Cardiologist gave me a very high prescription for my high blood pressure I was knocked out for 3 days. I also suffer from chronic edema and had an eye stroke which left me partially blind on my right eye. Doctor said he doubt I was blind or had a stroke due to my age. But recognizes that I have a heart condition.

Going to the hospital/orthodontist kinda feels like going to the casino. If you're not careful you could gamble away everything you own. Booked an appointment to pull 4 wisdom teeth. Estimated facility charges $1700.00 (this is for letting me exist in the facility at the planned service date. It excludes the consultation I already had ($500) which I paid for, it also excludes the cost of services - the act of actually pulling teeth and providing anesthesia which would probably be about another $2000). I cancelled my appointment. Why do I keep getting referred to #Jeffersonhealth ?

I experienced this hospital when my norm became interrupted with my husband sudden illness. I must confess the Cardiac and Neurology ICU Unit providers/nurses were very professional and displayed such passion. I appreciated them calling and making sure I understood everything that was going on with my husband.

Terrible experience here. Routine check-up turned into a sales pitch for all kinds of procedures and follow-up exams that are completely unnecessary. I thought this was a doctor's office, but they treat people like we're buying a used car. The medical professionals there should be ashamed to work at Jefferson.

First I want to say that I am immensely grateful to Wills Eye for the emergency service on a Sunday. However, that is where my gratitude stops. If you want courteous, considerate or prompt treatment, do not go to Mid Atlantic RETINA. In my two follow up appointments, I was extremely disappointed that even though I had an appointment, I was made to wait 3 hours on the first visit and 4 hours on the second without the courtesy on an update to my status. When I thought they had forgotten about me and I finally approached someone, I was told I should expect a 3 to 4 hour wait. How unprofessional

Other observations during my visit were:
There was water but no cups at either station.
II was in a medical facility. If I wanted handsanitizer I had to go into someone s office or an exam room
When I got into the exam room, there was trash on the floor.
When I called with what I thought was a problem the doctor never retuned my call.
Finally, after my second visit I requested that information about my case be sent to my primary. When I went for a checkup, she was totally unaware having received nothing. I need to keep her current on my health issues.

Please note, for the cancer center, do not bring children under 16 to appointments. You better get a babysitter or something. They don t tell you this, so if getting a babysitter is hard, don t come here. I understand that they don t want kids seeing the horrors of the disease but that should be something they inform all patients that have an appointment with them. No kids allowed.

For a hospital that is said to be the top in the nation, the ER was an absolute horror. Security makes you feel like you re a criminal for coming in; with their rude responses and cold demeanor. I did complain of heart issues to the registrar who did get a tech promptly to do an EKG, but of course my skipped beats stopped during the EKG. The waiting areas are littered with people dipping out, screaming on cell phones and slumped over in wheelchairs lined in the hallways. Once seen by the physician (who ran through a fast script I heard him give to two other rooms before me) he reminded me that they re very busy and it would be a bit to further tests. They tried to make me sit back in the waiting area (which is literally 15 bench chairs, obviously full). So I stood there for a second, and security literally was just like If you want to leave the exit is here . I said I d be leaving with no one knowing or signing AMA he responded so? . The registrar asked my name and says he ll sign me out. So I left. I will never go to that hospital. I m instructing everyone close to me to please have me sent to any other facility in case of emergency. This was utter madness. (I have previous experience working for hospitals and medical facilities. I know what expectations are realistic, Jefferson met none of them.)

This is the worst hospital in Philadelphia. One of the doctors told everyone that came to my room that I didn t want help so they sent security to my room to see me out with a IV still in my arm. Not only that I have black an purple bruises on my arm from them fishing around in my arm with a needle looking for a vein that was never there. It took for me to get stuck 7 times before they got blood. This is a really bad hospital please don t go there. For my first and last time here I will never forget this experience.

I had surgery with the otolaryngology department, and the experience having to go through their office to try to reach someone is appalling and impossible.

I waited 3 days to a question left on the office number about a possible post surgery INFECTION and no one replied. No email address was ever given to me to contact the office. That place is a mess and needs to rejoin this century. Or maybe just care about its patients. Save yourself some suffering and go to Penn.

Anytime I have had to visit this hospital, the staff seems more focused on getting people in and out rather than if they re actually okay. I was recently slipped something while out, don t remember falling, having an ambulance called and being admitted to the hospital and I woke up in a hospital bed with blood still all over my face. The doctors and nurses continued to ask me accusatory questions when I woke up, CLEARLY groggy and not the normal hangover-y symptoms (which they should probably be able to recognize?), despite telling them I don t remember anything, I actually drank less than I usually do when out so I was most likely drugged and said that to all of them multiple times. They said something about lab tests being a hassle but if that was really the route I wanted to go that they d look into it . I found this experience really disturbing and I just got off the phone with them to see how to go about getting a detailed account of what happened and while the employee on the phone gave helpful information (second star), their tone was dismissive and irritated which I find is really disrespectful especially considering the circumstances under which I ended up there. The especially dismissive doctor that told me I should basically just let go of the fact that I was almost certainly drugged is Brendan Carr.

I m usually very respectful and understanding of the taxing and necessary careers of doctors and nurses which is why this experience was especially disheartening at best. I get that being a doctor is a well-paying and prestigious position in society but if you don t actually care about people s well-being, why are you doing it?

I would not recommend this hospital for your worst enemy. If you love your family member you would heave my warning. If you already here good luck.

Horrible place to work. My wife was wrongfully terminated due to being pregnant. While there she was harrassed multiple times by male workers which I will not go into details on here. One of the make workers who continually harrassed her and contributed to her departure was later fired for admitting that he was changing orders on her tray and sabotaging her work to get her fired. Everyone from her co workers to the upoer management was not fit to be in a position to deal with people let alone the peoples health. This was at the Cherry Hill NJ campus. Someone from corp should really go there and investigate and poll the employees on the satisfaction level of this place. I for one will not be going here for my medical care ever.

Saw Dr. Janis Bonat. Either her or the billing department here is the WORST when it comes to documentation and billing. I had a routine physical (100% covered by my insurance) back in May 2017, but the billing department keeps trying to bill me for an "office visit" which is NOT completely covered by my insurance. I have called three times. Each time I am told they will need to spend 30-40 days reviewing. Each time I do not hear of a resolution. They just keep sending me bills and threatening to send me to collections for an "office visit" that never happened. I will definitely never go back to this doctor's office again.

Update: After not hearing anything for six months - I was officially sent to collections. DO NOT GO HERE!

Update 2: I went in person and got the billing manager's information. I spoke with her who spoke with Dr. Janis Bonat and, apparently, it was NOT a mistake on their end. They called it an "office visit" because I asked about contraception during my physical (which is something also covered by the Affordable Care Act). I eventually ended up paying the bill because I didn't want it to hurt my credit. And then they sent me ANOTHER bill (they changed the original bill to ADD the physical ON TOP OF the already billed "office visit"). I called them to ask about it and they said, "Oh, you paid already? Oops. We owe you money then because we resubmitted the bill to your insurance and they paid part of it." That was several months ago and I still have not seen the money they owe me.

The ONLY reason jefferson is getting 5 stars for me is because ONE nurse extern has always gone above and beyond without me asking. I m on the 9th floor ortho unit and her name is Monica .... i never ever have to ask for anything she just does it for me ... she s the only person who s made and changed my sheets without me asking (2 days in a row she changed them) without her i would be laying on the same sheets for weeks ... when she s not here and i hit the call button and ask for a cup of water they say okay and never show. I get nurses are busy but i have to ask or beg for anything around here and i still NEVER GET IT. Monica shows her patients respect and makes them fee comfortable ... if i could hug her and show her i appreciate her i would. A nurse or anyone should always make sure their Paitent is okay I ve been here so long i feel depressed but Monica brings in a ray of sun for me and restores my faith.. thank you Monica !!!!

Every single time I come to the hospital, I have to deal with constant unprofessional, disrespectful, and uneducated security personnel.

The officers at the desk (especially on the 11th street entrances) alway have a terrible attitude, say sarcastic commentary, and have even started unnecessary arguments.

Jefferson's security personnel make me feel very unwelcome.

I have never encountered a professional institution with so many incompetent security personnel.

These are the first people that guests and visitors encounter and to have to have such unprofessional security staff ruins the rest of the experience.

Please do something about security front desk personnel. I and several associates have experienced unprofessional situations that would never be tolerated anywhere else.

By far the worst hospital I ve ever been to went in with severe chest pain with a history of PE and a blood clotting disorder. I was place in the waiting room for hours without being seen. Then when I asked to speak with someone I was told rudely that it was busy and I would be seen shortly. I will never step foot in this hospital again.

Had an EKG. Was told by the PA running it that there were problems with it and they will want to run more tests. 8 days later no one has read the report yet. I sit and wait having chess pains. How an EKG is not read for over a week is mind boggling. My brother-in-law just passed away from cancer. He was being treated at Abington Hospital. Absolutely horrible. The nurses there told him to complain to everyone. The quality of care since Jefferson took it over was pathetic. His team of cancer doctors did not make hospital visits. Every time he was admitted to the hospital, doctors who knew nothing about him, would visit. They had no idea what was wrong with him. He wasted away with little or no help. The nurses said this was common since Jefferson took over.

For someone in the emergency room, I feel Like I SHOULD be checked on at least every hour, but hours go on end without any checkin. All machines started beeping and they all acted as if nothing was going on. Im am deeply offended and can truly say The UPENN hospital will always be better than this fake hopsipal

My son was in the neurology intensive care unit with a traumatic brain injury for a month. He was not expected to live. I can t say enough about the expert care he received by the doctors and nurses!! To say it was a difficult time for our family would be an understatement. Kevin is truly a miracle as he is recovered and back to work. I thank God every day! If it wasn t for the excellent doctors and nurses my son would not be with us today. The staff were all so supportive and kept us informed with every detail. They are truly amazing professionals. God bless you all for what you do!!

This isn t as much as a review on the hospital in as much as the insurance companies. Actually the care and the doctors did a fantastic job and I give them 5 stars! But my wife works as an ER Tech for Jefferson. She got hurt at work and had major spine surgery. The insurance companies didn t want to pay to keep her in the hospital so she could get the level of care needed. This is Jefferson taking care of one of their own and she should be able to stay as long as she wants! No, instead she screams all night in pain and can barely take baby steps to use the bathroom!
You people who want socialism and social healthcare need to WAKE-UP!! If the insurance company doesn t want you to stay and get proper care, what makes you think the government would?

Be prepared to fight to get the attention and professional service you deserve. Everything about TJUH is a fight and a struggle. One of the most UNCOOPERATIVE places I've been to for healthcare. Even though you are the one paying the bill for imaging studies (MRI, CT Scan, Ultrasound, etc.), they treat you with suspect when trying to get the imaging report that YOU'VE ALREADY PAID FOR. Roadblock after roadblock, and for no apparent good reason. They like to try to throw you a curve with their constant misuse of HIPPA as an excuse for everything. And if they lose the authorization form that you gave them to release the information, they act like it's YOUR problem all of a sudden and YOU have to fix THEIR mistake. Incredible! I ended up calling for a top administrator to come down from his 'loft' and fix this. When I presented him with PROOF that I had submitted previously requested forms, he just didn't know what to say. Again, stand your ground with these clowns!

Went for emergency visit, staff not too welcoming especially if its close to them leaving there shift, I notice a lot of chattering between staff when each room is filled with patients at least 5 sets of staff members ten total were having personal concersation regarding traveling, food, other co workers and patients stats ...pretty loud conversation all in various areas of the building. The nurses open there equipment and just throw it on the floor (pictures added) I picked up one section myself. They do not listen to patients needs and concerns they are like robots just following protocal but each patient is different and knows there body and needs. The doctors just walk around in there white coats like there GOD with no concern for patients needs. On the positive side the intake workers that take your insurance information was really concerened about the welfare of me.

I can not say enough about jefferson - I came up from FL for a brain tumor and a heart problem was discovered. Brain tumor skull based team put me at ease that I did not need the procedure recommended in FL (the doctor owned the machine in FL!) - the heart team were accomodating and even allowed my small dog in the rooms as comfort ...true total patient care and compassion and I adore Dr. Roz Kaplan at Women's health!!

I second Nicole Smith Daniels review here. I came in for a physical and saw a Dr. Robert Perkel for 5 minutes. Now, I'm a lucky person because I have insurance, and my insurance covers physicals. So during my physical I told Dr. Perkel that my shoulder has been bothering me for a year and I also want to get a STD check up, you know, because I'm a responsible adult. He charged me over $230 for a diagnosis of a sore shoulder and get this....A MENTAL HEALTH DIAGNOSIS...for wanting STD tests done!! These people are crooks, avoid if possible.

Was at this hospital today, and everyone, from the front desk to the last person I spoke with at 3:30 pm. was more than helpful and very nice. I can't say enough how much I appreciate those people today. The woman in surgical recovery ( older African American woman) really should be recognized for her work. She definitely goes above and beyond her call of duty, not only to us, but to everyone she comes in contact with. We could definitely tell she "LOVES" her job. Again, Thanks to Everyone at Jefferson Hospital!!!

A friend of mine has been in the ICU for over a week at Jefferson on 11th and Walnut. He s intubated and comatose, and the staff over the phone doesn t have him in their computer system. Worst emergency room ever, do not come here if you have acute appendicitis they will let you reel in pain for five plus hours before they even get a doctor to look at you. And this is a patient who is insured and is a professional. The staff is unprofessional and is more interested in their breaks and their computer then helping patients. Dr. Rittenhouse is extremely unprofessional at followups, calls from a non-working/private number when he calls back a patient (the phone number didn't work correctly when calling back), avoids conversations - even when asking for a callback in 30 minutes, and approximately 40%-50% of the staff focuses on arguing more than helping. A couple of staff members hung up, as if they were immature children - instead of employees that work in the medical field, and one representative even laughed when discussing problems with health concerns. David Green is a manager that speaks in a condescending tone, focuses on complaining about a patient's input - instead of helping, and doesn't seem to know how to train his staff. When mentioning that Jefferson Hospital doesn't seem to be a great/reliable network of hospitals anymore, he stated that he's "never heard that before." If he focused on helping, instead of looking at it as a "business," maybe he'd know how patients truly feel. When explaining what one needs, in helping with one's health concerns - he calls it a "business" and seems like he just want to "move on to the next one."

My husband just had surgery at Thomas Jefferson Ho...

My husband just had surgery at Thomas Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia. I felt that I had to give a review of my 2 day experience being at the hospital to support my husband. There are so many adjectives that would describe our experience. Everyone I encountered was helpful, friendly, caring, and knowledgeable. You can t get lost because there is always an employee right there to help you find your way and in a couple of cases, walked me to where I needed to be. I was not a bother to them. They smiled and cared about what I needed. This began at the reception desk in the lobby and continued to the intake area and then to where they get you ready to go down to the surgical area. The waiting area was comfortable and again the attendants were helpful and friendly. Even the food was good and reasonably priced in the cafeteria. The nurses are amazing. I felt like my husband was the only patient because they were so attentive. They were always right there to help you, answer questions, and really care for my husband. So, I just want to repeat, everyone we encountered at this hospital went out of their way to make us as comfortable as we could be. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Ed and Jan Anderson.

I'm stuck with jury duty and need to reschedule a doctor's appointment. Should be simple, right?

Long story short, the number to make or change appointments for my doctor's office isn't working properly. The call drops after a few minutes on hold no matter how often I try. I call Jefferson's main number. No one listens to a word I say. They just insist I tell them the department I'm trying to reach and they immediately transfer me over to the line that I'm calling about. The line that I just told them doesn't work. This happens several times. I was even hung up on a couple of times.

These calls are supposedly recorded. Is no one monitoring them? I wasn't rude or speaking in an incomprehensible language. Talking to a fully automated system would have been less frustrating than this.

I love the doctors I have at Jefferson, but I need to be able to reach their office staff. This just makes me want to switch over to a different hospital system. Ugh.

How do you charge over $20 for the parking garage!?!? Obviously there's no street parking being located in the city, the only option is to use the garage for $26 over 2 hours. Luckily I'm early in my decision progress of which health system to choose. Charging a ridiculous amount everytime treatment is needed is not making me want to continue with your health system.
