in good repair, and the customer service is simply excellent. Staff are super friendly and always with a smile on their faces and willing to help however they can, and its almost as if elves appear when you're not looking to keep the place clean and tidy always.

I am giving JW Marriott 5 stars because I feel they exceeded expectations in almost all areas we experienced, however in saying that, there was also one experience we did not enjoy or appreciate which was disappointing and I really hope this was an isolated incident that management will work on improving.

During our booking process and again during check-in, we were quoted a price that we agreed on. During check-out the guy serving us at the counter who also claimed to be the person in charge (when we asked to speak to a manager) failed to take care of the customer and refused to honor the price they quoted us even though we understand it may have been communicated to us in error. Regardless of it being just a small variance in price, out of principle we requested that they honor the price they quoted but he said there was nothing he could do despite claiming to be the person in charge which I find ludicrous.

This incident was also following the fact that we ordered an additional bed during the booking and reminded again during check-in that was never delivered to the room (so we had to share beds), and that they were out of blankets all throughout the hotel apparently where some of us had to use spare sheets as blankets instead which is odd for a hotel and resort of this caliber. We were fine to adjust and accommodate this as we're not fussy guests, however it is unfortunate we experienced this in the first place on top of the room charge situation...

Regardless, as mentioned they exceeded expectations in pretty much every other aspect of our stay so I'm still giving them 5 stars as compared to other places we've stayed in, we haven't left so relaxed and refreshed as how we left JW Marriott in Phoenix so well done for that. We look forward to visiting again in the future and hope to have an even better experience.

I love this hotel l..... Great staff, beautiful rooms and the grounds are impecable. The staff really seems to care about you and they want you as a customer. Night time when you stroll around the grounds and it's lit up it's very peaceful and very quaint. As you know, our convention season runs from November until the 1st week of June then it completely dies down because it's just too hot in Arizona and the rest of the country has tolerant weather. But during those 6 months, Arizona is the go to place, for most large companies especially the ones who are in the states with snow. It doesn't take a doctorate degree in Engineering to figure that out. Nor does it take that same degree to figure out why all the snowbirds are here but they seem to get here in late October and have generally gone back to their respective States and countries by May.
At least that's what I seem to have figured out.
I have spoken to quite a few people from other states and the one topic that always comes up is the way that Arizona people drive. The main sentence that I always hear is" how come you Arizona people don't know how to merge"? Or they phrase it "why is it that you Arizona drivers don't let people merge into traffic from a gas station, or parking lot, or you don't leave room enough for oncoming traffic at a stop light, you Arizona people will block the intersection".
My reply to them is your right Arizona drivers are rude when it comes to that type of driving situation. Now I lived in California for 42 years because, that's where my business was that's where my job was. I noticed the exact same thing when I moved to Arizona. Which was about 10 years ago. I don't know what it is why people out here they don't want to let people merge from parking lots, driveways, gas station, strip malls, and it is against the law to block an intersection, but people from Arizona do it all the time. Now I know I'm going off subject with the rating the hotel. But the conversation of the hotel and the conventions, and the snowbirds, all tie into other people driving and commenting on the Arizona driver.
But it is true , Arizona driver's don't like to let people out or merge in and I think I have found out why. I have let people move in I'll let him come out of the aforementioned areas and nobody waves or says thank you. Now, to me, oh that makes me angry.
Now, that is so silly of me to get angry because of someone else's stupidity.
By them not acknowledging me, by them not just saying thank you, fellow inhabitant of this planet. Or, thank you for allowing me to go in front of you that was a nice gesture on your part.
But having been out here for 10 years, I begin to see what all of these other drivers are talking about .
Arizona drivers are rude.
But is it that they're rude, or is it because like I have felt hundreds of times, if I let someone out they don't wave to me???
They don't thank me, they don't acknowledge that myself and that person are existing together on this planet on this country in this state???
Just wave to me say thank you. It is just a common courtesy.
Now I grew up in Chicago you let people merge in Chicago they say that you are a doing a random act of kindness.
Now if you have read this post of mine this far, you're probably thinking, either this guy is totally off his rocker, or this guy makes sense.
I don't think there is any Middle Ground to what I'm saying. You either are agreeing with me saying yeah that's why I don't let anybody in because that SOB is not going to thank me and that irritates me. Or, you're going to think that I am so strange, and so bizarre, or, why doesn't this man get a life?
Now, I am really laughing very hard right now and tears are coming out of my eyes because I'm laughing so damn hard.
I will continue to let people out in front of me and do random acts of kindness. Maybe, just maybe, if enough people read this they in turn will do another random act of kindness.
This will start a trend in Arizona to let people out and learn how to merge and be more courteous drivers on the road.

This is a beautiful property with plenty of options. They have 4 pools, a lazy river and hot tubs. All pools are heated. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food so far is pretty good. The rooms are great and have amazing views. All rooms have small balconies, which are great for taking in the beautiful scenery. I was here for a conference and the meeting areas are nice and spacious. They also have daily family activities and a splash pad for kids. It is also about a half mile from shopping area which also has plenty of restaraunts of you are looking to get out. Very peaceful and relaxing getaway location.

Kicked out! My wife was having lunch with one of her friends from out-of-town who was staying there. I dropped my wife off and brought the dog with the intent to walk the dog on the grounds while my wife was having lunch with her friend. The grounds are huge here, and I was not anywhere near the hotel yet a young woman saw me in the distance and walked over a 100 yards to tell me that this is not a pet-friendly hotel. I explained that I was visiting a friend, but I'm sure she didn't believe me. I live in North Scottsdale, why would I drive all this way just to walk my dog. Anyway, I left and went to City North across the street and called my wife and told her what happened and that I would wait there for her call when she finished lunch and the Marriott.

We have eaten at Roy's many times over the years too, at $200 a pop I might add. We will never come back here and spend any of our money, and I will make sure that I tell everyone I know what happened. Even my wife's friend was appalled by the incident and said she won't come back here because she has a dog of her own back home in Michigan.

Great resort, beautiful rooms and grounds. Friendly staff. My only compliant was that in early June the pools were very warm and because it was hot outside, the warm water was not refreshing like you would hope.

So very not happy with the reservation department. We started with being on hold for 21 minutes. And i understand people can be busy. Then the line hung up and we had to start all over again. Then when we finally were connected the second time, 9:38 minutes and seconds later the reservation person said since we booked online (thru the hotel site), we would have to make bed size, and other requests online as well and would not be able to ask for anything to note on our account. It made no sense. It seems like training and customer care take a back to seat to whatever is happening there. Not what we expected from JW Marriott. I always recommend this hotel for all our guests business travelers. Not sure we can anymore.

Staff is really nice. Service is exceptional. Food is solid, it could be better though. Pools are fun to swim in and just sit around it all day and do absolutely nothing. I would highly recommend this resort.

Fantastic well-kept facility. One employee at 1pm gave us two noise complaints in the span on 30 seconds, issuing an ultimatum and threatening a third. He was then rude to the primary guest if the room and attempted to disregard her presence. His name was Edgar.

A wonderful spa. Been here many times. They recently redid the entrance and lobby, sadly it was much nicer before but it is still very classy. Good spa service and amenities. The steam room is top notch, didn't smell eucalyptus this last time but I was kind of plugged up. Really a place you could spend hours at.

Staff is always accommodating. Those Mormons provide excellent service at Marriot.

I will never stay at a different resort again. My fiance and I had honestly the most incredible experience during our mini COVID staycation. Every few minutes we would talk about how clean and beautiful the property was, how incredibly kind and helpful the staff was, and how serene the pool and lazy river were. Mia and Connor at the pool made our stay even more memorable. Additionally, our room was perfect in every way. We are already talking about our next stay. Thanks to everyone at this amazing resort and an additional thank you to making us feel so safe during COVID.

Great place to stay. I had a real estate conference here, and was very pleased overall.

Vitamin D- The pool area was clean, with friendly staff services and tasty drinks. There are a variety of locations around the pool(s) to relax and unwind. The restaurants and food are also good.

Lots happening working the grounds to keeps busy.
The rooms are lovely & quiet. The grounds are so well-kept and cared for. Lazy river, huge outdoor patios with pits are awesome.
The area around the resort is loaded with things to do also.

The price is a bit high, that's the only reason I shared 4-stars.
