For a hospital that is said to be the top in the nation, the ER was an absolute horror. Security makes you feel like you re a criminal for coming in; with their rude responses and cold demeanor. I did complain of heart issues to the registrar who did get a tech promptly to do an EKG, but of course my skipped beats stopped during the EKG. The waiting areas are littered with people dipping out, screaming on cell phones and slumped over in wheelchairs lined in the hallways. Once seen by the physician (who ran through a fast script I heard him give to two other rooms before me) he reminded me that they re very busy and it would be a bit to further tests. They tried to make me sit back in the waiting area (which is literally 15 bench chairs, obviously full). So I stood there for a second, and security literally was just like If you want to leave the exit is here . I said I d be leaving with no one knowing or signing AMA he responded so? . The registrar asked my name and says he ll sign me out. So I left. I will never go to that hospital. I m instructing everyone close to me to please have me sent to any other facility in case of emergency. This was utter madness. (I have previous experience working for hospitals and medical facilities. I know what expectations are realistic, Jefferson met none of them.)
