Excellent value for money .. 2 or 3 little things a little tired, but nothing serious. Very quiet hotel, despite the 2 bars of the ground floor.
Ideally located in the city center .. you can do everything on foot. Parfais for a stay of or 3 days ..

I was on a visit to Sofia for a weekend with two friends, we stayed at the Hotel Rila. Its best feature is certainly the very central position and, which is not bad in the case of leisure stays but which does not interfere absolutely in the case of need for rest, exactly on top of a very popular club !! The rooms are very large and with large windows but not perfectly restored in the finishes and furnishings, something they are probably remedying given the very recent renovation of the ground floor.

The conditions in this hotel are critical and until 4am can not be asleep because the hotel under the hotel is working all night and the window frames are old-timer and the track. It also closes with a reel. In the morning in breakfast at 8, there is nothing left, and it is a bit cold (under a bit of a lot). Moreover, the Reservations Department did not want us to refund the unused nights, despite the poor conditions and the respectful reasons for changing the hotel. It does not go for a hotel in the center of the capital to offer such conditions.

Two stars:

Two stars:

1. For the location
2. For the hall

For all the rest I have to say it was an extremely disappointing and bad experience.
At first glance the hotel looks like a modern and well-kept structure thanks to the entrance and hall. After the hall with its first steps, the decay begins.
Old and buttonless elevators, dark and airless corridors, at times I forgot I was on vacation as the colors of the walls and upholstery reminded me of an old orphanage. But the highlight are the rooms, carpet everywhere, obviously dirty, along with the curtains and unfortunately also the sheets and holes in the walls hidden by a trivial piece of adhesive paper (RIDICULAR TO SEE) old and broken bathroom tiles, smells of damp and mold traits. Not to mention the bathroom fixtures, yellowed ceramics and a bathtub with a black background.
I avoid talking about the dining room but I can not say that the security system leaves a lot to be desired, in fact many situations are at risk of security and I do not understand how this hotel did not undergo checks with severe penalties.

The most horrible hotel I have stayed in. With no heating in the rooms although outside were minus 5 degrees I had to use the AC unit to warm up the room. Please do yourself a favour and stay somewhere else.

The hotel Rila is far from being able to say what a good hotel I have been, they have washed their faces at the reception but the rooms leave much to be desired, you can not return in the afternoon and find the bed how it is in the photo and only having changed A towel in front of the bed we left a paper and we had three days, but despite all this I have to say in his favor that is in a privileged situation.

The Rila Hotel is the BIGGEST SCAM on Booking. I never see something like that in my whole life. All images on Booking are FAKE. I'll show you the real photos little later. Be careful when you get in the elevator because you can Die in it.. NO SAFETY AT all. The room is dirty and smells like shi*. In one word DISASTER.

The only positive note is the central location 50 meters from Vitosha Boulevard. Untidy rooms, very dirty floor carpets, toilets to improve. Dangerous elevators because they didn't have double doors and so you could see the wall slide.

I stayed for one night at the hotel. I arrived an hour before check-in, as I have done many times before, but they almost kicked me out after explaining that I didn't really want the room, it was just leaving the luggage to go for a walk, they were a little friendlier. The location is very good, literally in the middle of the city, so close to everything! I was given a room upgrade for the altercation when I arrived at the hotel. I suppose it was more a matter of room organization than kindness, but fine. The rooms have clearly not been updated since the hotel opened more or less. The bathroom is very outdated, the rest of the room did have a new TV and air conditioning. But if everything in general is quite outdated, elevators and hallways. The lobby is if it is newer, but nothing more than that. It is not even close to a 4 star, so do not go with many expectations. I would only go back in case of getting a very good price.

Central but to be restored! The entrance hall is beautiful but the rooms have remained to the 50's !!! Anyway the value for money is excellent for the position and the services offered. Friendly staff for the Bulgarian standard. Proper cleaning.

Worst staff I have ever encountered. Took us more than 20 minutes just to get checked in because they were messing up all the time and at night we couldn't sleep because they own a club at the group floor and they "cannot do anything about it" on weekends. don't go there if you don't want to suffer w/o reason.

Good hotel from the entrance in the hall you expect who knows that but in reality the rooms are a bit old. Fortunately for me they gave me the 804 on the 8th floor 2 double beds very comfortable. Smart TV with netflix which made me fly, and above all, wonderful conditioner of the city. The good thing is that it is very central. I recommend it for a short stay.

A thief. The hotel does not have parking and the town hall gets 22 leva (13 ) per day. Moreover, no one tells you that it is not the hotel parking and you wake up with the locked wheel. Unlocking costs 30 leva. Theft!!!

Evaluation of this place is really difficult ... because very extreme :). Reception - modernity. Floors and rooms - 80's. What can be seen in the pictures. Two different worlds ;). However, the hotel defends itself with good service - all are polite and speak English. The second plus of this place is breakfast - really rich. And the third is a very good location. So if you turn a blind eye on the wall unit and tiles from the PRL, it will turn out to be quite nice :)

A nice little hotel in the heart of Sofia. Excellent location, a ten minute walk from the main metro stop directly from the airport.
Reception is very modern and bright, however the rooms were dated and in need of an upgrade, however for a cheap hotel with such a great location is does the job perfectly. The beds were comfortable and the room was warm, the staff were moderately friendly but very busy.
We didn't have breakfast so no comment on the food but overall if you're not spending much time in the room and want great value for money in an ideal location this is a perfect hotel.

The hotel is perfectly located in the Sofia center, in a nice area. Staff is friendly and helpful. My room at 8th floor had a very nice view over the city and seemed in a process of unfinished renovation. The carpet, the towels and bed sheets were clean and new, but the furniture and the bathroom were old. The room was clean, though, even if a bit smelly. I think it's a good choice of you are not very demanding.

Maybe a bit old and many walls are kind of falling apart. Huge. Still, it is in the heart of Sofia, so super position. Ive just slept there 2 nights and everythng was fine. Maybe a bit expensive for the quality of the rooms, which are very old. The toilets as well.

Hotel in full renovation, beautiful hall room on the sixth floor with a beautiful view with balcony! Good breakfast that we had on the terrace always with a view. The main street with the shops and the nightlife is just a little bit around 250m so it's easy to reach it on foot x shopping or a romantic and nice dinner in one of the gracious bars. Beautiful city, we will definitely return to the Rila because we had a great time.

The hotel is in s great place of the city, no doubt! The lobby and entrance look clean and welcoming, they must have renovated and freshened it up. The rooms however, can use a bit of touch. The furniture and overall feel is as if ypu were somewhere between 15-20 years ago, then they would have been top notch. Despite that, everything was clean and the staff was very polite and helpful.
I would recommend the place!

The location is very nice. The hotel is within walking distance to all places to visit in Sofia. The quality is moderate, the price is reasonable. There is an electrical problem. The reception is uninterested.

Excellent location.

Excellent location.
Clean and simple.
We remained satisfied.

Nice and modern hotel from the outside but lackluster is old-fashioned internally. To be modernized.
The staff is very kind, the location is convenient and the rooms are large.
Although the cleanliness of the rooms is good, the presence of stains on the carpet, various holes and exposed stucco all over the sink makes the room seem not very welcoming.
Competitive price considering that the breakfast included in the price is quite good. Decent view

My family and I checked in on a Friday evening, planing to spend the night here on our way to Greece.

The placement of the hotel is excellent and the view from the higher floors is beautiful: a full view of Sofia. We stayed in an apartment suite with two rooms. The furniture is mostly refurbished, but the walls and doors give away the age of the hotel and it has the classic vibe of a socialist hotel (I didn't dislike it, because it felt well taken care of, but it was a strange thing to see the old wooden doors with matte glass panels). The room and bathroom were clean when we arrived. There is air conditioning in one of the rooms, a mini-fridge, and three balconies (two of which are connected to one of the bedrooms). It's moderately spacious, slightly bigger than the usual 3* hotel.

The matresses were stiff, which wasnt necessarily a bad thing for me, but my sister for example did not like it. The matrimonial bed was made of two beds pushed together, but the matresses were pushed closely together so there was no space between them.

Major cons:
- the pub downstairs is very noisy and the windows dont block out all of the sound (keep in mind we were on the 8th floor and the bass was still audible)
- there is no parking lot for the hotel, and parking in downtown is difficult due to a strange time-bound system (e.g. parking is free only at night and during the day you have to pay 2 leva (about 0.5 ) each hour BUT NOT MORE THAN 2H OR 4H, depending on the area)

However, we paid 66 a night for a 4 person suite in a central area, which I think is an amazing deal if you want to go out and explore the town. For breakfast, we should have paid 10 per person. I think it's a practical place at which to stay for a few knights.
