Cheap, friendly staff and the room is fine for the price it is
The staf are so friendly, The bed are The best, bedroom is ok.
But The bathroom is very old.
62 until today the cohomism is alive .... Beauty and heritage for years but it works and will make it so much ....
Nice hotel clean refurbished inside though from the outside it looks old. Rooms comfortably large. Breakfast good. Madam at serving breakfast very good!
Nice hotel, clean, very friendly and helpful crew. Perfect location.
The hotel is in a super place, but unfortunately the inside is very retro! Upgrading it will become a top hotel. The lack of parking is also a rather awkward thing, and the one offered at the reception desk is too expensive and not very close
excellent location, good breakfast, nice views, the mixture of old days and modern times - the rooms cry for refurbishment, but the beds are very comfortable
Top location!
Special atmosphere for this Hotel which knew the splendor of communism
! Perfect as a base, very central. The beds are good and the bathroom vintage but very clean. Good pressure for the shower despite the fifth floor. Air conditioning which works well ... Beware of the balconies for which the guardrails are very low .... Friendly and efficient welcome
Quiet bar on the adjacent terrace open very late for a quiet drink.
Green spaces and playgrounds 50 m away for children.
Hotel Rila. With mediocre comfort. But the location can be preferred. If you are looking for comfort just looking for a place to sleep for a few nights and if you want to get to the center, prefer. It is within walking distance to historical and touristic places.
It's like a museum - equipment from 1960s renovated partialy in 1990s and entrance hall nowdays. Interesting historical excursion though. Rack prices are definitely too high.
Great value for money! Booked this place as a last minute change of plans to stay in Sofia for one night. Reception stored our bags until check in time, which is always helpful. The reception and lounge are nicely renovated and the location could not be better. We booked a 3 bed room and it was huge! nice large windows too. large flat screen tv, a sofa and the most decently priced mini bar I have ever seen. Bathroom wad large and to our surprise has a bath tub but needs a small renovation. Thank you for a great stay! Breakfast was pretty good too for the price.
Well located hotel, right in the center, but:
photos of the hotel not in accordance with reality: very average standard room.
bathroom: the shower was almost unusable, the water did not flow well from the shower head
bedroom insulation: bedroom facing the street, above the nightclubs. Provide earplugs.
breakfast: low quality.
I don't understand why this hotel got such excellent ratings. I do not recommend.
So the first impressions are not very clear breakfast is poor
The staff is kind.
A 5 minute walk from the center on foot
The hotel has a very lying entrance. When you walk in, it looks clean, modern and renovated. But our room was terrible, definitely never renovated. The only new thing was the big plasma TV that looked so out of place compared with the rest of the room, which had rotten wood everywhere - the walls, the dresser and the desk. The bathroom literally had the old holes from where the shower and the old toilet used to be, but hey at least the curtain was somehow new. Not the tiles, though. Probably the only good things about the hotel were the location (it's right in the center) and the view.
Avoid avoid avoid. Rooms as old as communism in Eastern Europe and an internet connection which makes my grandma's donkey look like a racehorse and what to say about the staff...the only one who gets a thumbs up is the lady who runs the breakfast buffet. Anyway, please avoid like the plague. Location was the one saving grace and the reason we didn't walk out as soon as we got to see our lovely bedroom (btw, that is the stuff of nightmares)
the location very good but poor service and very old rooms
It is the kind of hotel I like: former socialist structure and service, confortable and with city view. Unfortunately it is not fully maintained and the lobby has been completely changed into a globalised hotel hall. They should have kept the old one.
The reception is very pleasant after the renovation
Good experience, the location is ideal, in the heart of the city and the rooms are very decent for the price
Expensive, no comfortable, bad Internet, good place
I saw only cosmetic changes. Still the bust of communism
Hotel Rila is built on the best possible location in Sofia, is old historical hotel, very well maintained, all is functional, have nice big bathrooms, big sunny rooms, balconies with wonderful view and many sunn even during the cold winter days :)
Very good value for money right in the heart of Sofia.
Used to be the apparatchik Hotel in the old communist times. We still can feel a peculiar environment of these old times.
Poor.
Do not go to the rooms.
Seedy rooms.
Breakfast mediocre.
Only advantage, is in the city center with good places to go out.
Good staff the hotel is in a great postion and the facilaties are ok
Good choice. Location, staff, welcome. Highly recommended.
Rooms with old carpets, beds and bathrooms to shudder ... convenient for the position! Sconsigliatissimo !!!
The rooms are very old
The pictures shown are only for reception
The lifts are bad, old and narrow.
Good hotel to travel and get to know Sofia. Do not expect modernity. My partner and I went and were very comfortable. THE B&B complies but little else. It's economic .
Very helpful staff ,the rooms were lovely and clean
The ultra-central location and proximity to the most important tourist attractions.
Particularly good value for money. At a very central point. Refurbished. With free pay-TV and coffee-tea in the room. Rich breakfast buffets with 4 . A problem with the towel change policy and cleaning of the room is done every 3 days.
Very central, clean and friendly. Fantastic breakfast!
Good location. Urgent need for renovation. Responsive staff. Despite diligence, hygiene is not up to standard.
The location is very central. A wide range of hotels are available from the city of Sofia. The entrance to the hotel is 5 star hotel quality, the room we stayed in the Junior suite was large enough in size. Staff was very helpful about suitcases, I would gladly leave
Hotel of communist construction, very luxurious for that time, nostalgic but very central.
Furniture from the 70's, extremely damaged and looking dirty....at least at the 8th floor. In the lift you risk serious injuries!!!
I have been going to Rila hotel periodically since 2 years ago, it is in the city center and fine for.few days.
During my last visit to Sofia, from october 5th to october 10th, I wake up with insect bites, I thougth the mosquitos did it, I found more than 15 bites, the last day I had more than 30 bites, definitely are not from mosquitos these are from bedbugs or fleas, please clean the rooms properly and desinfect them and be sure to stop the plague.
Very attentive staff, always willing to help, nothing too much trouble. Great food. I stayed a fortnight and I honestly cant fault the hotel. Plenty to see and do, very close to the city centre, but quiet.
Very Historic Interesting City.
TOP TIP .....DON'T ..Take Travellers Cheques NO-ONE will change them. Not even the Central Bank. Take US Dollars or use Credit Card. I cashed my travellers cheques when I arrived home.
4 stars because it is in the process of reform. The hotel is very well located. The room they gave us was spacious with all the amenities. A bit dated but with new beds, new smart TV enclosures and an excellent view. The breakfast was fine. Something varied in a small place. We paid 40 approx and we found it highly recommended.
Service i.o room ok except the showers / wc would need to be renovated Location is great!
An enviable central position easily accessible from the airport by underground. From the rooms you can enjoy a beautiful view.
A really advantageous price partly justified by the small bathroom even if clean, and some furnishings to be replaced because they are obsolete.
Overall a good relationship between quality and price.
very central, very cheap, very friendly, great view if room in the 7th Stocl
Strategic and convenient location, adequate services and assorted and complete breakfast.
It is a newly renovated hotel in the center of the city. The prices are afordable but the location is very good.
Great location and a 3 room sized room falling on us. Bed, TV, children's rooms, entrance hall and bathroom with bathtub.
Terrible check in and check out process. It takes to much time to check in, and on the check out when you are asked if you had anything from the mini bar you have to wait to send someone to go and check whether you lied. The renovation is superficial. The tiles in the bathroom are at least 50years old and the audio is a as transparent as light. You listen to everything. Only location has a real value.
Curtains didnt Block the sunlight, place was underconstruction, price was sketchy now I know why.
Centrally located in Sophia, very close to the Srdja stop, to the extent that it is easy to get to the airport trains and buses. Unfortunately we only have one night in a big room "suite with a living room, a mini bar, a coffee maker, a large bathroom, a big plasma TV. The room is not a lux, however, for the money of 40 was fine and clean. .
good staff but old elevator and the AC was not working when i got there. the rooms are decent. the bathroom is ok. the location is good
I arrived in this hotel on december the 23st at 4 pm and, I met the worst receptionist I had never met during a life of travels around the world, incompetent, rude, totally stupid. So, I cannot describe the rooms because I just left. I forget, the lift was out of order.
Sadly, like a hotel I remember its high level, but with the best breakfast of many European hotels I've visited
It was cheap, but after the renovation of the reception, it grew. In the rooms things are compromising. Perfect location. This is his biggest plus
