I do not particularly like posh places but this time Holiday Inn was fully booked ;) A very big plus is location. one of the best breakfasts option I have recently had. rooms a bit old fashioned. like in all posh places big lobby, long corridors etc. on the photos views from the 8th floor at the sunset and sundown.

Absolutely brilliant hotel. The lobby is gorgeous, and the rooms are extremely comfortable and well appointed. If you are staying here, you likely already know how these properties are, and this one does not disappoint.

Centrally and very nicely located at the city park, well connected in terms of traffic, very good event area with excellent support,
Overall good kitchen, even with larger orders, very nice, hard-working staff at the reception, excellent breakfast with friendly, hard-working service. Sometimes very small and uncomfortable rooms, which by no means correspond to the standard and make you feel that the hotel is getting on in years. Above all, the bar area leaves a lot to be desired. With multiple visits, the service was slow, inattentive and unfriendly.

In general a very nice hotel. Room was fine if a little dated and the food was nice. The main reception and bar were beautiful areas with a particularly spectacular chandelier above the bar. However the waiting staff in Vienna are spectacularly rude barring a few rare cases and the waiting staff at the hotel were no exception to this. I found them surly and impatient and bit my tongue more than once.

Location is amazing, but services and food quality is an issue. 1) my room bed is not ready ( third bed is not yet set up) 2) towel has stink on it, 3) found lotion is USED when about to use, 4) fruits are spoiled in the breakfast place, 5) wait for 30 mins for replacing a not workable kettle, 6) information phone line no one pick up at 2000 hours to 2020 hours
Pros: front desk young lady is trying to help while check in

The hotel is very good, maybe a bit old, but unique. The breakfast is really great, otherwise no hotel know, which brought it to the intercontinental breakfast. You get everything and in exceptionally good quality. Do you really have to experience and enjoy. The service is very friendly and accommodating. The price-performance ratio is absolutely fine. I will gladly come again.

I started mailing with the hotel before my arrival...

I started mailing with the hotel before my arrival , and I heard from a lady named " Isabella Dietrich" . I officially mailed her TWICE about spelling my family name wrong , but she insisted I had to go to customer center. It made me no choice but made an expensive intercontinental roaming call to her to make it right . First of all she interrupted me while I was explaining myself until I asked if I can finish my words . Then I pointed out the text was correct cause to her it's just copied and pasted, but as for others like " Dear Huang " , it's just never right . And I couldn't help to ask why would she bring so so so aggressive when I tried my best to get my name right . I fight for anything about my name, my family and my country, can't stand a mistake not to mention this is a series mistakes .

There's a gentleman at the front desk which he's literally " the only one " tried to assist me during my stay , Mr. Fitz from the front desk . I had asthma when I arrived the hotel , everyone was just asking me questions and questions, Mr. Fitz was being very professional that he did nothing but help me to get my spray and pill immediately. I'm truly thankful for this.

The next day when I returned , I had some problems when I checked in . The lady with a pony tail gave me an attitude, it was a hard time . After several mins I couldn't help to ask if I can speak with Mr. Fitz , then she immediately got me checked in and mentioned that Mr. Fitz got me upgrade that night according to the AC problem the previous night .
The next morning after breakfast I was naked in bed preparing to shower . Someone just " BROKE INTO " my room . I was so shocked and speechless. I called the front desk about this and told then "I really had to shower now , please stop anyone doing it again ". They called me in like 3 mins . Yup , they just don't care that I've made myself clear I'll be in a shower .
I packed everything and went down to check out , it was just silent like nothing ever happened. Not even an apology. Until I brought it up with Ms. Gabriele who's assisting me checking out , here's what literally she said to me with the attitude " we apologize for that , the manager had talked with the cleaning lady . She's a human and human made mistakes. What happened just happened, we can't change anything. So we offer you your breakfast for free , that's it " It was just like another bomb to me at the moment. Excuse me ? It's a security issue. And then she stared at me being so mean " like I said , human made mistakes and we can't change anything .
I can't stop thinking this is just racist. Then I left . I decided to get help from ihg instead of anyone in Vienna. I was so helpless when I reported security issues.

Great view over ice rink, staff friendly, eloquent entrance area with a well stocked cocktail bar. Breakfast sausages not good. Might be knocked down for a new development so hurry before its gone.

Ugly box building filled with quite decent content. Very pleasant lounge area - good food even there, great bar, pianist, decent audience. The room is quiet clean. Location close to the center and 5 min walk to Belvedere

Was able to visit the Intercontinental on various occasions and events, the last being the WineAffairs.

Every event here is characterized by professional handling, accompanied by very friendly staff who act discreetly in the background.

The final nightcap at the very nice hotel bar was a pleasure thanks to the expert advice from the bartender!

Well let me be completely honest and I hope management read this review because I tried to leave one after receiving survey feedback email but system prevents from leaving negative feedback anyways.
This is not luxurious hotel and this is not 5 stars. Hotel needs serious recertification in order to be 5 stars or even 4 stars.
By the quality of the room and the hallway I felt like I stayed at Motel 6.
Seriously how can you possibly maintain such a low standard? Mattress, towels felt so cheap I don't even want to comment.
Short story I don't recommend staying at this hotel unless you look for 2 stars quality and want to pay for 5 stars!
Parking is another problem but you got money for "5 stars" you got money for parking.
Consider carefully

Located on the south side of the city park, this hotel offers a mixture of glamorous splendor and post-modern 60s / 70s style. You can retreat well in the lobby to have relatively private conversations.

Celebrated a fantastic wedding at the intercontinental on 14.09. in Vienna. Was a special day with helpful and friendly staff. Food and preparation perfect. Everything is perfect. Rooms and beds clean and comfortable. Nikita and the head waiter took care of us and fulfilled our wishes. Would anytime hold a celebration there again. Sandra

Nice Hotel with a view. Price is high, the outside a worst case szenario, but as soon as you step into this hotel, all uglyness is vanished ans the beautiful view on Vienna makes you forget all struggles in life.
The rooms are quite small for such a high rating and not too modern. But the view...
The bar, the employees, all very kind indeed.

We flew into Vienna; caught the CAT into the city and 1 stop on the U-Bahn took us to Stadtpark and when you emerge from the station the hotel is directly across the road.
The building is ugly - 1960s concrete box - and we were told due to be demolished and rebuilt in a few years time, but the staff we met were friendly, helpful and professional.
We had booked a Club room and checked in on the 12th floor. The room itself was clean, comfortable and well equipped, albeit quite small. The Club lounge was one of the highlights of our short break - good breakfast; really nice afternoon tea and more than adequate evening food, with complimentary drinks. The staff were delightful, with a special mention for Sophie - lovely young lady from Vienna, but who had lived in Ireland, and went out of her way to make our stay very enjoyable.
The hotel was about a 10 minute walk from the major sights - opera house, cathedral, etc.
We went primarily for the Christmas markets; unfortunately the weather wasn t kind - windy for a couple of days and very wet on one day, but Vienna is beautiful and we shall return one Spring/Summer.
