Like any government organization - there are always SOME good caring compassionate people - but the administration is rotten to the core. The level of incompetence is horrible to say the least. Years ago I freely choose to spend my OWN money for private sector medical care. Non VA medical care is not like it was when I was a young man and never will be - but at least I have a choice . The thought of having to stay at this place again and place my LIFE in THEIR hands is frightening.
Posting under a pseudonym. This will be VA hospital/annex#6 that I have enrolled in just this week. The orientation is very professional, but I had to ask questions that I already knew to make sure that other vets in the class understood about the VA Hosp system. There were several Tricare for Lifers enrolling solely for the free meds. So far, so good. Hopefully I will receive a better quality care that I so desperately need here.
Went to the plastic surgeon Dr. Carter had nose cancer so we had to redo my nose and takeoff the cancer he did such a terrible botched up job Very very disappointed I mean is the man blind can t he see my nose is a mess very very disappointed
In the five years I've been gone they have not had one issue
I have been a patient for many years when I had my kidney surgery in 2007 Dr Mary Hall did an excellent job I was told that I would be there for at least 2 weeks I was there for only 6 days the care was excellent thanks Tampa VA
I was an ER patient in August, 2019. The staff treated me like family. The DR was exceptional. I would return to this facility without hesitation.
Horrible place. Staff is very rude to veterans. Very dismissive and act irritated if you ask a question. Civilians roll their eyes, snicker, and talk about disabled veterans missing legs, arms, and paralyzed. Appointments are made randomly without notifying veterans. When veterans miss appointments, because they did not know, they are blamed and denied care. Veterans' medical problems are discussed in the waiting area, loudly, and actually laughed about. So rude, nasty, and downright mean to veterans. I hate going; when I do go I leave feeling miserable.
Got an issue? Prepare to wait on the phone for 44 minutes like I just did, and be sure to schedule your appointment asap, can't wait to be seen next March. That's right, the earliest appointment my PCM can see me is 4 months from now. You have 1 year to add to your claim after you get out, should be easy if you get to see your doctor the one time right?
We arrived at 230pm to be seen by a doctor, it is now 9:30pm. And still waiting
God have mercy on you if you have to visit the ER. The wait times here are completely inhumane.
After 5 hours of sitting and suffering I left for another hospital. Paying out of pocket is better than going through this hell.
Horrible place. I got here with my husband really delicate on his health at 6:20 pm... Is 10:31 and no one has call us
I got flu & pneumonia and my Doctor was too busy to see me.
I was gasping for air and tried to get my Doctor as she told me to get in touch with her right away if my medication made me short of breath. She didn't. I've heard from no one. Now what do I do ?
We have been coming here since just after the 1st Gulf War (1991). Years ago this place was horrible but in the last few years there have been some very good changes under the interim and current directors. They take very good care of my wife now, me on the other hand, not so much. All veterans served but not all veterans are treated with the same care, even if the veteran actually pays $ for the service.
They referred me to an outside provider for a service connected disability / injury because the surgery required to fix the injury was outside of the VA System Scope of Work. They referred, authorized, and then refused to pay, so I had to spend my own money, and make travel arrangements to the NE of the USA to see and have the surgery. My abdominal muscles were detached from my pelvis and rolled up inside my torso, and they wanted me to wait for them to maybe figure it out, unreal! I then filed reimbursement, denied. Spoke directly with the director and chief of staff who both admitted this was their fault and told staff to reimburse me, denied again. Now I have to take them to court, and even though the chief of staff and director said they would willingly back me up in deposition they refused to sign an affidavit, and n the course of their usps mail correspondence provided me the evidence that they lied to me. Going to take this to court. Do away with the VA all-together, get rid of these do-nothing VA personnel, and give vets tri-care.
They are very good here they saved my dad's life and he is now in therapy for next 2 months.
I have nothing bad to say about this place!! Great personal
Abusive staff at the Dentist department. Not the dentist but the assistant
I don't understand how this location is not under Government review for the lack of care offered when needed the most - by veterans. If you go for an appointment you'll see empty halls, employees doing much of nothing but, roaming those halls or on their cell phones. I went in for a simple test and the person sticking me in the arm stuck me so many times my arm turned purple and a supervisor had to tell her to stop. The primaries don't seem to want to answer emails and if they do they don't want to see you in person, they want to play Doctor through telephone calls. I wanted a Covid test weeks ago and was told they weren't testing veterans (just employees), so the people most at risk could not be tested. They are very interested in constantly getting you to do surveys as to how good they're doing. Sorry, but the overall answer is NOT too good. The only ones who seem to care are the pharmacists. They get your meds out quickly and will spend time asking you questions - in fact, more questions than the primary will ask you. Covid 19 did not shut down James Haley, James Haley distanced itself from the vet community to the point of doing the LEAST they could get away with in the way of offering care that vets desperately need. People (employees) we are Veterans! We earned this care! How many covid patients are in James Haley right now? How many us vets have you tested? Give us some numbers to justify keeping your doors shut but, the lights on and people paid for doing nothing (ZERO). The lack of care is killing some of us and when you wonder why 20 vets per day kill themselves one doesn't have to look any further than the despair caused by an illness. Just how close to death must a vet come to to be cared for (and I mean cared for) in person - not through a telephone call or through a customer service email. Don't answer this review with the usual come into the ER if it's an emergency, as this has to do with getting back to business, scheduling appointments, opening your doors and treating the vets who need treatment. The ER is for emergencies and were told don't go to the ER if it's not an emergency. It's about care that's needed to keep one from having an emergency. Is it no wonder who this hospital is named after? It is a Ringling Brothers three ring circus on many levels.
This hospital is outstanding in my opinion .the doctors and staff care about the vets abd this I know because. My husband is one of them.
Exceptional care from dedicated workers that are eager to assist you and care about your well-being.
I will do my best to make this as short as possible, this place has waisted enough of my time.
I took my father to this joke of an emergency room today (36 miles away ) because it is the only hospital that is approved by his insurance company (tricare ). We arrived at their so call emergency room at 13:45 and checked him in. We told them that my father was sent to them by his primary care physician who believed that he may have a blood clot ln his leg. They replied "have a seat ". At 14:50 they took him back to a room.
Once in the room my father once again explained why he was there. The nurse said "ok we are going to need to take some blood" so they started an IV. At at 17:05 the blood work came back and apparently they somehow messed up the blood so they needed another draw. Those results did not return until 18:15.
Then they informed my father that he may possibly have a blood clot in his leg and needed a ultrasound done on his leg and the ultrasound tech goes home at 17:00 so he will have to return tomorrow after the ultrasound tech calls him.( You know the tech that went home 4 hrs after we got there). So they discharged him at 18:30.
At 19:13 they still had not removed his IV so that he could leave so my father pressed the call light to ask when they where going to remove the IV. After the call light had been flashing and beeping for more than 5min a nurse finally came it and said that the Dr had walked past him 20 times and never told him to let him go home.
We just got home at 22:30 and have to return to this dump tomorrow.
WAY TO TREAT THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO FOUGHT FOR OUR FREEDOM
Had a recent bad experience with the T-62 Pre-Op parking "HAWK" when it was necessary to park for a short time at their parking area. My spouse who has very limited mobility was accosted by an very unfriendly and caustic female attendant patrolling the area, who called the VA Police. They responded and talked to my wife after I had to depart for same day surgery. The VA Police Officer was very courteous and helpful to my wife. THANK YOU. However, the unprofessional and intimidating nature of the Pre-Op parking attendant just about ruined our time at VA and this is uncharacteristic of the great care we have received at the VA. It is VA employees like this that give VA a bad name. VA Need to remind this employee to not be so in your face and less confrontational , and more helpful.
Post comment: Thank you so much for the quick follow-up.
I wanted to commend Dr.Franasco Torano at the James Haley VA Emergency Room. I visited the ER with shortness of breath and Dr. Torano diagnosis-ed pulmonary embolism in both lungs. Having no previous health issues, this doctor took the time to ensure I received the best care available. He even stayed past his shift to make sure I was transferred to Tampa General Hospital to receive care from a special team at TGH to save my life. I have always received terrific care from the main hospital medical staff, as well as my primary care doctor at the annex, Dr. Lindsey Joseph. These professionals have always displayed a caring, informative professionalism that is actually far better than what I ever received from non VA doctors.
Seizure disorder and experiencing one at the ER.. Security decided i was creating a problem so slammed me to the ground and handcuffed me while convulsing. They were told i was seizing and "he is lying" They Tie me to a table and leave me alone in a room for 15 min .. Doc never looked at medical record.. "i will come back when he calms down" and walked out again....
My records show i have seizures, they show the lighting in the er is a trigger and the officers tie me face up into the lights and doctors listen to security and ignore me..
. You should see the pictures of my face where it was attempted to hold me down while convulsing - The Worst Thing To Do On Both Issues - - he used his knee to the back of my neck and damaged my neck and shoulder while Attempting to restrain and handcuff a person convulsing... You Cant hold me still any better than i can do it...
Stay AWAY ... they are great until you need real help like dealing with problems.. Then the only answer you get is the same - over and over "wasnt us, we didnt do it, cant help you, no records, no notes, your fault, you faked it, We Believe the officer report made the next day, not the witnesses or security video we have and take and discussed with you - so no record,
They took the time to go into my medical record - find the appointment i was attending the following day and come write me a ticket then to "protect themselves" by making me wrong ..
THEY ARE NOT MEDICAL STAFF AND ENTERED OR ACCESSED MY MEDICAL RECORDS !!!!! THEY ARE SECURITY, NOT MEDICAL - NO LEGAL ACCESS AND THE NEXT DAY WRITE ME A TICKET ? love to see a cop show at your door with a speeding ticket for the day before and intimidate you into signing it...
They listen. No problem changing appointments. Excellent pharmacy. Very through. Great, I don't know why so many complaints .
We need to have better healthcare for our veterans. This place is run down, half of the staff is indifferent, the other half are just rude and uncaring. Trying to get answers for my mother's surgery got the run around for 5 hrs. Something needs to be done about this.
I wouldn t go here if you are actually sick or there is something wrong with you. They are quick to turn you away and leave you untreated.
In emergency room for over 4.5 hours with stomach pains between pain level 8 / 10.
Still waiting to be seen.
Better off calling 911 and be taken to hospital.
Urgent care is a joke at this VA.
Urology-Oncology are an amazingly qualified team. 11 days post-op and everyone from janitors and orderlies to nurses extremely nice, efficient, professional. If Orlando VA were compared to these folks, Orlando would not make the grade.
Prefer this VA over any civilian facility. If something isn't right they fix it! Thankful for their respect and courtesy to Vets.
Yeah your correct our VA isn't perfect but what and where is,? ? I'll tell you this I am here for the long haul I am not moving and even though I can go anywhere I want for treatment because I have Tricare for life I chose my VA. And twice they have saved my life when I was found and ambulanced to the ER and rushed into surgery, Major Surgery. I know our VA has problems, the phone system is broke and everyone at the VA knows it but at least after talking with the assistant director I know they are on this problem and I believe they will have it fixed in short order. Brother and Sister Veterans we can wimper, wine and snivel or we can get involved and help fix the problems we identify. I hope you will be part of the solutions at our VA I for one have no problem using the chain of command at our VA and I know that we have a great leader at the top of our VA and you can see and feel he cares when you talk to him or any of his subordinate leaders. We must decide if we are going to be part of the problem or part of the solutions. Let's all help and we can have a great, super great VA. Hoorah.
I went to the VA Emergency Room for a serious spider bite that caused a major infection. After about 4 hours of still waiting, I asked what the delay was and was told that patients with chest pains and issues were taken first. I'm cool with that except at the time, there wasn't any patients with chest issues...I know because most of the Vets in the ER always strike up a conversation about our tours of duty.
I finally get taken to the back area where I waited for another 2 hours before I literally went to the charge nurse and unit secretary and pleaded my case and told them I couldn't believe that it would take so long just to have someone just to take a look at the spider bite. As I continued to question them, a VA Police Officer was summoned over for whatever reason...although I gotta say he was pretty cool. All in All, I did not receive any medical attention and ended up going to another hospital in which I was seen and treated almost immediately. They absolutely loved Veterans!
Overall the VA has been OK lately but their ER totally sucks! I had my family with me at the time of my visit to the ER so they now know this as well.
I called in to return to call about scheduling a dental appointment and was on hold and then I guess at 3:30 they decided just to cut the phone lines off because it was after hours. What a waste of time
Traffic will not stop for people in the crosswalk trying to cross Bruce B Downs from parking area. There needs to be flashing red light. Night time nurse was friendly and informative about father's condition. Day time, not so much.
The worst hospital I have ever had the misfortune of being admitted to. National health care has to replace these kind of places. The help confuses the words patient and prisoner. Stay away if at all possible. Your life may depend on it.
The Polytrauma Unit is excellent and the Fisher House is a God send. We could not be happier with the care my brother-in-law is receiving and the generosity and support we are getting through the Fisher House.
Had to go ER. Received great fast service....check-in nurse excellent...then met my RN Stephanie..answered ALL my health questions..professional courteous..ER Dr awesome..wearing warriors shirt..my favorite nba TEAM..process me quickly Dr service excellent
I am here in the ER, been here 3 hours. Other Vets have been here for 5 or more hours, and the only service that we've received are our vitals. The last person they called back was over 2 hours ago!. One Vet who has been here over 5 hours, just got called back in to update his vitals, when he returned, he noticed that members of the staff were on Facebook! It's Embarrassing. THIS IS NOT AN ER, IT'S A BOAT SITTING IN A DRY DOCK! We as Veterans of this nation deserve and demand better service!
This is the worst ER I have ever been in. The ER staff is slow has no sense or urgency, lacks compassion and competence. My first visit was in January of 2016. After two hours I was finally able to see a doctor. I had previously had an ankle replacement about four years earlier. I had a blister on the foot where I had the artificial ankle. I was told by the ER doctor that I did not want any kind of infection in that leg. He wrote me a prescription that I could take to my pharmacy near my home. After leaving the prescription with pharmacy I went home waiting for it to be filled. As soon as we got home our phone rang from our pharmacy. The pharmacist said he couldn't fill the prescription because it was a penicillin derivative. I have an allergy to penicillin. He further stated that he couldn't get in touch with the ER doctor to get the prescription changed. After some phone calls on my part we were able to get the issue resolved. The ER doctor said I never told him I had an allergy to penicillin, which I did. Not only did I tell the ER doctor, it was also in my VA medical records.
My second encounter with the ER was in April of 2016. There were three people in the ER. After an hour and a half I still had not seen a doctor. I left the ER and went to the Florida Hospital ER where I was immediately seen. I was consequently admitted to the hospital.
My Dad was bitten by something, possibly a spider of some kind or tick infected with Lyme disease. Anyway, he has a small hole in the back of his leg surrounded by dead flesh, His entire leg is so swollen, weak and painful that his blood pressure is 192 / 107. He cant walk and no longer has control of his bladder, he believes that is a result of the pain he is in. My brother took him to the emergency room there at the VA, the Doctor ( I wish I knew his name ) and I am using this term very loosely gave my Dad a shot for blood pressure and sent him back home. He did request for a Lyme disease test, but the Dr. said it would most likely be kicked back because the tests are very expensive. The Dr. said when that happens there is nothing else he can do. I am also a veteran, and I stopped going to the VA because of BS like this. The specialists don't want to do anything for anybody. I ended up getting my Back Surgery done at Largo Medical Center, those people are a god send compared to the VA. The VA specialists act like your a nobody, treat you like a nobody who's just trying to get something for free. I don't see how these people can live with themselves. I'm trying to talk my Dad into forgetting about the VA and go to a real emergency room. I am also going to contact some of our local Politicians, they're always coming to my job and taking tours anyway so that will be easy enough.
The Doctors and nursing staff were very professional.
They have assisted me with all my problema, back, hearing, dental, weight gain. All my doctor's have been outstanding.
Don't go to the VA if you're in pain!!! The tampa va has the worst pain management doctors of any place I've ever been. They are more concerned with how they look than properly caring for pain patients. I was lied to many times by these so called pain doctors and once with both my wife and daughter present! Another doctor called dr. Drake back regarding an appt. she said I had missed and she lied to him too saying she was looking in the wrong patient record! Other doctors belittled me saying everyone gets pain from old age! All to make themselves look good by getting patients off pain meds whether it was warranted or not! I've been a pain sufferer since I spent 3 months in a military hospital in traction in 1990! I have spinal damage in my neck and low back, and there super spinal surgeon said pain wasn't a reason to do spinal surgery and said to go back to my pain doctor! They wanted to take me off my pain medications without any plan of care at all, just to make themselves look good! If any of them are trained in pain management, I'd be dumbfounded, because looking good on paper is what they are about. Look we got 100% of our pain patients off pain medicines. The fact that some are in jail seeking help from the wrong sources, or that some commited suicide isn't their concern, as long as they can boast about their success at separating their patients from the pain medicines that they needed! That's the tampa VA's philosophy concerning pain patients! Luckily, there are real doctors in the military and local community that are real pain doctors that care about their pain patients well being or I'd have died 8 years ago!
Very good service. Excellent doctors! Pleasant staff, clean surroundings although older building. Very busy hospital, they do a great job! Especially considering the high volume of people they see. We have been to a couple of VA Hospitals for different services and procedures and been pleased with the quality of care & service.
Was trying to be seen for hip injuries to return to active duty & the doctor could give a damn. Better to make the drive to Orlando.
Neurolumen pain management device is now available at the Tampa, VA. This hospital is open to me techniques to help the Veterans in their care. It is so refreshing since we travel all over the country and this is not the norm.
Even with the construction happening, the personnel at the James A. Haley Veteran's Medical Center always have a smile on their face, are eager to assist anyome who needs it, and are ready to answer any questions (or find out the answer[s]) one may have.
The James a Haley va hosp has always treated me with the utmost respect always looked after my health and every Dr I have is the best II do not have one bad thing to say I can't express how much respect I have for my doctors and anyone that has about the VA they have their reason I guess but I am blessed for every doctor I have they are overly concerned and deserve the respect my name is Joseph A. D 'Andrea Thank you Drs for your service.
This is a great hospital, but the wait time is horrible if you go through the er. I sat for over 4 1/2 hours waiting to be seen. Currently still waiting... will finish review when I leave.
Unlike other VA hospitals in California, the Florida VA hospitals do not provide showers for outpatient or homeless veterans. They do not supply. Food like California VA hospitals , Noir safe parking for RVs or Travelers such as myself. They're overwhelmed with veterans seeking proper Medical Care and they do their best with what they have, they do have some excellent doctors at James a Haley that are veterans there is just too many different departments and under construction. I do not believe in valet parking unless the people parking the vehicles are veterans. The VA doesn't recognize any animals other than service dogs. Unlike California where they realize that other animals are Esa pets. Even trained service dogs get worn out and he's big Florida hospitals with the heat and humidity. The people are from all walks of life in from all different countries they shouldn't be judgemental. The use of phone calls to facilitate their patients is an old antiquated form of communication in my opinion. Honorably discharged veterans should not have to beg food pantries or churches in my opinion as churches are struggling enough. If they need Dental in any honorably discharged veteran should be provided with dental no matter if he's rated or not! Please be patient. They're often taken Inn by dishonest contractors and sub-contractors wasting valuable funds.
They have the most compassionate people here it's not like other hospitals where you go in there and the first thing they want to know is what type of insurance you have and based upon that is what type of test you going to have and no run up that service to the max they done that to me a couple of times and Medicare and I reported them. But James a Haley VA Hospital they care about the individual they don't care about the money they have a love relationship with their patients you don't have that in that the hospital's you hardly ever see the nurses and when you call for them they hardly ever come but not at James a Haley you hit that button before it rings 5 times somebody usually answers the line yes sometimes it does take up to 10 when they're busy and a lot of patients are needing Care at the same time. And when you come to the VA James a Haley Hospital no matter what's wrong with you they fix everything ever hospitals they only fix what you reported in the ER was wrong with you and that is just plain stupid. Could you imagine if auto mechanics was like that know you just came in with a flat tire we can't change that leaky radiator you got to come back tomorrow and do that just so that they get another ER charge. That's why I love this hospital so much they take care of the whole person not just a piece of them what they can make money on.
They have great doctors who really care and it is easy to get appointments with the docs once u have been seen there. If u r a vet and have your card but have not been seen by a doc there yet I suggest u start at the urgent Care clinic in the er. This gets u in the system. If u have an issue they can't take care of there they will set the appointments for u to other clinics.
Pharmacy expects sick people to run around the hospital looking for a black phone to activate the medications your doctor just entered into the system. If the patient is sick and dizzy, the nurse should call in the RX for that patient. After the patient calls in to activate the medication, you have to wait another 30 minutes. Why call ahead, if you still have to wait when you get to the pharmacy?
If I could rate this place zero stars I would. Everyone is rude in the emergency room. They lack compassion for any of the people they see. They leave people waiting and have no concern for any one, not even a friendly face. The sign on the wall says they will see people based on severity of injury or illness and they do not. In fact, they told me I was sitting in a room "full of people with the same symptoms as my father." Well if they are all suffering from severe pain then why aren't accommodations made to help them while they wait hours in hard plastic chairs. If my dad did not need care I would never step foot in the place. Don't expect nice and friendly people, expect people waiting to get off work to rush out the door. I have never made a review for anything but I just wanted to warn people of what to expect in the case of an emergency. I would recommend going anywhere else even if you don't have insurance because they don't care about emergency situations. I've always heard horror stories of this place but this is unbelievable. I could go on and on.
Their customer service lines are terrible. They are extremely rude and difficult to schedule. I work for a doctors office and trying to get a patient scheduled with them is a joke. All they do is transfer you around to different departments and are very uneager to do their job or help you.
I visited this hospital today. All the personnel was very respectful and helpful, in special a nurse called Doris. The hospital is very big but all the employees help you to find the differents areas. Thank you to all the employees for your good services to veterans.!!!
Better than last VA I attended. Parking is dreadful but care raises my review to 4 stars
Under construction can't wait till they finish, the new spinal cord wing is great
1 year and still don't know if I have cancer
and to Edward Friedhoff, Mario always laughs at everything
I had my gallbladder removed here. I unfortunately had a initial complication but the staff were very helpful for the additional week which I stayed at the hospital.
I have always had horrible luck with the VA. This week has just been another amazing example. I had to re enroll yet again, then I get a call asking to sent up an appointment. No information is left except for the call phone number ending in 8000. I call the number and wait for 35 mins just to be hung up on! I call back, get through to a person, start giving them my info, they interrupt me mid-sentence and tell me to please hold.... I then get hung up on for the 2nd time. I wait about an hour and call back, get through and go through the validation process. The woman then tells me she has no idea who called me or why but can see that I was called.... then says "hopefully they call back".... And people wonder why Veterans hate the VA.....
Got called because they canceled my appointment. Called back in within the minute no answer I get transferred to someone else and they say dermatology left for the day. How is it possible. For us to receive care if I receive a phone call that my appointment it canceled and to call back to reschedule. My literal hair is falling out due to stress and this is making it worse. I d like to receive a phone call immediately from the dermatology clinic #5801
For sure, the VA is not perfect. I have had several bad experiences but it is pretty evenly distributed. If you are so unhappy, that is why we have congressmen. Fortunately, when I left AD, I had SSD and Tricare for life. I use almost no VA services unless seeing a VA doctor once a year to keep my record current.
My husband s nurse, Emily, was excellent today! She was very calming and reassuring, along with everyone else we encountered at the Parking Garage staged ER. Those are less than ideal working conditions, but the staff were still friendly and efficient.
Had surgery today. The staff was fantastic. Wonderful to be taken care of by a Caring, Friendly Dedicated group of Medical Professionals.
My doctor's nurse hardly speaks English, last time she left a voicemail I spent 30 minutes trying to decipher it, then 30 calls over the next four days trying to get through the automated system before I finally reached a human being that could explain what the voicemail was about. The call back feature is useless, I've tried it at least 10 times over the past year and hardly ever get a call back. There's also a lady in the laboratory that obviously hates her job and needs to find peace doing something else. I'm used to military medical care being relatively rude to patients but geezus at least try a little bit lab lady. There might be people in there that genuinely care but my experience has been pretty darn terrible.
By far the best veterans hospital I ve had the pleasure of registering with. Helpful, friendly staff and really nice to see volunteers helping around this hospital. Looking forward to seeing my new PCP here.
Some times a long waiting process always very friendly Drs and staff have 24 hour emergency room but most the rest of the hospital is closed up by 5:00pm every one starts getting in about 0600
Facility layout is a TOTAL DISASTER! Seriously whoever designed, and is continuing to design the facility layout should be FIRED!!! Politicians if you ever visit this place visit incognito and take a look at how incredibly inconvenient this facility is!!!
The front asphalt parking MUST be turned into a huge parking garage directly connected to the hospital. On a good day parking 1,000 yards away from the entrance in the "new garage" and riding a golf cart is rediculous, but remember it rains all the time in Tampa!!! Duh!!!
Staff get turned around all the time in the maze inside and the hallways are too narrow, the bathrooms are usually having lines coming out of them and the valet parking takes on average 30 minutes just to get your car parked.
Is anyone actually proud of this facility?
I can not praise the VA enough, every doctor that I have seen is absolutely excellent. From my primary care doctor , Dr Ibrahim , or Dr. Katherine Hall in ENT, or Dr. Baldwin in Dermatology they, and their staff, are all very professional , caring and intently concerned about their patients well being. Thanks you VA for staffing such incredibly confident and highly skilled physicians and nurses.
Other than it's kind of a maze getting through the hospital, I've never had any problems with this facility. If I get lost or need to find a particular unit, anyone I ask has always been very helpful by either walking me to where I needed to go or given me excellent directions. Never an extremely long wait for anything. I'm very thankful for this hospital and other VA hospitals I've been to. You have to practice patience just as you would with a civilian hospital. Granted, I don't have any debilitating injuries or issues to deal with but my care is just as important as those who do so I don't take it lightly.
Keep up the good work!
My go to place.
Great Dr.s, staff, as well as top quality care, treament, and service. I have had 9 surgeries at JAH VAH, all with Excellent results.
Great facility! I am very thankful for all of the excellent care I have been receiving. VA healthcare is far better than anything I ever received in the civilian community.
I was hospitalized here. No diagnosis made. Differential diagnosis ignored and not followed up on after 8 months of follow up care and appointments. Pathetic. At home still extremely I'll with no management of care or diagnosis. Do not go here if you are extremely ill.
Love everything about this facility and the VA are system here in Tampa. So happy I moved here as all the resources are available. The staff is caring, patient, and very knowledgeable. Thank you!
