Nice, but with quirks. Accommodations adequate, bathroom tiny, shower pressure bad. My room at the end had additional windows high above the bed...but no shades! Bright sun in early a.m. Best part was the beautiful beach !

My wife, kids, and I stayed for three nights. The beach was magnificent (we saw a seal swimming near the shore), beautiful blue water, heated indoor pool (great for the kids), and the room was really nice and clean. There's a large food trailer on prem; the food is reasonably priced, very good, and the portions were large. The staff was courteous and polite, and at times played with my kids. Very reasonably priced considering you're just a few steps from the beach.
Just stayed 2 nights at the Watersedge building. Room I had was nice. View was great. Since it was off season the area was quite. Debra at front desk was helpful. Since I believe these are individual co-op units, which then can be rented out, I can see how the rooms can be different from each other. Liked that it was located right on the beach.
While the Wavecrest may not provide luxury accommodations, they do give you everything you need to enjoy your time in Montauk. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and right on the water. Soak up some sun at the private access beach or drive into town, just a few minutes down the road. Either way, you'll enjoy your stay.
We loved our girls weekend. Rooms were clean and full of everything you would need. What a beautiful view as well. Pool was warm and clean. We ll be back!
I think 4.5 stars would be better, but Google doesn't give that option. Good location, nice beach, nice and helpful staff. Place could be a strong 5 star with a little work on landscaping, new mattresses and having professionals update the rooms. Very clean though, which is why I would like to give them the extra 1/2 star.
Great Location! Beautiful views with a awesome beach. I stayed last summer with my wife and children. We had a great experience and would love to return in the future. The only negative is I am disabled and parking near my room and throughout the resort was difficult. I usually had to walk a good distance up hill which is very difficult for me and it was very inconvenient .Other than that we had some great stay. Room was cleaning and comfortable. Kids enjoyed themselves as well which is always a plus. Staff was very friendly and easily gets a 5 star rating.
Stayed at the Overlook. Suites are great, bedroom, plus living room with kitchenette! Balcony with lounges and chairs. They will set you up on the beach with chairs, lounges and umbrellas as well. Food on site during the day. A great place to stay in Montauk!!
My husband and I came here for the weekend (off season) for our anniversary, and the view from the room is gorgeous! We also love that we have a fully equipped kitchen because my husband loves to cook and it helped us save on dining expenses! The worst part of the room was that the tv in the bedroom is ancient. It is also connected to much nicer tv in the living room area. So if you turn off the living room tv, the bedroom turns off too. If you change the channel, the other one changes with it. The bathroom is fine, nothing special about it. But make sure you bring shampoo & conditioner because they don't provide any. Overall, it is a beautiful location and I could definitely see us coming back!
The resort was nice and the private beach was beautiful.
The front desk staff had to be some of the meanest, most miserable people I've ever interacted with. Started my weekend off aggravated. Maybe go elsewhere.
Visited last year for our 12th anniversary, the staff was very attentive and friendly, we had a wonderful stay. The room was clean, spacious and the views outstanding. Highly recommend them for a stay on the East End.
My husband and I had a wonderful stay for the 4th The hotel is beautiful, the staff is great, the beach is perfect and it's just a short ride into town. We will be back!!
Fantastic views. The balcony is big! Rooms a little dated but having a fridge, microwave, stove and fully equiped kitchen makes up for it.... will return for sure. Quiet, relaxing, amazing place
Perfect place to just chill. Rooms on the beach have a beautiful view and balcony. Relaxing until someone nearby lights up a stogie and you have to listen to your wife complain about it. That's not the resorts fault though. Food truck was awesome and delicious for breakfast and lunch. Rooms are nice enough for a beach resort. We stayed in Waters edge room which were clean but not the updated rooms they show on the website. Good enough for a beach resort.
We have been going to Wavecrest for many years. Only place that the beach is right there walk out of your room and you are on the beach. Plus they have a nice indoor heated pool. The staff are all very nice and the rooms are comfortable. This is our great place to relax and feel good.
DO NOT GO HERE! I am absolutely disgusted with this resort. I have been going here for many years and each year it gets worse and worse, but have to say this year topped it off! Booked a quick little get away with family and from the minute we arrived I was uncomfortable. Our room was ready but we could not go in until the 3pm check in - god forbid they gave us 3 extra hours. Arrive to the beach where there were sketchy employees drinking in public and they were there beach staff! Witnessed a female who was with the staff erratically pulling on car doors stealing items from cars while staff were looking out. Proceed to then catch her hanging out of my car trying to steal personal items from it - she runs off. I alert the front desk and they didn't contact police, of which I then did. They apprehend her and as they are investigating others resort vacationers come out and they too had items stolen. In addition to having their rooms broken into. It was also discovered that copies of room keys were hidden by front doors!! At this point, we are fully disgusted and asked to get reimbursed as we could not get out of their fast enough. The front desk was nasty, rude and obnoxious as it was our fault we called the police and brought this negative publicity. They gave us a hard time and made us feel as we were the culprits rather than the victims. Meanwhile it was their OWN employees involved. STAY AWAY!
Gave Wavecrest one last try. Coming here for many years but getting very rundown and terrible hospitality. Cleaning staff horrible. Front desk staff no better. No cell phone service. This place is a has been.
I go back evety year to Wavecrest. The accomodations are good and clean. The service staff is friendly and helpful.. The beach is clean and the ocean beautiful!
I went on 6/5/20 for the first time on my birthday, and we were still going through COVID-19. The room where I stayed was spotless! Everything was neat, clean, and just right for me. The ocean view was spectacular, and the staff was friendly. I would have given this review a 5, but we had no signal on the T.V., but after calling the front desk, they sent Uford, and after a while, he was able to fix the problem. Also, they were not giving the free breakfast nor the discounts for meals, which I understand they usually give, all due to the pandemic. Still, it was a relaxing stay. I will be returning to Wavecrest Resort soon.
stay during last weekend due to a wedding, the only pro was the beach. I imagine people who gave a 5 star was just for the beach or they never stay in someplace else. I was expecting more for a $400 a night, low quality so it reminds me more like a motel. We had two rooms one was the "garden" but it was just small strip of bushes in the entrance of the facility, lousy wifi, old rooms, that needs to be updated completely. The glass from the entry door had marks that looked like grease, the motel style and old AC was next to the entry door and opposite to the sink, when using the sink is freezing, but too hot in the bedroom area since there was a wall separating both spaces. The bathroom was tiny, only available was 4 tiny motel style soaps, the shower drain was broken and there was black mold vertically running along the edge of the door. Some floor vinyl tiles were in bad shape and lifted. The shelf on top with microwave was concave due to the weight of it, there was no safe for valuables. The rod of the Walmart style cabinet for hanging the clothes was not secure, so it fell with the clothes to the ground, so I'm glad that they were in a garment bag.
Wonderful casual place to stay, very clean, warm friendly staff, fabulous location. Food truck is convenient and delicious! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, wish it was longer! Will be staying again!!
Private resort right on beach in Montauk ny. Amazing views, relaxing vacay, indoor heated pool, food truck on weekends. Family style vacation, bbq & picnic tables, so relaxing.
I think the Wavecrest is a very acceptable place. The rooms are clean and the beach access is super convenient. I think it's biggest issues are really just that it's 'no frill's', and maybe a bit run down in it's old age. I don't think you'll be disappointed staying, but those seeking more upscale accommodations might want to check out some of the other resorts in Montauk.
Upon entering our room we were filled with disappointment. First of all the room smelled overwhelmingly moldy. In the bathroom, there was wet black mold in between the tiles near the floor, the molding around the bathroom door was moldy and swollen, and you could barely shut the door because of it. Seems like there was water damage that was never properly repaired. The walls of the bathroom were all white with makeup smears and dirty hand prints all over. I also didn't like that there wasn't much furniture to put your things down. I didn't want to put my stuff on the floor and the dresser was this tiny thing maybe 3ft wide. We called the front desk and said nicely this room is unacceptable especially for over $300/night. They quickly upgraded us to a better room with a better view. We were satisfied with the upgraded room. But the biggest reason we won't be returning to Wavecrest is the attitude of the front desk people. As soon as we got to our new room a woman came over and said she was the one who sold us the room and she takes pride in her sales and that she had just come from the original room she had sold us and there's no sign or smell of any mold. I was really taken back because it was a very strong smell and you could see it! So we went down to the room and I took a tissue and wiped the wet black mold in the bathroom to show her to which she responded that she smells nothing and tried comparing the black on the tissue to dirt you will find in a hotel anywhere you go. It's not like I wiped the floor in the dirtiest corner of the room and complained of dirt. Anyway the woman denied the mold up and down and it just made us feel like they thought we were trying to get over on them for a better room. We had only one other interaction with the front desk people and they were not so friendly to the people before us or us.
Montauk is beautiful and the Wavecrest does a wonderful job at keeping up with it's scenery. Beautiful rooms overlook the water, just feet from the sand. Great views. Lovely staff. Will come again for sure!
A delightful, beautiful resort with a panoramic view of the ocean especially on a moonlit night. The room was very clean and the housekeeping staff went out of their way to provide service. I especially love the service by the beach boys - they set up free beach lounges and umbrellas as soon as you asked for them. The indoor heated pool was large and clean, as was the adjacent terrace set with flowers, umbrellas and chaise lounges. Great for family gatherings, especially with small children. I also enjoyed the sun deck with charcoal grill . A perfect place to share a meal with family. Check in was made easy as the office staff was very friendly and informative about restaurants, and shopping.
The photos advertised on the website look nothing like the rooms. Look at the google photos instead, they are accurate. The decor is outdated and none of the bathrooms or kitchens have been renovated. You may think only some rooms are not renovated and some must surely looks like the sparkly photos on the website. Nope, when we commented on our disappointment in the room and pondered if it was a mistake the staff got incredibly defense and would not discuss any form of compensation. I wish someone had told us our room would not look as pictured.
Despite the bad reviews. The Wavecrest turned out to be great!! We stayed in room174 in watersedge. The views are absolutely beautiful and the people are very nice.
a nice place to share with family, very clean private beach has full kitchen with everything to be able to cook, has a pool inside that helps you relax when it is a little cold, friendly staff, it is a good place to go to relax
Booked the Wavecrest on a Thursday for a Friday check in.
We stayed in the Beach Dune building. 2nd floor which is oceanfront and adults only.
Nicely appointed room which looked newly renovated. Large balcony with 2 loungers, 2 chairs and a little table overlooking the ocean.
Room had 2 beds, table with 2 chairs. Dresser, nightstand. Kitchenette, small refrigerator, sink and a 2 burner stove. Bathroom with a shower and toilet. Sink and large vanity outside of the bathroom. Large closet. Flat screen tv.
Beach is literally right there. Umbrellas and loungers are included. Indoor pool and loungers nearby. Outdoor large metal tables and chairs with umbrellas available as well.
Wave Crave food truck is on the premises. Please read my review on that for more info.
The Hopper bus picks up in front of the Wavecrest on Old Montauk Hwy at 02 and 32 minutes after the hour to bring you into town. They will take you to a lot of destinations in Montauk. Runs until approx 10pm depending on where you pick it up from. Very convenient!
I go here every year with the family the beach is steps away, they have chairs available, there's an indoor pool and there's a food truck during the Summer and part of the Fall. We have an efficiency unit, we stayed in the one-bedroom as well as the studios and have been pleased with them all.
I would give this place one star only because if had a beautiful ocean view. I've stayed at other places in Montauk and had much better experiences. This place was expensive and looked like a low income housing rental. The bathroom sink was in the same room as the kitchen (Ugh). The floor mats were dirty and cheap. The towels were piled on the toilet bowl tank with an extra roll of paper and a box of tissues. The bedding was ugly and old and the beds squeaked with every move you made. The best was the sliding glass doors that were ridiculous to open and close (rusted and hard to lock) the screen kept falling off the hinges. The shower water would turn steaming hot and ice cold and the shower head was old and rusted. Parking was a nightmare (not enough spaces). The cheap toilet seat was even chipped in 2 spots. This place was not appealing .
Our room was so dirty we checked out early. Dust acomalated for years .great view horrible cleaning staff. One good thing to say about this place the food truck had excellent food
Sort of comparable to glamping (fancy camping). I wouldn t refer to this place as a resort since there is very little amenities. If there are other spots open spend a bit more and stay elsewhere. We stayed here mainly because we booked last minute.
We spent our time sleeping here and then hanging out and eating at the resort up the road.
The rooms were clean and roomy, with a fridge, microwave and a small cook top. Most have an ocean facing balcony. The wifi was consistent and strong, which is a necessity, as cell coverage is virtually non existent at the location. There is a heated indoor pool, which was spotless. Beach access with cabanas, chairs and chaise lounges is available. The view is spectacular. There is nothing like a Montauk sunrise!
