The entrance of the hotel and the lobby are renovated and look nice and fancy. The rooms are outdated and definitely need renovation. Despite that the room was warm and clean. The hotel has great location in the city center but there are a lot of things to be done in the hotel to become favorite place to stay.

Hotel just minutes from the center and the pedestrian zone. Easy to find, good access. The communist-style hotel, a much-worn interior, shows that it has not (or never) been renovated in a long time. A small reception desk at the entrance. Two small lifts. Breakfast very modest and constantly the same. There is no central heating, but rather air conditioning in each room. Categorized with 4 stars, but realistically at most 2, possibly 3 because of position. Needs serious renovation !!
Excellent location! Great view from the balcony, good service, the room is clean and maintained but very very old (mostly the bathroom / shower). - Not comfortable with baby stroller.
Nn surely from 3 stars ... ancient room ... tiles and bathroom tiles that moved .... wooden clogs in the room and corridor detached from the wall .... old room .... at 7 am nn it was possible to eat breakfast ....
The staff is extremely good, my only point is that rooms need refreshment. Changing the doors that are from the time of the house, as well as the furniture inside ... and maybe that's their idea. Watch out for the parking lot on the front, because the nasty guys put me a clamp for 2 minutes after the previous hour.
Hotel in a great location. Close to the metro leading to the airport and the Vitosha boulevard. Very friendly and helpful staff. I had a great time :-)
The internet connection is really bad. The rooms look bad and are cold. The bathroom has no ventilation so the moment you use the bathroom your entire room will smell like it. The staff is polite but cold. Only the breakfast lady is so lovely and full of love! Great to wake up and to see her! (She is a strong working woman the one star i voted is for her.)
Mold on the walls ... better to have curtains instead of doors ... the bathroom unacceptable best to go to the tree outside ... 38 euro says on the internet by close you will pay 75 ... broken tiles with garbage furniture ... NO RELATIONSHIP OF THE INTERNET PHOTO WITH REALITY.
The hotel room is warm, clean but old. I don't expect too much for using the hotel just for sleeping. The location is very good, close to everything you need to visit.
A hotel in the center of Sofia. All very close. The rooms are spacious and renovated but in the bathrooms there are still things of the old. The staff very friendly and attentive. We will repeat
The location is perfect, just one minute away from the main shopping and restaurant/bar street. Add one more minute and you are at the metro station. How one would judge this hotel depends mainly on ones expectation. The building itself isn't in the best shape anymore, although you can see its former glory. The hallways might seem a bit spooky at first, but the rooms are clean and in good condition. They even have modern TVs. I award 5 stars, because of the very friendly staff.
Our room was # 516. On the 5th floor overlooking the ugly tin roofs and windows of some office buildings. The smell of "old" and stagnant is not particularly pleasant, although the room is constantly ventilated. Maybe from the carpeting, although it didn't look very old and tatty, unlike the doors and wardrobe. The bathroom was under all criticism - torn, old small tiles and a bathtub several decades old. Hair towels from previous tenants. Beds and a TV + a wardrobe were newer, but that couldn't erase the overall impression of the hotel.
Centrally located hotel within walking distance of all the main attractions, large room on the 8th floor overlooking the city of Sofia, old but clean bathroom. Friendly and welcoming staff.
Rude and disrespectful staff. Poor cleaning of the rooms. Cold rooms, bathroom without bidet and radiator. Breakfast buffet based purely on salty. Strongly not recommended
They have renovated the entrance, but the hotel requires a profound renovation. Large and clean room and friendly staff, but the furniture is destroyed and the bathroom is from another time.
You can't have it any more central in Sofia. That's the pro. The cons are that while the lobby has been renovated, everything that I care about in a hotel (rooms, breakfast, the hot water boiler for the shower) hasn't. It's still showing its origins in the communist Era a lot. Although, coming to think of it, you might want to book one night as an adventure. The evelators and the view are quite cool as well.
The modern reception deceives because already in the elevators and in the rooms we return to reality. A reality made up of old hotels that smacks of mold and brings to mind the antiquated Soviet structures of a Sofia that fortunately today is changing.
Location of the hotel is awesome. It's actually right next to a club. Like literally. The hotel room looks modern, bed is comfortable and there is air conditioning. But, the bathroom? It looks very old, small and bit dirty. Other then that it's a nice choice to stay for a few nights.
As for 3 stars - normal. But if you find fault - not neatly in the rooms, the furniture is old, beaten in places. The TV in our room did not work and the problem was not solved. Internet catches weakly. But you can survive, especially 1 night.
A little disappointed at this accommodation as I could feel the vibrations from the music next door into the early hours. The bed was comfortable the room was nice, location was good but just to noisy for me to stay again
Perfect as a location .... good value for a bit of noise because our room was just a club ... but convenient for those who want a camping .... very simple breakfast .... with 5 euros better eat elsewhere !!!
Old rooms. Creaky floor. Basic, but decent for the price. However ... this hotel has the worst noise insulation i have ever experienced. If someone is using the bathroom across the hallway, you will hear it.
Ideal location in the heart of Sofia. Breathtaking view from floors 6 and above. Do not expect brand new furniture as it is a definitely refurbished soviet hotel. But the first 2 factors overlap the latter for me a lot. Bonus: helpful and cooperative staff.
Great location according to other hotels and prices as the price is very good The rooms are large and spacious the only shortage is the lack of breakfast
In the center of Sofia, with parking spaces, which is a great advantage for guests. The hotel itself has a very spacious reception area with reception, friendly staff. Protection measures are applied. The whole hotel looks quite old, needs renovation. Prices are moderate.
Very cheap hotel and the reception looks amazing, but the rooms weren't as good. The mattresses were nice and firm but the furniture was old and squeaky. The doors had to be slammed to close them properly. The bathroom didn't have a proper shower, just an alcove in the wall with a shower head on the wall and it looked dirty because all the rules were old and crumbling. Staff cleaned every day though.
The location was perfect and the staff polite but apart from the renovated lobby the rest of the hotel is decades behind. Especially the bathroom is unacceptable not to say tragic. We did not like breakfast.
First of all, the summary: it is one of the most terrible hotels I have ever entered!
The lobby is newly renovated but the rest is estimated to be from the 70s, the elevator is almost fatal (please do not enter !!!), the rooms are dirty, something comes out of the tap that has nothing to do with water in any way , the bathroom as such does not deserve its name because the sink is provisionally fastened with plaster of paris just like parts of the balcony, on the mattresses of the bed (I call it that because it was more of a screwed-together disaster which was about to go into service fail) Napoleon has probably already slept.
All in all you should avoid this house if you have another option, even if there was no reason to complain about the friendliness of the staff.
Excellent location, the center, most of the sights are within walking distance. There is a computer with a printer and a scanner for the hotel guests who helped me a lot. The staff is polite.
Hotel Rila.! Memories memories. It's not what's been upgraded or the situation is not good. I express my personal opinion: If I own, I'll fire ALL. From the cleaner to the hotel manager. And I will announce COMPETITION.
Big but old hotels in the center of Sofia need to be thoroughly overhauled, but as such, it is cheap for a night or two but keep in mind the rooms are old. I liked the view on the high floors with balconies in every room of the hoyel, it is very central, the cafe under it is revived in the evenings, you can spend time who wants to come alive in the evenings, but within walking distance of the mall of sofia or the hotel, there is a grocery store nearby, we did not eat or drink at the hotel, we bought everything from outside. There are two mosques close to the mosque due to the fact that the prices are old and cheap compared to other hotels. One was a museum but the other was hungry but the area around it is full of afkan or Syrian.
