The bridge itself is quite the massive structure. It lends to a beautiful view and also makes for impressive photography. I didn t walk across the bridge but I did drive over one foggy night.

One day, I did walk up one of the nature paths that lead up to the gate which was interesting. The breeze was intense and there is a bit of an incline to the path. The path isn t paved, it s rocky and I advise those who choose to travel it to be cautious and note the kind of shoes they re wearing. Also, definitely check the weather before you visit! The first night I visited, the wind was so powerful , I couldn t even leave the car! It was so cold!!! Also, I advise visiting the bridge as a pedestrian, during the day. The paths leading to the bridge are pitch black. You ll see many people using their phone lights to help navigate the terrain.

Parking is extremely limited, so prepare yourself for that as well. You may have to park a ways away from the bridge resulting in a little bit of a walk.

The surrounding areas are beautiful. The scenery is lovely! I know there are other activities people can partake in around the bridge but I personally don t know of those details.

I would definitely recommend a trip to this popular landmark. If you re a lover of architecture and beautiful scenery, it s definitely worth a visit.

To be honest, I only traveled to San Francisco for this bridge and it lived up to my expectation. Bridge itself is amazing piece of art and creativity, specially when you realize that it was made more than 80 years ago. Best thing about the bridge is, it gives you new view every time and from every side. I would admit, it's not just the bridge but splendid view of the city has enhanced the beauty of the bridge as well. All in all, people walk on pedestrian path on the bridge ,which is great and you hear nerve wrecking sound of cars on the same bridge which is not so great. Still, I would never miss a chance to take a walk at the bridge whenever again.

What an amazing walk across this mighty bridge! I'm afraid of heights, so this was like "I conquered fears" in a sense for me! And the beauty of it. The history behind it. And the grandeur of this whole thing was breathtaking! It's definitely a must visit while in San Francisco I will say! And when you go with good friends, even better! Just looking at Alcatraz while you're on it and you can almost feel the power of the ocean while looking straight down!! And during the winter months (when I went) you can see some folks surfing and swimming down below, under and around the bridge!!! Kudos to them! This was again such an amazing experience and you will have the most fantabulous of time going to visit the Golden Gate Bridge!!!!!

An icon of the San Francisco Bay Area, the Golden Gate Bridge is more than a means for drivers to cross between the city of San Francisco and Marin County to the north.

And yet it's also a working bridge, with about 200 employees working around the clock maintaining the bridge for more than 100,000 cars crossing daily, as well as pedestrians, bikers and people riding the bridge's ferries and buses.

Amaizing place to visit. There is a big parking and also with big bus you can come here. In march in the morning there was so much fog you couldnt see the bridge and after two hours all was clear. Actually you can see the fog entering and exiting the bay in a couple of minutes... but you are in foggy city :) Also public clean restrooms available.

The sight is beautiful and the bridge although it's a bit Rusty it's still nice. Although the cars racing right next to you. I recommend to bike the bridge and not walk it because it's quite far especially if you walk back

It is an impressive bridge and it is also an egineering marvel of it's time built to last. It really doesn't need any reviews, but I have no other means to express the excitment I feel every single time I see it that close.

A must place to visit, best way you can get here and around the city is by taking a bus tour. It also helps you to understand the history all around but better check weather forecast as it's not always sunny

This is an iconic landmark. Don't forget to visit Fort Point below on the SF side (free), and Fort Baker on the Sausalito side. I rented a bike at Fisherman's Wharf, visited Fort Point, rode across the bridge, visited Fort Baker, and rode into Sausalito. I took the ferry back to the Ferry building and had a great view of the Golden Gate Bridge, the Bay Bridge, of SF and of the seldom seen back side of Alcatraz. Great day, great adventure.

Been here during the afternoon and evening now over 3 years apart. There was some work going on in the cliffs around it. Even your worst pictures will be the best with the bridge in the back. Wear something thick because it is windy and chilly, whatever the time of the day

Pros: epic, iconic engineering marvel. Recommend biking across to headlands loop, Sausalito and Paradise loop if you have the steam to do so.
Cons: can get crowded and is frequently shrouded in fog.

The bridge was beautiful. Bathrooms were hard to get to when visiting, and the line was very very long. Please make sure you pee before coming or there's a good chance you will piss yourself :)

It's a great park to visit though parking can be a bit of a nightmare. I recommend parking at the old military base or you're going to drive around forever. Make sure to set aside enough time to check out the bridge and the old gun emplacements beside and under the bridge. It's a fair amount of walking so probably not the best with small kids or the elderly.

A most see when visiting San Francisco. Best views can be found near the golden gate overlook on the city side of the bridge and battery Spencer on the other side. You can also get an good look at the golden gate bridge view point across the highway from battery Spencer. Battery Spencer offers the classic view of San Francisco and the bridge, but parking is more available at the two other points.

Had a great time going over the bridge it was a first time and a long dream to drive over it. Just be extremely careful at the parking sites to get out and look at the bridge and city a lot of different people their with no mask and even seen a guy sneezing and couching into his hand and touch a lot of things out there. Just be cautious and bring a mask, gloves and hand sanitizer.

The sheer magnitude is breathtaking! The view of the bridge from land, and then the view of the city from the bridge is pretty awesome.

When visiting, he sure to read the plaques and boards at the start explaining how the bridge was conceptualised and then built. You don't immediately think about it, but they had to build underwater as well.

If you decide to take a walk across the bridge, or even to the first peak, know that it's going to be noisy! With all the vehicles crossing the bridge, it's LOUD.

Sadly, the bridge is also a place people go to commit suicide, so don't be surprised at the suicide prevention notices along the way.

It s been many years since I was last in San Francisco and as a keen photographer, I ve always carried a sense of unfinished business with the Golden Gate. Fantastic views. A good hike across. You can feel the suspension bridge move when the wind is blowing strong! People from all over the world! You hear many languages.

A wonderful and Icon landmark. The beauty is breathtaking. I've been over this bridge many times in my lifetime via automobile and have walked it once. You can see Alcatraz from the bridge.

The bridge is iconic in and of it'self and then add the beauty of ol mother nature and you have yourself one amazing combination.

The fog rolls in pretty heavily oftentimes, and it's pretty cold and windy year round, so I suggest you wear layers.

BE AWARE--! There is a toll of $7.50 (as of 7/2017). Oftentimes there IS NOT anyone at the toll gate and they will snap a photo of your car and send you a bill. You will have 10 days to pay it, once you receive it in the mail. If you're on an extended vacation, or don't check your mail often, it will go up to $37.50-- this happened to me for being one day late.

Check out Baker Beach once you've explored the Golden Gate Bridge. It's the ocean front under the bridge!

Iconic landmark for San Francisco. Well maintained as a tourist destination.

Has awesome views of the city landscape including sea vistas, hills all around and the rising or setting sun.

First time visitors need to be careful about the strong winds and definite nip in the air (a good 5~10 degrees) compared to the neighboring areas.

A visit must include biking or walking over the bridge to soak in the ambiance.

You have not been in San Francisco if you have not been to the Golden Gate Bridge. Engineering at its finest! There is a Visitor Center where you can buy a lot of quality souvenirs. Just take your time to enjoy the view and the cool breeze. Then you will say like the song goes, "I left my heart in San Francisco".

The bridge is an enormous sight to take in, while standing on it looking up the sheer shock of vertigo could kill a man! Looking down into the water is safe because of the fencing put up and there are food courts at the drop off point for tourists with restrooms right next door.

Dollar day is great (as I did come on said day) however for a few dollars more, you can park in valet by clubhouse and don't have to walk miles from your parking spot. I chose this option instead. Fast admission ($6 a person and kids are FREE) Pus another $8 for valet, but it's worth it.

Kinda the most important thing to visit while in San Francisco. That bridge is massive and looks impressive. We couldn't stop being fascinated. It is definitely long. So if you consider walking on it - think twice. Driving took us already 5-10 mins. Also you gotta pay toll after 6pm. Which isn't nice. We didn't know that. And they only have a sign up right before you enter the bridge. Then you can't turn back. But anyways this bridge is worth a visit and will always remain a great memory.

You can never miss a national treasure. Prepare to walk the bride (watch out for bicycles and pedestrians coming from all directions at the same time - not a place to let pre-teens run or walk free - or they will bump into or be bumped into).
