For the price, it is clearly bearable. There is no parking but a blue area. But at least you're close to the center. And if you're over 180 taking a shower is a real adventure

I loved the location! Rila Hotel is directly at the city centre. It is just a few minute walk away from metro station serdica which connects to pretty much everything in Sofia. Behind the hotel you can get to Vitosha boulevard after walking for a few minutes. There you can enjoy every kind of cusine including traditional Bulgarian food. The prices of hotel rooms were economical. We had a smart TV with access to free wifi, air conditioning and clean linens. The lady at the reception was very nice and helpful. Reception was available 24/7. The window opened to a spectacular view of Sofia and Vitosha.
Some of the staff didn't speak English which created difficulty in communication. Particularly when just before my conference dinner we wanted to borrow pressing iron for my business suit but it wasn't available and the receptionist couldn't understand English. My husband had to go multiple times throughout the day to borrow iron but returned empty handed each time. The rooms are a bit old fashioned but it was clean so everything is fine. No microwave or coffee maker was given to us and receptionist said that it was due to precautions against covid 19. The wood of the door was a little torn so the room lock was exposed which made us worry but the receptionist said the lock will hold.
Kralinka (i Think this is the right spelling) in the reception was very rude and unhelpfull. The Hotel itself was ok, but i Will give it a one star because of her.
Hotel 3 stars discreet, good central location, you can enjoy a beautiful view
Well-maintained hotel base. But after a major overhaul it would look much better.
Good clean, great service, great price. To go there
Not for a star !!!
Basically, nothing happens !!!
The hotel is old and amortized !!!
Updated recently, cheap, but beds are not comfortable, furniture is amortized. Breakfast well organized, good food
very well located... that is the only good point. for the rest, as it was already mention by others :
- pictures do not reflect the reality
- rooms are old dated (which would have not been a problem if I knew it before booking... but when you compare the pictures and the reality, you feel like you've been mislead
- all floors are dated, when only the reception and the lobby are renewed
- hard to get hot water
- AND the room was not cleaned during our stay (2 nights) !!!
Well located hotel, good and generous breakfast but rooms and bathrooms a bit run down ...
I liked it, from the minuses, the fact that there is a bar nearby and music plays in the evening. But after 23 it is turned off, so that if you decide to stop here, take the number, so that you would go out to the other side and go up)
The only positive feature of the hotel is its central location. In the middle of the noisy nightlife of Sofia. It is old and dirty. I stayed in 2014. Would I stay again, no. But Sofia is definitely worth a visit.
Good hotel, nice location but bad bathroom and nothing special to be 4 stars hotel and the wifi was incredibly poor!
Very good service, the waiters was with smile and professional manners.
Shiny cars, a famed bar, a very controversial hotel.
When I walk in to hotel I congratulate myself what a nice hotel I booked for myself. But when I walk in to room it was like a from 1960 s old I mean very old. Not clean at all. I stay 9 days I use 7 days same bath towel, staff not friendly, breakfast just terrible.i don t recommend to nobody.
Only one part of the hotel has been renovated, the rest is with the furnishings since the establishment of the hotel 40-50 years ago. Friendly service, but at too high rates per room.
Good .. In the middle of city centre great location
Not at the level of a 3rd
paintings, date of the past
Communist
Room 401 is not heating enough. (Room 401 Air Condition does not produce enough heat at March 07,2019)
Highly central location and varied breakfast are the prominent elements. The lobby is modernized but the rooms are quite old. Still, attention is paid to cleanliness, the sheets are white. No free parking is parked in front of it but 2 leva during the day
One of the old hotels in the heart of Sofia but in a very renovated look with its 4 stars at very reasonable prices!
Hotel built during comunist era with convinient location , poor internet and service.
Perfect location, but the hotel needs to be updated for this century, especially furniture.
Cheap place
Service 10
Rooms are not something
I didn't eat at the hotel because - enjoy culinary outside!! Big diversity
Honest if you came to enjoy Sofia, all you need is a bed and a shower and the room supplies that,
location is amazing :)
The higher the floor the worse WiFi connection I'm surviving 7th floor like meeeeh
But I recommend still cause it's my fault I didn't buy prepay sim
Nice hotel at a convenient price. Clean rooms and good location. Great place to begin your trip to Bulgaria
This hotel become a big disappointed when in between unloading our suitcases we got a serious ticket and weak locked. Hotel staff that staid out side didn t do nothing.
The room was not ready on time.
Location good. Clean inside room good. In the public space terrible smell of cigarettes.
Very well located, by cons very primitive rooms, old and depressing common parts.
Good bedding.
Centrally located, clean, poor bathroom (patched jackets, missing shelves, hooks, hair dryer). Good quality / price ratio.
The lobby looks nice, it has been refurbished. The rooms need some refurbishing also, some of the have a heating problem. Two elevators that are quick but not always functional. The food options do not include any vegan options.
Hotel being built during the communism and it is renovated but I think not too much in the last 25 years. The hotel is overdated, but there is fridge and AC in the rooms, huge balcony and beautiful view for the city (8th floor). Everything is with walk from the hotel for a few minutes. The main street with the most clubs and restaurants is just a minute from here. The room was cleen. The staff was helpful. Nice experience.
Awful, like going back to the 70's in the time tunnel. Decor dated, health & safety doesn't apply here apparently.
Centrally placed hotel offering real value for money. A real piece of communist history - it was once luxurious, but the decor now looks outdated. Still comfortable and clean, I'd recommend it to anyone not too fussy.
The corner rooms, like 312, are huge and privileged. Clean environment, good mattress, plenty of pillows, large multi-channel TV. It is conveniently located (center) and is economical. Breakfast is charged extra ten leva per person and includes several choices.
I can't do a full review because I only stayed one night. Overall good value for money. Comfortable beds but lacking the "heavy" blankets we didn't feel cold thanks to the air conditioner
We were in January'17 with the family in a room for 3 people. Air conditioning was used to heat the whole room - it can not heat at least minimally. We wanted from the reception additional heating on electricity. They said it wasn't there and what it was. They barely brought us an extra blanket. The morning was even worse from the cold. I strongly DO NOT RECOMMEND. I don't know how it is reputable at all. Everything looks old and used for a long time. If you have no other option only as a last resort and not in winter. Never again.
It should be much better, even when it's cheap, but it's really old. Big rooms, clean-ish, but needs work to improve
Rooms still feel Soviet. Great service from the people and great location.
best location f.sichtenswertikeiten 3.discotheken in sight another in 5.min.metro serdika 10.min
Perfect go there without hesitation.
Great location in the city center
very crazy socialist wanted. terrible restaurant ... service - zero.
The bedroom was a nice size, clean and tidy. My toilet / shower room was very disappointing. Hardly any room and very dated (see pic). Took ages for hot water to come through. There was an abundance of choice for breakfast. Staff were friendly.
Very good location The hotel rooms are very old and need a reform
Do not book
Seriously, the place needs to be demolished.
Carpets from the Soviet era, facilities the same...
Huh... Outside looks like a premium hotel, interior looks like it was renovated in 70's and abandoned since that time
The hotel has perfect location in the city center. The rooms are a bit dated and the bathrooms have not been renovated since the 80s BUT our accommodation was very clean! The breakfast buffet is modest but they have the nicest staff! The receptionists we dealt with were the nicest I have ever met, even if we were not the easiest guest.
Hotel pending renovation, central, clean and comfortable bed, but with carpet and bathroom for over 30 years
Very good service, hot water, nice staff, great view and is near to everything.
Staff unwilling to serve customers. This well located. very fair and poor breakfast, you leave it in the same room for you to prepare.
Very old and cold room, old bathroom without window and extractor fan. Fridge empty and off, after 9pm at the all they didn't even have mineral water, they advised me to go out (outside were -1 degrees), go and buy in the shop at about 300 meters. Absurd for a city center hotel.
Only good location and breakfast.
I don't recommend it.
The only positive note is that it is just a short walk from the center, the rest to forget
Apart from the listless reception and the dated elevator, I recommend the hotel, good location, decent breakfast, nice rooms with a nice view if facing Vitosha Mountain.
My visit was related to organized training and my comment does not reflect the state of the service that provides the place in detail. As far as the halls are concerned, I could say that these were the most comfortable chairs I used to sit in during my training. The situation, however, is "Happy Social", both in the halls and in the lobby. No window in two of the halls opened. We were only allowed to open the door on the terrace, which could not be used because the guests of the hotel threw tops and had the opportunity to damage the pavement. The food in the restaurant was not unhealthy. The different dishes looked almost the same, despite the different content. The tables and chairs were massive and comfortable.
Under construction, a nightclub and no soundproofing. I had stupidly booked a room to sleep. Even on the 8th floor, I benefited from the vitaminized sound system on the ground floor until 4am.
The location is very good but the rooms are very old, you are afraid to step on the carpets, they look so dirty, the air conditioners are not enough to heat the cold outside, so the rooms are cold at the same time, as if it was not enough, the electricity was cut off last night, we stayed in the cold for hours, we asked the reception to refund our money, they absolutely refused A nightmarish hotel does not deserve even a star.
This is my preferred hotel. Excellent service and location.
Think twice before booking this hotel. It's in a very central part of Sofia and the lobby is dazzling bright and fresh but that's IT. As soon as you enter the elevator you are getting in to a time machine. The elevator and the corridors are a sad reminder of the past but they are still in much better condition then the rooms. O my god the rooms are horrifying. The best part is the location and the view.
Everything! From the reception the guy was to sell to us a weed a hundred euros per grams, and he said if you want something... this is! The cover on bed was blood, and they didn t changed for 3 days! Every stuff was a really bad guy, not helping just have a big face!
Good 3 * outdated but functional hotel. Comfortable bed and TV Netflix cn. The normal breakfast. The best, the view from the top and the good price.
