In my latest experience with them, John Lewis' customer service and interdepartmental communications have been absolutely appalling. If you do not even go on to read the rest of my scathing review, just take away this: DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE OF PURCHASING ANYTHING IMPORTANT, EVER, FROM JOHN LEWIS.

I ordered a the lovely-looking Sacha sofa (on August 7th) which stated it would take 9 weeks to arrive. On the 15th of August, I was told in am email: "your order should be ready for delivery by the 9th of October". I was called the day before the sofa was supposed to be ready for delivery, on the 8th of October, and told (in a nutshell): "actually, sorry, we don't have your sofa yet". Apparently John Lewis get the Sacha sofa from a distributor, and not only do they not have access the that company's "system"; they seemingly had no way of efficiently contacting their distributor in order to tell me where the sofa currently was and when it would be with me.



After all this, I asked to lodge a complaint - the manager told me that I could lodge a complaint but that they would consider it immediately "resolved" as they had done everything they were legally required to as specified in their fine print. This was the most lacklustre customer service experience I ever had, and from such a household name! They should be ashamed!

The sofa finally arrived today - no end to the drama either. Despite the fact that, on 4 separate phone calls, John Lewis were informed that the delivery address was a 4th-floor walkup sans lift, the deliverymen were still baffled upon learning this and were clearly not in the loop, nor were very happy about what to them was a sudden realisation. Clearly John Lewis don t treat their customers, or even their staff, very well.

I will be telling everyone I can, far and wide, NEVER to order anything, high or low value, from John Lewis unless they'd like multiple delivery delays and to be told their opinion doesn't matter as long as the legalities of the situation have been upheld. John Lewis is a company that clearly cares about making a profit - whilst doing only what they are legally obliged to do - and could not give a flying monkeys' about customer satisfaction.

Well-stocked department store where you can find from clothing to food, I found a good quality / price ratio, very kind and welcoming staff, much attention is paid to hygiene in this period of covid. I bought several items of clothing, one of them on sale, washing machine test passed brilliantly, colors and dimensions intact.

A great retail experience -- impeccable, friendly service. Can't come close to replicating this on-line...

Nice and cool inside, better than others. Good range of products in a clearance sale.

Large store with so much to look at - sells everything you could need! You also get a free coffee and cake in the cafe with a John Lewis card

Did some Xmas shopping in this flagship store and found what I wanted but had to hang around waiting for staff to help.

Always great service and particularly helpful with my little granddaughter today, calming her down when she was distressed after falling. Thank you

Asked for directions when I was on Ground floor. Got to 5th floor. Enquiry as to product awswrred. Service at till too good.(They kept and dispised of my old suitcase) Perfect.

Staff on the floor were hard to find! It wasn't busy, which was good.

I just love John Lewis for what it stands for. Customer service is at its best in there. They do everything to accommodate your needs but you can tell it comes naturally. Maybe people are good actors, don t know, but still a great experience and never disappoints.

I attempted to use a gift card, given to me 2 or 3 years ago as a birthday gift by my niece, which I promptly mislaid and found again this week - it turns out they apparently expire after two years. I have bought many gift cards from JLP over the years and have never been told this, so I will no longer be using John Lewis and will caution friends and family to do the same!

I rarely do three star reviews but this was originally going to be a four star one, save for a rather awkward conversation with one of their sales reps.

I highly recommend John Lewis as a store, preferably to purchase goods from mostly online because of their great after-sales service. An automatic extended warranty for many of their products, and almost a no-hassle approach to returning items.

This particular time I was looking for a new laptop and got talking to one of the sales reps. I was specifically looking for a Windows based machine but was urged to get a Mac instead. To cut a long story short, I essentially got face to face with an Apple fanboy and it was rather unpleasant when all my requirements for a Windows machine could be supported by running CrossOver, an extra premium on top of the already expensive option if I chose a Mac.

Because of this I ended up purchasing a laptop at Dell's website. Still, the store itself is great, very easy to walk around and find things for your loved ones especially during the holidays, and most of the staff are extremely professional and helpful!

Best for buying Lego as they usually have the sets which might be out of stock online.

I love shopping at John Lewis (online especially, in store not so much). Their website is simple and user friendly. They have a variety of products in different price range. Their own JL line is innovative and have good selection of basics at good price. Their customer service is top notch. I am never disappointed.

Bigger than you'd probably find in your home town but still terribly over-expensive.

It s a great big John Lewis, what more do you need to know? It s on Oxford street and so is generally absolutely rammed.

It's an experience of shopping and browsing like none other. Always fun to return here.

Terrible! Symbol of mediocrity for a nation. Instead just buy local, buy independent, and if all else fails buy direct from the supplier instead instead of through JL - you ll be happier! :)

Popular department store but I find it's lacking younger people clothes. Otherwise you can probably find what you need here

Great shopping center, the yarn department has a lot of exciting.

Try not to get lost, because this John Lewis is huge. You'll find everything you need in this department store, especially if you're looking for a gift for anyone. Worth a visit!

If you like shopping, you ll love John Lewis! This department store is the larger of the two that currently exist (there is going to be a John Lewis at Westfield s, or by the time you read this, it will probably already be built). Altogether, this place is huge and there s quite a lot to do.

For quality household and kids items I will shop here anytime in London. Good quality all round in items stocked in other departments too
