Very good position, normal home but dirty, bad service
There was a first-class hotel in socialist times. Unfortunately, little has changed in the interior since then. This is depressing. Moreover, the cost of the room is not small. Of the pros - neat, neat. And most importantly, an incredible view from the window !!!
We booked a room with a double bed and when we arrived there were only rooms with single bed.
We asked for a transfer to pick us up and the same did not appear.
The rooms and corridors in need of a refurbishment, but breakfast was good.
The hotel is very mediocre, most rooms have no bathtub and are small. The photos mislead customers. The breakfast is relaxed. The view of the rooms is horrible. The sockets work so they want and there are very few. The TV does not work.
Ideal location in the center, the parking area is blue, the furniture in the bathroom is outdated.
Very central hotel, large and clean rooms. Old and renovated halfway. Recommendable
The location is great, and we got a decent price, but the service and breakfast aren't good. One of the days, house cleaning didn't come by, we called and ask that they come while we go out again, and they only made the bed (didn't change out the cups, or towels)
Good location, nice reception and view. Kind receptionist. Room smells after cigarettees, no room service and very old furniture. WiFi in the room super week.
There is no hot water in the bathroom, otherwise it is a nice place with good views from the high floors.
The lobby has made it nice. You're going downstairs and your old Soviet building.
Small hotel, located in the city center and close to everything there is free parking near the hotel, but I have not eaten at all the restaurants and cafes a block away
Good price, great location, less designed and updated, more outdated
Good hotel close to the center of Sofia, abundant international breakfast, very modest prices. The rooms are large and tidy, the bathrooms not as beautiful as they are a bit old. Polite and helpful staff. All in all, given the central location, I would recommend it.
Visit as a couple to Bulgaria in winter 2020.
* Reception: very good, we arrived very early and they allowed us to check in earlier.
*full breakfast.
* wifi: worked great.
* room: spacious, good sheets, black out curtains, closet and tv.
* Bathroom: With bathtub, good intensity and temperature, good quality of towels.
There was no hairdryer included in the room.
The hotel has a very nice ground floor part but the rest of the building deserves better maintenance, aesthetically it is very outdated and the most striking thing was that the elevators had only one door, which I thought was a bit dangerous if you go with children.
The location is very good.
* The hotel has two computers, I needed to do a management that could not be done by cell phone and neither of them worked! nobody solved the problem. So to take it into account in case you have this need.
* I appreciate the detail of putting an electric kettle in the room in winter times. Helps comfort after a walk in the cold.
In a good place in the center of Sofia, but the bathroom in the room I was, and may be in all other rooms, is from Toshovo bye time.
Excellent location. The room is a bit old-fashioned. Unfortunately sometimes a long wait at the reception. If you have to take public transportation, check out on time. The bar is not always open so it is best to buy drinks at a local store. The breakfast is ok.
Hotel Rila is located in the heart of Sofia, only 50 meters from the main shopping street of the city, Vitosha Boulevard and within walking distance of Serdika Metro Station. It has a bar, a modern restaurant and a 24-hour reception. It offers spacious rooms, most with views of the city and Vitosha Mountain. Free WiFi is available throughout the hotel.
All rooms at Hotel Rila have air conditioning, a minibar and an electric kettle. All rooms have a private bathroom with a shower, and some have a balcony or terrace. Some units also have a separate living room and bedroom.
Guests can sample modern cuisine at KOTO Restaurant, while classic cocktails are available at Diip Bar. The famous PM Club, with a DJ, cocktails and lively atmosphere, is located at the hotel.
Additional services offered by the hotel include laundry and dry cleaning, and an airport shuttle can be provided upon request and at an additional cost.
Ivan Vazov National Theater and Serdika Metro Station are a 7-minute walk away. To the cathedral "St. Alexander Nevsky and the National Palace of Culture can be reached on foot in 20 minutes.
Price, view, lift access, tv, WiFi, balcony view are the cons in this rating that I give them. It has no private parking so either you have to pay for it or to go park your car somewhere else. The restaurant it had now is gone because they put a good wall and now someone turned it in a disco. So what they have is a breakfast room - a Swedish table kind with lots of oriental variety of foods but it costs good 7 lev or 3.6 per person. I still was happy because I had good drink and coffee after the breakfast. The staff is polite and friendly. The room was mainly ok. The tv has 90 channels of which 30 are working. The smart TV option was a bit old and luckily the YouTube was functional after I connected the TV to the WiFi. Disappointing was the bathroom, the hygiene is just fine but the taps and shower appliances are way too old and it is hard to adjust the right water temperature. The view of the balcony is good, even there is a closed summer pub in front. There is a very easy transport just nearby by metro and it costs very cheap 0.8 in one way wherever you want to go in Sofia, and of course town centre is easy accessible by walking.
Good hotel, right in the centre of Sofia, easy access to metro, Vitosha avenue and a lot of sites. Good price, very polite staff, great view over the city (5-6th floor up).
All I read is true. Location is fabulous. The entrance is impressive. Post 1980's :). There is no car parking :(
Great location..I asked to pay on the spot even if paid in advance .... I was assured that the sum would be returned .... it never happened ..
Very nice and cheap hotel at the center of the center of the city :) it is a tall building with one of the most beautiful sights
Conveniently located to the airport and city center. Good breakfast. Unfortunately, on the ground floor nightclubs are very loud!
I really didn't enjoy the hotel, the rooms would look awful, no hot water. Not suitable for people who come for vacation. Central area but not worth it.
The only renovated part of this hotel is the loby, and the TV, Everything else is same as it was in 1970. Oh and the breakfast was not good and with poor choice.
Hotel of the communist period ... remained so and so in many spaces. For the nostalgic like me it is a pleasure to stay there.
Reception redone, rooms of few pretensions, bathrooms would have to be redone.
For a few days I would recommend it given the low prices and the good price
A beautiful and good hotel with a taste of the past
Rila hotel Sofia, when you enter you think kite.
But as soon as you step into the elevator you enter the old dilapidated hotel.
Rooms are very tasteless and counterfeit.
My bed was fair.
Bathroom is terribly old.
There is slow Wi-Fi available.
Breakfast is very poor and doesn't match the photos on their site and on the booking site. Therefore these photos.
If you are here for several nights, you will not have cleaning and fresh towels on the last day. When I report that I would like clean towels, I get the message that this is not a 5 star hotel but 3 stars.
PLEASE NOTE THERE IS A VERY NOISY DISCO UNDER THE HOTEL. AND SOUND YOU HEAR AND FEEL THROUGHOUT THE HOTEL.
The location is the only thing that is top.
Digit 2
Pros: Great location, spacious rooms (mine was super huge), quiet.
Con: Could use bit more maintenance.
Exceptional location. Great three star. Warm and spacious rooms. Abundant and complete breakfast. Friendly staff. Excellent welcome
Rooms are good, bed comfortable and good shower.
Too much light from the window early in the morning will wake you up.
Breakfast is not great (no fresh juice for example )
Well located in the center of the center. Recommended for that but pay attention to the expectations on the rooms. Essentially uncomfortable and definitely shabby.
a good location in the center of Sofia can still be renovated
Hotel central and good treatment. Ready to restore the rooms. Clean but of the 50s minimum.
Terrible hotel! please do not make the mistake of staying there. the reception is renovated, but the rest ..... is disgusting. If you want to convince yourself, ask to see the rooms before the payment. they are all old and alas their mother. The bored staff. They lied to us about parking. They do not have parking! One of the hotel's employees is a friend with the car maker and calls him in second second when you park at the hotel. We have bought parking tickets for 10 hours. After no more than 3 hours, our car was picked up with all valid parking tickets. Trusted and defiant staff. I hope that the owner of this hotel will also take a look at the reviews (this is not the same as the staff he has) We came from Bansko from the ski and we wanted to visit Sofia. I'm sorry there are such people. is in the club on the ground floor. musically sounds until morning. You can not sleep like that.
Hotel looks fancy at the front as they refurbished. Maybe they will be refurbishing rooms next. Not to sure why the plans are. The rooms, hallways, lift are very outdated. Seems all areas of the hotel have never been touched since it was first built, accept bath tubs, sinks and toilets. Everything else is old.
We stayed in a decent size room with sofa s, fridge, desk, wardrobe and widescreen TV which as music channels and more. We had two balconies in our room.
Beds were comfortable due to a layer of foam on top of a mattress to ensure you are comfortable.
Prices for refreshments in the fridge are actually reasonable, with chocolates, nuts, crisp, small whiskeys, red & white wine.
He best thing about the hotel is it was in the centre of good night life, shopping centre and main road, and agriculture.
Centrally !! For the nostalgic of vintage / communist style it is the perfect place .. for my taste it is really too vintage. Starting from the elevator that more than that is a freight elevator without doors (so exposed walls), the beautiful ultra-flat TV with Netflix but in Cyrillic (unusable), dusty and heavy curtains, the bathroom that takes you straight back to the 50s. ... and the smell ... the smell of smoke everywhere !!! Nauseating! So for those who want to experience the charm of austerity midcentury highly recommended ....
Very good location, the rooms are very comfortable, but in general I think the hotel needs a refurbishment ... WiFi moderate to bad ... It compensates for the wonderful view, especially from the corner rooms on the 8th floor ..
Only go there if you are very sports, although it is proposed as a luxurious place is very far from luxury
Building from the cold war era that practically maintains the finishes and materials of the time. The best and almost unique thing that it has is its excellent location. Rooms leave a lot to be desired
Located on the center of the city, needs more maintenance on the cleaning sector, but the price paid is in the same level of the service.
Very good prices for the rooms! Good service on reception! Everywhere clean! WiFi connection good in the rooms on all floors! Location - downtown, close to metro station.
Very nice hotel to see ... The rooms and services are much desired, shower and taps broken, lamps that do not work .. empty fridge ..
Super location, professionalism of staff, friendly staff, cleanliness, decent low price, but the base is a crash ...
Location is excellent, breakfast is with products of very low quality, the beds are renewed and comfortable, but the rest of the furniture and the bathroom are for repair.
It looks like Socialist era hotel that was little bit renovated. Great location.
Building (apart from the entry hall) dilapidated, with old rooms and bathrooms unapproachable (I did not have the courage to take a shower), breakfast with poor food poor quality, stale for days
Cozy hotel, large and comfortable rooms. Small bathrooms with shower in the bath. There are no bidets and hair phones.
Friendly and very helpful staff for every reason. If you need a taxi they are very kind and will order it for you.
Under the hotel there is a disco, which unfortunately can be heard on the lower floors, more than anything else you feel the vibrations.
Prices in the norm.
The breakfast is foreign, not very rich for me.
Big room with 2 double beds, with 3 balconies and nice view on Vitosha mountain
Awesome old hotel. Very comfortable and warm, lovely shower, very clean. What I liked best of all was the original 60's decor, which is in keeping with the history of the hotel.
Very good location. Nice staff, but old furniture and door of the toilet did not close properly
There were 3 of us and the room was huge. In the main room there was a double bed, sofas with a small table and a large refrigerator. The incredible views and terrace. The carpet floor, with a large bathroom and a separate room with a single bed. The pretty good situation.
Great location. Owner very cheap. People working 16 hours for little pay. Charge to use the toilet and very dirty with no one to clean it. If I had such perfect location...I would keep it wonderful with many happy Bulgarian people and would put signs in English.
Great location but poorly built structure and rooms
