Easily the nicest hotel I've stayed it. The hotel Dupont retains its early 1900s architecture and theme. Between the smooth jazz playing in the lobby, and the very pleasant staff, the Hotel Dupont is nothing short of class. Our room was beautiful and clean. All the modern amentities you would expect with a hotel, but retains that classy 1920s feel. I will definitely recommend the Hotel Dupont.

In regard to our less than stellar treatment at the Hotel Dupont we did receive an email from, Greg Kavanagh, the General Manager of the hotel. Not surprising that never once did he apologize or say he was sorry for what happened, the tone of the letter was just more of the same attitude we received at the hotel. He stated that we were confused and is blaming the whole incident on the campaign attendees. He also mentioned the fact that he intends to discredit the reviews I have posted on Google and several other hotel review websites. It now all stands to reason why the staff finds it acceptable to treat and speak to guests they way they did us. We are not confused, This has little to do with our confirmed reservation being revoked more the fact that it was done at the last minute. The front desk manager, Justin was rude when we did arrive at the hotel and now the general manager sending an almost argumentative email.

Hotel facilities are top notch. Two items prohibit me from rating five stars. First is Mandatory valet parking for $22. Second is wake up was supposed to be at 6:30 and 6:35 am and only one call came.in after 6:45. FYI.. There's self park garage thirty yards across the street for $18 for the night. This way you're not stuck waiting in line for your car especially during busy mornings or after a show.

This is truly a world-class hotel that positively reeks with class! This hotel has everything: polished marble staircases, friendly, attentive service and even country-club style bathrooms make this hotel something to be truly experienced! I was impressed with the level of professionalism and service that their banquet servers gave. They really put on a show with those carts that they wheeled into the dining room and then lit the ice cream on fire! What a presentation! I was thoroughly impressed with this whole property and the way it was run. This hotel looks like a giant mansion of days gone by, adding to the mystique and charm of the property. Great job, guys! Five stars all around!

This is a beautiful mansion to visit, especially at Christmas. The entire Mansion is decorated it's all types of trees and wreaths and various Christmas decorations.

It's all so beautiful in the spring and summer when all the flowers are in bloom in the trees are blooming. It's worth the money to go visit this mansion.

The hotel was beautiful. However, I had issue after issue and the front desk didn't address my concerns.

I stayed for a week.
Monday: Ordered room service - was told 35 mins and it took an hour and 15 mins.

Tuesday: There was pizza sauce on my sheets and I did NOT eat pizza. The housekeeping staff was yelling in the hallway "Not my president" - not really appropriate in any work environment.

Wednesday: Missing and charged for one item in my mini fridge.

Thursday: Missing and charged for three items in my mini fridge.
(the mini bar charges were removed, but they insisted that no one took items when they were clearly missing - I was then concerned for my personal belongings).

Throughout the week my bathroom products were not being restocked I had to call two separate times for shampoo and conditioner.

It was just frustrating when you expect a luxury stay.

The wait staff and valet staff were very friendly and the hotel was absolutely beautiful. It's a shame because I would love to go back with my family, but not with all the issues I had.

I will start my review acknowledging that we are in a global pandemic and as a long time guest of the Hotel DuPont I am more surprised than anyone at how disappointed I am with our last visit. While I can attribute and overlook some missteps because there are much more important things happening in the world I really think the hotel had a sinking ship feel to it. We had a suite , the big suite and arrived at 3pm on a Saturday for my annual birthday stay. Two things I have always looked forward to .. a classic cocktail in the Green Room Bar and a Silver Pot of Coffee brought to me in the am by room service. Both have been done away with. The bar is closed and while the new restaurant has an amazing bar and fantastic mixologists who spent the time educating us on some processes of how to make syrups and other classic cocktail lessons, the classic feel of the old bar was missed. There is no longer any food service in the hotel . Again maybe the pandemic , maybe not but no one would give us a straight answer. Breakfast was offered from the cupcake place in DECO which was also closed for the weekend. It was very low rent for a hotel that is considered the cornerstone of luxury in Wilmington. I can get over my disappointment from an emotional level but what comes next is where I am the most disappointed. Upon entering our room we noticed the remote was in a plastic bag which was great when we went into our master bathroom there was a large piece of what appeared to be a hair weave or piece of wig just lying on the floor under the bathroom sink. The lightbulbs in the bathroom didn t work and upon using the room for them the other bathroom also had a piece of hair weave or wig on the ground. That says a lot about the actual cleaning between guests. My husband did bring it to the managers attention because it really just felt dirty after that , they very generously offered us a change in rooms we had already settled in and they were agreeable to make amends but it was a huge turn off. We were not asking for a discount but just wanted to bring it to the managers attention that there were some issues. It felt like the end of an era of a grand hotel. The room itself ( 1010 ) was outdated and while the hallways were fresh and clean and bright and I appreciate traditional furniture the age of the art and accents made the hotel feel less grand and sad.

In the evening my husband called to the front desk to ask if they had any vending machines. there were zero options for food and beverage the restaurant bar closed at 9:30 there is no room service , not a stitch of food or drink available for purchase for a luxury hotel charging 500 a night for a room having zero food or drink service even a vending machine is not acceptable. Waking up this morning we felt like we had to leave Because we wanted to buy not make a cup of coffee and grab something to eat and that was not an option other than the brunch at La Cavalier

Again because of Corona I get that there are no comforters but the beds were made poorly. At least tighten those sheets up There was no light in the bidet area. The three piece music ensemble and outdated jug could use a refresh.

Again in the scheme of life this is an a big deal but I am feeling confident that this was my last overnight at the hotel

A grand Dame of civilised accommodation, the old lady has so much glory yet is showing slips in pride of excellence. It's all about details. The valets vary and attention was elsewhere not on snappy quick service. Getting the bags out and on the cart wasn't as cumbersome as they made it. Check-in seemed smooth but slow. The lobby is gorgeous and we had time to look while waiting. I walked down a fairly long hallway to use the restroom and back to find more minutes to wait. 12th floor views we're nice on one side. My side was blocked in 3 sides of buildings and HVAC roof below. So why not equally well appointed rooms on both sides of the hallway? Love the big tub and the glass shower. Although the mildew is growing along the base and needs some pride applied. Delightful appointments and love the soaps et all. Comfy sofa and chairs. Class lamps well situated for good individualized lighting tastes. It has a home and relaxing feel was really nice art pieces included. Bed is very comfortable. Sheets and linens flawless. Pillows helped my traveling neck ache go away. They do not overuse unpleasant smelling cleaners to the point of permeating the atmosphere with chemical irritants. It's nice to have intriguing interest piquing books included. I hardly used the television except to check weather. They could use a modernization for some USB charging electrical outlets. We ate breakfast in The Green Room 2 days. Service was mixed like exceedingly long lag time in getting a coffee cup initially filled - even after asking the hostess for assistance, there was still a delay after she went to ask. and then having to get up to resolve having made a request for a refill that went unfulfilled on the second. The two separate days had bigger issues than they should have been. Food was heavy and very old traditional. The creme brulee french toast was divine. Granola and yogurt was heavy and I couldn't eat much. Crispy ringed eggs, burnt black bits hash browns we're underwhelming. Burnt toast on one side to black, cut in half and cowardly hid inside. Yuck. Any hash house does it better. A nice cloche for presentation would also get the food to the table warmer. My eggs were tepid and the bacon cold but crispy. Those blackened hash browns were not sizzling hot either. Barely warm that quickly faded. You would think with all the heat to burn warm would be included or was it just a beat reheat? In the room, the wood trim is pulling away. An open safety pin stayed on the carpet under the desk for two days and there's a red wine spill stain buy the mini bar. The shower black lines too. Don't let this jewel slip away. Pay attention and step it up!

The hotel was absolutely marvelous. We stayed in a king suite in the 12th floor. Service was quick and courteous, the food was delicious, the wedding was magical and the beds were extremely comfortable.

Understanding the COVID restrictions, it was an OK stay. Being that it was a Monday, the restaurant was closed but we had an excellent dinner at Tonic down the street. It should be noted that at check in the front desk told us that he was the only one working but that we should feel free to call him if we needed anything. Upon turning one of the lamps on, it began to pop and smoke. We immediately called the desk. Our lamp was immediately replaced but the smell was anything but pleasant.
We were given a menu to fill out for breakfast the next day and told to leave it at the desk before midnight. We dropped it off and asked if there was anyway to have champagne delivered to our room (it was our anniversary ). We were told that he couldn t find any champagne but he had some beer if we wanted that. no thanks! Upon waking the next morning, we tried to make coffee and discovered a used pod in the coffee maker no thanks! Our food was never delivered and when we inquired the front desk )who was now a different employee) stated that they had no order for us but would we like to place an order? No thanks!
We will not be returning unfortunately. We really wanted it to be special but it turned into just a bedroom to crash after a very fulfilling dinner offsite.

Decent place with a lot of history, but in need of renovation, especially for the amount charged for a stay. Wallpaper peeling all around hotel. Bathroom shower leaked in room. There was also a stain on the sheets on bed which looked like they gave us dirty or non washed sheets. Floor was unclean and dirty from previous guests. Stayed for 2 nights 3 days and never had a maid come in and clean or refill anything. Staff was not friendly especially at the bar. One older bartender tried to put his friends drinks on my tab. I told him my wife and I didnt have the drinks so he said he took them off, but when I looked at my bank it shows the drinks charged separate from the one I signed. Going to have to dispute the charges with my bank and will be calling management about this.
On the positive side, we were attending a friends wedding and it was very elegant. Most of the wedding staff was pleasant and ready to serve. Food was ok (crab cakes had a lot of shells making it almost unbearable to eat which my wife didnt) the taste was good.

Just as it is often described: Old World Charm. There are special deals, especially last-minute, you can land and get about 60% off a suite. I don't often enjoy hotels but this is a unique experience. It's like The Drake in Chicago, only the rooms are far better. Regular prices certainly reflect it's luxury.

Stayed for a wedding, the staff was amazing. Valet chaotic, make sure you call ahead if you want your car brought up. Very classy elements throughout the building. The only complaint we had (very minor) was the was only one mirror in the room, which made getting ready a task. Lots of food and drink options in walking distance. The food at Stitchhouse was amazing. Would stay again.

A+

WOOOOWWWW, just WOOOWWW. Such an exquisite and beautiful place. Absolutely mesmerizing. Their upstairs and downstairs banquet halls are out of this world. Soo detailed and ornate. A true masterpiece.

I stayed at this hotel for a friends wedding. What a treasure this hotel is... The rooms have his and her closets, a large beautiful bathtub, separate shower, and a nice lounge in the room. The pancakes were delish. The staff was prompt and courteous . The wedding-was intimate and stunning. No decorations were needed with the hotels holiday decor. The surf and turf was delish. My only disappointment was that I didn t get any cake because it was put in the foyer instead of being placed on the table... But overall what a great experience and hotel
