If you visit San Francisco, walking across the Golden Gate bridge and seeing the amazing views for yourself is a must do experience! It's an amazing, globally recognized landmark!
Definitely worth a visit if these historic sites interest you. Its truely a amazing site with a visitor center and everything. You need to dress warm and account for the wind though.
Very beautiful and windy. Come down with some time in hand and take some of the small walks available.
Absolutely a must visit for everyone. Bucket list or whatever. The views are magnificent. And the experience is very core to San Francisco's image.
Go to the parks at each end of the bridge at least if you don't have much time. The views from.these two spots tickle your eyes plenty. Prepare for picture taking. There is a reason the Golden Gate is one of the most photographed bridges in the world.
If you have a little more time. Check the Presidio on the south end of the bridge. It's an old military base from waaaaay back. Pre world wars. The north side of the bridge is also epic with epic views. More retired military base. Climb around an old gun battery. Hike the edge of the continent and look out over the endless blue of the Pacific. Totally breathtaking. I can sit up at Battery Mendel for days lost in the view.
don't forget a jacket!! It gets cold even on a sunny day. Cold and windy!
Be respectful and clean up after yourself!
Have fun and enjoy
It's an awesome bridge but it is unfortunately full of cyclists in the form of tourists who can't ride and entitled wannabee pros trying to race around small children. If you are planning to visit, park your bike in a rack. The nearby fort is also worth walking up to.
Impressive engineering marvel. If you visit San Francisco you must visit this bridge in person.
There is a viewing area on the north end of the bridge that has beautiful views of the bridge and the city.
Beautiful bridge. Can be crowded at times, or blocked for events like the Presidio 10. A great place to run and or walk. Cycling may be difficult considering how many people are walking or running. And the blind turns around the towers require caution and slow speeds.
This big bridge is the pride of San Francisco. It's super iconic and rightfully so. Because if this, expect for it to live up to your expectations and also plan accordingly. Traffic will be heavy during rush hour and expect to see many tourists. The bridge is really quite the marvel to look at so be sure to spend some time on it. Also be careful if you decide to bike across it as you might end up walking your bike for must the time because of all the people who are walking on it. That being said, this is a must visit for San Francisco!
Must visit if you're in SF. Go through the boards that explain the engineering and history behind the bridge. Great view. Walking on the bridge is almost therapeutic.
Beautiful brigde. There is a fort at Oakland end, that's very good position to take photo and historic place to visit. Also cold and windy
Beautiful and iconic structure. Take your time to walk it by foot. It is a little noisy due to cars passing but you will get a lot of joy, not mentioning bragging rights.
Awesome view. Do remember to carry a jacket at this windy place.
This was an awesome bridge to see and totally worth the trip however don t cross the bridge if you don t have to because on the drive back they have a toll and the only way for you to pay the toll is to have the California toll sticker or they ll mail it to you and they ll tack on a huge fee
Views of the city are the best.. And photography of the bridge proves no bad angle.. in any weather!
The best view truly awesome you cannot visit SanFran without passing by and walking across the bridge
If it's not breathtaking enough as a sheer spectacle of modern architecture, they have a wonderful souvenir shop. Definitely a visit for the bucket list!
Overwhelmingly magnificent. Imagine how many parts, large and small had to come together. Imagine how many tasks ,large and small, had to be completed correctly. All in the 1930's. Mind boggling.!
One of the most amazing places to visit in SF. If you get a chance walk on the bridge. The view from the bridge is breathtaking. Parking is hard to find.
Amazing place! Love the security and the beauty of the bridge... stunning
Not exactly how you "share" a bridge. The Golden Gate is always a new experience... depending on weather. From totally obscured to take your breath away beautiful. That's about it!
Beautiful and busy bridge, you can walk around on the side walk of the bridge too. Lots of viewing points around the bridge further uphills/mountain. Be sure to pay toll via phone/online if you have a rental car
It's the Golden Gate Bridge. Nothing else needs to be said, except that spending some time pondering its beauty should be the #1 item on anyone's to-do list of things to be done while visiting the city. For best results, come at sunset.
Love the toll booth! I don't why people are complaining, its it's free to walk. :-P
Breath taking, my first time over the bridge and wow nothing I had seen to date on TV or in pictures does it justice. Today was a ride over next time I'm going to walk.
Great piece of architecture and the visual sign showing the years of construction just behind the welcome center is so neat!
Amazing view, the bridge doesn't need introduction but is definitely breathtaking
Have been taking people who come for SF for first time, but am never bored of being here. It's amazing to see, walk around enjoy the cool wind. I would normally suggest people to go between 10am and 3pm to avoid fog and see beautiful views of the city, bay, islands near by, the surfers etc
Super cool! I walked all the way across and back again! Windy and chilly so take a jacket but the views can't be beat!
Gorgeous views! It's a bit crowded of a walk, and I'm not sure I would ever try biking it, but there's gorgeous views for as far as you can see. I would definitely recommend it, especially since it's free!
The view is magnificent and the walk to the bridge is worth the while. Just check the weather before going as there might be a lot of mist
Must see if visiting San Francisco. I recommend biking over the bridge to Sausalito.
I tried to jump but couldn't, JK! Pretty nice view from the bridge it's really windy though so beware
Went on a spur of the moment trip to San Fransico. Had a great time with the family. We didn't do the bus tours or anything, just Googled where to park and we were on our way!
We had a handicap placard and parking in the lot next to the Visitor's Center.
There was a great view of the city and Alcatraz.
Stunning. Amazing photo opportunities. Mysterious. History. My favorite destination in San Francisco
Again I am so glad gave me my hearts desire to travel here. The beauty is far beyond any photo I have ever seen. Thank you Lord for the beauty you create and the love you give us, in Christ Jesus's name Amen and Amen
Giant bridge known for its wired structure and size. Beautiful location with excellent view points. Worth a visit atleast once if you are visiting San Francisco.
Stop at either end and enjoy the views. Walk the entire bridge or half way. The best way to get to San Francisco from the North Bay Area.
Rented bikes from the pier in San Fran, and biked over to Sausalito. It was absolutely amazing, and the views were incredible. If you're afraid of heights (like I am), then I would suggest driving over unless you're ready for a brave ride.
You should definitely hike to left of bridge towards the beach. You will get the best photo oppirrunities
A breathtaking location! Don't forget to take a walk crossing on the path underneath the bridge for awesome views of the bridge and Pacific coastline.
One monument, multiple angles... Must view POV - Hawk Hill
Foggy. Windy. The kind of damp cold in August that goes right through you.
Added benefit of donation to parking and traffic via demand left on windshield.
Fun fact: one of few bridges in country where you can't afford to live on either side!
Seen it so many times in movies I had to see it in person and loved it
Beautiful experience! I suggest to have a good ride with bike on it
Gorgeous and iconic. Must see for tourists and natives a like. Come get a great profile pic! :)
Great place to visit, but when you walk on the bridge there is terrible noise from the traffic and very windy. The views are magnificent though.
We had been a few days prior and walked through some of the presidio trails, whilst doing so the fog rolled in quickly so we deferred strolling bridge until another time.
We returned on a slighty clearer but still foggy day, this made for some great pictures actually. It can get quite breezy up on the bridge so keep that in mind if you're a little unsteady.
It's also quite clear how the walkway should be shared with cyclists; proper cyclists had no issues with this and used the bridge for transport correctly. Unfortunately the tourists on two wheels are a different proposition entirely, most of which clearly struggled to even mount the bike never mind steer it straight. So be aware of idiots wobbling, veering, snaking, ignoring rules, etc...it also doesn't help they attempt to poorly cycle whilst holding a phone at arm's length.
Always enjoy going here. People are friendly most of the time. Lots of tourists, but that's the deal. Very cool.
Crossed the a bridge and sailed under the bridge. Wonderful day, beautiful views from land and sea!!
The famous Golden gate bridge, always nice to visit.
I would recommend the view in the other side, long walk but worth it
We rode the bike over the bridge and we are very enthusiastic.
Very cool and famous bridge. Must see if you are in the area.
A gorgeous view of the Bridge. A perfect place to take pictures. The east sidewalk is pedestrian, and the other side is for bicyclists.
The views, atmosphere and the people never let the experience to fail. The drive on the bridge, breathtaking views from the Vista point are experiences of a lifetime.
Are you kidding me? This is the greatest bridge in the world! Why? Because I grew up here. ;) beautiful, golden, and today I saw whales feeding and playing here.
Walking over the bridge is the next level of experience
We walked over the bridge and it was beautiful. Fantastic path for both walk it and cycling, we did both. I didn't expect it to be so cold mid summer! Windy, cold and misty - apparently this is pretty typical. If you're going to do it, even if the sun is shining 1 mile away, dress warm
Breath taking views . If visiting I highly recommend walking across the bridge rather than taking a bus.
Always love visiting the Golden Gate bridge! Beautiful from any angle!!!
The landmark of SF. If you dont go there and say you've been to SF, thats quite hard to accept
Iconic landmark beautiful views. Cute shop and historical data of the construction
Golden Gate Bridge tends to be foggy in the morning and then clears up in the afternoon, so I would recommend going after lunch! Outside the visitors' center there are several hands-on exhibits and a bit of the history of the bridge. The bathrooms are also located here, but note that they are not open 24/7, so keep that in mind if you are going later in the evening!
I been here twice they done a lot of upgrades and continues to be a good place to visit.
We were there at evening and it was raining. Though we enjoyed the walk and the view of the bridge. If you are visiting CA this is one of good place to go for a walk or for biking.
Beautiful bridge of course, we had a lot of fog in the summer, but that is common apparently.
If ur looking for a place to relax and injoy the view go here
Such an engineering marvel! Well worth the detour to come see this huge bridge!
Amazing tourist attraction with lots of ways to enjoy it from walking, biking or even using a motor bike if you choose to. There s great vantage points if you re the kind of person who loves taking pictures. It can get chilly so definitely bring a jacket.
