once we arrive we see our name printed on this welcome paper sign along with other guests. We go to the reception check in area and now they need booking confirmation number. As if they didn t know we were coming. So check in is like noon. We make it to the resort around 6 pm and still have to wait on our room. We re told to go hangout at the sports bar and they ll come get us when it s time to go to our room. After not hearing anything from them I return to the office and they re like oh yeah where s his room key. We are escorted to the room. It s the butlers first day. He says here are your two keys after spending 3-5 minutes trying to open the hotel room door. After a few minutes our luggage arrives. We leave go to the buffet (wasn t edible but nothing at all to write home about). We return to our privilege room and try to open the door. The key doesn t work. We have to go get help opening the door. Finally we are in the room and staff says one key is to control the lights. One key is for the door. Why wouldn t they say that from the beginning. So far this place is ehhh. We haven t done much of anything but they re definitely starting off on the wrong foot.

It has very little details but the quality of the service and the food make it really worth going.
The rooms are very comfortable and clean.
The daily activities of the pool are something you cannot miss, especially the foam party. The animation team does an excellent job.
It is a place committed to ecology by saving water in different ways and if you go preferably bring a Yeti-type glass
Don't forget to visit the cafeteria for their smoties and their espresso are delicious.

The hotel is an amazing place where you can relax or have fun depending on what you are looking for. The theme restaurants are of high quality and the variety in the buffet is quite good.

Extremely average Mexico resort. We came here for our honeymoon, and OMR was simply not for us. Food is decent, little activities, and loud intoxicated tourists. Very few places to relax in quiet, but the spa massage was worth the cost. Privilege not so much. OMR is good for the price, but you get what you pay for.

We were there May 6 thru 13th 2017. We ended up getting ill for 5 days. Talking to the other guests we found out that they also got ill. We ended up getting the runs real bad for two days, and then after that we couldn't eat because then we would get stomach cramps. We took the meds that we had with us, and then had to go to the front desk and they sent someone from the resort to Playa Del Carman for more medicine and electrolite. After we returned home we contacted our travel agent and told them what happened, they contacted the resort and they said that they knew nothing about the situation. They lied about the whole thing. All we wanted was to be compensated for part of our trip and the resort refused . We absolutely will not return to this resort and we are not recommending it to anyone we know. We've been to Mexico at least 11 times and this is the very first time that this has happened to us. On the plus side the resort was nice, people were nice, food was so so, but the resort was very understaffed.

Ocean Maya Royale was amazing for our honeymoon. The service is top notch and all staff was approachable and happy to help. Food was amazing , great variety with the different restraunts. It was perfect how one pool was a fun party pool and the other was a quiet relaxing pool. Entertainment staff were a lot of fun during the day. And good night entertainment however could use more. Very coupley resort wouldn t stay here if single and wanting to party. Only downfall is the ocean. Not swimable, cannot see your feet it s so dirty. However if you dnt swim in ocean it s 5/5!

An amazing hotel. Great atmosphere. Great location in the jungle hence a large number of wild animals skimming through the terrain. Coati, agouti, jelly, iguanas, monkeys ... Great animations. Service great.

It's just ok. I don't see it as a 5 star resort honestly. There is only 1 restaurant for breakfast, raccoons entire family running around all over the grounds and hopping on tables and only 2 pools. They serve you the cheapest no name liquor unless you request a brand. Some brands you dont even have access to unless you paid extra to be a privilege member although it's an all inclusive resort. Word of advice, if you tip the bartender then he will give you the good name brands regardless of being a privilege member. Theres also a restaurant you have to pay to eat at unless you're apart of their privilege club. They claim they have their own private beach yet several ppl and even myself were able to walk over that way and it's not like there was security to stop us. The nightly entertainment was horrible. Theres no stage and no chance of the audience even getting involved which really made the resort boring. The resort itself looks nice and the rooms minus not having a full size mirror to check your outfit from head to toe so if you want to stand on the sink and see then go for it. The foam party was fun. The restaurants were descent but I wish they had more to offer. The Japanese restaurant was the best though. We weren't impressed from the beginning when we tried to check in not once, not twice but 3 times. We arrived and were sent to a hotel bathroom to shower and change clothes. The bathroom was so hot we sweated and we showered...pointless shower might I add. When we requested towels to shower, they told us we could wash up with the big drying towel they gave us Oh and 1 more thing, dont expect fitted sheets on the bed...there were none nor a blanket. They give you about 3 flat sheets and 1 they cover the mattress with. I think I'll stick to RIU or AMResort brands because H10 doesn't impress. I called the waiter over and he came over and said "what, what do you want." The best waiter we had was a younger guy that works the small section tables by the windows to the left. Stay away from the Privilege sales people. They are super aggressive, annoying, each person will ask the exact same questions, and will basically try to force your hand at obtaining a membership...think of a timeshare presentation but 10x worse. I felt like I was in a work meeting again but on my vacation

Long story short: skip the other desk after check-in, entertainment staff is amazing, nice grounds, fun pool, great drinks, friendly staff.

Full review: Our trip was booked as a two couple honeymoon trip. We had assumed it would be more fun with two couples rather than going alone, and this was my first time out of the country, so I wanted someone with experience with me. At check in, we were met with delicious welcome drinks, and many smiles. As we were walking away from the check-in desk, we were waved over to another desk. We had assumed this was for a ride to the room or something, but we were wrong. This was to sign us up for a "tour" of all the facilities. We signed up not knowing exactly what we were in for, but this was our one huge regret of the trip. Avoid this desk at all costs. They promise you a "gift," and ours was $100 for each couple to use at the resort or on an excursion. After signing up for this tour to happen the following morning, we were taken to our room in a golf cart, where staff carried our bags to our room. We paid for an ocean view room, and it was an amazing view! We watched the sun rise each morning from our bed or the covered deck area. Our room also overlooked the sand volleyball court, so when we weren't participating, we were able to watch. Room was a good size, with a huge shower, and a nice bathroom. The buildings overall look like they may need some updating, but it appeared as though some updates were in progress. The next morning, after taking their nearly two hour "tour", we received $100 total, even though my paper said $200 total/$100 for each couple. It was just a push for us to sign up for their "premium" upgrade, which is discounted trips to all of the owner's resorts for 3 or 25 years, 3 trips of 8 days 7 nights a year. Even after going through this tour, there is a kiosk on one of the main paths where they bug you about doing this tour nearly every day of your trip. Thats what knocked my experience from 5 stars to 4. The food was comparable to other resorts I've been told, but I wasn't much of a fan of a lot of it. Blue Moon and the Mexican restaurant were my favorites (I don't remember the Italian place, as the foam party got the best of me that day). Speaking of the foam party, this is a can't miss if you're there for a good time. These happen on Wednesdays and Sundays. The entertainment staff is an absolute blast every single day, with many activities going on. The entertainment staff made the trip for me, and after a day or two they start to remember you. Rodrigo, Inez, Sexy Papi, Naomi, and the others bring the energy day after day with a smile on their face, I don't know how they do it, but they 100% made the trip worth it. Every night they have an event or show, the fire show with a beach dance party after, was our favorite. If activities aren't your thing, there are multiple beach areas to lay out, or a "relaxed" pool. There is sand volleyball, cornhole, ladder ball, water volleyball, swim up bar, etc. Our room was clean, fridge filled, and towels stocked each day. Staff will give you a ride via golf cart to your room or to the lobby area each night if needed. Two suggestions, get your pool towels the night before you plan on going to the pool, and take them to a chair in the morning, otherwise the seats will all be claimed, second, don't be afraid to order double, its all-inclusive so portions are fairly small even for me (5'8" 160 lbs). Only complaint other than being bothered by people offering spas, excursions, and the "tour," is that at times they didn't have enough staff. We were told at one point they were too busy to make shots, and on two occasions we waited well over an hour for food in restaurants that were not full. We were always met with a smile or an "Hola!" If you pass a bar without a drink, they'll ask why!

This hotel was nothing that I expected. There were animals that I later found out were called Kodi s they were EVERYWHERE they also had iguanas everywhere it was very uncomfortable. The hotel smell like a zoo it s horrible I read the reviews and nobody mentioned any of this because this would not have been my hotel of choice . The food has not been appealing i expected really good food and drinks none of the above . Our toilet got stopped up the first night we had no wash clothes or towels after the first night. This was for my birthday and I m so disappointed with this hotel my first experience in Mexico and not a good one. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. It s away from all other hotels if you are looking for a hotel with other hotels close this isn t the place.

Facilities are good, but the employees lack of politeness for locals

We are pleasantly surprised to discover a little gem in the heart of Riviera Maya, a charming place, the food very good and varied, there is a beautiful layout and ample places for everyone at the pools and at the beach, hammocks. You can relax in peace or let yourself be carried away by the infectious enthusiasm of an INCREDIBLE animation team. Both day and evening activities. Special thanks to Naomi! My experience at Ocean Maya Royale has been the best! My husband and I received the best service and the shows were amazing. The people here make you feel special at any given moment. It has truly been a great stay. The staff is supper attentive and genuine. In particular Ines, she always greeted us with a smile and made us feel welcome each time. Ines kept us informed of show times and made sure we got there on time. I can definitely says Ines is one of the reasons why this vacation felt as if we were VIP. We loved our stay and we will be back.

We had an amazing vacation at Ocean Maya. The entertainment staff was friendly and got to know the names of all the regulars at events and at the pool. They really made you feel special and enjoy yourselves. Service was incredible whether you tipped or not. All the wait staff did they best they could and bartenders were very attentive. Rooms were nice and cleaned multiple times daily. The beds could have been a bit softer, but they got the job done. Make sure you get to the pool early to reserve a lounge chair. Buffet was good, but seemed pretty standard affair. Japanese, Italian, and Blue Moon were definitely our favorites, food-wise, though! Overall, it was a great experience and we definitely plan on going back!

This location is all inclusive and worth every penny. Staff are amazing. Whatever you need, they work to make it happen. Beautiful facility.
Since all inclusive, restaurants on property had great food. Be prepared to to wait during busy times in evening. However, bars are plentiful so the wait were still tolerable. Enjoyed the buffet breakfast and lunch in La Hacienda. Don t be afraid to try something new. Selza (Mexican Beyonce) and Ines were always friendly. Beach right out pool steps. Good security. Will return.

It was a super nice and relaxing holiday. We were very happy with everything. The entertainment team Rodrigo, Arturo and Naomi were super friendly and fun for everyone. Especially playing volleyball was always fun ..

Upon arrival we were upgraded to the privilege rooms with the Jacuzzi. This was GREAT! The room was sepectacular and the bed was the most comfortable bed...definitely made it really hard to get out of it each day. Sorry to our wonderful cleaning people that kept trying to clean the room but we would never leave in the mornings! We loved that the resort was adults only! It made things more enjoyable and relaxing. Oly at the lobby bar was the best bartender! He had us laughing the entire time we were there. His "Oly shots" were delicious. Sad I didn't find out what he used to make them. Johnny at the pool bar was also great! He had his own special drink that we delicious and we ordered numerous times. Thankful that I got him to share the recipe with me! The entertainment was great...really enjoyed the live bands, casino night, and the acrobat and fire show. We enjoyed the food at every restaurant. We stayed full the entire trip! Also enjoyed the atmosphere of the resort..the casita style of rooms versus a huge hotel tower was nice. I also enjoyed seeing all the wildlife running around the property..countless times we opened our curtains to the balcony and found little tejones roaming right outside!

The hotel is very beautiful, the only thing I did not like was the beach x the subject of the sargassum, from there on more good food and service too

we have been going to OMR since 2005 every year it gets better. we were there in Feb for our annual visit.a lot of the same staff always remember us they are like family but all staff no matter what there job are fantastic the grounds,the rooms and of course the food amazing would recomend OMR to anybody and we look forward to our next visit big hugs to our Mexican family

Can't say enough about Ocean Maya Royale ! We've been to Mexico 4 times and this is by far the best resort we've stayed at. Excellent entertainment, fantastic staff, outstanding beach and a beautiful property overall.

I loved that after checking out, people continue to serve you 100% at the facilities until the moment of your departure
Since in other resorts after checking out, the attention is already uncomfortable when they see that you are already leaving, why do they specify what time you can no longer access food and etc.

Bathroom lights wouldn't work before and after I alerted them. Sales pitch was terrible and wasted a lot of time.

DO NOT BOOK THIS RESORT! It has been closed for months but is still up on all of the travel sites. I booked it 3 weeks ago and upon arriving to Mexico at midnight there was no one to pick us up even though we reserved transportation. After a $60 taxi we finally showed up to our resort and was told by the guard it was closed and we were being sent to a sister resort at paradise royale. The resort wouldn't compensate us and the new resort was not adult only or a dive resort which is what we paid for. I have no idea how this bait and switch is still going on.

Had a great time, friendly staff. Food was ok, drinks great - the better you tip, the better they are. Will return!

Fantastic hotel, my wife and I have gone there to spend the honeymoon and we have left enchanting. The staff of 10, Cesar, animation and activities a great professional, at all times encouraged to play water polo or pool volleyball. Margarita, all heart, what a great person you have !!! We would have taken it to Spain hahaha and Miguel, waiter at the pool bar, it was for a thousand people putting drinks and he did it as if it were a machine and always with a smile. In short, I would repeat one and a thousand times more hotel h10. Thank you and thank you very much for making our honeymoon the best. Jonas Eve.

Loved the room...food was not as good as other places I've been...crazy, not sure why

My second visit to the Ocean Maya and I ll be back. Everything you d want at an all inclusive: beautifully manicured landscaping, friendly and helpful staff, and delicious food. A special shout out to Naomi and Arturo for the awesome activities and keeping things lively!

I m very disappointed with this place for multiple reasons:
-raw chicken in the Brazilian restaurant. Their response: we ll try better next time
-mini fridge not replenished as promised. Had to call 3 times over a 4 hr period and still no resolution. In the end, I tipped a room service person $10 for them to take care of it
-the Main road is a 15 minute walk. No issue but in the high heat or rain, they could have a shuttle take you. Instead their response: Ohhh you can pay 50 pesos for a taxi to take you that little distance.
-Japanese restaurant: you need to go cue up at 5pm so that they take your reservation at 5:40. Somehow they don t have a phone you can call.
-Pool facilitates are old and tired.
-All inclusive is BS. Many things required extra payment.
-my friend was bit by what looked like a lemar. Knowing how they handled any issue it was not worth even telling them.
-90 percent of the front of house staff don t speak any English. I only mention this because many other resorts in Mexico don t have this issue.

Generally speaking there was no issue that the staff went out of their way to help with and resolve. No one issue is that serious but it all adds up.

On the good side:
-Activities team is good. They know how to throw a party and get all involved.
-The breakfast is good
-The Mexican restaurant is good.

A couple of days ago I went with my partner celebrating our anniversary, I recommend acquiring the hotel excursions, in our case it was with Margarita since each tour we went to was amazing, good quality restaurants, very good drinks, good service, the cafeteria very Recommended too, the animation guys stand out in everything, Selza for her so funny attitude and Ines so cute and helpful. I take a very pleasant memory of Ocean Maya.

We have come with friends and we have had a great time at this hotel, all the activities we have loved, the drinks are very well served, the pool bar is always full of good vibes and atmospheres, I thank the guys of the entertainment staff are great, Ines the best volleyball player, always seals with a smile on her face, Arturo the best funny animator the man, Naomy dances very well, I thank Ever and Johny del.bar of the pool, thanks for everything.

Great and friendly staff. Beautiful resort and nice room. But the smell is terrible from the seaweed. Since the beach (water) is off limits the resort should have other things to do.

Love this place. The Hotel Surprised me with a Birthday Cake in my Room! Two times stayed there. Great food Options enough to go one establishment to eat everyday. Shows to keep everyone entertained. Drinks all you can drink! I cant said this enough they will happily serve you drinks until your heart is content so to speak haha. Staff will treat you like a Queen and King from the moment you check in to check out. Everyone is so nice, helpful, and friendly. Paradise I call it. Will be looking to come for a third straight year 2020. No Kids running around just simply amazing!

Very good option of lodging in the Riviera Maya with a good quality / price ratio

Had such a great stay here! Came with my boyfriend for 6 days and we had such a fun time. The entertainment team does such a great job of hosting games and activities throughout the day, there s always something to do. Marena, Ines, Arturo, Rodrigo and Naomi were all really attentive, I was so impressed that they remembered our names every day even with so many guests around!

My wife and I spent our anniversary here. She had found a Valentine's deal online with Southwest, so we were able to fly directly to Cancun, and the provider picked us up at the airport. It was our first all-inclusive hotel and it was a good experience. For those with gluten-sensitivity or celiac disease there were some safe options, but you need to talk to guest services and they will register you and let the chefs know via email. There are five restaurants, but we only tried 4 and of those 2 are the ones we prefer. The main eating venue is La Hacienda, which serves three meals a day, it is the only one that serves breakfast. La Dolce Vita has a wonderful, but smelly, view of the ocean and the food is delicious and has some safe options for those with celiac.

The tours that people sell are expensive, so make your best choices. One of our favorites was the Chichen Itza Express, which left at 6:30 am, but returned at 2:30pm. This gets you to the park before the majority of tours arrive which will give you some got pictures with few or no people in them. The other tour took 11 hours.

At the Hotel there are daily activities, but many of them are jokes. We took a kayak tour which, because of the water being cloudy, was not that great. But, our last day we took a tour of the Lagoon. Now, the name is not very descriptive, but it is a great opportunity to see something that would cost a lot more if you went with a tour. About a mile north of the hotel on the beach there is a crystal clear river that comes from a cenote(underground cave river). its cold, and swift, but is totally worth visiting. Its part of the activities of the hotel, so its free. We found it the last day, but wish we would have found it earlier because there are two other rivers there to explore.

All in all, we would definitely visit this hotel or any one of the ones it the chain.

Unfortunately, this resort hasn't met our expectations. The drinks are subpar, and watered down. As soon as we checked in, we were approached by someone from the timeshare staff. As soon as we told them we weren't interested, his tone changed from being friendly to being curt with us. If wouldn't recommend this resort.

Best part of OMR are the incredible staff who have made me feel so welcomed as a solo guest. Ines in Animation truly Amazing, Mario my awesome concierge so friendlyand knowledgeable, Inelda my wonderful & attentive housekeeper & All the other wonderful staff. I had a wonderful stay. The Italian restaurant is the best.
I will note however, that for breakfast especially, the omelette, pancake and waffles stations have only one person working there leading to a long wait. Please, this is very inconsiderate & an easy fix! Also the privilege steak restaurant only has one waiter, when it's full for dinner this is too much for one person, kindly address this.

We thoroughly loved our stay at OMR! The staff here is amazing, the grounds were immaculate and teaming with wildlfe. The food very tasty at all the restaurants. The entire pool entertainment group, Rodrigo, Arturo, Margarita and the bar staff were super personable. Mike's coffee was a perfect way to start the day. Front desk staff was great, and Betty Flowers helped us out alot. Alredo was a gem of a server at the Mexican restaurant, and I can't finish this without a tip of my sombreo to Olie at the lobby bar. I have not seen a bartender create that much excitement in a while. Who ever does the hiring in the place seriously knows how to pick them! Thanks for everything!

The Ammies drink a lot in the pool, food in all areas is great, animation and entertainment are ok and not pushy. Super vacation and seen a lot on Yucatan. Was a great vacation.
